Chapter 2: Support
Luz woke up in the middle of the night, in need of a glass of water. Remembering where the kitchen was, she decide to try and put together said glass of water before going back to bed.
So, sneaking out of the room, she crept her way to the kitchen.
When she got there though, she heard something, the sound of crying.
Looking around to find the source, here eyes drifted to the window. When she walked over, she saw Anne, leaning against the wall, legs pulled to her chest, and sobbing as a picture of her and her friends just laid next to her.
"She did this last night too…"
Luz jumped a bit as she looked to her left to see Hop Pop standing there.
"Oh hey…" Luz said. "Things must be really rough on her, since she had to see Marcy be… you know."
Hop Pop just sighed. "It's more than that I'm afraid."
This, caught Luz's attention. "What? What could be worse than seeing that?"
"Not my place to say… I'm sure she'll tell you about it." Hop Pop said. "Please, be there for her. She really needs a friend right now."
"What about you guys?"
"We tried already, didn't seem to work." Hop Pop explained. "This wound… cuts deep… very deep."
"…Alright, I'll see what I can do."
"Thank you Liz."
"Luz."
"Right."
The next day, when Anne went into the living room, she saw Luz on the phone.
"Sí Mamá, te quiero." Luz said before hanging up.
"Uh…"
"Oh, good morning Anne!" Luz said as she noticed the other girl in the room. "Sorry, I was just filling my mom in on what was going on."
"And she was alright with it?"
"Oh heck no! But she knew that she couldn't stop me, so she just told me to be careful." Luz explained. "Also, we decided that it would be for the best if Eda stayed put for now."
"What?! Why?"
"We have no clue where the invasion is going to start." Luz explained. "Sure, it COULD start here, heck it is most likely that it starts here, but it could also start on the other side of the planet for all we know. So, we decided that keeping Eda over there just in case was a good idea."
"Ok… that makes sense."
"That being said, a friend of mine will be coming over and dropping off some supplies." Luz explained. "He's a LOT faster on his staff than I am, so he should be here in a couple hours."
"Ok, that's good."
"You know Luz…" Amity said as she walked in with Ghost. "When we were planning out our vacation, this is not exactly what I had in mind…"
"Sorry, but you know I can't just leave this!" Luz said.
"It's fine, that's just part of what makes you, well, you." Amity said before kissing Luz on the cheek.
"… Whaaaaaaaaa?"
"Oh, we forgot to tell you that we were dating, didn't we?"
"Uh, yeah?! That is pretty important!" Anne said. "Oh my gosh I have so many questions! First of all, how long?!"
"It was a couple of days after we met." Luz explained. "We were already dealing with some… let's call it romantic tension, some things happened, and we asked each other out in a hole."
"… Not even gonna ask about the hole and say that I am happy for you two!" Anne said before pulling the two in for a hug.
"That's a relief…" Amity said. "Ever since coming to this world, I noticed that some people are not… very open to the idea of two girls dating."
"And you were worried that I was the same way?" Anne asked.
"Yeah."
"Psh, you don't have anything to worry about!" Anne said. "I mean… I…"
Anne stopped when she saw her Mother walk into the room.
"Oh hey girls. What are you talking about?" She asked.
"Oh, just the fact that… uh…"
"We're dating." Luz said bluntly, while gesturing to Amity. "Forgot to mention that last night."
"Oh my goodness! That is…"
Anne inhaled deeply.
"So cute!"
And she exhaled.
This caught Luz's attention, but she decided to save questions for later.
"Oh good, we were worried that you would be… put off by it." Amity said.
"Psh, love is love!" Anne's mother explained. "Nothing wrong with it at all!"
Anne just smiled at that.
"Anyways, I need to talk to your father, be right back!"
And with that, she was gone.
"So… I just have one more question." Anne said.
"And that is?"
"Since when did you guys have a cat and bird with you?" Anne asked, pointing towards Ghost and Bluebert, the later of which was perched on the former's head.
"Oh, they are actually our staves." Luz explained. "I'll explain while we're out."
"Are you sure you don't want me to come?" Amity asked.
"Psh, we'll be fine!" Luz said as she let Bluebert onto her shoulder. "Just gonna get some food, go to a mall or something. You know, just hang out!"
