"Everyone...Make sure Rhea does not take me to her chambers."
[—-]
Dimitri was silent as Arisa laid in his arms in front of him as he rode Red Hare beside the others. He had so many questions as to why the professor changed. Now, every one of the four houses knew the dragon that saved them, was her. He had so many questions as well as who the spirit called Cethleann. Did that mean that Saint Cethleann was alive and among them? No, that couldn't be it, Saint Cethleann was no immortal. The prince took a deep breath as he looked down at his lover, who was sleeping peacefully in his arms. Did she truly meet The Goddess? And the fact that she was quick to reprimand him for seeing himself as Nemesis, the words she spat...it was as if she knew Nemesis. Then there were the questions from the other night. Is true that Nemesis killed The Goddess?
"I know you all have many questions."
Christians' voice made him snap out of it and looked toward him. The black Griffon, Skylar, walked beside them as no flying units had the energy to fly and just walked. Chris let out a small sigh and pointed to his ears.
"Dimitri...can you check her ears?" Chris said and the prince was confused but nodded.
He carefully moved the hair to the back of her ears and his widened, seeing her ears were pointed.
"What on earth?" Lestia gasped, "Does that mean her chest got bigger?"
Smack!
"Ow! Edelgard!" Lestia glared at her step-sister, "It was a joke!" The Princess just glared at her but Amir could see the specks of pink on the four leader's faces.
"Back to the subject," Alexandra coughed, "We'll answer some of your questions." She said and Claude was the first to speak.
"Did the professor meet the goddess?" He said and Alexandra nodded, "And you know this because?"
"Might as well confess." Alexandra sighed, "It was Arisa, Amir, and the Goddess that saved me from Cornelia." She said, "The goddess...is just a normal girl who loved music, dance, singing and...was our friend." She smiled sadly and looked at her friend.
"She's been with Arisa since she was born." Chris said and chuckled softly, "I won't say more but she watched you kids grow up. Sothis... cared about you all." He said and the group finally arrived back at Garreg Mach, "Listen...Arisa was serious about not letting Rhea take her."
"Even if Rhea commanded it, we wouldn't let her take the Professor." Yuri said, "By the way, will Xina be fine with everyone?" He said, worried.
Xina and the others told the trio and the four house leaders to go on head and that they would catch up. They were against it at first but they wouldn't budge.
"She'll be fine. Xina knows how to hold the fort down. Manuela and Hanneman are with them as well." He said as they entered the gates.
Waiting at the entrance were Jeralt, Jaden, and Kaimu, along with Seteth and Crescent. Jeralt ran quickly to them. His eyes widened at the sight of his daughter and before he even had a chance to say anything, Kaimu had quickly run-up to the pair.
"So Big Sis is like me! Wow! Wow!" Kaimu grinned, "Big Sis, we can fly together now!" He giggled and Jeralt looked at him confused.
"Kid, what do you mean?" Jeralt said and Kaimu pulled his hair back, showing his pointed ears, "Grandpa, it means Big Sis has ears like now! We can fly high! High! Dad said that we're what we call Manaketes! Dragons!" He grinned and Jeralt's eyes were wide as did everyone else.
Everyone in Remire Village knew about Kaimu's ears but they still loved him no matter what. And Florencio did inform Jeralt that Kaimu was special but never said why.
"So this is what Florencio meant..." Jeralt whispered as he looked at his daughter in the prince's arms, "Even so...I'll love you." He thought as Dimitri got off and was about to hand his daughter to him when Lady Rhea burst through the door.
"Are they back?! Are they back?!" Rhea gasped as she most likely ran over to the place, "Gasp! Oh...She's beautiful." The woman cooed as she got closer.
Her eyes trailed up and down, taking the chance to study her features but one thing she wanted to confirm, she reached out to move a lock of her hair when...
Smack!
"Don't. Touch. Her."
Kaimu snarled suddenly and smacked her hand away. Rhea and the others were stunned as the boy stood protectively in front of the couple and even Jaden joined in, growling, his fox tail, puffing out. Yuri knew better than anyone that kids were more sensitive to negative energy and could sense when someone had wicked intentions. Then...if that was the case, what was Rhea planning? Rhea's right hand stung. The boy smacking her suddenly brought her a flashback of when her hand was serve d by the Faerghus prince five years ago. The woman gritted her teeth yet she put on a smile.
"Kaimu dear, it's alright. I'm just checking if your elder sister Arisa is okay." Rhea said but it seemed the boy was not buying it.
"No!" He and Jaden quickly clung to Dimitri, making the prince flustered, "Big brother Dimitri! Protect her!" They yelled and Dimitri chuckled nervously but cleared his throat to speak.
"Lady Rhea, I apologize on behalf of the children. For now, we will take the Professor to her room to rest." He said and Rhea raised her hand.
"No need." Rhea smiled, "Take her to my chambers. I will personally take care of her." She said as held out her hands but...
"Everyone...make sure Rhea does not take me to her chambers."
"No." Alexandra said and quickly stood in front of the four, "Before Arisa fell asleep, she told us that she wanted Jeralt to take her to her room. And watch over her." The way she said it made Claude fear for her life.
Rhea's smile only became strained as the woman intertwined her hands and took a deep breath.
"Very well. Jeralt, take your daughter. Do let me know when she wakes up." And with that, Rhea turned and left, Cresent quickly following her along with Seteth but the advisor stopped and turned to Jeralt who now had his daughter in his arms.
"Jeralt...If Rhea tries anything on your daughter, know that Crescent and I are on your side." He said and left.
Seteth did not miss the crazed look in Rhea's as she quickly made herself through the hallways and to her room. But the two brothers nodded to each other, it was time to confront Rhea...no matter how much she tried to deny it, they knew she did something to Jeralt's daughter.
- Three weeks ago —
Knock, knock.
"Come in." Seteth said and was surprised to see Jeralt coming in, "Jeralt? What a surprise. Is your daughter doing well?" He said as the man closed the door.
"She's still asleep. Is that normal for crest bearers?" He said as Seteth remained silent for a moment before he motioned him to sit down.
"I'm assuming that isn't what you have come here to talk about," Seteth said as Jeralt said down.
