Winter had finally come to Fodlan and the festive season had begun. People all over Fodlan were decorating theirs homes with colorful ribbons of red, gold, white, and green. Children were running around getting into snowball fights and building snowmen. People were coming to decorate the trees and hot warm meals were being handed out. Merchants were getting their places ready for the 2nd of the Ethereal Moon, where a festival will be held in town. But just because the festivities have come, there are a few who detest the cold atmosphere.
"Come on, give it a try!"
"My friend, Faerghus blood may run through my veins but I am NOT a winter person! So no, I am not attempting ice skating ever again!" Arisa gritted her teeth as she only wrapped herself further into her blanket.
The ball was nearby and so was The Day of Blessings, also known as Christmas. Students and adults alike were all going back and forth between the monastery and town for shopping. It never ceased to amaze Arisa just how lively the people of Fodlan would get when it came to holidays like in her past life. Decorations were all around, ribbons of colors of green, silver, gold, red, and white were tied along with the ceilings and lantern poles. Snow fae and even the animals were excited about the upcoming events. The brownies that worked in cleaning the hallways and dorms were in bliss because of the treats the students would leave them as a thank you for their work. Arisa loved Christmas more than anything in the world. Shopping for gifts was especially her favorite thing to do. But, there was always one thing she dreaded about the holidays.
Winter.
"Oh, come on!" Alexandra slapped her hand on the door, "You only tried ice skating once! And that's was 15 years ago! Come on Ari! Give it a chance!" The woman pleaded and Amir shook her head.
"Come on, Arisa. Also, get out of your room already! It's not that cold." Amir said and Arisa snorted.
"She's not coming out." Chris sighed and turned to his friends, "Alright, looks like we have no choice but to get...him." He looked so grave.
"Dimitri?"
"No."
"Jeralt."
"No."
"Then who?" The two women said and Chris had never looked so serious in his life.
"Seteth."
"That's overkill..." The two women said and Chris just shook his head, "Besides, she's not the only one like this. You should have seen Flayn and Crescent! Kaimu and Jaden already look like mini puffballs. He's currently hanging out with the others. Annette, Mercedes, and Dorothea are playing with the kids along with Lestia." Alexandra said as the others nodded.
Lestia had now woken up and healed, and was informed of everything that happened. The poor girl looked like she was going to have a heart attack had her brother not calmed her down. Arisa also reassured her that she was always welcome to pay her respects to Florencio. But her now, Arisa had left the twins alone to work things out.
Something else had also happened because Dimitri had been visiting Abyss a lot to speak to Pollux. Some part of Arisa felt a bit uncomfortable that the boy was speaking so much to the girl. Sothis had that smug look and would whisper, "You're jealous." In her ears. But Arisa told her to quit it and took a deep breath as she huddled closer to her blanket.
"Everyone get inside! The blizzard is going here in two hours!" Catherine's voice rang out all over the campus and students were quick to get in.
Sothis could hear her children cursing over a mile away because of the cold. She waited two hours to pass before she peeked out the door to make there was no one outside. Hai being the bold one, was happy to stay outside. Sadly Alexandra didn't have that much immunity to the cold so she had to retire to her room. Arisa noticed the wind picking up and just as she was about to close the door, a hand slammed onto the head edge, making her scream.
"I-I'm so sorry, Professor! May we come in?!" Dimitri gasped for air, covered in snow and Arisa also noticed that Lestia, Yuri, Claude, Petra, and Edelgard were with him.
"What the hell are you all going out last minute?! Get in here!" She yelled and quickly opened her door.
"Sorry, Teach!" Claude laughed and got a smack on the head before she pulled them all inside. Arisa grunted and with all her might pushed her door closed and finally, the blizzard hit. Edelgard yelped when she saw Red Hare, Hessian, Blanca, Feh, and Hersvelg in the woman's room. All the pets in their beds that Arisa had personally made for them. Of course, Red Hare was shrunk to the size of a dog. Even more, surprised the House Leaders were when they looked around her room. It hadn't changed much but it certainly was a mess.
"Seriously, what were you all thinking?" Arisa huffed as she walked up to each of them and patted off the snow, "What on earth were you all to get caught in the cold?" She said as finished and went to her table where her mini heat stone plate to warm up water for them.
"Well, if you want us to be honest, we were discussing plans for our homes." Claude grinned and Arisa raised an eyebrow at them as she went to the shelf to pick up a jar that had hot chocolate powder.
"Yes. Will we be still in classes, we discussed a lot about different forms of rulerships from the books written by Cecilia Schariac." Petra said and Arisa choked on her spit for a bit.
"That's good! I've heard she has traveled a lot around the world to learn about different legends and myths." Arisa said as she started making their drinks, "Also, go ahead and have a seat all of you. You're welcome to read what is on the shelves." She said and heard footsteps approaching.
"Let me help you. We can't have you doing everything yourself." Dimitri said as he carefully picked up a mug.
Edelgard, Petra, and Claude were awed at their professor's collection of books, and Yuri and Lestia sat quietly at the table. Petra blinked as her eyes landed on the spine of a cream-colored book. She carefully pulled it out and raised an eyebrow as she looked through the pages.
Claude and Edelgard peeked over her shoulder and noticed several of the pages had scribbles, small little notes written on the edges that said to fix a sentence structure, or more details to be added. The trio carefully began to read the pages and then realize that they were reading an unedited version of Fire Emblem: Awakening. More pages they flipped through and noticed some sketches of a man which they presumed to be Prince Chrom and then one page that was marked with a pencil.
"Huh...there is a little note." Petra whispered and pulled it out reading it, "Make sure to fix those errors I marked. This may be a prototype but work on your spelling. But the book had been approved so two more reversions and then it will be published." She said and Claude's eyes slowly widened before the princess quickly closed the book and saw the front of the cover.
Prototype of Fire Emblem Awakening Novel Version.
The trio looked at each other and then to the book and then at each other once more. Then it clicked. They slowly looked at Arisa who was busy putting snacks on the table while Lestia and Yuri thanked her.
"So..." Claude turned to them, "how do we bring the subject up?" He said and Edelgard quickly got the book and took a deep breath as they walked to the table to sit.
"Alright, hot chocolate for everyone. I also have some extra water to heat you if guys want tea instead." Arisa said as she sat down and the prince joined them, "Hm...what that in your hands, Edelgard?"
The princess put the book down on the table Arisa's smile froze. Yuri, Lestia, and Dimitri stared at it for good 30 seconds before slowly turning back to her.
"Busted," Sothis smirked in her ear as Arisa was processing what the group was looking at. The woman coughed and avoided eyes even though she could feel them on her as if they were looking into her soul.
"So Professor, what is this?" Edelgard said and Arisa coughed, composing herself.
"Well, no use in hiding it. I was going to reveal it eventually." Arisa thought before she spoke, "As you can see it's a book." She began and everyone just looked at with a blank face, "In all seriousness, yes. That is the prototype of the book that I wrote. I am Cecilia Schariac." She said and for some reason, the words leaving her mouth made her feel a sense of relief.
"...OKAY HOW ON EARTH DO YOU KNOW SO MUCH?!"
"Does Ylisse actually exist?!"
"Please, Professor! Tell us more about the stories!"
"Alright, why have you been hiding this?! "
"I want to know why you know all this!"
"Explain!"
"One at a time!" Arisa chuckled as she placed her cup down, "First, there is only one person to who I ever told my identity. Unfortunately, they have already passed away." She smiled sadly as Christophe came to her mind, "Second, I had to hide my identity due to safety reasons." She sighed as she once more picked up her cup, "Fodlan was very different while growing up. My father worried for my safety so I went through different identities. Edelgard and Dimitri known as Kiana grew up. Claude of course already knew who was because I was his mentor before I met you two. And Petra, things here in Fodlan were more dangerous." Arisa said and the princess nodded.
"I have understanding. Back in my homeland, I would pretend to be someone to be able to visit the city. So it is alright." Petra said and Arisa smiled softly.
"But seriously, Professor," Yuri said as he was flipping through the book, "I'm surprised your books were even published throughout Fodlan. I mean...don't get me wrong they are amazing but I'm surprised the Chruch didn't hunt you down considering a lot of what is written here is considered heresy." He said and Arisa let out a nervous laugh as she scratched her cheek. "Well...I found a loophole in the publishing system." Claude leaned in closer, "I figured I could publish my books through the publishing system of The Alliance because the church had very little influence there. And well...you saw how successful it was." She picked up her cup and took a sip.
"Teach, you scare me sometimes."
Arisa couldn't help but laugh as bit as she put her cup down and shook her head.
"I wanted to share the stories and history of different nations. Archanea...Valentia...and so many more." She muttered, "All the people in the stories are real or were real at some point in time." She said as the boy put down the book.
"I have so many questions but I mean, Teach, don't you know a bit too much? You know like that warning you always gave me, "Careful with what you know." Claude said and again, she only smiled.
"I think this also explains your knowledge in other magic arts." Lestia said as she picked up the book and flipped through the pages, "But I still feel there's something else you're not telling us."
"Everyone has their secrets. Some are better to remain in the dark." Arisa sighed, "But in all seriousness, I'm glad you're all here. I have been...wanting to discuss with you all The Flame Emperor and the Agarthans."
The house leaders went silent as the air in the room became tense. Edelgard eyes became half-lidded as Arisa took a deep breath and spoke.
"As future leaders of your nations, I'm sure you all have figured out that you will all face many challenges. One of those challenges will be the enemies we fought and that have attacked Remire Village. Not just them...many have been harmed by The Agarthans." Arisa said as she looked at them one by one.
"Rhea won't do anything and if worst-case scenario, there is a possibility that she may even cover up what has happened. I will tell you all now since I was your age, I have been investigating the incidents of people disappearing and I found that they have been responsible for many tragedies." She said and noticed how Claude narrowed his eyes.
"I can not speak of what I have discovered put I promise you all this." She took a deep breath and spoke, "I swear to you all I will do everything in my power to destroy the Agarthans that have caused so much suffering. And...when the time comes, I will tell you all everything I know." She said but there was something else that she refrained from saying.
"One day...I will tell you all who I really am." She thought and watched the mixed expressions all the students had but her focus was on Edelgard.
"My teacher...can I ask why you are going too far to bring the enemy down?" Edelgard said, "The Church has done many crimes and has silenced all those who opposed them. Who knows what they have hidden." She said and Arisa let out a sigh.
"I know what you mean. It's one of the main reasons my father hid me from the church for so long. But..." she picked up her book and stared at the cover, "Is it also right to just stand back and watch? Think about it." She looked at Edelgard, "The Agarthans have kidnapped people throughout the years and experimented on them. Have you spoken to Pollux?" Arisa said and Dimitri raised his hand.
"Lestia and I have. Sylvain spoke to her as well Sadi. What we learned is that Solon was planning to sell her and her brother to an Empire and Faerghus noble. And...other disturbing things." The prince sighed and Lestia spoke up.
"Did you know that her people are becoming infertile and those that can be reproduced are taken and locked away?" Lestia and Arisa's eyes widened the plates of saucers as did the others.
"No, I did not know that." Arisa as she placed her hands on her lips, "Sothis, did you?" Arisa thought and felt the Goddess shake her head, "I think we should investigate more about the Agarthans. Pollux is safe but we need to also save Castor." Sothis muttered softly.
"...A dystopian society..." Arisa muttered, "Did Pollux mention that people would turn on each other or turn in friends and family if they disobeyed the laws of their rulers? Or if they even tried to escape or rebel were killed? What about...burning books?" She said and everyone was too shocked to speak at her words.
"...Yes. Pollux said all those things." Lestia said and Arisa crossed her arms letting out a sigh.
"More questions...more dangers." Arisa sighed again, "I'm going to be busy for sure..."
"The room is getting too tense so let's change the subject!" Lestia grinned because she knew how things were going, "Oh Professor, who are choosing the White Heron Cup!?" The princess giggled in excitement while the prince felt his life flash before his eyes.
Claude and Yuri were smirked while the girls were hiding their smiles. Arisa already knew Manuela, Chris, and Hanneman had chosen the house leaders but for their partners, that she did not know.
"Oh, I know who I am picking." Arisa giggled mischievously, "But it's secret until tomorrow." She couldn't help but giggle excitedly at the thought.
- The Next Day -
The blizzard had passed by and dressed in her dark green winter coat, pants, mittens, boots, and ushanka, Arisa looked like a walking puff ball of fur but she still had an elegant look. Yet right now as she walked through the hallways...
She. Was. Still. Cold.
At least the heated stone was helping her out a bit but she still needed to catch up with the others. Today was finally the day she was going to tell Dimitri she had chosen him and Lestia for The White Heron Cup. Arisa couldn't help but giggle in excitement as she waddled to the training grounds. Ah, she already knows the perfect dance for them and was already imagining the costumes that would fit them. Perhaps Swan Lake or The Nut Craker would be perfect since it was the time of the holidays.
"Ah, that's right." Arisa clapped her hands together, "I remember Manuela made it mandatory for everyone in her class to attend her dance class. Hmm...alright, I'll make it mandatory for everyone to attend. Extra credit if they dance well." She beamed and continued her way to the place.

Thank!
Hua!
"Hup!"
Dimitri groaned along with Claude and Ferdinand as they were knocked down to the ground, hard. The tips of two training lances were pointed at them and the owner had a playful look. Alexandra had a smug grin as she looked down at them. Their movements had improved but she still felt something was missing. It didn't help she caught the three house leaders helping Claude practice his high jump arrow shot but she had to admit, it was cool seeing him do it in real life. She pulled her lances away and smiled.
"Not bad you three. You're keeping up. Dimitri, I am impressed you finally incorporated the Sreng lance techniques into your movements. Good job." The prince grinned and nodded as she helped him stand up and patted him on his shoulder.
"Alright, Ferdinand. I see your movements have become more fluid. You must have been practicing sword dancing with Dorothea, Henry, and Marianne, correct?" The young man coughed and saw the smirk Claude was giving him but nodded, "Good job. Keep at it."
"Now Claude." Alexandra's tone changed a little but she nodded in approval, "Your posture could use more work but you are improving. Try to focus on the movements of your Wyvern a bit more. Other than that, good job" she grinned and helped him up.
"You guys aren't showing us any mercy." Claude grumbled, "Makes sense since the White Heron is close." He said and noticed how Dimitri cleared his throat, "Arisa is going to choose you."
"I think not. She has been busy." Dimitri said back and Ferdinand knew that wasn't it, "Besides," the prince smiled, "with the White Heron Cup two weeks away, I believe she may choose Mercedes or Annette to represent the Blue Lions House."
"...Heh..." The prince turned to look at Alexandra with a confused expression, "Heheheh...Hehehehe..." she chuckled darkly, "Oh Dimitri...I don't think that is going to happen." She smirked.
"What do y-" He suddenly went silent as slowly his eyes widened, "Arisa is going to choose me, isn't she?" And Alexandra began shaking, trying to hold back her laughter as did the others.
"Alexandra." She had never seen him look so serious, "I beg of you, please convince Arisa to choose someone else as the Blue Lion's representative. I am utterly serious." At this point, the said woman lost it.
"My lips are sealed!" She began walking away, still trying to recover from her laughing fit as did the others.
"Alexandra, please! She'll be damning us all if she chooses me!" The prince ran after her but froze on the spot once he saw Arisa entering the training grounds.
"Don't worry, Your Highness." Claude smirked, "You'll charm every last one of them." And then he saw her, "Oh. Go hide. I got you." And Dimitri ran.
Arisa looked around the place till she spotted Claude and Ferdinand, the look on their faces serious but for now, she decided to speak to them.
"Good morning, you two!" She waved and the two quickly turned to her with a smile, something was up, "Alright, what's wrong? The smile you two have is forced." She enjoyed how they froze, "Oh boys ~" she closed her eyes and smiled, "You're not trying to hide Dimitri now are you?" They were sweating.
Her smile only seemed to become brighter and brighter till both wilted like flowers and pointed to the indoor training room door. She let a happy chirp before scurrying away to meet the prince. Meanwhile, in the room, the prince could just feel doom coming his way as Dedue and his sister chatted regarding training regiments.
