Author's Note: Finn can write stories, and she can write poetry now? Oh well, read it and see what you think, please. It's a whole thing from Zack's point of view, watching Cody after he's gone through some harsh times. It could link with Lean on Me, I guess. Ah, it was a poem for English, and I just felt like posting it. So relate it somehow.
Outside the sky is an empty gray,
The trees are lonely and bare.
The leaves scatter along the ground,
You and I shall go there.
I watch your hands slide deep in your coat,
The aimless way your legs shuffle along.
Summer is now long gone,
Yet fall has just begun its song.
It sings the words of many years—
This autumn rhythm as it plays.
It makes time stop, your breath in the air,
To wish for the time of warmer days.
You and I have reached the tree,
You bend and grasp a leaf.
It shatters as you squeeze it tight,
To your fascination and disbelief.
Those screams of past surfacing, drowning you once again.
It seems as though they will never let you go—never.
I watch, helpless, as you crumple to your knees,
I know that memories do not stay dead forever.
I come and take your
hand in mine,
I wonder if you remember—
The games and fun we used to have—
All those past Septembers.
Your now lifeless eyes turn to look in mine.
We remember all those seasons.
This time, I promise, you will not be alone,
I will help you pick up all the pieces.
Was it good? Review, please.