The silence was tense and Seteth was debating if he should say something till Jeralt let go of a sigh and placed a book in front of him. The book in question was an old brown leather-bound journal that had seen many things based on how some of the leather was peeling away. Yet, Seteth recognized it from the few times he had come to the monastery to help Rhea out.
"This is a journal," Seteth said and Jeralt nodded.
"I want you to read it. The pages of the year 1159." Jeralt said and Seteth looked at him surprised.
"Are you sure?" Seteth said, "Positive." Jeralt said.
Seteth didn't know what to think as he looked at the journal than at Jeralt. This was the first time Jeralt was trusting him to read something personal, something he would never share with anyone else but his family, so why? The man had so many questions considering he and Jeralt didn't exactly have the best relationship, as well as Jeralt, knew of him being Flayn's father. Seteth took a deep breath and nodded, taking the journal and opening the page.
Day 23 of the Verdant Moon:
All is cloudy. I can't believe she's dead. Lady Rhea said she died during childbirth. But is that the truth? And still, the child she traded her life for doesn't make a sound. Didn't even cry at birth. Florencio was forbidden from tending her despite how much he begged. Sandana left the room to stop herself from hurting someone and Cherche gritted her teeth and cursed in silence. What happened...? Why did Lady Rhea forbid us from seeing her?
Day 25 of the Horsebow Moon.
It's raining. The baby doesn't laugh or cry. Not ever. Lady Rhea says not to worry, but a baby that doesn't cry...isn't natural. Had a doctor examine the child in secret. He said the pulse is normal, but there was no heartbeat. No heartbeat! Florencio also checked and confirmed it.
Day 27 of The Horsebow Moon
Lady Rhea has been acting strange since the birth of our child. She wants to hold her constantly and even the others are disturbed by how obsessed she has become with my child. I spoke with Aelfric and even he is worried. He has noticed that Lady Rhea had ordered a nursery built for my child. Why? Does she plan to do something for her? Now that I think about it...the child that Sitri would talk about, Beleth, I haven't seen him. I remember the two would play and the minute the boy even catches the sight of me, he runs. Something happened.
Day 2 of the Wyvern Moon.
Sunny. I feel I must take the child and leave. But the church is always watching us... I don't know what Lady Rhea has planned. I used to think the world of Lady Rhea. Now I'm terrified of her. Florencio, Cherche, Sandana, and I have met up in secret. Florencio even went as far as casting a barrier to make sure we could not be seen or heard. Sandana reported that the nursery that Lady Rhea has built is done. She managed to sneak in and saw it filled with tomes, staff, children's toys, as well as strange holy clothing. Cherche proposed we set the place on fire and fake my daughter's death. Sandana and I said that was a terrible idea till Florencio began to speak. He said that during Red Wolf and Ethereal Moon, Lady Rhea becomes sluggish. As if she loses energy. That time is also the busiest because of the Winter Festival...
If that's the case, then five months. For five months I'm willing to tolerate The Church's watchful eyes for the opportunity to escape.
Day 8 of the Guardian Moon.
More rain. I used the fire that broke out last night to fake the child's death. Lady Rhea is in a state over the news. But I can't change what I've done. I've got to take the child and leave...
To avoid suspicions, Florencio and Sandana have decided to temporarily part ways. As for Cherche, I don't know. I only hope we can meet up again once the dust has settled. Sigh...even though it's raining, the child doesn't cry but looks at the rain curiously. But...they whimper and shiver because of the cold. Sigh..they don't like the cold like Sitri and Rhea. Guess it runs in the family.
Day 10 The Great Three Moon:
I traveled around Fodlan for a while to get The Church off my tail. Lady Cira has offered to take us in for a while but I don't want her to get in trouble. Still, it had been a while since I had been to Faerghus. I ran into Rodrigue and Lambert on a hunt. I was surprised to see them as well as Romea and Durandal. Looks like they finally tied the knot. I'm glad for them. But I think today was the most surprising. Florencio found me. And with him, were the men he commanded. He told me that they had chosen to leave with him. Sigh...I'm grateful to see them again.
Day 20 of the Great Tree Moon:
We spoke and decided to form a Mercenary Guild. I had no idea what I was doing if it wasn't for Anna Ray. Glad she helped us out and she had been keeping tabs on Rhea. Looks like we finally shook her off. But also, we had a reunion with Sandana. And like her brother, those she commanded left with her. Ha...they left. Now all that was missing was Cherche but Sandana delivered a letter. The words Cherche wrote were.
"Protect Byleth."
That was it...
Seteth placed the journal down as a bead of sweat ran down his face. The tense silence in the room only grew yet he took a deep breath as he looked up to Jeralt. The mercenary was silent as Seteth intertwined his hands and placed his elbows on the table. The Advisor thought long and hard before he spoke.
"This...is a lot to take in." He said Jeralt nodded as he took the journal back.
"Seteth, the reason I am showing you this is because I want you to know why I am distrustful of Rhea. And...why I left years ago with Florencio, Sandana, and Cherche." Jeralt said as he looked at the journal in his hands, "My daughter...my family means the world to me. I am a father first then a soldier. I'm sure you understand what I mean." He said and Seteth sighed, smiling sadly as he looked at the journal and nodded.
"I do. As a fellow father, I understand." Seteth and looked at the man, "Jeralt, Rhea has long since lost my trust. Especially after..." the image of Sandana came to mind.
"I know." Jeralt sighed, "Sandana meant a lot to you, didn't she?" He said.
"Yes...Yes, she did."
— Present Time -
CRACK!
It was the first time Crescent had ever seen Seteth, mad.
So...So…So mad.
The last time Seteth was this angry was when Hera (his wife) was killed and Flayn was gravely injured. He was angry when he learned Cirina's name was stained but now...
"As I said, there is nothing of which to speak. For now. At the end of this month..." Rhea sighed as she shook her head, "Brothers, you must trust me. You will understand soon." She said and Seteth, turned to her, seething.
"I read Jeralt's diary." The man said and Rhea went pale, "In it, he stated the reason he and the departure of the others. The baby from the fire 21 years ago, Cherche, Florencio, and Sandana did everything they could to help him escape. Jeralt realized that you had done something to the child and decided to flee. What did you do to that baby, Rhea?!" He wanted to hear it, it wanted to hear it from her.
Crescent gritted his teeth before he took a deep breath and spoke.