"Oh Dimitri! Lestia! Dedue!"
The prince flinched and turned around only to see the most joyful smile of impending doom, surrounded by a flowery aura. But Dimitri knew that smile better than anyone in the academy. It was the same smile Arisa would have whenever the topic of dance training came up. The prince recalled the old days of instruction when she would teach him, his friends, and siblings how to dance. A type of dance called ballet was graceful, elegant but good lords, the agony and pain they went through when she had them stretch. She was a strict Professor that showed no mercy in her ways of teaching.
"I want you all to be able to touch the floor with your foreheads when you stretch. And if you can't do a split by the end of the semester, looks like we got some work to do ~"
He could already hear her singing voice as she made his way to them. He tried to make a run for it but Dedue and Lestia chose to betray him by blocking the way. He glared at them but all they did was smile and she finally arrived! The prince slow turned around with a shaky smile and spoke.
"H-Hello, Professor! What are you doing here early in the morning?" How much he wanted to slap himself for saying that.
All Arisa did was smile.
"Dimitri, please do not try to run from me," Arisa said as she finally managed to corner the boy in the training room. She had to thank Lestia and Dedue for that.
"Forgive me, professor." Dimitri shifted a bit nervously, "It is just that..." he avoided eye contact with her, "I heard a rumor that you have been observing our movements."
"Yes. That is true. I have been recommending those that will be taking the swordmaster or assassin exam to watch the movements of dancers. It is beneficial for them since each strike must be with the intent to kill. It is also a way to help them improve with their flexibility." Arisa explained as she was trying not to smile.
"I see..." The prince muttered and he looked over at his friend for help.
"Pardon me, Professor, but I remembered I have promised Bernadetta and Mercedes to teach them how to tend the moonflowers that have been imported from Sreng." Dedue suddenly said with a small smile and Dimitri felt betrayed.
"No problem." Arisa gave her student a smile of reassurance, "If you have chores and such to do, do not let me stop you. Do tell Bernie and Mercie for me that I will be speaking with them later regarding their exam results." and Dedue nodded, excusing himself.
There was a bit of an awkward silence till Arisa spoke again.
"Ah, now I remember." She smiled a bit as she turned to the prince, "Regarding the White Heron." There was suddenly a wicked glint in her eyes, "I have decided that you and Lestia will represent the Blue Lions!" She clapped her hands excitedly together and the twins gawked.
Dimitri was expecting it but Lestia?!
"We still have two weeks left till the ball so I posted a poster on the bulletin board that all students of the main classes are the four houses are to report to the grand hall where the ball will take place." She began to explain, "Manuela and I noticed the majority of you don't know how to dance." Arisa chuckled softly and looked at them fondly.
"Professor, don't get me wrong but why me? I mean, Annette makes a better partner for Dimitri. Heck, even Felix. Now I want to see Felix." Lestia hummed at the sight.
"Please you two, trust me. I promise you won't regret this. And, how about a deal?" She smiled as she raised her index finger, "If the Blue Lions win the White Heron Cup, I will grant you one wish. It could be anything as long as it is within my power and isn't inappropriate." She said and the twins looked at each other.
Dimitri remained silent but in the end, agreed.
"Alright, we'll do it. Curse you Professor. I of course will do it but know you have damned us all." He said and Lestia couldn't help burst out laughing as she put her arms over their shoulders.
"Now big brother! Don't be so discouraged! Also, Zander is coming along with Kira and the others!" Lestia grinned and Arisa looked at her shocked.
"Oh my, looks like it's going to be 1174 all over again! Everyone is going to be present! Even a few of the adults like Rodrigue, Judith, and such!" Sothis clapped her hands excitedly.
"I look forward to it."

The days were going by and winter and the festivities were coming closer. Dancers, merchants, and people of all kinds were arriving and setting up their stalls. Decorations were in full swing and the gates to the city finally opened. Students poured out of the academy like a stampede to buy presents, food, and much more. Arisa was a simple woman, she had already planned but wanted to buy a few more things, especially with the twin's birthday coming up. She walked through the marketplace and spotted some of the students buying things. She couldn't help but smile softly as she made her way through the crowd and to the tavern. The tavern was full but there was a private room at the top that her friends and family would go meet in.
Up the stairs, she went and the first sight is she is greeted is...Anna's face was planted on the table and Alexandra patted her back. Jeralt was shaking his head as Sandana was a laughing mess. Gina was cowardly behind the desk with a blanket over her.
"I refuse to dance!" Gina yelled and Anna ugly stood up, "We need a dancer for the opening ceremony! Come on, Gina!" Anna pleaded and Arisa was just confused.
"Could someone explain to me what is going on? Dad?" Arisa looked to her father, who just shook his head.
"You know how we had dances during time of year in Remire Village?" She nodded, "Well, the Church has a tradition that before the ball, they have an opening dance ceremony to commemorate the goddess. Anna here was put in charge of finding a dancer for this but the ones she chose bailed out. So she chose Gina." He said but Gina shook her head again while Chris was trying to calm her down.
"I have a reason and I'm not saying way! It's personal." Gina grumbled and Chris sighed, "Alright, love. You know we would never force you to do such a thing." Chris said.
"I volunteer. It's been a while since I've danced for the gods. I miss it." Sandana said and Anna was on her knees, her hand up the air yelled, " Hallelujah! I've been saved!" Anna whipped out her bag and pulled out three dresses.
"Wait a damn minute...Is that Feroxi, Valla, and Plegain Dancer Dresses?!" Arisa screeched and the redhead had a smug look as she spoke.
"My mother had these bad boys locked up in the closet! So the dance starts with the Plegain dress to represent the afterlife. The Feroxi one represents Earth. and Valla one to represent the soul and the Fodlan one to represent the heart. In the order I just said, the dresses are switched using magic. And since Sandana is dancing, you end the dance with your Almyran dancer dress!" The woman winked and the warrior was excited.
"But, won't Rhea get mad?" Alexandra said, "This is the first hearing of this."
"Oh, easy." Anna waved her hand without any care, "The Plegia, Ferox, and Valla dresses are supposed to be brown, red, and blue Fodlanese dresses. I just chose to switch it up a bit." Anna winked and they could help but laugh.
"So, have you done your shopping yet? After the ball, I'm going to spend some alone time with my wife." Chris said and Gina looked away with a smile on her face.
"Dad, I know you wanted to ask Miss Charlotte to dance with you," She grinned and Jeralt rolled his eyes but spoke.
"About that kid." He was a bit hesitant it continued, "You know I loved your mother more than anything in the world. Are you fine with me seeing someone else?" He said and there were so many shocking expressions.
Arisa was stunned by this but closed her eyes and nodded. She smiled softly as she walked up and held his hands.
"Dad, I know you loved Mom very much. And I know she loved you very much as well. But I also know she wouldn't want you to grieve her forever. She wants you to be happy and move forward. To continue your life. Dad, it's okay if you are with Miss Charlotte. I want you to be happy." Arisa said softly and Jeralt couldn't help chuckle as he nodded.
"Thank you, kid. Really." He said and Arisa smiled, "Do you want me to help you get a gift?"
"I'm alright." Jeralt shook his head, "I have something in mind."
"Speaking of gifts!" Alex chirped, "I finished getting mine yesterday."
"I got mine as well." Amir said, "Hope you all like your gifts." She grinned.

The vendor that sold the gems and stones she needed thankfully was not busy. She spotted some people but most of all, she walked up to the vendor and spoke.
"Hello, I put in an order at the beginning of the month. Name is Arisa." She said and the vendor looked at their notepad and nodded.
"I'm curious. Why so many gems?" They asked and all she did was give a look that said "None of your business." the vendor sighed but nodded. Saying to wait a moment. Sothis was curious as to what Arisa was planning. After Arisa got her order and thanked them, straight back to the academy she went, locking her doors, and placing a barrier. She let go of a sighed as she placed the gems on her table and went to light up her cauldron. Sothis manifested herself and looked curiously at the table.
"Wyverns scales. Fae-sheded wings. Blood of fallen soul. Witch hazel. And finally...Sirius seed." Arisa muttered as she picked the ingredients from her shelf along with a bottle with two crystal-like seeds.
She returned to her table and noticed Sothis was looking around.
"This is the same recipe from four years ago when you made the children those pieces of jewelry." Sothis said as Arisa began to grind the wyvern scales, "Are you planning to recreate the spell?" The Goddess looked at her friend worried.
"Not exactly." Arisa said as she moved onto the next step, and poured in the gems she bought, "The spell from back then despite being decent, still had some flaws. One being I would take damage from using the maximum power of a Warping spell to reach one place. The next was..." she paused for a moment and stared at the contents in her cauldron, " timing..."
"...Had I not turned back time, they would be dead. So...I want to be able to help them even if I am not there." Arisa said as she closed her eyes and picked up her dagger, holding it over her palm, "Sothis...I don't know if I'm going to be able to stop my fall. So..." she looked to her friend, "Can I...use some of my power to protect them?"
Sothis only stared at Arisa. The silence between them spoke words only they knew. Sothis looked at the knife and spoke.
"I know that you are prepared to do whatever that you must," Sothis whispered, and with that, the blade cat Arisa's skin and the blood poured into the cauldron.
Arisa hissed a bit but used heal to somewhat close the wound once the amount she wanted to be poured in and warlord bangs around it. There was one more step and it was going to be a somewhat painful process. She took a deep breath as placed her hands over her heart and began to sing.
"Sing with me a song...of silence and blood. The rain can't wash away the mud." A small orb of energy slowly began to come out of her but it felt painful as she gritted her teeth.
Like a thousand needles begin stabbed into her and the ball of energy shook unstable as she kept singing. The power she was pulling out would save her students…
Even if she were not present.
[—-]
"Looks like I cut too deeply." Arisa muttered as she looked at her left hand wrapped in bandages, "I wonder where everyone is." She muttered and headed towards the fishing pound and there she saw it.
Snow all around the place, students playing and throwing snowballs at each other. Some of the staff were playing with the orphan and village children making snowmen and the surface of the lake was frozen. Meaning, people were ice skating. Arisa walked along and saw everyone was having fun but...
"I need to get out of here before I'm spotted." She quickly fixed her scarf but too late.
A hand suddenly grabbed her wrist and turned to see the most wicked smile. Chris was grinning as he dragged her out, no matter how much she fought back, he was still stronger.
"Come on! I hate the cold! Don't do this to me!" Arisa screeched but could hear Sothis howling as Chris got ice skates and plopped them in her hands, "Please!" She begged but shook his head.
"I'll give you 3 gold coins if you skate, WITHOUT using magic." He said and Arisa grumbled but held up five fingers, "Okay, five. Deal." And with a string of curses being whispered, Arisa changed to her ice skates.
It's been so low since she ice skates it honestly was a traumatizing memory, for her at least. Even in her past life, she was horrible at it, and unfortunately, her body of the present also inherited her clumsiness when it came to events like this. The woman gulped as she stared at the frozen lake and then at everyone present. Everyone was in their winter clothing, having fun, or helping each other out. Mercedes was helping Annette balance herself by holding her hands. Ignatz and Flayn were helping each other out but had to not be close to each other cause Seteth was watching them like a hawk. Ah, Sylvain along with Dedue was trying to keep up with Sadi who twirled like a dancer.
Surprisingly, Bernadetta was out but she was by the lake bed sketching with Felix beside her. Now that she thought about it..."Couples." She muttered and let go of a sigh before she took a deep breath to compose herself to get on the ice.
But then she heard people awing. She looked up and saw Alexandra gracefully skating on the ice like a professional ice skater. In their old world, when she was known as Theresa, she loved the cold. She loved dancing and ice skating when given the opportunity. She remembered back when they were kids, Theresa would try to teach her. Arisa smiled softly at the memories and took a deep breath but looked up to see Alexandra skating towards.
"Come on! I'll help you!" Alexandra grinned and held out her hand to her, "It'll be like old times." Arisa suddenly looked at her surprised "No tengo todos mis recuerdos, pero tengo la sensación de que esto era algo que haríamos juntos en nuestras vidas pasadas." Alexandra smiled Arisa finally took her hand with a smile.
Carefully Arisa took the first step and hold on tightly to her friend's hand. Alexandra saw she was shaking, her legs wobbling like a newborn calf. Not too far, Claude and a few others were watching the scene unfold.
"Try to balance yourself. Take few steps." Alexandra instructed softly as her friend finally managed to get herself standing up, "Good, now I'm going let go." The woman was shaking from trying to hold back her laughter.
"You're enjoying this aren't you?!" Arisa growled, but yelped at the tiny wobble she had, "Traitor!"
"Come on, Arisa. You can do it. I mean, look at Jeralt and Sandy over there. Even on ice, they are training some of the students. Well, kids." Both looked over to near the greenhouse area and saw the two adults were helping some orphan and village children learn how to skate. Alois was also with them along with Jaden, Kama, Kaimu, and was Dominic with them.
"Oh, those are the kids Dimitri and I take care of during the weekend." She said and froze, slowly turning to see her friend smirking.
"They said they miss their Mama and Papa~" Arisa's face was turning red because of her comment, "Now I shall let go!" And Alexandra quickly let go of her hands.
"Wait!" Arisa screeched but too late, her friend had quickly sped away leaving her to herself.
She clung to the wall and took a deep breath despite how much her legs were shaking.
"Come on Arisa. You're a strong independent woman. You can do it..." she kept repeating to herself and took her first baby step but fate chose to spit on her face.
The next thing she knew, she was screaming.
The first was her falling on her behind.
The second was her face slamming into the ice.
The third was her legs trembling like a newborn deer as she held tightly onto the wall before she landed in a split.
At this point, Arisa was infuriated and wet from falling onto the ice so many times. It amazed her just how easily everyone else was adapting to skate. She could see Alexandra skating so easily along with the four houses. Even Rhea had come outside but she was watching from afar. She felt so ashamed and embarrassed that she was struggling. She was an adult. She needed to master this else she would never live it down. She could spot Kama as a laughing mess.
"Easy they say. Easy they say it would be..." she cursed under breath as she hung onto the wall for dear life, "Young people getting ahead of me." She kept grumbling as she once again attempted to take a step but...
"Whoa! Whoooaaa! AAAAAHHH!"
SMACK!
"Oooooohhhh..." Those nearby like Ingrid, Caspar, and Claude, witnessed her slamming back into the wall...hard.
Arisa slid down and crawled back to the side like a desperate woman, and just sat still. Sothis was giggling and gently patted her head, whispering that it was okay and that there was always next time. Jeralt chuckled and told Alois and Sandy to continue teaching the kids. The older woman chuckled as she already understood when she saw her niece hugging her knees.
"Reminds me when we Sitri snuck out of the monastery and went to Faerghus with us." The woman smirked as the memory of when Sitri first tried ice skating, was a disaster.
Jeralt skated towards her and was trying not to laugh at the scowl his daughter had as he knelt. He smirked yet Arisa looked like a child on the verge of crying because she kept failing. He patted her head yet all she did was let out a small whimper.
"Come on, kid. You can do it." Arisa only growled, "You know," he sat next to her as he looked out to the lake, seeing all the students and some of the staff skating, "this brings memories of when you first tried skating. You clung onto me the whole time and you burst out crying at some point when I let you go." Jeralt chuckled at the memories.
Little Arisa held onto his leg for life, refusing to let go as he guided her through the ice. Alexandra was a natural and Amir was struggling a bit but Florencio helped her out. Arisa scoffed and grumbled.
"You know, your mom used to be the same."
Arisa blinked and saw Sandy grinning at her with her hands behind her back. The older woman sat on her left while Jeralt was on her right. She looked fondly to the gray sky as the snowflakes fell. She closed her eyes and smiled softly.
"Remember when you first managed to sneak out of Remire Village when you were a kid?" Sandana said and Arisa nodded, "Your mother did the same thing when she was around your age right now. Jeralt, Florencio, and I were going on a job in Faerghus and none of us noticed that Sitri had managed to sneak into the wagon till three weeks later." She laughed at the memory of Florencio screaming then passing out right in the middle of the road.
