Chapter 7: Return
"Anne… hey Anne, wake up!" Luz whispered, waking Anne up from her slumber.
"Mmmm… huh?" Anne groaned out, very groggy. "Luz? What's up?"
"Pack your things, we're going to Amphibia right now." Luz said.
"WH-"
"Shhhhhh…" Luz said, covering Anne's mouth with her hand. "I don't want to wake anyone up."
Anne didn't know why Luz wanted that, but just nodded her head, before the two of them went outside.
"But… don't we want them to come with us?" Anne asked.
Luz just looked down about this.
"Luz?"
"Sorry Anne… but this method… it'll only work if it's just us two." Luz explained.
"… Luz? What's going on?" Anne asked.
"… I got in contact with Andrias." Luz said to Anne's shock. "He's going to open a portal for us, one leading straight into his throne room."
"What?!" Anne whispered, though she almost was too loud. "This is clearly a trap!"
"Yeah, I know." Luz said. "But don't worry, I have a plan."
"Still, I'd feel safer if we had backup!" Anne said.
"He won't open the portal if we bring backup." Luz explained. "It has to be us two."
"But…"
"Don't worry… like I said, I have a plan." Luz said. "I… I don't like how Andrias has a plan for Marcy… I am sure we can find another way to Amphibia, but it might take too long. This is the best way to make sure Marcy is safe."
"… Alright." Anne said. "I really hope you know what you're doing Luz."
"I wouldn't be doing this if I didn't." Luz said.
"… Right…"
When Amity woke up the next morning, she was surprised to see that Luz was already gone.
What surprised her even more was the fact that she left a note.
When she read it though, she was filled with worry.
Quickly getting out of bed, she went downstairs, to see the Plantars and Boonchuys all looking really worried.
"So… She left you guys a note too?" Amity asked.
"Oh yeah…" Sprig said as he held a note up.
"Dear Everyone,
We're going to Amphibia, see you soon.
Luz and Anne."
"… Luz, you idiot…" Amity groaned out.
"So… you ready?" Luz asked, Bluebert on her shoulder.
"Yeah… I'm ready." Anne said, once again equipped with her breastplate.
The two of them stood in the junk yard from the day before, waiting for the portal to open.
Before long, the area in front of them began to glow, as a portal to Amphibia opened.
"Right… let's go kick a giant blue lizard's butt." Luz said as she stepped through.
Anne began to follow, but not before taking one last look back.
There would be no turning back after this point.
With newfound resolve, Anne stepped through the portal.
When she reached the other side though, she was very afraid.
"WOW! I can't believe you actually let me lure you into a trap like that!" Andrias said with a laugh. "I mean, that was so obvious!"
Anne just gave Luz a pointed look.
"Please, we can handle anything you dish out at us!" Luz said as Bluebert turned into a staff.
Anne just put her fists up, ready to fight.
"… Seriously? You are surrounded by hundreds of robots, and me, and you really think you can win?" Andrias asked.
"Please, like you're anything special." Luz said smugly.
Andrias didn't respond verbally, and just pulled out his sword.
"… That sword though, might be."
"So, what's your plan?" Anne asked.
"Depends, think you can use those powers of yours?" Luz asked.
"What?! That's your plan? Having me use a power I have no idea how to use?!" Anne asked.
"Guess that's a no…" Luz said. "Ok, here."
She then gave Anne a pile of fire glyphs and an invisibility glyph.
"Hold your breath while using that one." Luz said as she pointed to the invisibility glyph. "Then put the fire ones on as many robots as you can."
"Right." Anne said before using the invisibility glyph, Luz doing the same.
"What the… where did they go?!" Andrias asked. "Find them! Don't let them escape!"
The robots all began searching the room, but even with their sensors, they could not find the two humans.
'OK… good to know the robots can't see us…' Luz thought as she put a fire glyph on another robot.
Eventually though, the two of them couldn't hold their breath any longer, as they suddenly appeared, Luz right behind the King.
"Ah! There you are!" Andrias said as he used his tail to swat Luz away.
"Luz!" Anne shouted.
"Well then, that sure was a fun game of hide and seek… but it ends now." Andrias said.
