A/N- You don't ever want to know where this fic came from! You do want to know that I am not an owner or creator of Fullmetal Alchemist. I am only a fan.
"Rooooy. Please?" It was the rarest of events. Riza Hawkeye was whining. And it was Roy Mustang's fault, no matter how you looked at it. No doubt she had learned to whine from him, and now he was the one who was trying to ignore or refuse her urgent request, no, demand. There was almost nothing that he wouldn't do for her, but this task was so onerous…
It took him back to his teen years. Aunt Chris had made him perform the chore of buying the hideous supplies for his sisters. Why him? The girls were much more suited to it. It wasn't like they were synchronized! (He had heard rumors that that could happen.) They were never all that way at the same time.
"What if the drug store doesn't have Sweet and Secure mediums? Do I get another brand? Another whatever it is? Strength? Send someone who uses these… things," he begged with horror.
But, it was all to no avail. He had trudged to the drug store, and of course, the totally hot Georgia Fox (Yes! That was her name!) was there with two of her besties. He had folded a newspaper around the box, and he had looked for a path that avoided the girls. Before he could get to the cashier, the manager had caught him by the collar and yelled, "Are you trying to leave without paying? What have you got here?" That had gotten the girls' attention, and they burst out laughing. They hadn't even tried to hide their giggles as he'd walked by them the next day in school.
There are just certain things that a man should not have to do.
But, this was Riza. She rarely complained, and he knew that she must be having a bad one if she was asking for this favor. He leaned over to where she was lying on the sofa with the hot water bottle, and he kissed her forehead.
It was 10:15 PM, so he had to go to the all night pharmacy, about 10 blocks away. It was a nice night, so he thought that he'd take Hayate for a walk. But Riza didn't want to be "left alone," and she wanted Roy back as soon as possible. So he would drive.
"Can I get you anything else?"
As he walked out the door, he heard a shrill, "Chocolates. I want chocolates!"
As an adult male, the deed was not quite as embarrassing as it had been when he was a teen. It was just… icky. At least there were no girls to laugh at him in school the next day. He grabbed the requested mortifying item and a box of Aerugo Gold Label Chocolates. Riza sure did seem to crave them during that time of the month. He got into the checkout line.
"Colonel? Is that you?" asked a familiar voice. He wanted to ignore it, but how could he? He turned. Two pairs of eyes widened as they focused on his purchases.
"Havoc? Breda? What are you doing in this part of town?"
Breda, clutching a bag of pretzels and one of potato chips, replied. "We heard that there was a really great new bar a few blocks away, so we went to check it out. It wasn't that good. We didn't meet any girls, so we left. They didn't have Havoc's brand of cigs, so here we are. What are you doing here?"
Yeah. It's the bar's fault that they couldn't pick up girls, thought Roy.
Since they had seen what he was purchasing, he told them that he had been on a dinner date with Georgia. The only name (except for Riza) that came to mind. Georgia who forever was associated with this type of product in his brain.
"Don't remember you mentioning a Georgia. Tough luck!" Havoc exclaimed nodding at the horrific box with a grin. Roy shrugged.
"See you gentlemen bright and early tomorrow," Roy said, as if he were always at work before everyone else.
"Yes, Sir!" chorused his subordinates.
Good grief, he thought. That was close. What if he had walked Hayate? They would have learned that he and Riza… The cat would have been out of the bag. (No offense intended, Hayate.) He got into his car, and just to be on the safe side, he steered the auto in the direction opposite from Riza's place for a couple of blocks before turning back.
Back at her place, he handed her those infernal things and then the chocolates. Her look of pure joy was thanks enough.
Despite her condition, Lieutenant Hawkeye was the first person in the office the next day. When Breda walked in with Havoc trailing behind, the first thing that he noticed was the box of Aerugo Gold Label Chocolates on Hawkeye's desk. Havoc still has a bruise where Breda punched him on the arm.
A/N-Thanks for reading. I hope that you enjoyed. I'd love reviews, if you feel like it. Take care.