"Yeah...she sent Lady Rhea and the entire church into a frenzy. Cherche also managed to track us down and scolded your mother." Jeralt sighed but chuckled, "But the wyvern rider stayed with us and joined us on our trip. Meanwhile, Lady Rhea was ready to turn Fodlan upside down had Florencio not sent a letter to explain what happened. Cherche made Sitri write a letter too." The man let out another sigh as he looked around the lake.
"Now that I think about it, all the kids your mother watch over, their children are here." He looked at everyone on the lake, "Ugh...it's the class of 1154 all over again." He grunted as the others looked at him confused except Sandana.
"Professor!"
The group looked up and saw the Faerghus Five heading their way along with Dedue and Sadi. Dimitri smiled and greeted Jeralt and Sandana, but noticed the scowl on Arisa's face.
"Professor, is everything alright?" Dimitri asked and Jeralt chuckled as he patted his daughter's head.
"She's fine. She's throwing a tantrum because she has horrible balance." He said and the glare Arisa gave him was telling him to "shut up". But Jeralt just smirked as he shook his head, "Come on, kiddo. Give it a try." He said and Arisa growled.
"Professor Arisa is scared of falling? Now that's something you don't see every day." Sylvain snickered.
"Professor, Felix, and I could help you out. We'll hold your arms to help you out." Ingrid offered but only got a pout, "Unbelievable. I can't believe you're being defeated by ice." Felix said but Lestia rolled her eyes and whispered a warning to him.
"Hmm...You know, I have some stories about your old man." Jeralt smirked as the group looked at him, "I got some stories of your parents as well from back in the day when I used to teach the Blue Lions for a while." He said, everyone but Sandana looked at him surprised.
"Wait, you used to teach the Blue Lions?" Arisa blinked multiple times, "I thought you were a Knight?" Jeralt chuckled and shook his head.
"Your mother used to teach the Black Eagles when she had to substitute for Shade. So I guess you got the teaching from her. Meanwhile, I was stuck with the Blue Lions when I had to substitute for a damn no-good teacher. Alois knows who I'm talking about." He said and the Knight from far away gave a nod.
Jeralt snorted, "I knew Lambert and the rest of the Blue Lions were drinking in secret and I didn't give a damn as long they didn't show up to class hungover or ditched." He enjoyed just how shocked the Faerghus Five looked.
"Ha! I still remember when he, Rodrigue, and Romeo shot a fireball at Rhea's face." The look of absolute horror on their faces was priceless, "Florencio was a howling mess as Seteth scolded them on their knees and the face Rhea was making while in ashes was worth sketch Sandy did." The Faerghus Five felt like their souls were leaving their bodies.
Romeo was Sylvain's father, Count Gautier. Sylvain was shocked hearing this because the image of his old man wasn't a good one because of how he was raised.
"Why is it when something happens, it's always you three?" Sandy mimicked Rhea's voice as she laughed, "Oh, brings back memories! I still remember when Huston and Gustave accidentally set the potion classroom on fire! Poor Godfrey and Tiana had to save their asses! And don't even get me started with Durandal and Romea!" The woman laughed at the memories.
Huston was Ingrid's Father, Count Galatea. Ingrid had heard stories from her uncles that her father was a troublemaker in the past and that her mother was the one that kept him in check.
"Wait. Who's Durandal?" Dimitri and Lestia said confused because they recognized the other names but not "Durandal."
"Oh. Your mother, Your Highness. I know her name is Demeter but Durandal was her nickname she earned because of a demonic beast she slew." The twins were too stunned to speak because this was the few times anyone had ever spoken of their mother.
"Queen Demeter of House Blaiddyd was originally from a fallen House that once used to be seamstresses for the Royal Family. Durandal's parents were on the verge of closing their shop when Lady Cira offered to take her under her wing, only if she passed her exam." Sandy sighed at the memory of the woman, one of her students.
"Durandal passed with flying colors and was officially named a member of House Zoltras." Jeralt said, "I still remember how your parents met. It was bad..." the man shivered at the memory.
"We want to hear more." Lestia insisted as they gathered around.
At some point, Ashe, Dwyer, Lysithea, Mercedes, and Annette joined in. Jeralt was a bit surprised as well as Sandana but the two adults nodded to each other, agreeing it would be a good chance for them to know about their folk's past.
"Is there by any chance, a painting of the former queen? I remember your father commissioned one for their wedding." Sandy said and Dimitri smiled sadly.
"My aunt, Lady Regina told us that after our mother passed away, my father had the painting locked away. I think it...must have brought up some memories." The prince muttered and Jeralt understood not to push it.
"Hmm...I know a few other secrets of your parents but that shall be spoken of at another time." Sandy said and looked at Arisa, "Now get up you. As your aunt and higher up, I order you to skate." The look of betrayal Arisa had said it all.
"Gotta listen to your aunt, kid." Jeralt smiled and Arisa sulked but nodded.
Sandana knew where this was going so she quickly got up and dragged Jeralt away despite, the man's protests.
"Now Jeralt, let the girl struggle. Especially...with him." The woman grinned wickedly as they watched the scene unfold.

Arisa had a scowl on her face as she once again tried to take a step on the ice but she slipped. The woman screamed and was on the verge of landing on her face, a pair of arms had caught her on time. The prince was trying not to smile as Arisa was quick to cling to him. Her arms were wrapped tightly around him and her eyes filled with fear as they stood on the ice. Her legs felt like jelly as she was shaking, trying to maintain her balance. Arisa wanted to curse a mountain of curses at her aunt. The prince couldn't help but let out a small laugh ad she looked up at his face with a glare. Tears in her eyes, cheeks somewhat puffed out, she looked like a cute angry little girl.
"Sadist." And Dimitri couldn't help but burst into laughter at her comment and smirked.
"Professor, are you having a hard time skating? I thought you knew?" He hummed and Arisa whined a bit but yelped the second she felt herself slip.
"I do know how!" She replied in a panicked tone, "Just not like this!"
"Gasp!" Dimitri feigned a gasp, "Professor! Have you been cheating using magic?! I thought you knew how to skate the traditional way!" He couldn't help but laugh when she yelped trying to maintain herself from slipping.
"This is why I don't ice skate the traditional way!" Arisa screeched and the prince chuckled, trying to calm her down.
"It's alright." He grinned, carefully removing her arms from around him, "Try to maintain still, for now."
He held her hands, his gaze focus on her. Arisa was shaking like an infant trying to remain standing.
"Please don't let go. Please don't let go." Arisa kept repeating as moved a bit to help him glide on the ice.
It was a very slow process, him gently pulling her hands as he glided backward and she was slightly crouched, just trying to maintain her balance. Arisa always put on a tough upfront because she needed to but during these rare moments she could be with her friends and family, she doesn't need that mask. Right now, it felt like it was just Dimitri and her. Two friends trying to help each other skate.
"Eep!" The second she felt her knees give in a bit, she scrambled to hold onto him tightly but unfortunately...
"Whoa! Whoa! Professor wai-!"
A hard fall on the ice they fall but the prince couldn't help but burst out laughing as she had managed to grab onto him and buried her face in his chest.
"I HATE THIS!" Her muffled whine could be heard and not too far the others laughed but all Dimitri did was smiled softly as patted her back.
"You get used to it."
"Don't use my own words against me!"
"But I will. But are you alright? Do you want to get off the ice?" He said and felt her nod.
"Hey, you two! Need some help?" Dorothea skated over along with Ferdinand because they were the closest along with Kama, "So sister Arisa is afraid of ice skating." Kama said bluntly.
"Oh, now you." Dorothea lightly scolded the girl she helped Arisa up, "Come help you sister." And Kama quickly went to help Dorothea drag a whimpering Arisa off the ice.
Ferdinand held out his hand to Dimitri and helped him up. The prince couldn't help but have a smug grin on his face as the two watched the girls leave.
"Did you enjoy it?" Ferdinand chuckled and the prince just shook his head, smiling.
"It had been some time since we have enjoyed ourselves like this. Speaking of enjoyment, how have things been for you in Abyss?" Dimitri said and Ferdinand's eyes looked down.
"Can...we speak privately of this?" He said and Dimitri was quick to understand and nodded.
"We'll see you later professor!" The two yelled out but Arisa gave them a lazy wave as she was helped to walk to the dining hall.
"Will she be alright?" Ferdinand said, "I have never seen so afraid of ice." Dimitri let out a snort.
"Consider what happened today as us paying her back for our training regimens." The empire noble had to agree to that one.
[—]
"You're highness...no, Dimitri." Ferdinand sighed as the two sat in his room with chamomile tea served, "During my time in Abyss, I have learned about my arrogance about the world. As you know, when I turn 22, I will inherit the title of Duke of Aegir and become the next prime minister of the Empire." He said and the prince nodded.
"I grew up with a loving father and mother...but just because of that, my father tried to shield me from the. Then, The Fire of Aegir happened." He smiled bitterly, "That day is forever ingrained into my mind. And also..." He gritted his teeth and looked down to the cup, "The day I finally began to ask questions."
"You don't believe House Aegir was attacked by the demonic beast," Dimitri said as the man nodded.
"Of course not. My father tried to convince me but I refused to believe it. The more I spoke with Pollux the more I began to question what was going on in the Empire. Did Edelgard ever mention to you that she had eight more siblings?" He said and Dimitri looked at him surprised.
"No. This is a first." Dimitri said, "I knew Edelgard, Chris, and I were step-siblings." Okay, truthfully learned of it a year after Edelgard left, "As well as who Patricia was but it was never once mentioned she had more siblings." He said.
"I thought Chris told you." Ferdinand looked at him surprised, "But back to the subject, during the Insurrection of the Seven, I was told that eight of the royal children had passed away. I don't believe it was just suddenly like that. I believe something must have happened in the shadows." He said and it finally clicked.
"You think the Agarthans have something to do with it," Dimitri said and the more they spoke the more Dimitri realized that Cornelia may have had a part in the Tragedy of Duscur.
His conversations with Hapi.
His conversations with Pollux.
His conversations with the others.
The hints and clues that have been left and found throughout the year.
And all of it was possible because of...
"There is more than meets the eye. While I can't tell you. I can at least drop some hints for you to put the pieces together."
The Prince's eyes widened slowly as looked down at his hands, the realization suddenly hitting him like a Boulder dropping on him.
"Ferdinand, could...we finish our conversation at another time?" He said and his friend looked at him surprised but nodded, "Also, let me ask this question...who was it that saved you and your father from the fire?"
"Ah yes..." Ferdinand sighed, "At that time, I didn't recognize her because she was using her original appearance but it was Professor Arisa. She had come to my house to get some herbs that day. Please do not tell me you suspect her?" He narrowed his eyes at him.
"I would never!" Dimitri was horrified hearing that, "She has done so much for us! But..." the grip on the teacup tightened, "I wish...she could trust us more."
"Everyone has their reason, even if it is painful."

The weeks went by fast like a breeze and shopping for dresses had never been so stressful. The girls did try to kidnap Arisa at some point for dress shopping but she had already told them she had a dress. That was a lie of course because she knew if she went with them, they would make her try on so many dresses. Amir and Sandana were more than happy to join them. The older woman was happy to give them advice in choosing the right dress that fit them and Amir helped them choose the right accessories. But today was a different day. Today was a special day.
Today was the twins' birthday.
Arisa always took great care to gift her students the best. Of course, nothing so grand but things that were simple that they would love. She remembered when it was Lorenz's birthday, she had gifted him a set of Brigid teas that he truly enjoyed. Or when she made a triple milk walnut cake for Mercedes, her friend looked like she had fallen into heaven when she took a bite. Or when she gifted Dwyer a new magic stone for his staff. The list could go on and on but it was moments like this she truly enjoyed.
She remembered when she gave her father her first gift. During her first year, she figured out that Jeralt wasn't the type to celebrate things. Especially because it had only been four years since the passing of her mother, and the adult within her didn't want to offend him. So, she went with something simple. First, she had asked around what he liked. The answers were all the same, that he didn't celebrate but...
"Papa, I made you this."
"Hey, kid!" Arisa stopped and turned towards the voice, "I'm surprised to see you out of your room. Where are you heading?" Jeralt asked as he saw the paper bag his daughter was holding in her arms.
"Oh, I'm heading to the training room where my students are." She said, slightly avoiding eye contact but Jeralt knew that look.
"Kid, I'm not stupid. I know today is the twin's birthday. And one twin is out in the town and the other is in the training room. Now fess up. You're going to see the prince, aren't you?" He said and the way her eyes downcast said it all.
"Dad...be honest with me." Arisa took a deep breath and looked up to him, with a shaky smile, "W-What do you think of my students?" She asked and he was a bit surprised but was honest.
"Mercedes and Annette are great kids. They have cooked meals for our people and have packed me lunch sometimes. Felix, that kid could use an ass whooping to get rid of that attitude but he'll make a fine swordsman one day. Lysithea and Hai, are smart, a bit on the childish side but overall, are great. Now, Ingrid and Dwyer, if the Knights of Serios were smart, they should hire them, they would give them a run for their money." The man chuckled as he thought of them.
"Dedue and Ashe. Good kids. Lord knows how much they went through over the years but the fire that burns in their eyes is gentleness, you don't see that too often. Hmm...Flayn and Pollux, I've seen them sneaking around the place. As long as they don't get into trouble, they'll be fine. Lindhart on the other hand, that boy sleeps too much. Maybe some coffee will wake him up. As for Lestia, the girl is energetic, just like her mother." The man nodded, "She'll be keeping those damn nobles in check."
"What about Dimitri?"
Jeralt went silent. It had been obvious since the day they saved those brats that the prince was infatuated with his daughter. He had seen that look so many times.
Admiration.
Respect.
Love.
Joy.
But also fear.
The prince loved but also feared his daughter. He respected her. He loved her. But he also feared her. It was funny because it was the same way with his father and with Jeralt. Jeralt at times felt like he was looking at a younger version of himself when he first fell for Sitri. But also watching a young Lambert trying to woo Durandal. Both women earned their respects in the most insane ways. Sitri, despite being sick, was terrifying when she unleashed her true strength in magic. Durandal, had the voice and roar of a lion when she would command her Pegasus knights. Arisa, his daughter, was the same. Jeralt let go of a sigh.
The way the prince looked at his daughter with so much admiration and those damn lovey-dovey eyes. Jeralt would kill him if he could. He's fought multiple suitors that had come to ask for his daughter's hand in marriage. But seeing his daughter genuinely fall in love... was painful.
"He's alright." That was his response…his little girl is now a grown woman who has fallen in love.
The way his daughter pulled her brows together in a frown and narrowed her eyes at him just said everything.
"What do you mean he's alright?" Arisa said and Jeralt only shook his head.
"I got a lot more to say but go. But if he ever hurts you, I won't hesitate to hide his body." Jeralt said and his daughter just chuckled, she knew he was being protective.
Right when she was about to leave, she stopped and noticed the bracelet he was wearing. The green red-colored beads were somewhat damaged and the string a bit dirty but it still held on tightly.
"You still have it." She said and Jeralt looked down to his wrist, chuckling.
"Of course I do. It was the first gift you made for me." He said and Arisa couldn't help but grin widely.

The training ground was the same as ever except things were being moved around for the dancing class later that day. Some were looking forward to it, others were not but that didn't stop some brave souls from practicing. Dimitri had been practicing the dance that was assigned to them, of course, Arisa was helping them. Any questions they had, she answered. She arrived and placed the paper bag down as she walked up, Dimitri had a frustrated look on his face.
"You're doing alright." Arisa smiled, "Try to maintain yourself straight and relaxed." She took off her coat and revealed herself with her pants and black long sleeve shirt, "Let's take it from the top."
"Wait...you're dancing with me?" He said and she nodded, "Alright." The prince took a deep breath and nodded.
Hessian and Blanca sat together and placed their paws on the music crystal glove that the prince had brought to practice with the music. Arisa couldn't help but chuckle once the music started.
"And, relax." Arisa said as he stood behind her and held her hand, "Ready?" Again, he took a shaky deep breath and nodded.