"Seteth, you sensed it didn't you? The girl has now officially become...one of us. That is not normal." He said and Rhea gritted her teeth as she looked at him furiously.
"Both of you, enough! No more, I beg of you! I will take our dear professor to the Holy Tomb along with her chosen champions. There...I should be able to see our dearest wishes to fruition. When I was young, I heard her voice there... I'm sure of it." She said and Crescent snapped.
"WHY WON'T YOU UNDERSTAND THAT MOTHER HAS PASSED ON?! ARE YOU TRYING TO COMMIT THE BIGGEST TABOO THAT SHE WARNED US ABOUT?! RESURRECTION?!" He said and Rhea went silent.
The silence remained for a good 10 minutes before it finally...finally...dawned on the two what their sister was trying to do.
"...You're trying to use your granddaughter...to resurrect Mother?" Crescent looked at Rhea like a monster, "You...You...you didn't. Please tell me you didn't do what I think you did?" He whispered and Rhea closed her eyes as she took a deep breath.
"As I said, it is none of your business, Crescent. You of all people have no right in my business. Especially after what happened years ago." She said and when she opened her eyes, black glass spikes were pointing at her.
"Crescent!" Seteth yelled yet the older man refused to back down he had but bit his lip hard enough to draw blood.
"After what happened years ago...I accepted that our mother had passed on. You couldn't accept it and unleashed your anger on the kingdom Noa and I worked so hard on. You massacred my people and declared them as heretics. Ever since then, any decadents have been hunted down and only a few remained. You had my wife executed on false charges. My son was killed during our battle. You stained Cirina's name. And that wasn't enough...wasn't it? The Apostles...you shamed them for failing the first resurrection attempt using the chalice that Mother created. You silenced anyone that dared to speak the truth. Especially Roman Reigan, Uriel Blaiddyd, and Mila Lamine...They may have not been able to speak it but their descendants did. You even went as far as burning the books they had written the truth in it." Crescent said and all Rhea did was look at him with a void gaze.
"Are you done?"
Crescent took a deep breath and closed his eyes, making the glass he created disappeared into dust. He turned and walked towards the door, but stopped before saying...
"You're not worth it."
BAM!
[—- ]
The room shook when the door was slammed shut. People nearby in the offices had come out to see what was going on but all were unaware of the person that hid behind the wall. The person took a deep breath and walked away to a secret location outside the monastery. The person took a deep breath as they wore their hoods and left to an abandoned chapel hidden underneath the bridge. There, they waited till they heard the sound of a magic circle activating. Three individuals walked out. Edelgard, Hubert, and...Henry? The person blinked, surprised to see Henry of all people but...the mage's smile was strained.
"I'm surprised you came." Edelgard said as Hubert was on guard, "I thought you wouldn't come." She said the man shook their head.
"I have my reasons. But onto the main subject, I heard what I needed. But there is something I wish to confirm. I have memories missing from an event 21 years ago. I want those memories back." He said and Edelgard nodded.
"Alright. But, if your suspicions are correct, what will you do? I doubt you will remain by her side. So, what's your plan?" Edelgard said and the man took a deep breath and spoke.
"I'll join you."
Hubert looked at him shocked as well as Henry yet Edelgard's gaze became half-lidded.
"But they are still important to me. So, I'll join you in exchange for no harm befalls them. That's all." They said and Edelgard closed her eyes, frowning.
"You realize The Archbishop has committed countless crimes against humanity. Not to also mention she spent nearly a thought years falsing Fodlan's History. I want the church eradicated." She said and the man shot back.
"You realize Fodlan won't change its views so easily even if you eradicate the church. Don't tell me your plan for the people of Fodlan to witch hunt themselves for practicing their faith?" He said and Edelgard's gaze narrowed.
"Even I would not do such a thing. Alright, how about this?" Edelgard crossed her arms, "You join my cause but once the battle is won, you will have 10 years to reform The Church of Serios." She said the man nodded.
"More than enough time. And also to put to good use the knowledge the Professor shared about separating religion from the state so the two may balance each other. To prevent either from growing corrupt over the years as well as making sure the church will never be the center of power again. And...to help ease the transition into a United Fodlan." They said and even Edelgard was surprised by this.
"Hmm...not bad." Hubert said, "But how can we trust you? How do we know you won't suddenly turn your blade on us?" He said the man chuckled bitterly.
"You'll find out on the day the Archbishop takes the Professor to The Holy Tomb." They said and Edelgard nodded.
"But one more question." Edelgard said and the man raised an eyebrow, "Was it her? Was it Rhea that attack the survivors of Duscur five years ago?" She asked and the man remained silent.
"...Yes. It was her. The Archbishop's right hand is a mechanical limb created by Emily. The one who cut off her right hand was your brother, Dimitri." They said and Edelgard nodded.
"Huh...who knew Dimitri had it in him back then?" She thought and looked at Hubert for a moment before turning to Henry and nodding.
"Henry. You're up." They said and the mage walked up to the man and placed two fingers on his forehead.
"This might hurt a bit since you are asking for memories from 21 years ago to be returned. If worst-case scenario there is a seal, you're going to go through excruciating pain. It will feel like hours for you but it will be two minutes for us. Can you handle it?" Henry said and they nodded.
"Alrighty then. Good night!"
[—]
Claude, Lestia, and Sadi didn't know what to say after hearing the whole conversation. It confirmed that Rhea did something to the Professor when she was an infant. But hearing the word resurrection, did that mean Rhea intended to sacrifice Arisa? Also, what was that about Rhea having Crescents people killed? They just had...many, if not, a thousand questions but one thing for sure. The trio looked at each other gravely and nodded. They had to warn the others that something big was coming and that it wasn't good.
— Three Days Later -
"I don't know how to feel about this." Arisa said as she looked at her extremely long hair and was taking a shower, "Sothis, how did you d—oh…that's right..." Arisa sighed as she looked back to the mirror and placed her hand on it, "You're not here..." she muttered softly and rest her forehead on the glass.
"I'm not sure how I'm going to adjust to this..." Arisa sighed and felt something land on her head and two furry creatures rub on her legs, "Oh, you three." She smiled sadly as she knelt and Hersvelg and Blanca snuggled against her and Feh on her shoulder, nuzzling her cheek, "You're all trying to comfort me, aren't you?"