"Ok…"
"Hey, if you want to keep yourself busy, maybe help the Plantars?" Luz suggested. "They… need some help learning how to stay safe around here."
"How bad?"
"Well, I decided to try and get the mail for you guys, and in that time Polly almost started a fight, Sprig almost fell into a wood chipper, and Hope… Hope…"
"Hopediah." Amity finished for her.
"Right… he almost got scammed." Luz explained.
"I'm sorry, WHAT?!" Anne asked.
"Anyways! Can we count on you Amity?" Luz asked.
"I'll see what I can do." Amity said. "Just… be careful you two. I don't want you to get hurt."
"We'll be back later today! Don't you worry!" Luz said.
"Ok… have fun." Amity said before walking away.
"Well, let's go!" Luz said before she took Anne's hand and led her outside.
After getting some much needed breakfast, Anne decided to start showing Luz around town. The arcade, the mall, everything.
They could of sworn they saw Amity with the Plantars at the mall as they left, but they decided to leave them to it. Amity knew what she was doing…
It was at that moment that Luz realized that Amity hadn't been in the human realm THAT long, but she decided to leave it… she had faith that she could pull through in the end.
There were a couple of times where someone who recognized Anne approached the two, but Luz quickly gave them a look that screamed "Please don't bother her, she's been through a lot" and they left them alone.
Eventually, it was mid afternoon, and the two were sitting down in an empty park before going home.
"That was a nice day… I think I needed that." Anne said.
"I can imagine. I had things tough in the demon realm, but I can't imagine how you must of been feeling when you got home." Luz sympathized.
"Yeah…"
"… Ok, we need to talk about all that." Luz said as she got up.
"What's there to talk about?"
"Anne… I know there's more to the story." Luz said bluntly.
"Wh-whaaaaa? No, sorry, not much more to it!" Anne said defensively.
One look at Luz's face told Anne all she needed to know.
"How'd you figure it out?" Anne asked.
"Cause I was in the same position once." Luz explained. "There was something that I tried keeping from Eda once, something I thought was really bad. When I looked at myself in the mirror that night, I saw the same face that you've been making… a face filled with guilt. When I saw that, I immediately went to Amity's house to just… vent."
"Oh…"
"Also… I kinda saw you last night…" Luz said.
"… I guess that would do it, yeah." Anne sighed out. "Sorry for worrying you."
"You should apologize to Hope-… Hope-… uh…"
"Just call him Hop Pop."
"Right, Hop Pop. You should apologize to him too… he's also really worried." Luz said.
Anne smiled at this. "Yeah, I will."
"So… what really happened."
"… Andrias… wasn't the only one to betray us…" Anne started.
Anne then went into detail on everything that happened that day, Sasha's betrayal, them taking back the city, and giving Andrias the music box.
"After that, he basically laid everything out… his plans… and then there was Marcy…" Anne said.
"Marcy?"
"She… she knew that the music box would take us there… to Amphibia." Anne explained to Luz's shock.
"Whoa… that's… a thing…" Luz said.
"Yeah…" Anne said. "She told me about it the night before… but then we found out that Andrias tricked her and… she was devastated… and then… he started taunting her, telling her that everything that happened to us was her fault… and when she tried to help us escape…"
She didn't want to finish that.
"Still… to decide to take you guys to another world… why would she…?" Luz said.
"She… she said that her parents wanted her to move away…" Anne explained. "She said she didn't want to lose us…"
"… So her parents were forcing her into a situation that she didn't like… so she did something desperate to avoid it." Luz pointed out.
"Yeah… I guess…"
"… Then she and I are the same."
Anne looked at her in shock.
"What?"
"At first, when I went to the Boiling Isles, I decided to stay to avoid going to this reformation camp." Luz explained.
"What?!"
"Let's just say my Mom and principle thought I was a biiiiiiiiit too weird for my own good." Luz explained. "The camp was supposed to get me to… curb my imagination."
"That's terrible! They wanted to change who you were!" Anne said.
"Yeah, and Marcy's parents were going to take her away from everything she loved." Luz explained. "You see where I'm going with this?"
"… You know how she felt…" Anne said.
"Exactly."