First, they walked apart and bowed. Slowly, carefully and graceful, her toes piled as she walked but to him and he held out his. They bowed once more and the two held their hands. The music is elegant and beautiful, the violins playing in grace. He carefully twirled as she was on point before placing his hands on her waist. She leaned back, his arms moving fluidly as she stood back up and did another pirouette. It was a simple dance yet the way the two moved was done beautifully that they didn't even notice that Dorothea, Claude, Yuri, Sylvain, and Hilda had walked in. The girls had to cover their mouths as the group quickly hid behind the bookshelves.
"Oh, my goddess...I had never seen such a beautiful and graceful dance. And it looks painful too." Hilda said and cringe but was also when Arisa was picked up by the prince by the waist and she did the splits in the air.
"I think they are practicing the dance for the White Heron cup." Dorothea giggled and they heard someone else come in but all froze once they saw it was Jeralt. The man narrowed his eyes as he stopped and watched the two practicing dancing. They were lost in their world, never breaking eye contact. The girls began silently squealing when Dimitri once again picked Arisa up as she laid in his arms and he rocked her carefully then flipped her onto his shoulder. Her arms were in a circle formation as he walked gracefully around then put her back down. In the final movement, they are in each other arms. The group of students didn't know that Sothis and Cirina were watching with them with their spiritual popcorn and glasses.
They panted and gasped for air, looking into each other's eyes before grinning.
"You finally go it! Nice job!" Arisa said but froze when he fixed a lock of her hair.
"It was all thanks to you. Thank you." Arisa was just stunned as the prince smiled at her warmly.
"Cough!" She quickly got out of his arms, "Thank you. But seriously, you've improved. I thought you be more stiff considering you couldn't do a split at the beginning of the semester." She snickered as the prince rolled his eyes.
"I still struggle a bit but training has helped me," Dimitri said as the woman shook her head but smiled.
"Speaking of events, I have something for you." Arisa grinned and quickly ran to fetch the paper bag and back to him, "I plan to give Lestia's present a little later but I wanted to give yours first." She smiled.
"Oh, you didn't have to. I honestly thought you would wait till The Day of Blessings." He said and the woman shook her head.
"Well, today is part one. Part two is in a few days." Arisa giggled and finally pulled out the first team, "I got you some mini chess cakes. And..."
Arisa shifted a bit nervously and gulped as she held a cute armored teddy bear in her arms,
"Umm..." she looked up to the prince, desperately trying to keep her face from turning red, "I know The Day of Blessings is a few days away along with the ball but I wanted to give you a small gift since it is your birthday so..." she held out the armored teddy bear, "Happy Birthday!" She smiled brightly. The prince stared at the bear as his lips became a thin line and tried to smile.
"...I...will accept it." The prince gave her a crooked smile as he took the teddy bear from her.
"Oh...I forgot Dimitri is not a fan of stuffed animals." Claude cringed.
"You don't like it?" Arisa's happy expression dropped to one of disappointment, like a wilted plant and it was like the biggest slap to the face to the prince.
Sothis was screaming in her mind and trying to reassure Arisa that it was alright and to not feel down. She looked so hurt and the group just smacked their faces because they were witnessing a moment that was supposed to be sweet, ruined.
"No! No! No! I-I love it!" Dimitri quickly said but Arisa shook her said and looked to the side.
"It's okay." Arisa sighed as she refused to meet his gaze, "I understand. Still..." she plopped the paper bag of mini cheesecakes into his hands, "I hope you like these. Good bye..." and she turned, walking away and ignoring Dimitri calling her name.
"Idiot." The group just shook their heads in utter disappointment.
"He's lucky Jeralt didn't w—-!" Dorothea finally realized they forgot Jeralt was in the room.
"He's so dead."
The entire group was about to go drag Dimitri from the place but one look from the older Knight made them freeze. Jeralt took a long hard look at the prince and knew that the day had finally come.
He was going to give, "The Talk." To Lambert's boy.
"Hey, kid." Jeralt called out and it brought satisfaction when he saw the life drain from the prince, "I saw everything." He said and Sothis had made it back on time and was in complete horror seeing what was about to happen.
"Good. You're alone. I have been wanting to talk to you for a while." Jeralt said and he was quick to notice how tense Dimitri became, and looked up to where his daughter left, "You don't like stuffed animals, huh?" His gaze trailed down to the armored bear in his arms.
"I-I'm sure this is a huge misunderstanding." Dimitri's smile wobbled, "I—"
"Your father did the same thing to your mother one time."
"Pardon?" Dimitri gawked as the Knight nodded, crossing his arms.
"Though the only difference was that she gave him the silent treatment for a few days. After that, well I'm not saying the rest." He sighed and looked down at him, "Tell me, Dimitri, what is my daughter to you? And don't even think about just saying your professor. Cut the shit and be honest." He narrowed his eyes.
"Sir Jeralt I..." Dimitri looked down and his arms tightened around his gifts.
Jeralt wanted the truth and nothing more. Dimitri took a deep breath, feeling his heart racing like it was about to explode out his chest but he needed to talk. He needed to make it clear.
"As you said, she is my professor. But she is also my friend. She is someone who I admire and to be honest, there are times I feel I don't deserve her kindness at all." He chuckled bitterly.
"I feel like I'm weighing her down. She knows I like her. Perhaps she knows that my feelings go beyond friendship, and I don't want those feelings to weigh her down. She is like a bird that no matter how time is cut down, will always return to fly brighter and stronger. She is moving forward." He said and noticed Jeralt's face remained the same.
"That's why...I want..no, I will become someone worthy standing by her side. I will work to right the wrongs that have done. I will make sure my kingdom and people are safe. But most of all, I want her to be happy. I have...I have a lot of room for improvement after all. Change doesn't happen in one day." He said and from the sides, his friends were cheering him on but were shocked he was having the guts to speak such a way to Jeralt.
"Arisa means the world to me. She was there for me in my highs and lows. She has done so much for me that I don't how I'll ever repay her. She has saved my life multiple times. Part of me feels weak but I know she would scold me if I said that. So that's why I will work on myself to become a better person. If...she doesn't accept my feeling towards her, I understand and I will respect her decision. That wish her well with her partner." He said Jeralt had a stoic expression before he let go of a sigh.
"Arisa has always been one to keep on moving forward. But most of all, keeping things to herself." Jeralt said, the prince looking at him surprised, "At times I feel she knows too much. Looking back, she's always been mature for her age yet, even so, she at times would close herself off. But...ever since she met you and the others, I have seen her smile, just like her mother. With you, her eyes and smile shine brighter than most." He said.
"Prince, I'm going to warn you now, if you hurt my daughter, I won't hesitate to hide your body. That's a promise." Jeralt said coldly as he looked down at him.
"Then Sir Jeralt, I rather die than hurt your daughter. You're more than welcome to do so if I ever do such a thing." Dimitri said and both stared at each other, tense.
Claude, Dorothea, Hilda, and Sylvain were fearing for their friend's life while Yuri was enjoying the show. Jeralt suddenly smirked and placed his hand on his shoulder.
"Not bad. Perhaps you're not as goodie-two-shoes as you look. But heed my warning. Hurt her, you pay." And did a hard pat on his shoulder before he left.
Dimitri remained still as a stone for a few minutes before finally falling to his knees, feeling like his life flashed before his eyes. He had heard stories of Jeralt but experienced firsthand how truly terrifying the man could be...Dimitri was more than happy to be alive. But most of all, it seemed Jeralt approved of him.
Sort of...
"Hey Dimitri, still with us?" The prince looked up and saw the group looking at him with smirks and sly grins, it suddenly occurred to him that they saw everything.
Dimitri didn't know if he should feel dread because of the impending doom but the first thing that came out of his mouth...
"Please don't tell Lestia." Claude and Sylvain couldn't help but burst out laughing as they helped him up, Dorothea smiling along with Hilda.
"Sooooo," the pink-haired girl grinned, "What are you planning to gift the Professor? And it better not is a dagger!" Hilda pouted at him menacing.
"Cough! Edelgard! Cough!" Sylvain coughed.
Dimitri smiled.
From the outside, people suddenly became startled when the doors of the training rooms were suddenly thrown open with such great force and Sylvain came out of it flying, thrown into the snow. Landing in the snow pile the orphans and kids made. All the prince was dust his hand and walk away while the remaining ones were holding their stomachs from laughing so much.
- Ethereal Moon: The 25th —
The morning snow fell gently as the people all around Fodlan began to wake up. Children ran down the hallways and stairs of their house quickly to their living rooms to open presents. Merchants and vendors woke up bright and early to open their stalls and the staff of the church of Serios and knights had woke up to prepare the stages. The dining hall was bustling with joy and excitement as students exchanged presents with each other and food was passed around. After everyone had eaten, they had to go to the Cathedral for the morning prayer for the day. The Holy songs were sung by the choir class and students sat at the benches saying their prayers or singing along with the song. While a few weren't happy with waking up early in the morning, they were still excited for tonight.
"Today we gather on this beautiful morning to thank the Goddess for giving life to the land." Rhea spoke despite everyone still being surprised by the winter dress, then again, only the professors saw her dress in it, "For the songs sung today were sung during the early years when she walked the land." She continued.
The Professors sat with their class, and Arisa about how half the students were trying not to burst out laughing seeing Seteth and Crescent dressed for the first time dressed in thick cotton fur coats and pants along with ushankas. Even Sothis was not trying to burst out laughing at how her children and grandchildren all looked like puffballs of fur because of their winter clothing. Even Beleth was wearing such clothing.
"I'm starting to see a pattern here," Sandana whispered to Jeralt who just rolled his eyes, his wife was the same when it came to Winter.
"I'm surprised to see you in a cloak." Jeralt shot back and the woman just smirked.
"In three hours the festival begins, and I am looking forward to everyone's reactions!" The woman snickered but most of all...
"Trying to woo Seteth?" Jeralt whispered back and was met with a hard smack on the head.
Arisa raised an eyebrow at the action but just shook her head as she sat between Lestia and Dimitri. Pollux was hidden away but could still hear everything that was happening.
"With the last prayers song, we shall start the festivities in three hours. Enjoy today to your heart's content and the ball shall begin tonight!" Rhea said and the cathedral was filled with cheers.
"Before you all head out, those who are part of the White Heron Cup, head to the plaza where the place is set. Tents for each house are set up for you all to prepare for your dances. And the dancer that will perform the opening ceremony, please also head over there as well." Seteth said and spotted Flayn walking next to Ignatz, "FLAYN! FIVE FEET APART!" his face became horrified when the girl stuck out her tongue at him and just took Ignatz's hand, and walked away.
Ignatz felt his life flash before his eyes.
[—]
Chris, Ferdinand, and Balthus helped Yuri into his black tuxedo and in the other room, Constance, Marriane, and Sadi helped Hapi put on her dress. Pollux was happy to select their accessories. Yuri had admitted, he looked good. His tuxedo was freshly ironed but not only did it not feel stuffy, but was lightweight, comfortable to move in. Very easy to move in considering the type of dance Chris taught them.
"Okay, so when we're you going to tell us that you were a professional dancer?" Yuri said as Hapi stuck out her head with a scowl.
"Spill it, Eyepatch." The woman said and their professor just smiled.
"I figured we go with something spicy. And considering Manuela is a romantic and Alois is easily impressed, we got our chance." Chris grinned, "I also know Arisa. She's most likely going to choose something romantic as well." Yuri smirked because he somewhat witnessed the dance.
"Still, let's hope Lady Luck is on our side because Arisa can be unpredictable," Chris said as the girls finally finished with happiness.
The orange red-haired woman wore a crimson long dress with the left side slit to show her leg. The heels she wore were low and comfortable. Hapi raised an eyebrow as she looked at herself in the mirror, her hair tied in a messy bun with orange roses and she wore pearl earrings.
"Not bad..." Yuri smirked as he held his chin, "You look delightful."
"Hmph." Hapi huffed but looked at herself, "You know, I like it. How do I say it...fierce but lovely like Dorothea says." She smiled.
"Go on you two, set the others on fire!" Balthus cheered them one as Marianne put a cloak around Hapi and Yuri, "Set the World Ablaze! Do the Tango!" He and Chris cheered out as the couple let out a groan of annoyance.
"Now you two!" Ferdinand laughed, "But seriously, good luck you two."
"Thanks."
[—-]
"And the last pin is on." Arisa smiled softly as she put on the last pearl hair clip, "All done. You can look in the mirror now." She said and Lestia got up from her chair and looked.
"This...is me?" Lestia gasped, "I'm gonna cry...I've never been so dolled up before and I love it." The girl whimpered as she fanned herself with her hands to try and dry her tears.
"Aw, don't cry." Annette grinned, "You look lovely. I'm sure you and his highness will do amazing out there." Mercedes said as they helped her put on her cloak.
"Your Highness! Are you ready?" Arisa called out to the other room as the girls could hear frantic whispering and a smack, "What are they doing?"
"Should Bernie check?" Bernadetta's said and was met with a very quick, "NO!" From the other side, making the girl squeal and jump back.
"It's fine! They are just helping me put on my cloak! Just...I'm not used to wearing such...clothing." Dimitri said as his face was red as a tomato.
Sylvain was trying not to burst out laughing at him till he finally walked out to the other room with a cloak on. His hair combed back along with a bit of a blush to make his cheeks look a bit fuller. His cloak hid his costume which he felt was too much because of how skin-tight was, but somehow comfortable to walk in. He has seen the clothing ballet dancers used but he never thought he would wear one or his sister. Lestia was extremely excited, a little hop in her steps.
"Alright! Let's head out!"
A wooden stage was built that could be put together quickly. Strong and stable it was, decorated with ribbons and such. Magic crystals playing holiday music were all around. It was one of the few magic tools that Rhea approved but could only be used during certain events, like today's festival. Students and citizens were all gathered around the stage except for the small area where the orchestra and band were. On the stage behind where a dance was about to be performed, were taiko drums with their players. Walking onto the stage with her cloak was Sandana and in front of her stood Lady Rhea with staff. A bright huge green jewel with a big blue and golden ribbon. As well as...
"Is that The Sheild of Serios?!" Arisa screeched as Chris, Amir, and Alexandar were shocked.
"Ah, that's right." Jeralt spoke up as the other looked at him, "You guys never seen Sandana perform. Well," the man smirked and looked back to the stage, "You're all in for one a lifetime experience. The dance your aunt is going to perform is...a very meaningful full one." He said with a rare smile.
"Excuse, Sir Jeralt, do you mind explaining?" Lestia said as the others strained their ears to hear.
"Before any of you kids were born, the winter festival would always be like this. However, at one particular festival, Sandy chose to surprise Lady Rhea with a dance. One that Lady Rhea had not to scene in many years." He said and everyone had looks that said to elaborate.
Anna was just smirking along with Elder Bara. The students looked back to the stage and noticed that Rhea seemed to be...glowing? No, excited and happy was a better way to describe it.
"Just watch the performance. You'll understand what I mean."
[—-]
"Welcome everyone to the winter festival. Today is The Day of Blessings. Every year this festival is made in honor of the Goddess to thank her for giving life to the land. For today, is a special performance. One that is welcomed with open arms. Today, the opening ceremony shall be performed by our famous Knight, Sandana." Rhea said and for the first time in forever, her eyes were showing true joy.
It was rare for Rhea to be excited and her siblings were just asking themselves why she was so excited for a dance performance. Emily in particular was also curious as to why her baby sister was excited. Of course, she kept her true form hidden as she went to sit next to Flayn, Crescent, Seteth, Robert, and Edward. Arisa said she would sit with her class and family.
"Okay, seriously, what has Rhea so excited about a dance? It's just a human dancing." Crescent said as they watched Rhea hand the staff and Sheild of Serios to the woman.
"Ah, you must be new here." Robert said and held out his hand, "I'm Doctor Robert, a pleasure to meet you."
"...Crescent." Crescent shook hands with Edward, "Now, could you explain."
"Right," Robert said and looked back to the stage.
"There is no need Robert."
The group looked and saw Lady Rhea approaching and sitting at her seat between Seteth and Crescent. Her eyes were filled with joy as she spoke.
"This dance...is special. One truly unique. One...that I never thought I see again." Rhea smiled as she looked onto the stage, "All of you, it is best you see for yourselves what I mean."