"Yes!"
And Arisa's eyes shot open as she slowly looked up to her head as Feh was looking down at her.
"Don't worry, my friend! I'm sure Sothis will be watching over us even if she is gone." Feh said and then looked back to Hersvelg and Blanca.
"Nya~ Looks like our master inherited the ability to understand us. Oh, you'll get used to it soon." The white cat said as the other two looked at her shocked.
"I...I need a drink." Arisa whispered and stood up, walking to the cabinet where she had a bottle of Firewire that Anna had gotten from Ferox.
She poured herself a glass and gulped it down but froze. By now, she should be feeling a burning sensation in her throat but no. It...it...
"It tastes like water..." she place her hands on her lips, shocked, and then suddenly began to remove the bandages from her right hand.
"Ah.." her arm trembled as she held it up, seeing the corruption that she once had was gone, her flash no longer black and looking like muscles but a normal human arm she was looking at.
Yet...
"Sothis...Sothis..." she slid down to the floor, burying her face in her hands, and let out a small sob, "Oh Sothis...I feel like crap. How am I supposed to do this now without you here? It all feels so unreal...I know you chose me...but it still hurts..." she sobbed as the animals nuzzled closer to her.
"It will take some time for you to adjust to these new changes." Blanca said as she placed her paw on her hand, "We promised Lady Sothis to support you and the others. And we will...always." She said and Arisa smiled softly as they nuzzled her.
"Thank you..."
[—-]
The first thing she did was cut her hair. She didn't need Rhea coming at her wanting to touch her hair. She cut it to the length of her shoulders and let her bangs lose and then tied the rest into a small ponytail. Xina was the first to cry tears of sorrow like Florencio at the sight of her beautiful long hair, gone. Walking around the monastery, students and staff alike commented about her new appearance, others were saying that Saint Serios's chosen one had come forth. Others that the Child of The Goddess had been sent to the land of guide them.
"In Brigid, we have legends. Stories containing people who have a spirit living inside of them. Those spirit people have much strength. They are maybe able to fly in the air or race across the ocean. Hair that shines and eyes that glow... They have qualities that are not unlike what you are looking like, Professor." Petra said as Arisa ran into him and Ashe on the way to the training room.
"But...I can turn into a dragon and fly." Arisa chuckled nervously and saw their eyes sparkle.
"The powers you have are like the powers of the legends! Oh, maybe you take us for a ride?" Petra said and Ashe looked at her shocked.
"Petra, you can't just ask the professor to give you a ride!" He said and the Princess looked at him confused.
"Why not?" She asked and Ashe coughed, "I-I've read in a book that only a dragon's life partner can ride on their backs. You know...their...lover." He said and Petra let an "Oooh."
"I have understood now." Petra grinned, "So only Dimitri can r—-Uhlpph!" Arisa had never seen Ashe react so fast in covering someone's mouth.
"U-Um! We'll see you later, professor!" Crimson like a tomato but still managed to speak, Ashe quickly ran away with the Princess who was just so confused.
"I'm going to pretend I didn't hear that." Arisa sighed as she felt her ears turn red, "You know what...I rather not have anyone see my ears right." She quickly undid her ponytail and combed her fingers through her hair to fix it and hide her ears.
Walking around, she could feel everyone's stress not only that, she could hear and see things she wouldn't have been able to before. Sothis was a goddess and could see and hear things that a normal human wouldn't be able to. Everything sounded so loud and it was like someone was constantly whispering in her ears. At times, the sound of cups clinking made her jump or ears ring.
And smell...
Her nose was much more sensitive to smell. Hersvelg and Blanca were telling her to take deep breaths and to control her breathing, Sothis most likely told them to help her when she went through the change. Arisa could smell things. Even in her previous life, Arisa would pride herself on having a "nose of a hound" because she had a much better sense of smell. But now, it was irritating. She even noticed that she was even more sensitive to the cold thanks to the three layers of winter coats she was wearing. Arisa's eyes went wide as she saw not only the students but many unknown people, all of them were transparent. Some were children. Other adults. Some elderly. Others weren't even human. The girls moved to the side as they saw a group of transparent children running. She flinched when she saw a little girl with no eyes but a happy grin as she played with a cat-like nothing was wrong. Another was a boy who was missing an arm. Others seemed to move around like normal townspeople. They did not even know they were dead. It was strange. Some were even fae that was attached to certain living humans, as a guardian. Some people had multiple spirits around them. Like family.
"This is too much..." Arisa whispered as she had herself sit at a bench, trying to process everything that was happening, "This...My head hurts..."
"Ah, I was wondering when you would wake up."
Arisa looked up and saw Hai smiling down at her, "Not used to seeing everything now, are you?" The blue hair woman's eyes squinted just a bit as she cocked her head, "We dragons are sensitive to many things and can see the unknown. But as we grow, we learn to adapt to everything around us. You're like a chick who just hatched. Worry not, Flayn and I are here to help you. Emily as well." She said and Arisa nodded as she took a deep breath.
"Also," Hai smiled as she looked over to see some of the cats and dogs, "Looks like the war is coming." She said and Arisa gulped.
"Can...we go to Abyss? I want to see Castor." She said and Hai nodded.
[—-]
With the dark hallways and the scent of water, along with the sounds being muffled, Arisa felt relief being in a place that felt...so much quieter. Yet, it didn't stop the glances that people gave her as she walked by.
"Goodness gracious, is that you Arisa?" The woman stopped and turned to see Deidra along with Ares, looking at her with shocked expressions, "It is you!" They quickly ran up to her and soon more people she knew from Remire Village joined.
"You look so different!" Ares said as Kama looked at her confused, "Is it true you got The Blessing of The Goddess?" Kama said and people were muttering and whispering to each other.
Arisa chuckled nervously and before she knew it, the people quickly moved away at the sight of Crescent who came their way.
"Alright, Everyone, back away. She just woke up a few hours ago and is trying to take it easy." He said and Arisa whispered a thank you as he took her away from the crowd with Hai following.
"You shouldn't be down here. You're still adjusting." Crescent said as he lead them down the hallways.
"I know but it feels so much quieter here." She said and noticed the energy around him seemed dark, "Did I come at a bad time? You seem to be in a bad mood." She said and the man stopped, looking at her surprised.