"Right… still… now Marcy's…"
"… You loved her, didn't you."
Anne looked at Luz in shock. "H-how did you…?"
"Just a guess, based off of everything I've seen." Luz said. "Am I right?"
"Y-yeah…" Anne said, tightening her fists. "We… when we finally found each other again… we started going out… and now…"
"Anne, she's going to be ok." Luz said, taking Anne's hands into her own.
"How do you know that?"
"I just do." Luz said. "You said it yourself too…"
"I… I'm just trying to convince myself." Anne said, tears flowing down her cheeks. "I just… if I keep telling myself over and over that she's alive… then it feels like she is… and… maybe…"
"Hold onto that feeling." Luz said. "Keep hope, and we'll keep fighting to take her back, ok?"
"B-but, she was…!"
"Don't think like that!" Luz scolded. "You're her girlfriend. If you don't believe in her, who will?!"
Anne looked at her in shock.
"Listen, I am not going to sit here and pretend that what I went though is anywhere close to as bad as what you have. But I learned one thing through it all… as soon as you give up on something, that is when it is truly over. So… for her sake… believe in her."
Anne didn't say anything and pulled Luz in for a hug, and began sobbing into her arms.
After a moment, they separated.
"Now, repeat after me! We can fix this together!" Luz cheered.
"We… We can fix this together!"
"YEAH!" Luz said, pumping her fist in the air.
"And Luz?"
"Yeah?"
"Thanks… I am really happy you came." Anne said through the tears.
"No problem!" Luz said as she stood up. "So… do your parents know that you like her?"
"No… they don't even know I like girls yet." Anne explained.
"Well… you should tell them." Luz said. "If how your mom reacted to me and Amity is anything to go by, you'll be fine."
"Yeah… I know." Anne said. "Maybe, when this is all over… I'll tell them."
"Great! Now, how about you tell me about Marcy on the way back?"
"Yeah… I think I'd like that."
"Seriously?! How did she not notice the hundreds of snakes around her?!" Luz asked with a laugh.
"That was her 'in the zone' mode." Anne said, also laughing. "When she gets super into something, she pretty much shuts everything else out!"
"Wow, that's… actually kind of impressive!"
"Yeah… I know…" Anne said with a blush. "She is probably the most passionate girl I know."
"Then it sounds like we'll get along great!" Luz said. "After we rescue her of course!"
"Yeah… We will!"
Before long, they were home, where they saw…
"Uh… did we miss something?" Anne asked, looking at Polly's very… very, tired look.
"Don't ask…" Polly pleaded. "It was a loooooong day…"
"I guess that Amity's training didn't go well?" Anne asked.
"You have NO IDEA!" Polly shouted. "Though… we put her through a lot, so Sprig is making it up to her."
"How?" Luz asked.
"You're about to find out!" Sprig said as he and Hop Pop, the latter of which looked incredibly relieved for some reason, ran into the room.
"STUN EM GIRL!" Polly shouted.
Then, Amity walked into the room, revealing…
"… whoa…" Luz said as she beheld the sheer beauty that her girlfriend had.
From the looks of things, someone had decided to give her a makeover, a very… very good one.
"Dang Sprig! Good work!" Anne commented.
"Wha- Sprig did this?!" Luz asked.
"Dude, Sprig here, is a makeup GOD!" Anne pointed out.
Luz… couldn't argue with that. Amity looked even more stunning than ever now… and that is saying something (at least, Luz thinks so).
"So… how do I look Luz?"
"Huminahuminahuminahumina…"
"I… don't know what that means… so I'll just say it looks good." Amity said with a laugh.
"A-anyways!" Luz said. "Uh… wow… wasn't expecting that…uh…"
"Listen everyone… I… I think I need to tell you all the last part of the story." Anne said, saving Luz.
Luz looked at her in shock.
"Are you sure?" Luz asked.
"I'm sure… I am trusting you all to help me… so I need to be honest with you." Anne explained. "Ok… so, here it is…"
A few moments later, everyone was giving Anne a hug, as she became a sobbing mess half way through.
"A-and then Andrias, h-he…"
"Shhh… It's ok…" Anne's Mother said, trying to calm her down. "We're going to fix this."