[—]
"Sigh, it's been so long since I've held this staff and wore this shield." Sandana thought as she walked up to the center of the stage.
She unbuttoned her cloak and threw it in the air, revealing she wore a white Fodlan dress with, green, gold, white, and blue belt with golden jewels. She undid her hair tie, showing just how long her hair was and she wore white lilies in her hair along with pink and white ribbons. She was barefoot, her ankles with bells as she got into position. All eyes were on her, with one arm up, her body slightly blended, on the points of her toes. The Sheild of Serios on the arm that held the helm of her dress and the arm that was upheld the staff. Her eyes slowly closed as she mouth the words, "The lattice stage."
"Wait...that position!" Seteth gasped as Emily, Flayn, and Crescent had quickly sat up straight.
The first chime of the bell, the sound of the singer, singing in an ancient language. Yes, this was her stage. A stage that once the Goddess of the land would dance on.

Her first spin with a hop, the staff in her hand moving smoothly with her as she twisted her body. The air around her became still, she controlled her breathing to hear the voices of the wind. Her eyes closed the whole time as she moved on to the next step, following the rhythm of the music.

"This dance...I know this dance." Sothis whispered and manifested as everyone's eyes were glued onto the stage.
The goddess subconsciously transformed into her adult form and began to dance the same steps as Sandana, joining her on the stage. The dance nearly snapped Sandana's eyes open because it felt like someone joined her but she didn't. She remained concentrated on her dace. Her dress began glowing and transformed to a black exotic dress that made Seteth soul leave his mouth. It was the Plegia dancer dress that fitted her body perfectly. The colors of purple, black with gold, gave her a look of darkness. Sothis danced along with her, Sandana waved the staff, and particles of sand surrounded her as she spun.
"Now, it begins." The music began from slow to an upbeat fast pace song.
The drummers hit taiko drums hard and loud. Her movements suddenly became faster, much harder to move yet for her it was easy. Sothis matched with her perfectly as water began to surround them.
"Embrace the dark, you call home,
Gaze upon an empty white throne
A legacy of lies, a familiar disguise "
"Eh?" Arisa touched her cheeks as she felt something warm and wet, "I'm crying?"
It wasn't just her. She looked around and saw Amir, Chris, Alexandar, even her father was having the same reaction. Dimitri, Lestia, Annette, Claude, Hilda, Edelgard...all the students and Professors that bore Crest were crying. Even knights that had crests, like Catherine and Celica, were having the same reaction. She looked up to the stage saw Seteth, Flayn, Robert, Edward, Crescent, Emily, and Rhea, tears streaming down their eyes.
Sing with me a song, of conquest and fates
The black pillar cracks beneath its wake.
Night breaks through the day, hard as a stone
Lost in thoughts all alone
"That's right." Rhea thought as she kept watching Sandana dance, "Today, all those who bear the crest of our brother's sister are all in one place, watching a dance that was lost in time. A dance...Mother's dance." She smiled softly as she finally looked around but her face became confused when her eyes landed on the first prince of the empire.
[—-]
"What the hell, I'm crying?" Zander whispered as he tried to wipe his tears away, "Aw man, I don't know why but watching Sandana dance is making me feel happy for some reason." He said and turned to look at Glenn.
The prince burst out laughing at just much Glenn was crying so much, eyes all puff and nose running.
"Never mind this is the best!" Zander howled but everyone told him to "SHH!" Making him pout but shut up.
But honestly, he was confused. From what he heard from Rodrigue, only those with Crest always seemed to have some sort of reaction to the dance Sandana was doing. He doesn't understand why he feels like he is looking at something familiar, like something he lost. Perhaps it is a feeling being shared among those currently shedding tears. Only the Goddess knows.
[—-]
Sing with me a song of birthrights and love
light scatters to the sky above
Dawn breaks through the gloom, white as a bone
Lost in thoughts all alone
Slow, graceful. Water began to surround her as her clothing once again changed but this time to a Feroxi dancer dress. The staff in her hands glowed brightly as light surrounded her in swirls, the staff turning into the sword of Serios. She blended backward and spun as she held the blade over her chest. The music transformed once more but this time it sounded solemn. She still felt like she wasn't alone on the stage.
Sing with me a song of silence and blood
The rain falls, but can't wash away the mud
Within my ancient heart dwells madness and pride
Can no one hear my cry
BAM!
The speed of the music began to pick again. Her movements became faster and faster. Her dress flowed one final time to the colors gold, yellow, green, red, blue, and white. A dress she had custom made combining the cultures of Fodlan and Almyra. The final act here and here movements increased. She swings her sword east, then, west, south, and finally north. The music slows down at a slow pace, the snow falling gave her an ethereal look as she closed her eyes, the final lyrics sung.
In time flows, see the glow
Of flames ever burning bright
On the bridge, rivers drift
Broken memories align.
Dun. Dun. Dun. Dun.
Ring...ring...ring...ring.
" Ssssssiiigghhhh..." Sandana slowly let out her breath as she kneeled blended backward, gently holding the sword over her chest.
Silence befell all around them slowly the crowd erupted into cheers! The students that bore crest were just too stunned to move, trying to process the feelings they went through. It felt like they reunited with a loved one that they had lost a long time ago. Edelgard was just confused as to why she had such a reaction and right when she was going to say something.
"Enjoying the show?"
She looked behind her and felt Kronya's hand on her shoulder. Monica only smiled as she made sure not to be heard.
"Your crest is reacting to dance done by the false god...how interesting." The Agarthan sneered in her ear before pulling back with a whisper, "Thales is watching."
Edelgard quickly wiped her tears away as the crowd cheered and Sandana walked back to Rhea and handed her the shield and sword. The princess took a deep breath to calm herself. Her resolve must not be shaken. Her resolve must be done.
[—-]
"Aunty, I knew you could dance but holy damn!" Arisa said as they had met Sandana backstage, where all the students that were part of the white heron cup went, "It was amazing!" Sothis was just dazed from all the dancing but Arisa could feel joy in her heart.
"Hahahaha!" Sanadana laughed as she patted her head, "I'm glad you all loved it. It's a special dance. The Dance of Goddess. One day you, Amir, Chris, and Alexandra will perform this dance." The woman smiled, "There is...actually a story behind this dance. I'll tell you kids after the festival. We got company."
The group turned and saw Lady Rhea walking towards them with a smile on her face. Her eyes were still a bit red from crying but she looked overjoyed.
"Sanadana, that was an amazing performance. It has been 20 years since I have seen you dance. It... felt like I was watching her." Rhea's voice cracked and Sandana sighed and patted her head.
Everyone in the room froze, gawked, their mouths hung open at the sudden action. But Arisa knew what was going on. Sothis had quickly possessed Sandana. The Goddess within the woman cocked her head and continued to comfort the Archbishop despite how shocked she was and everyone.
"The Dance of Old is one that regardless of how many years have passed will always live deep in the memory of all crest. But also because those children of the goddess will always remember their mother." Sandana said and removed her hand and to the right, her gaze up to the sky, "Her children all have grown...the dance of old is forever engraved in their hearts." She glanced her way a bit, "You've grown."
Just for a moment, Rhea felt as if Sothis was looking at her. Emily quickly figured out what was happening and stormed over to Sandana, and smacked her head heard. No words described the sudden action other than Sothis screaming as she flew out of the woman's body and back to her friend.
"Ooooowwwwww!" Sandana cried out as she held the back of her head and looked back at her with a glare, "What was that for?! And...wait a minute," she looked around and noticed everyone staring at her, "Why am I turned to the right?"
"Um! So, Lady Rhea! Are you here to wish us good luck?!" Arisa said quickly making the woman snap out of it.
"Cough! Of course." The archbishop smiled as the contestants gathered around, "All of you good luck in today's performance. May the goddess smile down on you all." Rhea said and left.
"Sandana, I wish to speak to you. Privately." Seteth said and the woman raised an eyebrow but nodded, and followed.
"I wonder what that is all about."
[—-]
"Ahem! Ladies and Gentlemen! My sincerest apologies for the wait!"
The people all gathered around, sitting down or remaining standing up as Alois stepped onto the stage. Excitement was brimming all around as students were getting ready.
"Thank you for gathering here on the eve of the highly anticipated ball to bear witness to...The academy-wide dance competition! Welcome to The White Heron Cup!" Cheers erupted from the audience.
"The completion will be judged by...me! Your humble servant, Alois Rangeld! And also...The acclaimed former Songteess of the Mittlefrank Opera Company, Manuela Casagranda!"
Behind the stage, the house leaders were getting ready and doing stretches. Their names could be heard being announced as well as the title of the dances they would be doing. Hilda did a few stretches, having removed her cloak, revealing she wore a light pink sevillana dress. The end of the long dress was with ruffles that were easy to move in. Her hair is tied in a high ponytail with pink roses. Claude, his hair combed back, a bit similar to his time skip version, wore a long-sleeve white collared shirt that was tucked in his black long pants and shoes.
"Oh! You two look lovely!" Arisa grinned as she walked up to them.
"Thank you, Professor!" Hilda grinned, "So, what dance did you choose?" Arisa only smiled, "Okay, keep your secrets~" the pink-haired girl grinned, "But in all seriousness, may the best win!" And she quickly skipped towards Claude.
"The first couple that will go on stage is...The Ashen Wolves!" Alois announced and Arisa witnessed Yuri and Hapi walk to the stage and throw their cloaks in the air.
A gasp was heard all around and Seteth was about to say something till Rhea just shook his head. Also because of the squeal, Manuela unleashed when she recognized the positions Hapi and Yuri got in.
"It takes two to tango," Yuri smirked along with happiness and it began.
The magic crystals began playing in upbeat fast pace music with violins, drums, and a guitar. Arisa knew Chris must have added the damn guitars because that instrument didn't exist in Fodlan...yet. But, she could just see how many jaws drop at how fast Hapi and Yuri spun. Tango was an intimate dance with a basic pattern of step-step-step-step-close and characterized by long pauses and stylized body positions, but was also difficult. God, she remembered when she attempted tango when in her past life. Sadly she doesn't remember the age (damn you memory regression) but a friend of hers named Edith and Sophia were so good a dancing it. The fast movements, stretches of the legs, dancing to the beat. The way Yuri and Hapi never broke eye contact and the way they were close to each other, gods, girls were squealing. She spotted Dorothea just jaw opened and Manuela was screaming, "YES! YES! POP OFF!" She must have learned that from Alexandra...
Arisa had to give it to Chris, who just had a smug smile. Damn bastard. Fast, the lights, oh, the dance lasted for three minutes in total but it felt like it ended too quickly. No matter, the way ended the dance was in each other's arms, and one leg hooked on the other. The audience burst into cheers, clapping, and hollering. Rhea, had a rare smile on her face as she clapped along with everyone.
"Oh yeah..." Edelgard muttered, "We need to step up our game." The same thought ran through the minds of the remaining houses.
Yuri and Hapi bowed and quickly went backstage. The red orange-haired woman ran too quickly to her table to gulp down her water, which she did with great joy. She wiped her lips, taking deep breaths before turning to Chris with an "I'm going to kill you face."
"Come on! I know you had fun." Chris laughed as did Yuri.
"Damn you, Eyepatch! But...I have to admit, I had fun." Hapi showed a rare smile.
"Next up, we have the Black Eagles!"
With their cloaks removed, Edelgard was dressed in a crimson dress with beaded jewels, the long skirt had feathers but it looked beautiful. Her hair was curled and she wore a golden crown, similar to her emperor crown in the time skip. On her wrist she wore laces let loose so they would move smoothly. Hubert was dressed in a black tuxedo, his hair combed back, with a rose on the pocket of his chest.
"Now, let's see what Hanneman chose." Manuela chuckled because she doubted Hanneman chose anything good.
Boy, she was wrong.
The minute the sound of trumpets and saxophones began to play at a certain tune, Manuela's neck looked like it would snap the way she turned to look at Hanneman, jaw hanging open. The Professor looked like he was glowing as the couple held hands, Hubert and Edelgard never breaking apart as they spun all around the stage.
Hanneman chose, The Waltz.
The movements were so graceful and beautiful. The way Edelgard leaned back to create a balance point right between Hubert and then everything rotated at the center point. The smile on Edelgard's face and the smirk Hubert had, flowed by the harmonic jazz-like song, it felt romantic.
"A wisk...A throw away over sway from a double turning lock!" Alexandra gasped, "Ahh...It's like..." she felt her head throb and two images flashed in her mind.
A woman with crimson orange hair with Ruby emerald eyes, dancing with a young woman with dark brown hair with streaks of purple, and brown eyes. Both women were laughing and enjoying themselves as she stood beside a woman with half-lidded eyes but a smile on her face. The woman had black hair with green eyes, she was cheering them on.
"Who...I...know you three...Edith...Sophia...Unique." Alexandra muttered as her gaze focused back on the House Leader and partner.
Edelgard did one final turn with Hubert and he let go of her. She spun and end with her arms spread out towards the audience, that's right, she was the flower of the dance. She panted for air and smiled when the crowd burst into cheers. The two bowed to the audience and left.
"Oooohhhh! That damn man!" Manuela growled, she wanted to wipe that smug look off Hanneman's face but the dance was so beautifully executed she wanted to cry.
The woman slammed her face on the table as she wept, Shamir gave her a pat on the back, and Alois was clapping.
[—]
"Well, well, well. Looks like everyone is out for blood today." Claude chuckled as Hubert and Edelgard walked to the backstages with proud looks on their faces, chin up high, "Well Hilda, let's show these people how it's done." He said the girl huffed.
Both walked hand in hand, their chins up high, their footsteps on the wooden floor clicked beau de of the metal at the dolors of their shoes. The people were cheering on quilted down as they sat.
"Now, onto the Golden Deer!" Shamir yelled out and silence.
The music piece was once Manuela was proud of. One that was sung during the fear first performance of the dance style, FLAMENCO!
Arisa was suddenly very nervous as the music started and the pair stomped their heels hard on the wood and clapped their hands together and the audience was clapping along with them. This was a piece that Manuela wrote along with the lyrics, so her voice could be heard from the music device. The way Hilda moved her hands to move her skirt, made her and Claude look majestic dancing together. Alexandra had to admit, she was jealous but she still cheered them on.
"Gods, now I'm starting to regret not choosing an upbeat dance." Arisa rubbed her forehead as she looked to the ground, "Did I make the right choice?"
"Are you doubting yourself?!" Sothis roared in her mind, "Look at the Dimitri! Look at Lestia!" The goddess made her look at the two siblings that were whispering to each other seriously, "Are you going say that to them?"
"I would never." Arisa whispered as Sothis huffed and crossed her arms, "That's what I thought. So why doubting now?"
"Well, it's just...everyone just so into it the upbeat music." Arisa said as she looked at the stage, "Everyone went with some vibrant, colorful, upbeat, making one's heart race." She thought as Hilda spun herself and Claude joined her, "Then there's me...who chose something...calm."
"So what?" Sothis said, "Those children you trained to put their hearts and soul into it. They loved dancing or acting with you no matter how much they struggled. It's okay if your class loses. At least you and your kids had fun." Sothis smiled and appeared, hugging her from behind.
"You're right." Arisa smiled softly as the crowd erupted into cheers as Claude picked up Hilda by the waist and spun, "They did work hard...and I'm proud of them."
"Good. No more need to be said."
With the final steps done, the crowd erupted into cheers. She turned and saw the twins come up, without their cloaks. Lestia wore a traditional white ballerina dress with the tutu, but the colors she wore were that of royal blue and gold, the tutu, white with a bit of gold. A tiara made to poke like she was wearing snowflakes on her head. Her hair was tried in a bun, and she wore her blue Lions necklace. Dimitri was his Royal coat with the colors of the platoon, white, gold, and royal blue with tight dark blue tights, and his ballet shoes, like Listia. A crown he wore.
"This is it." The prince let out a shuttered breath, "It's time."
"Don't worry Arisa, we'll charm every last one of them!" Lestia winked and Arisa couldn't help but chuckled and hugged them, "I know you all can do it."
The twins smiled.