"...So you inherited that." He muttered and let go of a sigh as they stopped in front of a door, "Castor is in here along with Pollux. It took a while but he will recover as long as he keeps drinking the purification medicine Noa has prescribed to him. But...it's..." he took a deep breath.
"It's his face...he has the face of someone I knew." Crescent said, "See for yourself."
[—-]
Castor didn't know how long he had been asleep but one thing was for sure, he didn't know who the girl in front of him was till she spoke.
"Castor!" He knew that voice, "Oh thank goodness!" Warm arms embraced him and he felt wear tears on his shirt as the girl cried, "I'm so happy you're okay!" Pollux cried as she held him tightly.
"Pollux, I'm glad to see you..." the boy muttered, "This is...the first time I have ever seen your face. You look nice." He Sis and the girl giggled as she quickly picked up the small mirror on the table and held it up.
"Take a look at yourself!" The girl said and Castor's eyes went wide.
Dirty blonde hair, purple eyes, and pale blue skin like his sisters but what was interesting was his appearance. No scars on the body as if he wasn't tortured. Castor didn't know what to say about his appearance but it was the first time he was ever amazed. Then again, he better not become attached to his looks. He does not need Sylvain to try and get him hooked up with a woman. He had so many questions about how he was alive but that would have to wait.
Knock. Knock.
"Come in!" Pollux yelled out and the door opened, revealing a mint—-
"Please don't kill us, Lady Rhea!" Pollux screamed and quickly jumped in front of her brother when they heard a "Whoa! Whoa! Whoa! I'm not Rhea!" The two blinked, removing their arms and they looked up, seeing worried brown mint-colored eyes.
"It's me. Arisa." Arisa said and the twins blinked.
Arisa had short brown colored hair that faded to mint green, her eyes were the same color. She wore her usual uniform and coat but the twins noticed she was hiding her ears. Arisa let go of a sigh as she sat down on a chair across from them. She didn't get too close because she could tell they were intimidated by her.
"I'm glad you are okay, Castor. How are you feeling?" Arisa said and the boy's lips became a thin line.
"Conflicted...I don't know what to say." He said as he looked in the mirror, "All our lives we're told not to show our faces...to get revenge for a past we didn't know much about. To be honest, I don't know how to feel. This is the first time seeing my face. But..." he looked up to her, "I um...I want to apologize to Lestia." He said.
Arisa smiled softly and nodded, standing up and holding out her hand to him.
"Well then, welcome to the team, Castor."
[—-]
The first thing they did was quickly use magic to change his skin to look peachy just like Pollux. His wounds were healed and Castor was now wearing the uniform of an archer. It felt strange for him to be walking around. His spiky blonde hair was tied into a ponytail as he walked beside his sister. But the boy had quickly run to the greenhouses without being seen and snatched a few sunflowers to give to Lestia. Arisa walked with them to make sure no one tried anything as they made their way to the training field where the twins were. Again, many stared at her but most of all, Pollux and Castor hid behind her like children as they approached the twins, Dedue and Sadi. But there seemed to be some sort of conflict.
"Professor. Please. If they hear it from you that they need to rest, perhaps Their Highness will listen." Dedue said, making the prince and princess flinch and turn to her.
Arisa reeled back, seeing the dark circles under his eyes as well as noticing Lestia was in the same state as well.
"You're awake!" Lestia quickly perked up and grinned, "Wow! You look amazing in that ne—-Nooo! You cut it off!" The girl dramatically fell to her knees as she cried, "I was looking forward to styling it with Hilda and Dorothea!" She whined and Arisa chuckled.
"It's alright. Also, it is a hassle so I cut it off." Arisa said and looked at her Dimitri, "But Dedue and Sadi are right. Both of you need to sleep and get rest." She crossed her arms and glared at them, "And based on those dark circles, you two haven't slept at all."
"Uuuggghhh...not you too!" Lestia groaned as she stood up and crossed her arms, puffing out her cheeks angrily as she a "Hmph!" Looking away from her.
"They are exaggerating. Dedue and Sadi think our color is off and that rest will cure-all. I have a headache, and Lestia has been sneaking out (Lestia: DID YOU JUST OUT ME?!) but that's just from lack of sleep. It's not going to stop us from completing this month's mission." He said but...
SMACK!
Arisa smacked her hands on his cheeks, grabbing his face and looking right in the eyes, with a terrifying grin that brought back the twins terrifying memories of when she got angry when they would do something stupid when they were younger.
"Now listen to me, young man." Arisa grinned, "When I say sleep, you sleep. When I say rest, you rest. This is the one time I will abuse my authority as your professor. By my order, you and Lestia go to your rooms and sleep!" She said.
"Professor I d—-"
"I wasn't asking."
"Sadi, Dedue. Make sure to get Felix, Sylvain, and Ingrid to help you guard their doors. And if they try to sneak out the windows, Feh will hoot." She said and the twins knew they wouldn't win if they tried to argue against her.
"Umm..." Castor looked at them worried as Dedue and Sadi accompanied the twins who looked like zombies, "Will they be alright?"
"They will." Arisa snorted, "Also, I recommend going now to Lestia." She said the twin did just that.
Arisa watched as Castor apologized to Lestia repeatedly and handed her the sunflowers he picked as an apology. The Princess told him that everything was alright and that she had nothing against him because of the circumstances both were in. Watching them make up made Arisa smile a bit till she suddenly felt a shiver down her spine as she looked back. She looked all around but there was no one. She took a deep breath and looked back at the twins, she only hopes things will be alright.

It didn't take long for her, Chris, Alexandra, and Amir to be summoned to the audience chamber by Rhea. The aura around the holy woman only seemed to feel happier and chipper. The four knew why because Rhea believed that Sothis had returned. Chris thought that "Too bad. Those hopes were going to be shot down." When the mission of the end of the month takes place. But there was something else. There seemed to be tension between the two church leaders.
"Did they fight?" Alexandra communicated telepathically to the three.
"Probably. Crescent was in a bad mood earlier." Amir said and Rhea spoke.
