A Million Ways to End a Story
She had once heard that there were a million ways to end a story.
It was a question she tried to answer each and every day.
How could there be a million ways to end a story? Her story was always the same, and it looked like there was only one way it was going to end.
How could it be?
As she pondered this question, she wandered aimlessly down the promenade. Normally, she would have taken someone along and window shopped, but not today. Today was the day she was going to find out how her story was going to end.
Several people were calling for her, trying to get her attention, but she ignored them.
They were insignificant compared to what she was about to do.
She slowly approached the manor at the edge of town.
At the iron bars, she seemed to hesitate, but then she remembered the saying.
'Today's the day…I'll find out how my story is going to end. Nothing will stop me!' With that resolve, she pushed open the iron gates and entered the silent compound.
Although she wasn't entirely sure where she was headed, she continued on. The eerie silence of the place reminded her of its horrible past.
'No.' She scolded herself. 'Thinking about that will only make me loose my resolve.' The noise metal makes when it is embedded into wood showed her the way. "Fight me." She commanded the person training there.
He lifted a surprised eyebrow, but took a fighting stance.
"Let's begin." The two leapt at each other, one attacking and the other always meeting it head on with a block.
For the first time ever, she knew how a story could have a million endings. There were so many different possible outcomes of this battle that almost made her head spin.
'I've found my answer to that question at least…what about my story though?'
"You've improved…Sakura…" The man who stood before her stated.
"So have you…Sasuke-kun…"