"Yeah, about that." Luz said as she slammed her staff onto the ground.
And just like that, all of the fire glyphs activated, destroying the vast majority of the robots, as well as causing a bit of damage to Andrias.
"Grrr… crafty little witch, aren't you?" Andrias asked.
"Yeah, I get that a lot." Luz said smugly. "That should even the odds a bit!"
"You still have to deal with me!" Andrias said as he swung his sword down towards Luz, who dodged to the side before hopping onto Bluebert and flying around.
She then used some ice glyphs to create a bunch of icicles, which she fired at Andrias and a few remaining robots.
Anne watched her do this, and decided to try it with some of her leftover fire glyphs. The result was a fireball, destroying a single robot.
"Oh wow! That is cool!" Anne said.
"Keep that up! I'll take care of Andrias!" Luz said, continuing to fly around, firing various spells at the king.
He responded by swinging his blade in her direction, causing a wave of fire to go towards her. She managed to dodge, but barely.
Luz then fired several beams of light, some from a light glyph, and some from Bluebert's magic.
They all hit their mark, but Andrias didn't seem too injured by this.
Anne, meanwhile wasn't having the best time. Every time she dodged a robot's attack, she was greeted by another one. It was getting to the point where she couldn't even fight back.
It didn't take long for a robot to get a lucky shot on her, sending her flying into a nearby pillar.
"Anne!" Luz shouted.
That brief moment of distraction was all Andrias needed, as he managed to swat Luz out of the air with his fist, sending her hurdling towards the ground, Bluebert landing right next to her.
"Well then, that was a bit more annoying than I expected." Andrias said. "But it's all over now."
"Ugh… Luz… now would be a really good time for a backup plan!" Anne said.
"… I guess there's no helping it." Luz said. "Anne, you trust me, right?"
"Yeah! I think that was obvious when I came here with you!" Anne said.
"Ok…" Luz said. "Andrias, I just have one question for you."
"Oh? Ok, I'll humor you." Andrias said.
"Where's Marcy?!" Luz asked.
"Oh, is that all?" Andrias asked. "Well, before now, I kept her right here in the throne room with me… however, since I didn't want her to be caught in the fight, I decided to move her to a hidden area in the basement."
"The basement… got it." Luz said with a smirk.
"You're acting like you're going to be able to get out of this!" Andrias said. "You do know that's impossible, right?"
"Psh, you have no idea what I am capable of." Luz said smugly.
"You have magic paper, big whoop." Andrias said with an eye roll.
"Yeah, but I also have a staff." Luz said. "A staff that lets me activate those glyphs remotely."
"What's your point?" Andrias asked. "I mean really, I gathered all of that already. You already set off all your fire glyphs that you set."
"Yeah… but who said that I HAD to activate them all at once?" Luz asked. "And… who said I was targeting only you and your robots?"
"… No…"
"Luz?"
"Sorry Anne! But I have to do this!" Luz said as she slammed the end of her staff into the ground.
At that moment, Anne followed Luz and Andrias' gaze, as they both began to look to the throne…
Towards the Music Box…
As a fiery explosion suddenly caused it to completely shatter.
End of Chapter 7
So, let's get the obvious question out of the way: Why did Luz not do this plan to bring Anne to Amphibia in the first place?
For starters, Luz never knew for sure if Andrias knew where they lived. It was possible with Cloak-Bot finding them, but not for sure. Secondly, well… that will be revealed next time.
Next up I want to say something. It is looking like Season 2B of The Owl House will be starting up soon, within the next month probably. As such, I think it is important to point out that everything that happens in Season 2B didn't happen in this story, or at the very least, happened very differently.
Kinda alluded to this in the past, but yes, we WILL be taking a look at this universe's version of The Day of Unity one day. Still got a ways to go before that, heck, season 2 of the show might even end before then depending on how long it takes until it starts. I just wanted you all to know that the events that happen in canon are very different than what happened here.
Alright, now that that's done: This was a pretty short chapter, so I'll post the next one this weekend I think. See you then!
… Oh, and the first oneshot should be out within a week or two.