"I have been awaiting your arrival, Professor. Chris, Amir, and Alexandra as well. All three of you have received a blessing from the goddess and we're chosen to be her champions. As for you, Professor, you received sacred power from the goddess, there is somewhere you must pay a visit to at once. You must go to the Holy Tomb so that you may receive a divine revelation from the goddess." She said and Arisa's hand behind her balled into a fist.
"The Holy Tomb?" Chris said and Seteth spoke.
Chris's spies were never able to locate the Holy Tomb, which was a downfall but now...
"The Holy Tomb is where the goddess sleeps. This monastery was originally built to protect that hallowed temple." Seteth said and glanced at Rhea with a wary look.
"Only a select few know of it, but there is a legend about Seiros and the Holy Tomb. Saint Seiros, the first soul to be gifted power from the goddess, received her revelation there. She was told it was her sacred duty to save the people of Fódlan, and that she must use her power wisely to lead them. The words that were handed down to Seiros from the goddess will likely fall upon your ears as well." The woman said and smiled, making shivers go down their spines.
"There will be a ceremony at the Holy Tomb. It is then that you will receive the goddess's revelation. You may all share this mission with your students." Rhea said and Alexandra spoke up.
"Lady Rhea, I do not think it is wise to bring the students. We feel it would be more comfortable if Sir Jeralt came with us along with Shamir, Celica, Beleth, and Alm." She said and Rhea's smile only grew.
"Those five have already been appointed to guard the monastery during the ceremony. There is no need to worry." She said and Amir spoke up.
"Then, we wish to have Crescent come."
"No."
The four were taken back suddenly by how firmly she spoke. Rhea cleared her throat, closed her eyes, and smiled. Her hands intertwined but something seemed off.
"It is said that when Seiros received the revelation, she had holy warriors by her side, protecting her. Your students, who have followed you and fought alongside you through the darkest of times, are well suited to stand by you for the ceremony. Of course, as the leader of the Church of Seiros, I will be by your side as well." She said and coughed again, "My apologies but Crescent said that he would be busy that day and would make sure everyone is safe." She said.
"Liar."
Rhea's hands tightened as she felt the voice in her head sneer.
"I would prefer if my father came as well as Crescent. As you said, Lady Rhea, this is an important moment, and I would really appreciate it if they were present." Arisa insisted but Rhea's smile only became...strained.
"The Holy Tomb is a sacred temple that is sealed off from the rest of the world. There is nothing to fear. Even if something were to happen, I am more than capable of protecting myself and you. Granddaughter, everything will be alright." Rhea said as she walked up and gently held her hands, "There is nothing to fear."
"Then..." Arisa bit her lip, "The may Seteth be present along with Flayn?" She asked, hoping that at least she would allow them.
But before Seteth could speak up, Arisa felt Rhea's grip around her hands, tightened. The woman looked up to see the hollow smile that Rhea always wore, she no longer felt welcome.
"Granddaughter..." The scent of something ancient, lilies, and rotten eggs suddenly filled her nostrils, "Seteth and Flayn will not be able to enter the Holy Tomb. I will be there so once again, no need to worry...Alright?" Arisa wanted to get away from her.
"Flayn will go."
Arisa did not miss the way the woman's eyebrow twitched when Seteth spoke. The Advisor took a deep breath and spoke firmly, surprising the four as he stepped forward and nodded.
"Flayn will be with them since she is part of The Blue Lions. No questions asked." He said and Rhea took a deep breath, letting go of Arisa's hands.
"Very well then." The woman smiled, "That is all for now. This month, train, rest, and most importantly, try to adjust to the new changes Professor. It may take a while but you will overcome it." Rhea said and Arisa nodded.
"That is all. You may all leave."

"I don't know why, I don't know why, but I just have a very bad feeling about the upcoming rite." Arisa said as she paced back and forth in the training room with Jeralt and the other four, as well as Rensen, Manuela, Hai, Hanneman, and Xina, "Dad! She was on the verge of not even allowing Flayn, of all people to come!" She said.
She could only imagine Sothis raging and even cursing if the Goddess was present. It was so difficult not to hear another voice of reason. Arisa was so used to Sothis that is suddenly felt empty without her. As if a part of her was taken away.
"Believe me, kid. I want to be there with you to make sure nothing funny happens but I can't do anything against Rhea." Jeralt sighed as Hanneman patted him on the shoulder.
"Jeralt. Manuela, and I will make sure that everyone is safe. Should worse come to shove, we won't hesitate to raise our hands." Hanneman reassure him as Manuela nodded.
"Ever since the Professor changed, I've seen an increase of...how do I say this, obsession with you. I will not lie, the way she has been fixated on you through the year is not normal." Manuela explained and Rensen spoke.
"Not to also mention her deep dislike towards Alexandra. It seems that dislike grew now that it is known that she, Amir, and Chris were blessed by the goddess." Rensen explained, "We'll keep an eye out for anything. But another thing, have you spoken with Beleth?"
"...no, I haven't." Arisa said and the man looked at her firmly, "Speak to him. Perhaps with him by your side, Rhea will back down."
Gods, Arisa prayed it would work.
[—-]
"What?"
"It's as I said." Alm shook his head as he removed his helmet to get some fresh air, "Beleth left with Princess Edelgard two days ago to The Adrestian Empire. The Princess had a family emergency so she, Hubert, Henry, and Beleth left. Henry and Hubert I understand but Beleth? Anyhow, w—Arisa are you alright? You look pale." Alm said and indeed, Arisa was pale as a paper sheet.
"I...Um...thank you, Alm. I...I just really needed to speak with Beleth. Is there any way to get in contact with them?" She said and Alm thought for a moment before he clapped his hands together.
"If you take Red Hare now, you should be able to reach Adrestia just around the same time as them. By carriage, it takes five days. With Red Hare, you'll reach it in three days." He said and Arisa thanked him before leaving.
She quickly ran to her room and packed her basic things before she ran to the stables but unfortunately ran into someone, hard.
"Wow! Caught you!" Claude said as he helped her get back up, "Why in such a hurry, Teach? Also, you're still recovering." He said and Arisa sighed as she grabbed her saddle and walked over to Red Hare.
"I need to speak to Beleth. It's urgent." She said and Claude looked at her worried.
"Teach, I don't think it's a good idea for you to head out now. Especially because," he leaned and whispered, "Someone is watching us."