"*Sniff* O-ok…"
"Uh… Am I interrupting something?" Said a new voice.
The group looked to the source to see Amity standing next to a new face.
"Hey Hunter! Thanks for coming!" Luz said. "Everyone, this is Hunter, a friend of ours!"
Everyone just waved to him.
"So, you bring my things?" Luz asked.
"Yeah, they're over here." Hunter said, pointing behind him.
Then, something caught his eye… or rather, someone.
He was now staring at Sprig.
"Uh… You good?" Sprig asked.
"O-oh! Uh… yeah… just… deep in thought." Hunter said. 'Why does he look just like that old plush that I had?!'
"Anyways, let's make sure you didn't drop anything." Luz said as she began to drag Hunter away, Amity following.
After digging through the bag that Hunter brought, she found what she was looking for.
"Good, you didn't forget." Luz said as she held a bottle filled with blue liquid.
"Yeah, the strongest healing potion we've got." Hunter said. "Made from Pseudo Blood and everything."
"Thanks dude, this'll be really helpful." Luz said.
"Still, you have to tell me how you managed to make a perfect duplicate for Titan's Blood!" Hunter said. "Scientists have been trying to do so for years!"
"Ask Eda and Willow, they were the ones who figured it out." Luz explained.
"I will!"
Then, Luz saw Amity eyeing the potion.
"What did you want that for?" Amity asked.
"After Anne told us about what happened to Marcy, I decided that we would need this." Luz explained. "I'm hoping that this will help her."
"As long as she's alive, that should do the trick." Hunter said.
"Yeah… let's just hope she's alive." Luz said.
"Ok, so we have a plan to heal her when we rescue her." Amity said. "Now we need a plan to do… well, that."
"Right…"
"Well…" Hunter said. "I don't know if this'll help, but Eda told me to give you this."
He then handed Luz another, smaller bottle.
"She said you'd know what it was for."
"… Yeah…"
The group then walked back into the living room to see that Anne calmed down.
"All good?" Anne asked.
"Yeah, got everything I need." Luz said.
"Good! Now come on, we're gonna throw together something to eat!" Anne said. "You joining us Hunter?"
"Yeah, probably shouldn't fly back without eating something." Hunter said.
"You're not gonna stay the night?" Anne's Mother asked.
"I kinda got a country to lead…" Hunter explained.
This caught Anne by surprise.
"Whaaaaaa?!"
"Oh, forgot to mention that. After we beat the emperor of the Boiling Isles, Hunter here took over!" Luz said.
"Yeah, I am a very busy guy, so please don't call me out here out of no-where again!" Hunter said.
"Right, sorry about that." Luz said before turning to the others. "Anyways, I do have one question."
"What's up?"
"What should we do about Sasha and Marcy's parents?" Luz asked. "Shouldn't we get them caught up on what's going on?"
"Yeah, probably… and probably should leave out the whole 'Sasha betrayed us' part of the story." Anne said. "We'll go over to their places tomorrow."
At that moment, her parents shared a grim look.
"Uh… that might be a problem." Anne's father suddenly said.
"Huh? Why's that?" Anne asked.
"Don't tell me that their parents are blaming Anne for all this." Luz said.
"No, honestly, they weren't blaming anyone." Anne's mother explained. "But… here's the thing about Marcy's parents."
At this point, Luz began to catch on.
"… Please don't tell me what I think you're about to tell me…" Luz said.
They just stayed silent at this.
"… Those jerks…"
"Huh? What's going on?" Anne asked.
"… Remember when you told me that they were planning on moving before all of this?" Luz asked.
"… No…"
"I'm afraid so Anne… Marcy's parents moved out of state, without her."
Anne… just looked at them in shock.
"They… they just… left? Without her?"
"Afraid so…" Anne's father confirmed.
Anne just… sat there. Completely silent.
Then, without warning, she began glowing blue.
"Those… JERKS!"
A wave of energy just burst out of her, knocking a few things over.
Her parents were the most surprised by this, but they decided to ask later.
"I mean, I KNOW that they didn't have the BEST relationship with her in the world, but to just… LEAVE?!" Anne shouted. "How could they?!"
"Hey, calm down." Luz said.