"Before you go, I have...one more gift for you two." She said and they looked at her confused.
She pulled out two small boxes, handing them to them, motioning to open them. They did.
"Aaahh! It's beautiful!" Lesia gasped as Dimitri carefully took out a Golden Lion pin with five blue gems, the colors of his eyes.
North, south, east, wear, the gems were set on one white one on the eyes of the lion. Arisa smiled as carefully picked them up and pinned them onto their costumes. Her eyes closed as she smiled and spoke.
"These are my gifts to you. You all have done so much and worked hard this year. I have watched you both grow and mature into the adults you are now. This is my gift to you both to show how proud I am." The two leaned in and rested their foreheads on each other, "Good luck, Dimitri, Lestia. Go out there and show them who you are."
"Professor...I'm going to cry." Lestia whimpered as her eyes were watering and Dimitri chuckled, "We'll make you proud, Professor."
"You already have."
[—]
"I wonder what Arisa chose?" Alexandra muttered as Amir was just smiling, "Amir, you have an idea?" She asked as she looked at her friend.
"I do~ But I'm not telling you~ All I will say is that I helped make the costumes." She said and everyone looked around as some of the lights dimmed, "Well damn, it started snowing."
"Shhh..." Mercedes shushed them as she sat with her mother and a young boy with brown hair and violet eyes.
"Hmm?" Amir cocked her head, "Hey kid, who are you?" She said and the boy turned to her.
"I'm Henri! Big sis Emily told to sit here with Aunty Charlotte and Big Sis Mercedes." The boy said and the females were confused, "I'm here to talk to Big Sis Edelgard!"
"What?"
[—]
Slowly and quietly the sounds strings behind plucked began to play. Out on the stage walked the two royals, to the opposite sides. Slowly and gracefully they walked to each other, taking their hands and the music began. A melodic yet happy song, the pianos, and harps playing their part as they moved gracefully on the stage. Each step and turn made, made the audience awed. Graceful, beautiful, like two swans dancing in a lake of snow.
"Oh my, such movements and Grace." Manuela awed, "Hmm...The dance reminds me of one back in Dadga." Shamir thought as Alois looked like he was going to cry tears of joy.
Dimitri picked up Lestia and rocked her before placing her on his shoulder, the girl gracefully moved her arms, making as if they were gliding in the air.
"The Royal Dance...The Nutcracker." Alexandra whispered, shocked, "This was our friend group's favorite dance to do during the winter. And Arisa," she looked to the stage to the music becoming more intense as if hope was flourishing the two spun together.
"A pirouette, a grand jete, point, three pirouettes, arms up and lean back, legs up on point." Arisa whispered to herself, "Pick her up but the waist, there."
"Ooh, the Pas De Qautre! Oh, this dance is beautifully executed. A balance of intensity and grace along with movements, I'm in love!" Manuela squealed as Shamir nodded in approval.
The final tune is played along with the final steep. Up Lestia is lifted, into his arms, and "Dun!" The last sound of the harp is played, the two catching their breath as the crowd was silent and slowly erupted into claps and cheers. Their fellow competitors were just shocked at their performance. Claps and cheers, some people even threw flowers onto the stage. Lestia and Dimitri had the biggest smiles on their faces as they hugged.
A joyous moment it truly was.

"Now onto to the results!" Alois announced as he held a paper, "In fourth place..."
Everyone held their breaths as well as their hands, the tensions high, "BLACK EAGLES!" Edelgard felt her heart drop but chuckle softly and nodded, accepting the result. Alois moved on to the next one, looking at Manuela for approval, and nodded.
"In third place, for their amazing and surprising performance...GOLDEN DEER!" Even in third place, Hilda and Claude were grinning and five fives each other.
"Now...onto the remaining two." Manuela said dramatically, "We will now announce the first place winner. Who shall it be...The Blue Lions, or Ashen Wolves?!" She said.
Breaths are held...hands are held, their hearts are racing. Deep breaths are being taken.
"And the winner is..."
[—-]
"Damn! And I was hoping the Blue Lions win!" Zander groaned as his siblings laughed.
The four house leaders and their partners sat together at a table at the food booth. Roast beef, braised meat, and all sorts of delicious foods are all on the table for everyone to enjoy. After the White Heron Cup, Zander quickly went up and invited the four houses, along with Manuela, Hanneman, Shamir, Catherine, and Xina to eat and drink with him. Kuza had also come to the festival and Arisa had just learned that Emily also brought Henri, Chri's and Edelgard's little brother. Cheers and festivities all day, the time for the ball was at least another five hours away before everyone would scurry to get dressed. But at this moment, everyone sat together to enjoy their food. On the necks of the Faerghus Twins, were silver medals that said second place, as well as they, held a bouquet. Glenn shook his head as Arisa just smiled, patted the heads of the twins as Zander took a swing of his drink. Amir laughed as she sat next to him. Even if the twins didn't win first place, she was still proud of them. Still, she had to admit, Chris going bold was a smart move.
"Well, brother, are you going to be at the dance?" Edelgard grumbled as Zander just laughed and patted her head, "Don't pat my head." Hubert's glare just made the prince snort.
"Now, little sister! You did amazing as well! You all did! And for that," he raised his fist in the air, "DRINKS ON ME FOR THE FOUR HOUSES!" Chris, Sylvain, and Zander had high fives while Glenn pinched the bridge of his nose along with Kuza and Emily.
"And since you two are officially adults." Chris grinned and held up two mugs of alcoholic eggnog, "It's only fitting you two drink this. The Holy Eggnog." Quite a few could help but laugh along.
"What about us?" Claude said and Zander handed him and Hilda a mug as well as to Edelgard and Hubert.
Hapi and Yuri already had theirs ready to cheer with everyone.
"Um...I don't think this is a good idea." Dimitri said because he doesn't do well with alcohol, "But...just this once wouldn't hurt." The prince said as he looked at his drink.
The sweet smell of vanilla and nutmeg was tempting.
"Atta boy Dimitri!" Zander said and all raised their mugs, "CHEERS!" Everyone yelled out, drunk.
A long slow swing the twins took and slammed their mugs on the table, "THAT WAS THE BEST! WHOOOOOO!" Lestia yelled while Dimitri coughed, but still enjoyed the drink.
"Is been so long. Look at you two. Now officially adults and next year, Dimitri is going to be crowned king and Lestia the crowned Duchess of The Territory of Keilman." Zander said and Lestia chuckled.
Because of what happened months ago during Cornelia's arrest and because Count Keilmen was now seen untrustworthy for the things he did, it was decided by Rufus that Lestia would be the one to take over Keilman Territory and become the new duchess of the land. Lestia was beyond shocked learning of this and swore to Dedue, Kuza, and Sadi that she would do everything in her power to make the land flourish and help rebuild Duscur. She will make sure to rebuild the land and make it a truly wonderful place. Fear will no longer drive the people to follow but she will earn their respect.
"Hey, I just noticed." Glenn said, "You two are now much taller than Arisa." Arisa chocked in her drink as a few laughed, "Scratch that, way taller." Arisa grumbled under her breath as she stood up.
"Alright! Let's see it!" Arisa growled and the twins stood up, standing beside her, "No...No...way." The woman was quacking when she realized the twins were 180 cm (5ft 10in) while she remained at 164cm (5ft 4in) tall...they outgrew her.
Lestia used to be the same height as her! And she used to be just a smidge taller than Dimitri! Arisa felt her soul leave her body as her friends burst out laughing at her misery. Dimitri just blinked before his surprised look shifted to a smile. Arisa can just feel the smugness off him in waves despite he wasn't smirking.
"Wipe that smug look off your face!" Arisa hissed as they sat back down, "But changing the subject, can we all talk about Sandy's dance?! I knew the dace was hard but seeing her do it for the first time...aaaahhh!" She squealed as she recalled back to the performance.
"I took so many pictures and Ignatz was just buzzing with new energy as he sketch!" Flayn said and the boy chuckled nervously but nodded, "Would you like to see them?" Ignatz said and everyone began passing around the sketches.
"Ignatz, can I commission you at some point?" Arisa said, "I'll pay you for your work!"
"Me too!" Zander said, "These sketches are amazing! Hell, just a few more years and you'll be painting royal portraits!" The man grinned.
"W-What?! I-I don't think you need to pay me that much! Also, doing such important works..." Ignatz said nervously and Ingrid piped in.
"Nonsense! You have done an amazing job and your works are amazing! Be proud and have confidence!" Ingrid grinned as the boy became flushed.
"But seriously, Sandana's dance was amazing! You all should have seen Glenn crying." Zander laughed and the man glared at him.
"You weren't any better yourself." Glenn shot back making all the crest bears stop laughing suddenly, "Please, you were worse than me! Constantly wiping your eyes and," he made a fanning motion towards his eyes, "Oooh! Why won't these damn tears stop?!" He mocked.
"Oh come on! At least I didn't have a running nose!" And Glenn and Zander got into a verbal fight.
"Wait, who cried during the dance?" Lorenz said and only those that had crest raised their hands, "Huh...how strange..." the boy muttered while Emily coughed and quickly came up with an excuse.
"Well, it's only natural that people from the crest houses cry, regardless if they have a crest or not. The dance that Sandana did was said to be a dance done by the goddess herself!" She said and everyone began whispering to each other, "But enough of that! Anyone down for a drinking contest?!"
"Whoa, kids!" The group all looked up and saw it was Jeralt and Sandana, "You kids have a ball soon. If you show up wasted, you are going to suffer Seteth's wrath." He said.
"Oh! Can I at least have a glass of Almyran Berry wine?!" Flayn pouted, making a few gasps.
"Flayn, when did you get so bold?!"
[—]
The moments of the festival were ones she would never forget. From carnival games to drinking contests (She was glad she had sober tea ready), to meeting new people and reuniting with others. Even in times like this, she is more than happy. She, Xina, and Bernadetta made their way to the cemetery where some people were. Bernadetta place a bouquet of lavender and silk flowers down on the tombstone and Xina placed two sake cups. Arisa put down a bottle of his favorite peach moonshine.
"Sigh, he would be drinking during this time." Xina chuckled, "During these times he would take me out to play games along with Dolca." The woman smiled softly.
"I'm curious." Bernadetta said, "What was your relationship with Florencio other than student?"
"Ah..." Xina said, "He...and Sandana were like adoptive parents to me. I never knew my mother, but they would talk to me about her. My father...unfortunately he was a scum bag. He made my mother suffer. Sandana and Florencio tried to save her but...she died by my father's hand." She sighed.
"I...I apologize!" Bernadetta said, "I am sorry if I brought painful memories and crossed the line!"
"Now, now." Xina playful chastises her, "It's alright. It's all in the past. Still..." she sighed as she looked up to the sky, "I hope death falls onto my sperm donor soon." Arisa snorted at that and the woman smirked at her.
"We should head back. The ball is starting soon."

Night had fallen and the sound festivities were still in the air but this time the students and guest made their way to the grand ballroom of the academy. Everyone dressed in their bear clothing, perhaps a few still somewhat hangover. The contestants of the White Heron cup wore their medals and many were excited. All four houses met up at the hallways before they were let inside. Arisa wore a dark green dress with a half cape that covered her right arm, her hair curled beautifully.
"I have no worthwhile memories of such events, yet I'm still looking forward to this one," Edelgard said as she stood beside Hubert.
"As am I, in the sense that I look forward to destroying all of the unworthy suitors who will inevitably swarm Lady Edelgard," Hubert said and Edelgard couldn't but let out a small laugh.
"This is the only ball of the year, and I see why. Everyone is absurdly excited..." Dimitri sighed, "Jeeezz! Loosen up a bit! You sound so detached!" Lestia said and Dedue agreed, "We are all encouraged to enjoy the ball tonight." The boy said and Sadi patted his back.
"The time has come for the annual ball. But first, an eve of merriment! OK, I'll admit it. The Officers Academy isn't as uptight as I thought." Claude said with a smile.
"Ooh, I adore such things! Dancing is the only thing I'm really good at anyway." Hilda said and a few shook their heads.
"There's a feast tonight, isn't there? Isn't there?! Ah, I can't want a moment longer!" Raphael grinned.
"I'm pretty excited about the ball, myself. It's not like we get to do things like this very often." Ashe said as he was looking forward to dancing with his siblings.
Talk next chatter was among them all, everyone was excited about the event but finally, a certain moment arrived.
"I have a proposition." Everyone gathered around to listen, "Let's all agree to meet back at the monastery exactly five years from today." Edelgard said and everyone began talking.
"Like a class reunion? That's a great idea!"
"Five years from now? Ah! That's when Garreg Mach Monastery will be holding the millennium festival."
"Ooh, a reunion? That sounds fun! I wouldn't miss it for the world!"
"How true. As the new leader of the Alliance, I will certainly have the occasion to attend and pay my respects to Lady Rhea."
"Hmm...It will be difficult with the positions we will be in." Dimitri said and Yuri slung his arm over his shoulder.
"Now Princeling! You're not just going to leave all of us hanging on that fine day?! It wouldn't be a reunion if one house leader is missing." Yuri smirked as Sylvain nodded in agreement.
"Agree, Didi. We'll help you sneak out if we have to!" Hapi laughed, "Storm, you in on helping?" Lestia gave her a thumbs up.
"I'll make an excuse to drag him here!" Claude chimed in, "Count me in as well!" Edelgard and Dimitri couldn't help burst out laughing.
"Alright, everyone! It's a promise then made by all four houses! We'll reunite here on this day." Dimitri said and he and the others turned to look at their Professors and instructors, "We love for you all to be there as well, Professors. After all, you're are all the hearts of The Four Houses." Manuela looked ready to cry as Hanneman smiled at them and Arisa felt her heart crushed by their words.
"Of course, we will." Chris said, "You all made us proud this year. No matter what House you were from. You all worked hard to get where you are now. So, be proud of yourselves." He said and Arisa nodded in agreement.
"And you, Teach? I guess it's hard to imagine that you'll still be teaching here five years from now... But I'm sure no matter where you end up, you'll come running at the chance to see your adorable little Golden Deer again, right?" Claude grinned and got "HEY SHE'S OUR TEACHER TOO!" From nearly all the students.
"Hmmm..." Arisa hummed and held her chin as she looked away, "I don't know. Maybe I'll be in Sreng by then." She said.
"Oh come on Teach! Have a heart!"
"Hahaha! I'm joking!" Arisa laughed, "Of course, I'll be there! Now, gather around, I have gifts for you all! Lestia and Dimitri, you two got yours earlier, alright." She said the twins gave her a thumbs up.
Each student was handed a small velvet box representing their classes along with Professors and her friends as well. She made these for them a week ago and she motioned them to open it. A gasp was heard as the students loved their gifts.
"These pins are beautiful!" Dorothea said as she stood by Ferdinand, "Look at the engraving and details." Her's was a Golden Eagle, made with four red jewels with the eye of the eagle a diamond.
The jewels of the Ashen Wolves were purple and the eyes of the wolf gold. The golden deer, colors were gold, and the eye of the deer, green. The Blue Lions were the same as the prince and princess. Manuela and Hanneman received matching pins that had the symbol of the Church of Serios with green jewels and white jewels for the eyes of the dragon. As for Alexandra, Amir, and Chris, they received pins of their crest with jewels of the colors that matched their eyes. Blue for Alex. Purple for Amir. Gray for Chris.
"Arisa, these are amazing! I'm curious when you made all these," Amir said, and Arisa just smiled, saying it was a secret.
"It's decided then. We will all meet here in five years. It's a promise."

The ballroom was filled with music as an orchestra played their instruments on the side. Students and staff stood by the side, greeting each other and chatting away. From the outside of the ballroom, Pollux watched even though she wore a veil over her face to hide her identity. She was dressed up, using magic to make her skin look human, a light peach, her hair tied up in two buns. She was nervous. Thankfully the only ones that knew her identity were the Blue Lions and Rhea but she was still worried.
"Pollux?" The girl jumped and turned to see Arisa walking towards her, "Afraid to go in?" She said.
"Professor..." Pollux said and looked back to the ball, "Do I even have the right to enjoy myself after what happened weeks ago? If Rhea saw me, I worry things would get ugly. Not to also mention...you and I haven't exactly spoken since..." she was worried she would offend her if she spoke more.