Arisa went silent and suddenly snapped her head towards the direction she felt someone's presence. It seemed the spy flinched and suddenly shook with fear when she smiled at them.
"I'll cut your tongue."
They quickly left. Aris just smiled as she turned back to Claude, who was frozen at what she had just done. But she patted him on the shoulder and walked past him but stopped.
"Claude, I'm trusting you keep an eye on Rhea. Head to Abyss and Castor will hand you something that will help you. I'll see you soon." She said and Claude took a deep breath nodding firmly as they went their separate ways.
"My, you're a sly one." Arisa blinked at the deep female voice and turned to look at Falco's stall where Claude's Wyvern, Zahra, lay next to Falco, his wing covering her.
The female wyvern had opened one eye and snorted.
"My master is a sly one just like you. But he gets the job." The wyvern said and Arisa smiled softly.
"I know." Arisa said and the animals quickly shot up their heads, some of them, quickly looked out of their stalls, "Yes...I can hear you all know. Sothis...I inherited it from Sothis." She said, placing her hand over her heart.
"OH GREAT! Now we have to worry about another human!"
"Caaaawwww! She's a dragon, you fool! Technically one of the Kings of the Animal world!"
"What do mean worry about another human?! The woman of blue hair is an angel who takes care of us all!"
"Nah! What about the Kitsune and Wolfskin?! They come here to chat with us once in a while!"
"Silence, all of you!"
Falco's, Red Hare, Puka's, and Skylar's voices boomed through the stables, making all the animals quiet. The giant black Wyvern stood up and walked over to her, sticking his head out of his pen and sniffing her. Their gaze Arisa feel a little small but the wyvern snorted and turned back.
"The Knight left with the white-haired girl. His scent...it's not normal." Falco said and laid back down next to his mate, "You are welcome to use our networks. Just make sure to tell the King of The Wolves that you now understand us before things head south." The wyvern said.
"Hmmm...Got it." Arisa hummed and put her saddle on Hare, "And Red, I apologize to you if I have been tugging the reins too hard."
"I've felt harder." The Pegasus said and the woman snorted, mounting on, "Alright, let's go." And got they flew.
From the windows of the cathedral, Claude and Lestia watched with worried expressions as the Professor left. They knew something big was going to happen soon and it wasn't good. But for now, the two managed to get a secret meeting with Petra, Yuri, and Dimitri in Abyss. As well as speaking to Castor who would give them the answers they needed.
[—]
Alm was right.
It took three days for her to reach Enbarr with Red Hare's speed. And during the trip, Arisa got to know her friend better. The Pegasus told her that she had won his respect and loyalty when she saved him all those years ago. But the two growing up together, the bond they shared was unbreakable. Red Hare told her about the arguments he would get with Sothis as well as learning things from his point of view. It was an interesting trip and Arisa also learned that animals had their networks of spies. But they only let certain humans know of them. Silque and Velouria were automatic because they were non-Humans. Marianne was their chosen one because of how kind the girl was to them. She was surprised to hear that Dwyer was part of it as well as Flayn and Hai. Those two dragons never once mentioned it but Red Hare reassured her that the reason for this was because they didn't want her to have a heart attack.
"Too late." Arisa snorted as they flew over the city and spotted Edelgard's carriage arriving, "But, I need to confirm if this going where I think it's going." She muttered and they dove down.
When Edelgard got out of the carriage with Beleth, Hubert, and Henry, she expected to be greeted by the blue sky.
Not a pegasus charging their way. The three had quickly gotten in front of her to protect her but the familiar flap of heavy wings and brown that fade to teal-colored eyes made her gasp.
"Hello everyone!" Arisa grinned down at them as they couldn't believe their eyes, "Apologies for suddenly dropping in like this!" She said and jumped down, whistling for Red Hare to go to the stables near the ally way.
"P-Professor?! What are you doing here?!" Edelgard stuttered as the woman turned to the with a small smile, "I confess, I had to threaten some of Rhea's spies to be able to get here."
"You snuck out." Beleth said as the woman sighed, "Uuuuuggghhhh..." Edelgard had never heard the Knight groan so much, "Elder Sister Sitri did the same thing." He sighed and looked over to the Princess, "You don't mind if there are two witnesses, right?"
"No...I don't mind. I'm glad you are here, my teacher. We haven't had the to opportunity speak properly after everything that has happened." She said and Arisa nodded understanding what was about to happen.
"It's alright. Assuming there is a family emergency, I can understand why you are here." Arisa said and looked at Beleth, "Beleth, I know this is a bad time but once everything is settled, I want to discuss it with you. It's urgent." She said and the Knight nodded.
"I have an idea why you want to talk."

She had never once been to the Imperial palace all her life but what she had heard from Chris, the place was big. And he meant it. The Imperial Palace was different from The Kingdom's. The architecture leaned more towards Spanish Castles than her old home. The hallways were built almost like mazes to confuse any enemies that broke in as well as the walls were made of hard stone bricks. Carpets the color of crimson with the imperial colors of red, gold, and purple were all over the floors. Paintings of members of the royal families from the past and present hung on the walls but most were covered by red velvet curtains with trims of gold. The maids and servants bowed to them and the guards saluted them as they stopped in front of the doors that led to the throne room. Edelgard let out a shuttered breath before the doors opened and in they walked. The inside of the throne room was decorated with a variety of armors displayed far from the walls. Different seats that the symbols of each major house were empty as well as knights stationed to keep guard. The grand stained glass windows had images of the Saints as well as the image of the first Imperial Emperor, Wilhelm I.
He was kneeling as Saint Serios held a crown in her hands and was depicted placing it on him. The sunlight passing through the glass gave the room an ethereal look but there was no joy. Arisa suspected for a while but she felt it. The scrutinizing gazes of the maids, butlers, and knights alike. Their gazes not just on her, Henry, Beleth, and Hubert, but at Edelgard especially. Her hearing allowed her to hear things she shouldn't be able to. Her sight let her see the dark aura that surrounded people. It was too much and she wanted to puke but she held it in, for everyone's sake. She took a deep breath and felt a hand on her shoulder, seeing it was Beleth looking at her with a worried gaze.
"Are you alright? Do you need to sit down?" He asked and shook her head, reassuring him that she was alright.
"Edelgard, my daughter, you have arrived."