"But…"
"Like I said, we'll fix all of this. Ok?" Luz said.
"… Ok…"
At that moment, the glowing stopped.
"You good?" Luz asked.
"Y-yeah… I will be." Anne said after stumbling a bit.
"Good… now, let's get something to eat."
"You'll be alright going back, right?" Luz asked.
"Yeah." Hunter said as he hopped onto his staff.
"Alright, thanks again for coming." Luz said.
"It's fine. Just promise me something." Hunter said. "Save that girl, no matter what."
"You got it." Luz said. "And before you go…"
Luz then handed Hunter a drawing.
"Huh? What is this?" He asked.
"Something I want you to tell Eda to look for in the Owl House." Luz explained. "I think I saw it in there somewhere."
"Alright, and what should she do with it?" Hunter asked.
"Just hold onto it, and make sure she has it readily available, just in case."
"… Alright."
And with that, Hunter left.
"What was that?" Amity asked.
"Just a little backup plan I have brewing." Luz explained.
And with that, they went back inside.
End of Chapter 2
Bit of a longer one, but I didn't really want to split anything up. So, there you go.
So, first we talked Amphibia, then we talked Owl House, now, let's talk about the timing of everything!
If you don't want to read this next paragraph and just say "It just works!" then go ahead.
Also keep in mind, I wrote this like, a couple of episodes into season 3, and I don't want to rewrite it, so some info will be guesswork on my part from that point.
So, Luz went to the Boiling Isles at the beginning of Summer, and got together with Amity at LEAST after the summer ended. This means that they got together around September to October, let's say end of September, I'll explain why later. Based off of a clip from the trailers, part of Amphibia Season 3 takes place around Christmas time, since we see some decorations, and we know that Anne was gone for five whole months. What makes it tricky is that Anne was in school at the time, during the school year, when she got trapped in Amphibia. It is my belief that the crossover thing that they did takes place BEFORE Anne met up with Sasha, since no-one really mentioned it, and Sprig and Polly were surprised that another Anne exists. We really don't know how long exactly that took to happen though, but we do know that it took Anne three months to find Marcy. Take in account traveling time from Wartwood to Newtopia, I am going to say that the meeting with Sasha happened just about two and a half months into their time in Amphibia. This means that it is possible that Anne's birthday, the day that they left, was at the very end of June, close to the end of the school year, and, she met Luz at the beginning of September, which, considering summer camps don't go until the VERY end of summer, you could say that this is the point just after Luz got the Echo Mouse and the kiss from Amity, WHICH MEANS that the crossover happened beginning to mid September! Two and a Half months later, it is November! That is when Anne returns to Earth, and when this story takes place. We have no clue how long it is going to take for Luz to get back though, so let's assume it is during October… actually, that would make perfect sense all things considered.
And there you go! An actual explanation as to how this whole crossover works in terms of the timeline! I put way too much effort into doing that…
AND THEN MATT BRALY JUST COMES OUT OF NO-WHERE AND CONFIRMS THAT ANNE DOES, IN FACT, RETURN TO EARTH LATE FALL, SO PROBABLY NOVEMBER! DON'T KNOW IF I SHOULD BE PROUD OR UPSET ABOUT ALL THIS!
Ahem… anyways… uh…
Something else that is important to bring up: Hunter.
Yup, Hunter is in this story! He will show up again later too, but I wanted to talk about him a bit.
In the story "Love Duel" I mentioned that that story would be the only time I write the character. I decided to come around and include him here. This is already a big AU, between the Pseudo Blood and everything else, so I decided that Hunter should live. The events of the Day of Unity in this universe are most certainly going to be different from the official version already, so I figured it wouldn't hurt.
And finally, a personal note. This is going to be the last chapter of anything I post this year. This means I have accomplished a goal of mine that I had all year: I posted at least 1 chapter of something every single week!… Give or take. There might of been a slight gap between a couple of my works, not 100% sure on that, it was so long ago.
Thanks to everyone who read not only my Owl House and Amphibia stories, but all of them really. I have a lot planned for 2022, and I can't wait to share some of it!
There will be laughs, angst, reunions, and… a musical number? Not all necessarily in order, and not all in this story. Please, look forward to it all!
So, until next year… see you next time!