"Pollux." Arisa sighed, "What happened back then was not your fault. I chose to stand up and defend you. You tried what you could to break free. It's not your fault. It's Solon." She said and gently patted her head, "You are still a Blue Lion. And I promise you, we will save your brother." She said and Pollux felt her eyes watering.
"Do I even deserve a chance to live? I've done horrible things. I've done crimes against humanity. I'm...a homunculus. Do I even deserve the same rights are you humans do?" Pollux whispered and Arisa knelt, gently wiping a tear.
"Of course you do. You're not the only one who has done questionable actions." Arisa reassured the girl, "Here. This is my gift." Arisa said and handed her a small box, "Open it." Pollux listened and inside was a Blue Lion pin.
"It's beautiful..." the girl's eyes were sparkling and Arisa carefully put it on her dress.
"This is proof that you are a Blue Lion. This is proof that you are my student and friend." Arisa smiled softly and took her hand, "Now come on, let's go to the ball!"
"Yes!"

The tables were filled with different foods, mostly finger food, and desserts. Chocolate cakes, finger sandwiches, cups filled with wine, cider, and such. The music played beautifully as nobles, students, and guests alike chatted away. Pollux was in bliss as she was with Annette, Bernadetta, Hilda, Silkie, Forrest, Velouria, and Lysithea, the group eating sweets in bliss. The chef took in their praise as they ate away and not too far, Flayn was chatting away with Emily. Ignatz was somewhat intimated by Erick. He had heard stories of him, the man that inherited House Charon at age 20 and worked in Fodlan's Fang for many years. Fodlan's Fang was also known as the desert of Fodlan and one of the hottest and most dangerous places.
"Oh, so any plans for the future?" Emily's voice made him snap out of it, "Flayn, you could work for house Zoltras for a few years to improve in your medical arts. And Ignatz, why not join the art exchange program in Sreng?" She said.
"Arts Program? Are we allowed to do that?" Ignatz said, and Erick spoke up.
"My wife and I have been wanting to improve relationships with Sreng and a few years ago, with the help of Consort Regina, we spoke with officials of Sreng about creating a student exchange program. A family of Sreng would house you for a semester and we would house a student of Sreng to study in the Officers Academy or the medical program we have in House Zoltras." He explained.
"Oooh! Pardon me, but I just happen to hear your conversation!" Constance quickly came their way along with Lorenz, Lysithea, and Cyril, "Is it true such program exist?"
"It's currently in the works but once we get a reply in a couple of months, the program will be able to start." Erick smiled as he saw their fascinated looks.
"We also want to extend this to other nations like Dadga, Bridge, Almyra, Hydras, and such. And!" Emily grinned proudly, "We wish to open more schools in the arts! For example, I wish to open a school where students of all backgrounds may join for education, free." This was the idea Arisa gave her.
Looks like she was gathering a crowd because people were coming in to hear her and her husband. Even Edelgard was interested in this.
"Sigh...Leave it to Emily to gather a crowd and take the opportunity for advertisement." Rhea shook her with a look of disproval, "I don't like the idea of such with people from the outside." The woman muttered and Crescent scoffed.
"Please, she makes a better Fodlan leader than you. If Noa were here (she is), she would gladly support the girl." Crescent said and Rhea gritted her teeth but her eyes became cold the minute she spotted Pollux chatting away with Raphael and Leonie.
"What is she doing here?" Rhea growled and Crescent narrowed her eyes at her, "It's like The Sages are mocking me having it have the face of my wife."
"Enough." Crescent said, "That girl is innocent. She didn't choose to be born with that face. If Mesuline was here, she was have disapproved of your way of treating the girl."
"You don't know what my wife would have been like." Rhea spat and Crescent looked at her sadly.
"I know. But I know enough to know she wouldn't be happy with your choices."

"Ooohhh!" Dorothea squealed, "The lights are dimming, meaning it's time for the dance!" She said.
"Ahem!" The two turned and saw Ferdinand looking a bit nervous but bowed, his hand extended, "Dame Dorothea, may I have the honor to dance with you?" The songstress was trying to process what had just happened, "I-I understand if you do want to. I do apologize if I made you uncomfortable." The man said and before he knew it, Dorothea had taken his hand.
"Freddie, you aren't backing out me now, aren't you?" Dorothea smiled softly and led him to the dance floor, the man's ears, red.
The violins played gently s the harps had their strings plucked. The piano played a classic toon as the chandeliers looked like stars on the ceilings. The male students went to offer their hands to the ones they wished to dance with, all gathering on the floor, even some of the staff joined them. Hanneman coughed into his hand and looked in the other direction as he offered his hand to Manuela, who couldn't believe her eyes. But a small yet shy smile bloomed on her face and she took it, both walking onto the dance floor. Glenn and Felix were not fans of dancing, one look from their mother made them go ask Ingrid and Bernadetta. Lady Romea was quite excited to meet The Varley Girl after the dance with her husband. As the dance went on, Claude spotted Alexandra and quickly picked her up from behind, and spun her onto the dance floor. The woman was taken by surprise and did a light smack on his chest, but she did laugh as his hand was around her waist and led her on. Zander quickly put down his drink the minute he saw Count Rowe's nephew try to ask Amir to dance but Kuza, the protective brother he is, beat his friend to it. Glenn just smirked.
"Hhhmmmm...I'm glad they are all enjoying themselves." Arisa thought as she took a bit of her chocolate cake, "Edelgard is dancing with Beleth, surprise. And Lestia dragged Hubert out. Ah, there are Marrinne and Lorenz." She smiled as she watched more and more of her students get on the dance floor.
She spotted Dimitri dancing with another girl and smiled softly as she walked around, but what surprised her was seeing Seteth and Sandana dancing. From the looked on their faces, looks like they were whispering something serious to each other. The woman sighed and decided to go for some fresh air, her feet hurting a bit from the heels but also because she was dancing a bit with Jaden, Henri, and Kaimu.
"Come on Teach!"
"Whoa!"
Claude had suddenly pulled her in and she wanted to wipe that cheeky grin off his face.
"You can't just me drag out here!" Arisa laughed as they spun, "And where's Alex? Did you two get separated?" She raised an eyebrow but all the boy did was laugh and nudge his head towards the left.
There, she spotted Alex with a stiff face dancing with Monica, who also had a stiff face. Arisa couldn't help burst out laughing as she was spun to her next partner, which was Dominic. The young boy was pouting because he wished Kama were at the ball but sadly she wasn't a student yet.
"Now, Now." Arisa grinned, "Who said Kama wasn't here?" Dominic perked up and the woman pointed to the sweets table where the said girl was talking with Annette and Caspar, "I'll see you later." Dominic said and spun her.
"My teacher!" Edelgard gasped as Arisa nodded, "Well, this brings back memories from years ago." She said and both turned to see Beleth and Zander get into a verbal spat and Amir pinching the bridge of her nose as Catherine and Kuza held the two men back, "Ha...just like back then."
"Indeed." Arisa said as they walked, "Have you met Henri yet?" She said and the princess smiled sadly and nodded.
"I did. I am happy to know one sibling is alive and thriving. Once I become Emperor, I will do everything in my power to reform the Empire. I'm sure with you, the Black Eagles, and our friends by our side, we will be able to change Fodlan for the better." She said and Arisa nodded.
Spun to her next partner and it was Yuri, who grinned. Placing his hand on her waist, he waltz around the floor and he could feel the stare of a certain prince, "Well, hello there, friend. Still alive after who knows how many dances?" He said and Arisa rolled her eyes.
"My feet hurt but I'll dance as many times as I need to," Arisa said and the music faded away.
The two stopped and bowed politely to each other before he patted her head. Arisa just realized...he was taller than her.
"Oh? Looks like I'm taller now."
"Fuck you."
[—]
"Siiggghh...Finally, break." Arisa let go a sigh of relief as she walked out of the ballroom and into the courtyard, "Snow on Christmas, fitting." She thought as she looked up to the night sky, seeing some snowfall.
They were a few magic crystals to light up the place and a few students sitting at the benches talking to each other. She let out another sigh as she sat down to let her feet rest a bit. She danced so much and it stunk a bit to see Yuri was now taller than her. Sad she was going to remain a short woman.
"Hey, kid." She turned and saw Jeralt walking her way, "The brats been keeping you busy, huh." He said and looked around, "I thought you be in there with them." He said and Arisa shook her head.
"Despite being a chaperone, all of them had another idea. Poor Alex got paired with Monica for a while and everyone kept pass time me around like a hot potato." Arisa let out an exaggerated sigh as she picked up her feet a bit, "My legs..."
"Well..." she looked up, "Think you could manage one more dance for your old man?" Jeralt said and Arisa took his hand.
Step by step. Slow and steady. Arisa was a bit surprised her father knew how to dance considering the only time she ever saw him dance was with Miss Charlotte.
"I think it's been quite a few years since I've seen you dance. You're really good at it." Arisa said as he spun her.
"Well, I used to dance a long time ago. Around the time I met your mother." Jeralt said, "Now that I think about it, I never told you how we met." He said, "Your mother was a shy one and would often watch the dance from the sidelines, yet she yearned to join. Sandana and two friends of ours named Cherche and Dolca, dragged her out. Not the best way to introduce someone to a dance." He chuckled nervously at the memory.
"But at that moment after Florencio scolded the three, I took the chance and asked her to dance. You should have seen her smile." Jeralt smiled softly, "Graceful, beautiful, but the joy she felt as we danced during the night was what captured my heart." He said, "We danced in our moments. In the time of our vows, and we looked together towards the sunrise towards the future." He said and Arisa looked down to the ground.
"But you stopped after she passed away," Arisa muttered and Jeralt looked at her sadly.
"And you? Looks like you've improved. Not as shaky as before." He said and Arisa scoffed, "I learned a trick or two!" Arisa pouted.
"But truthfully," Arisa sighed as she looked away a bit, "I always wanted to learn dancing from you since I was a child. I remember during the times we stayed in villages we helped out, there would be celebrations. People would dance and eat but you, Sandana, and Florencio would always sit and drink in silence while everyone else danced." She explained, "You always told me to enjoy myself but I noticed you especially looked like you were looking for someone. As if yearning." She said the man's eyes slowly widened.
"So, out of consideration, I would sit next to you and I decided not to ask you. I felt like it would bring you pain if I did." She muttered softly, "Now that I am older, I understand why you were that way. I didn't want to hurt you or see you become sad, so...I thought it was better to sit in silence with you." She confessed and Jeralt stared at her for a moment before he spoke.
"Kid, just because you never said anything, I felt I should have left it at that. Looking back at those days, perhaps...no...I should have been more open. And then, that day happened." Jeralt remembered vividly when his daughter jumped in front of him, the way the knife pierced right through their chest, "I never will forget the day you fell into my arms cold.
"I thought I lost you but seems miracles do happen at times." Jeralt smiled softly as he patted her head, "I took you for granted and it wasn't till I nearly lost you that realized that just because you were a stoic kid, didn't mean I shouldn't have dote on you." He said.
"I may not say or show how much I love you as much as should but I want you to know this." He said and placed his forehead on hers, "You mean the world to me, Arisa. You're my one and only precious daughter." He said and wiped the tears that were falling from her eyes.
"I know dad. I know." Arisa whimpered.
"You got your secrets but know I'll away be there for you. And when you are ready, I'll be there to listen and be your shoulder to cry on." He said and Arisa suddenly hugged him tightly.
"I swear...I swear I will not fail...I will save you...That's a promise." Arisa thought as her father patted her head, "Thank you, dad." Arisa said and the man chuckled softly as she let go of him.
"Glad to help you out."Jeralt smiled, "Hmm...we should dance more often."
"It feels nice dancing like this with you," Arisa said as they spun around.
"It'll be good practice..." Arisa raised an eyebrow, "For your first dance on your wedding day." Jeralt grinned and Arisa's eyebrows looked like they shot off her, "Oh, I can imagine you in a bridal dress already."
"Dad, I thought you didn't want me to get married?!" Arisa screeched and the man laughed.
"Kid, I want you to be happy."
"But isn't it too early to think of that?!"
"Suck it up, kid! You're still my daughter and I got plenty of time to embarrass you!"
"APAAAAA!" Arisa whined but couldn't help laughing along with him, "Ah! I nearly forgot." The two stopped and held out a small box to him, "You're not the type for fancy things so I thought I make you this." She said.
Jeralt raised an eyebrow as he took the box and opened it but smiled softly seeing a pin in the shape of a cracked sword that said "Blade Breaker". Four jewels pointing north, south, east, west, and a white one on the pommel of the sword.
"I love it." He said, "Do you mind if you put it on for me?" And she shook her head.
Carefully she placed the pin on his shirt and smiled.
"It looks good on you!"
"Thank you, Arisa. Thank you."

"Running away? I understand. You hardly had the time to breathe in there. It must be hard to be the favorite teacher at the ball! Poor, poor Professor!" Sothis snickered as she floated beside the woman, "Not also mention the heartfelt father and daughter moment." She said and Arisa rolled her eyes.
"It's difficult, you know that." Arisa groaned as she shook her head, "Ha!" Sothis pointed at her, "I knew you have a favorite!"
"Professor? What are you doing here?"
Arisa looked up and was surprised to see Dimitri, she quickly walked up to him.
"I thought you were going to dance with Claude," Arisa said and Dimitri let out a small laugh.
"Haha, good one, Professor. I could see saving a dance for Edelgard, but Claude is another story. Lestia already dragged me through the floor. In any case, I have no intention of dancing with anyone at the moment." He said as she nodded.
"Hmm...Care for a walk?" Arisa said and he smiled and nodded.
The garden of the monastery was peaceful during the Knight. A few faes going around and a few sleeping on the roses. The snow falling slowly tickled her cheeks, a breeze made her shiver a bit but Dimitri was quick to place his cape on her.
"This...brings back memories from our younger days. Hm, kind of like when snuck out to the garden on this day." She said and he nodded as they walked to the center of the garden.
"Oh." Arisa was surprised to see a small cherry tree, "I thought Dedue planted the tree in the greenhouse." She said the two walked up to it together, "There is even a protection spell on it."
"Lady Rhea allowed us to plant it here." Dimitri said, "We wanted you to feel better."
"Arisa, will you join me for a bit? You must be getting a bit tired of the ball by now." He said and Arisa smiled softly and nodded.
[—-]
Carefully the two walked up the steps of the Goddess Tower as they made their way up. The wooden door was unlocked and the prince opened it for her to let her in and then closed it. Arisa let out a small breath as she looked up at the night sky. The tower had always been her favorite place to sneak away but also because it was one of the tallest. She could see people celebrating at the city festival. A giant bonfire lighting up the place, civilians dancing a traditional dance wearing dresses and colors of dark green, blue, and white. The women stomped their feet as the men bowed and began dancing a Barynya. Children joined along and she spotted a few of their friends had left the ball to join the people. Emily was dancing away with Erick as was Zander with Amir. The loud drums and chimes of bells brought her joy. Alexandra had also snuck out of the ball with Claude, Ingrid, Bernadetta, Felix, and Glenn. The couples dance away and enjoy food.
"Looks like everyone is having fun out there." Dimitri said as he stood beside her, "It's quiet here, isn't it, Arisa? That reminds me. Do you know the legend associated with the Goddess Tower?" He asked and Arisa nodded.
"I do. One of my favorites." Arisa smiled softly.
"They say that wishes made in this tower will come true. I wonder who came up with such a silly notion." He chuckled and Arisa raised an eyebrow at him.
"Do you not believe it?" She asked and Dimitri shook his head a bit.
"Legends are legends, nothing more. I doubt many believe that wishes can be granted. The goddess just watches over us from above... That is all. No matter how hard someone begs to be saved, she would never so much as offering her hand. And even if she did, we lack the means to reach out and grasp it. That's how I feel about her." The prince confessed and Sothis felt her heart sting.
The Goddess wished she could do more but she had no such power despite being a divine being. Even so, in moments like this, all she could do was hear their voices and reassure them with an invisible embrace.