From the throne, sat a man with a ghastly pale complexion as well, short white hair combed neatly. He wore a crimson toga with golden bands and some jewelry. The man smiled softly at his daughter and nodded as she had him remain in his seat. But Arisa felt something, no, someone else was here but she didn't know who. Whoever it was, it seemed they posed no danger, they were just watching.
"Father, forgive me for asking this of you. I know how much pain you're in-how the burden of the throne weighs heavily on you-and so-" The Emperor, Ionius IX, raised his hand to stop his daughter from speaking and smiled softly.
"There is no need to apologize, Edelgard. You must know... (coughs) that I do not have much time left in this world. The time has come. (coughs)." Ionius said and coughed into a handkerchief, small spots of blood on it.
"Hubert, should I check the Emperor after this?" She whispered to the mage, who closed his eyes and shook his head, "No...unfortunately, it's too late." Hubert whispered as The Royal family continued to speak.
"Thank you, Father. Now, to complete the Imperial succession, you must relinquish your crown here in the throne room. The archbishop of the Church of Seiros would normally act as a witness, but my professor and Knight will fill that role instead." She said and that confirmed it.
Arisa painfully closed her eyes, a bitter smile on her lips as they two continued to speak.
"Edelgard..."
"From this day forward, the weight of the Empire's future shall rest upon my shoulders. All that I do will be for the benefit of the people of Fódlan." Ionius said and stood up, his daughter kneeling before him as he picked up the golden crown from the crimson pillow next to the throne and held it over her head.
"Edelgard von Hresvelg, the crown is yours. By the covenant between the red blood and the white sword, and by the double-headed eagle upon your head, I hereby pronounce you the new emperor. Are you prepared to take those responsibilities as your own?" Ionius said Edelgard looked up, her eyes, firm.
"In accordance with the ancient covenant, and keeping with the Hresvelg legacy... I swear that upon this throne, I shall use my reign to lead Fódlan to a new dawn and achieve peace for all." She said and the emperor nodded, placing the crown on her head.
"So in the end...you still chose them." Arisa thought as she felt tears weld up in her eyes.
"Are you crying, my teacher?" Edelgard chuckled softly as she was helped up by Hubert, "Tears of joy, I see." All Arisa did was nod.
"The Imperial succession is complete. (coughs) My daughter, I regret that I could not do more for you. When you were stolen away to the Kingdom, when the prime minister did those horrible things, I could only watch in horror." The man spoke softly, "Your brother, Chris, did everything he could to protect you, your siblings, and your mother. Sigh...if he was here, I'm sure he would be proud of you." He said and Edelgard felt her throat tighten.
"I- I understand, Father. In those dark times, your eyes and your fists were my salvation. Within your eyes, I saw true care. And upon your fists clenched tight with indignity, I saw the blood that dripped and fell. Even as I bled, I felt that you, too, must also be bleeding." Edelgard whispered and Arisa spoke up.
"Your highness." Both turned to her, with a confused gaze.
Arisa took a deep breath, and bowed to the two, looking to the ground, holding in her tears.
"Emperor Ionius, I promise you and your daughter I will do everything in my power to make those that made you and your families suffer...pay. I will make sure justice is brought down on them. That's a promise." She said and everyone in the room was stunned, including the one that was hidden.
The former emperor was silent for a moment before he chuckled softly and nodded.
"Your lady, thank you. I trust that Edelgard is in good hands. Do watch over her and guide her. She can be a little reckless at times. Brings back memories of when a few of her siblings had to stop her from running into a mud puddle to just prove it wasn't deep." He said and Edelgard screeched, "Father!"
Even in serious moments like this, The Emperor found a way to lighten things up.
"Your Majesty! You must not leave your sleeping chambers in your condition." She hated that annoying voice.
"Ah, Edelgard. I did not expect to find Your Highness here." Duke Aegir ran into the throne room, and Arisa almost snorted seeing the number of gray hairs the man had, not also mention fatter, the displeasure in his voice seeing Edelgard was obvious.
"Prime Minister, you have misspoken. I am no longer "Your Highness" but rather..."Your Majesty"." Edelgard said coldly to him as she fully turned his way, how much she enjoyed seeing the man open and close his mouth like a fish, processing everything she just said till he finally yelled out, "I-Impossible!"
" Ionius you can n-!" The knights suddenly pointed their lances at the man at Edelgard's command, "You will address my father as, Your Highness." Edelgard said.
"Edelgard is right, Aegir." William sighed, "It is true. Edelgard is the new emperor of the Adrestian Empire. We will summon the officials, (coughs) and prepare an ordinance at once. And you, Prime Minister-" his daughter looked over to her knights who quickly surrounded Duke Aegir and handcuffed him.
"W-What are you doing?!" Aegir yelled, "This is mutiny!"
"You are dismissed. It will be some time before you are allowed to make contact with the outside world again." Edelgard said, "Take him away."
"Yes, your Majesty!"
"No! This is wrong! Court! Summon the court! L-"
"Wait."
They stopped and Arisa looked at the man, who was looking at her with pleading eyes. Arisa hated him for what he did to Lysithea, Edelgard, Chris, and many others. The cruel part of her wants to have her way with him but the petty part...
"Put him in the deepest part of the underground dungeons where there is no light as well as just enough water for him to survive." Beleth reeled back hearing her say that.
Hubert let out a small chuckle as well as Henry, they approved.
"Hm. Do as she says. The Narrows should be perfect for someone like him." Edelgard smiled, seeing terror fill the man.
The Narrows were the dungeons where she was held in. The deepest and darkest of them all as well as it was infested with rats, mold, and insects.
"YOU BIT-"
PUNCH!
A hard punch to the stomach was enough to make him gasp and spit. Arisa leaned down and whispered in his ears.
"Ferdinand knows of your crimes." She enjoyed the whimper that left his lips, "You and the Agarthans will pay." That was it before his eyes rolled back and he passed out.
[—-]
"Who knew you could be so brutal." Beleth chuckled as Edelgard permitted them to walk around, "I must admit, I was impressed. It's usual for you to publicly display violence." He said as they made a turn to head to the Imperial garden.
"I've had a bone to pick with him since day one. Hate the guy." Arisa huffed as they arrived.
"Now that we are alone, what did you want to talk about?"
"Rhea."