"Hmm..." Arisa turned to, "Then if we can not reach the hand of the Goddess, then...I'm sure she at least hears us. Even the divine can not interfere at times." Arisa sighed as she turned back to look at the sky, "But even so...I'm sure some of them wish they could help us even if they can't." She said and Dimitri nodded.
"I understand a bit what you mean." The prince sighed, "In any case... I suppose there's no harm in passing the time with silly legends. What do you say, Arisa? Care to make a wish? We are here on the night of the ball. Why don't you try wishing for something?" He said and Arisa shook heard head and winked a bit.
"If I say my wish, it won't come true." She said and the prince couldn't help but chuckle.
"Alright, keep your secret. As for me...A wish of my own... I suppose my wish...is for a world in which no one would ever be unjustly taken from us. Or...something along those lines." He said and Arisa nodded.
"I like it."
"Thank you, Professor. Although, at a time like this... Perhaps it would make more sense for me to wish that we'll be together forever. What do you think?"
Arisa went silent as did the prince. And right when he was about to speak...
"I wish the same."
Dimitri froze as Arisa fully turned to him, her face serious but there also seemed to be hesitation. Arisa took a deep breath, her hands intertwined to calm herself but she was shaking. Her heart was beating fast, it felt like it was about to burst but she would not...NO...SHE WILL NOT ALLOW DIMITRI TO BACK OUT!
"I-I also wish...that we can be together forever. T-That we can continue to share moments like this. T-That we can spend time together and stand side by side. I-I-I...w-w-want! —" She stopped talking when Dimitri held up his hand and stumbled back a bit, his right hand covering his face.
"T-This isn't a joke right?" His voice became a higher by an octave, "I-I...Y-" his eyes wide, cheeks turned reader than a tomato, he looked at her frantically, "Y-You actually...!"
"YES, I MEAN IT!" Arisa screeched despite how red she was becoming and Sothis was howling, "I WANT TO BE WITH YOU!" She yelled and Dimitri was just overwhelmed by such heartfelt confession, "P-Please don't make me repeat it..." Arisa was looking like a teapot at the moment and before she knew it, she was in his arms.
"You mean it...You really do mean it..." Dimitri whispered and finally looked up, "I-I'm sorry. I-I'm..haha! I'm just so overcome with joy. Y-You.." Arisa nodded and despite how nervous she was, she placed her hand on his cheek, gently caressing it.
"Yes. Yes, Dimitri, I'm confessing to you. I love you. I love you more than anything in the world." She said...
"But..." the prince looked at her confused as his expression saddened, "There is something serious I need to speak about before...anything else can happen." She took a deep breath as she back away a bit from him.
"Dimitri, there is something I must confess. I...have long held onto this guilt and it's time you find out the truth." She said, her hands intertwining together.
"What's wrong?" He asked, the woman took a deep breath to try and calm her racing heart, her expression, neutral.
"Did you ever ask yourself why you didn't remember me for a while after we met at your mother's funeral?" She said, "And you remember our conversation in the kitchen four years ago?"
"Always." He said as Arisa took another deep breath, "Does this have something to do with your reaction when we reunited?"
"It does." She said and felt like her heart was about to burst, her hands intertwined, "Dimitri, the reason you did not remember me for those few years was...because of me."
"I...do not understand," Dimitri said and Arisa let out another shaky breath.
"The day after I saved you, I made a decision. A stupid, foolish decision I made because I let my fear take over." She said, trying to calm herself.
"Don't cry. Don't cry. Don't cry."
She kept repeating in her head.
"Dimitri...I erased your memories of our first meeting."
Dimitri's eyes slowly widened as he processed what she said. Seeing his silence, Arisa continued.
"I was...afraid of how my meeting with you, Lestia, Ingrid, Felix, and Sylvain would affect you all. I..didn't want any of you to be hurt in the future because of me. Fodlan...was very different back then so, I felt at that time it would be better you all forgot me." Again, he remained silent.
He wanted to say something. He wanted to. He really did.
"You...had no right." Dimitri managed to say and Arisa smiled sadly in shame as she closed her eyes, her expression, pained, "Continue."
"We were young back then. Imagine a four-year girl who fears for the lives of children she just met. What if they become in danger because they were involved with me? What if the Church of Serios questions them?" Arisa said as remembered those emotions, "It was painful...I didn't want to do it but at that moment, I felt was necessary."
"You're right. I had no right to take your memories. It's also one of the main reasons why I reacted such a way five years ago. I didn't expect you to remember. But, I knew I couldn't break the promise I made to you so I thought, let's meet again. I'll introduce myself again." She said.
"But when you said my real name, I just panicked. The guilt from that time just came pouring back and the only thing that came to my mind was to run away." She sighed.
"Add to the fact that I was wary of Cornelia and she ended up attacking me and Chris to take our blood...my fears were more confirmed." She sighed again, "Yes, I was terrified but at the same time I also felt happy you remembered me, but I didn't know exactly how to approach you so I decided to go by the name of Kiana Kalsana."
"And from there...well...you remember how you found out."
"There is something I must also say." Dimitri said and let go of a sigh, "Two years. I didn't remember you for two years but..." he looked at her, his eyes scanning her for a moment, "Do you recall the day all the Hero Relics glowed?"
Arisa cringed. She visibly cringed, making Dimitri raise an eyebrow.
"Yes." She said.
"It was as if something within me was broken. Sylvain, Ingrid, Glenn, and Felix also told me they remembered someone but they didn't know who. It took a few days but I remembered you. I think that day had to do with breaking your spell." He said and Arisa nodded a bit quickly.
"The day the relics glowed, was my fault." He looked at her, his eyes saying to continue, "That day, a group of assassins attacked me. I ended up casting a powerful spell that backfired on me. Thus, it resulted in awakening..."
"The Crest of Flames." Dimitri finished for her, "The mother of all Crest awakened so...the relics responded to it." He sighed and turned to look out the window.
"Now you know." Arisa said as she closed her eyes, "I don't expect you to forgive me. I also don't expect our relationship to remain the same." She said, "I understand if you no longer wish to speak to me after graduation. But...thank you for hearing me out. And, thank you for being my friend." Arisa said and turned, "I'll see you next week."
And right when she was about the walk, his hand grabbed her wrist and pulled her right in his chest. His arms wrapped around her neck, the same way Sothis would hug her. She was shocked, frozen, still processing what happened.
"You're right, our relationship won't be the same but at the same time it will." He whispered in her ear, "I can only imagine the pain you went through when you did it. You didn't want to do it...didn't you?" He said and Arisa's lip trembled.
"No...I didn't..." she whispered, her voice, shaky, "I didn't want to do it but I felt I had to. I just didn't want you to get hurt." She said, her composure, crumbling.
"Arisa, I...understand why you did it. I'm not angry. Perhaps the best word to describe what I am feeling is conflicted. Remembering how things were back then, it's understandable." Dimitri sighed and held just a bit tighter.
"But I guess at the same time, if you didn't do what you did, we wouldn't have the relationship we have now. We wouldn't have formed the bonds we have today and worked together and gotten to know each other...even if it was a slow process. I guess what I'm trying to say is...thank you, for keeping your promise even if I were to never remember those times." He said and Arisa turned towards him, grabbing him by the collar of his uniform and...
Kissed him.
Dimitri froze as he felt the warmness of her lips on his. Soft, almost silken against his own and before he knew it, all the yearning he'd had for her came out. His hand flew behind her head and her hands tangled in his hair. She could feel a soft tickle against her nose, fingers cradling through her hair. His lips were a bit sweet and tangy from the grape cider that he drank at the ball. They kissed, clumsy, teeth chattering against each other but one thing for sure, it was filled with love. The warmness and yearning they had for each other as they parted lips, panting for air, and slowly looked up to each other's eyes.
"I love you..." Dimitri whispered, "I love you." He repeated and she drew him toward her with her eyes, this time, he gently placed his lips on hers, "I love you..." Arisa whispered back, and they kissed once more.
It wasn't rushed this time but they took it slowly as they held each other, their eyes closed as they melted into the sensation of each other. To the prince, her lips were soft, sweet, he could taste a bit of vanilla from the cake she ate earlier but right now, he would never forget this moment. Her lips parted and it was enough for him to slip his tongue in.
"!" Sothis squealed at the prince's bold action while Arisa was taken by surprise.
They parted and Arisa place her index finger on his lips. She looked at him with a weak yet embarrassed glare.
"I-It's a bit too early for the tongue." She said but she looked like a shocked cat when instead grabbed her hand and kissed her palm before smirking a bit despite how embarrassed he was.
"Is this fine?"
"Oh, you!" Arisa grumbled and rested her head on his chest, "It's fine...this is fine."
"But in seriousness, I think we should wait for now." She said and he nodded.
"I do as well...So I'll wait. And when the time is right, I hope everyone will accept our relationship." He said softly.
"You have my father's approval...somewhat." she chuckled a bit and looked up to him, she narrowed her eyes, "Hmmmm...it not fair I am now the shortest."
"Hmm..." Dimitri cocked his head and smiled as he picked her up, she was so light, "Well, now I can do this."
"You did not..." Arisa glared down at him, "Put. Me. Down." He smiled, "Now."
"Consider this karma for that day years ago during training." He grinned and enjoyed the way she squealed when he had her sit on his arm, "Brings back old memories."
"You dork." Arisa grumbled as she leaned down and rested her forehead on his with a smile, "But you're my dork." She caressed his cheek, the gentle touch of warmth was something he yearned for.
"Your hands are warm."
"And you're somewhat cool. I like it."
"Dimitri," Arisa smiled softly, "I will go with you. To Faerghus. I will go with you." She said and his eyes widened.
"Are you sure? What will Rhea say?" He said because he was worried about her considering how Rhea already had a strange obsession with her, "Speaking of Rhea...no, I'll tell you a different time." he sighed.
"Rhea maybe my grandmother but she has no say in my life choices. I want to stand beside you and help the Kingdom heal." She said as both turned to look out to the sky, he hugged him behind and rested his chin on her head, "The change we want...it may take months, years, but I think it's possible. I really do." She smiled softly as she leaned in a bit.
"Petra, Edelgard, Yuri, Claude, and I all had serious discussions about the future. We want our nations to thrive and be free. Sigh, we all also agreed that the Crest System is one of the main problems of Fodlan. It will be a difficult battle but we believe it's possible to tear it down. Even if it will be a slow process." He said and kissed her cheek softly, "I pray everything will be okay."
"Ah, I nearly forgot." Dimitri said and let go of her, reaching into his pocket, he took out a red velvet box, "This is my gift to you. Happy Day of Blessings." He smiled softly.
Arisa carefully opened the box and smiled softly seeing it. Dimitri knew Arisa liked simple things and truthfully he had a hard time picking out a gift. In the end, he ended up asking Hilda, Dorothea, and Lestia for help. The girls had become so excited in helping choose a gift but in the end, a necklace with a small dragon holding onto a jade sphere with a matching pair of teardrop shape earrings was what he chose.
"It's beautiful. I love it." She smiled softly and hugged him tightly, "Can you put it on for me?"
"Of course," Dimitri said and carefully had the string go over her head.
He smiled softly and was suddenly confused when Arisa held one earring to him. The woman smiled softly as she placed it in his hand, closing his fingers around it.
"I want you to hold onto this one. One the day we can finally be together, then you can give it back to me. Until then, this is my promise to you." She closed her eyes and leaned her forehead on his hand, "No matter how apart we are, I will always love you. I will always be with you even if I am not there physically." She opened her eyes and smiled.
"Why does it sound like you are saying goodbye?" The prince thought but he kept it to himself and nodded.
Finally after so long...they could finally hold each other.
[—]
"Where were you guys?!" Alexandra and Amir said to the couple, "The final dance is about to start! Let's go!" They said.
"Duty calls." Dimitri and Arisa said in unison and laughed, taking each other's hands as they went onto the dance floor.
More and more couples joined and they bowed to each other. The first tune, Arisa stopped and looked at Chris shocked because they both recognize the tune. Chris was dancing with Gina, even Alexandra stopped because the tune was...
Dancing Bears
Painted Wings
Things I almost remember.
And a song someone sings
Once upon a December.
Gracefully and carefully, the two danced, twirling to the music. Almost lost in a trance looking into each other's eyes as they held hands. The prince was taking the lead this time as they passed a few of the staff. The smile on their faces said it all.
Someone holds me safe and warm.
Horses prance through a silver storm.
Figures dancing gracefully across my memory.
"Huh." Jeralt said as he stood beside Elder Bara, "Dangnabit, so it is the prince." The man sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose, "Amir also fallen for a prince and The Riegan Rascal looks like he is head over heels for Alexandra." He grumbled and Rensen chuckled.
"Now my friend, feeling protective aren't we?" He said and Elder Bara smiled as she watched Petra and Ashe dance, "Let us enjoy these festivities. We can worry about children later. Speaking of children..." Like a snake, her eyes quickly went to her grandson that was finally speaking to a woman with deep blue hair, "Who is that woman?"
"Oh, that's Hai. Rhea's niece." Jeralt said and the woman began to laugh eerily at how well her grandson and the woman were getting along, "Oh no...Elder Bara."
"Let's see how things go." Rensen sighed.
Someone holds me safe and warm.
Horses prance through a silver storm.
Figures dancing gracefully across my memory.
"Look at you, I'm glad to see you're doing well. " Zander said as he spun Amir back into his arms, "We got some catching up to do." He said and the woman smiled softly.
"That we do. How have things been so far with you?"She asked and Zander's smile withered a bit.
"It has been difficult, I admit. With everything going on and the process of a few nobles losing their titles, hopefully, things go smoothly. But, there is something I want to ask." He said and she looked at him confused.
Another spin then back together he smiled softly and spoke.
"Would...you consider coming to work with me in Faerghus?" He said and her eyes widened slowly, "With Duscur being rebuilt and working on our lands, I want someone who I can trust to work with them. I also asked Dedue, Sadi, and Kuza. Sadi and Dedue wish to also help their land and Lestia and Dimitri. So...what do you say?" He said and Amir chuckled softly before, placing her forehead on his, sending the man turn red.
"Of course." She smiled and gently placed her lips on his cheek.
has stopped working.
Far away,
Long ago,
Glowing dim as an ember,
Things my heart
Used to know
Things it yearns to remember
And a song someone sings
"Whoa! Sandana, are you alright?" Jeralt said as he saw the woman stumbling down the hallway with a glass of wine, "Alright, you drank too much." He said and the woman stood up quickly and dusted herself.
"Nope! Nope! I'm fine! Just...ugh...I caught one of the younger kids of the village sneak off with the wine glass I'm holding and ended up kicked on the knees...Ooooofff..." Sandana groaned and Jeralt noticed her knees were red.
"Okay yeah...I recognized those boot marks. The little rascals must have been adventurous today." Jeralt sighed and took the glass from her as both looked out to the ballroom to see the students dancing.
"Brings back memories." Sandana muttered as she crossed her arms, "5 gold Amir gets with the first prince. 4 gold that Alex gets with the Future Duke, and 10 gold that Arisa gets with The Second Prince." Jeralt slowly looked at the woman with a murderous glare, "What? It's only natural you and Rensen give the talks to those boys."
"Good lord." Jeralt grumbled as he pinched the bridge of his nose, "And you, how was your talk with Seteth?" He asked and the woman let go of a sigh.
"We...We have our differences." She said and Jeralt sighed, "I know what you're going to say, but for right now...I want to take my time. I know if Florencio were here, he tell me the same thing I just said." She said and Jeralt nodded.
"Anyway, I'm going to sleep early." Sandana said and patted his coat, "You should be careful where you walk. You had a spiderweb on you." She grinned and the man chuckled, "Good night."
"Good night Sandana."
The woman waved goodbye and left walking through the dark hallways of the academy. Once in a while, she would pass a few students and a few of the brave staff that had snuck off. She took a deep breath as she arrived at her room and shut the door, sliding down onto the floor. She let out a heavy breath, her eyes watering as she brought up her hand and opened it. She stared at the pin of a broken sword before her hand balled into a fist. She took a deep breath and whispered...
"No more strings….."
