A/N: So here we go back to the regular episodes for the moment, this one is a shorter one, cause there wasn't much going on in this episode, don't worry though things will begin picking up again. :)
Chapter 19
Deker looked at the broken half of Urumasa, "Where is Serrator?" he demands. "He's taking too long."
"He can't be trusted, he did say he could get back the other half of Urumasa for you though," reminds Dayu.
"And yet he hasn't, the rangers still have it. If he has a plan, he'd better start moving things along. I grow tired of waiting," answers Deker, he needed his sword to be whole again.
Evie walks into the kitchen with a yawn just after Antonio and her nose wrinkles as she sees the fish, gagging a little at the smell.
"Good catch Antonio," nods Ji.
"The fish are really biting, there's more than I can catch," replies Antonio with a shrug.
"Well can you put them somewhere other than the kitchen better yet just get them out my scent radius, because that's not breakfast, lunch or dinner right now," requests Evie feeling her stomach start to churn.
Mike walks in then still in his pyjamas and he too wrinkles his nose at the fish.
Mia gasps then, "How about I cook breakfast for everyone?" she beams.
Everyone looks at her in horror.
"I'm late for training," says Jayden quickly as he bolts.
"Me too," nods Kevin following after him.
"Forgot I'm on a diet," adds Emily.
"Fish to move," replies Antonio.
"Stomachs not feeling great, don't really fancy anything," says Evie.
"I just gotta go," adds Mike as they all run for it.
Mia turns to Ji who looks nervous.
"Mentor?" she offers.
"I already ate," answers Ji quickly.
Evie sits down on the patio while Kevin, Jayden and Emily start warming up.
"I can hear the pouting from here," chuckles Jayden without even looking at Evie.
"I feel fine," huffs Evie.
"Don't even try it," replies Jayden.
"Yeah Evie, with how you went yesterday, best not to push it," nods Kevin.
"And if a Nighlok attacks?" asks Evie.
"We'll see," replies Jayden.
"Stupid Nighlok," mutters Evie crossing her arms.
Mia and Mike soon join them and the five begin training, Evie offering pointers and observations as they went.
Ji appearing next to her a little while later and wordlessly handing her a sandwich and a couple of energy bars.
"Thank you," says Evie.
"Eat a little more over the next couple of days," advises Ji.
"I will."
"How are you feeling now?"
"All good, don't worry I'm taking it easy, as requested."
"Surprisingly compliant of you."
"I'm not a complete idiot, I know when to push and when not too."
Ji nods and the two continue to observe the others until the sound of the gap sensor resounds through the house.
"Shit," swears Evie as she moves inside with the others.
Ji pulls the map up, "Nighlok attack at the Norway Factory, hurry."
"We're on it, you feeling up to it?" asks Jayden looking at Evie.
"Absolutely" answers Evie as the six of them turn and race out of the house, morphing as they do so.
They arrive at the factory in time to see a Nighlok terrorising the workers.
"Nighlok!" shouts Jayden grabbing his attention.
"What?" ask the Nighlok in surprise.
"Leave them alone" orders Mike.
They start getting the civilians out of the way, when Mia spots one who wasn't moving, "hey you there, didn't you hear me?" she asks but gets no response.
With a sigh she turns and re-joins the others, Antonio having arrived as well.
"Your fun and games are over Nighlok," warns Jayden.
"Oh really? So, you're the big bad samurai rangers," retorts the Nighlok.
"And you're another Nighlok looking for trouble," answers Kevin.
"I'm not just another Nighlok. I'm Duplicator. I work for Serrator and I am the best in the biz," answers Duplicator.
"Serrator? What's he up to?" asks Antonio.
"Nothing good," answers Evie.
"Let me handle Mr Cool," says Mike as he charges forwards, "time to cool your jets," he warns.
"You're just jealous because I'm cooler than you" retorts Duplicator as the two clash swords. "I mean you're only a ranger."
"Define cool," answers Mike as he knocks Duplicator's sword aside slicing across his chest with a strike.
"Ow, okay this is cool" says Duplicator as he disappears.
"Where'd he go?" asks Mike in confusion, the others joining him as they look around.
"Over here, now you see us, now you don't," cackles Duplicator as multiple mirror versions appear and then disappear.
"What's going on? This guys all over the place?" asks Mike as they all turn and see Duplicator appearing around them.
"No for long, I might just split," retorts Duplicator.
"Long enough for this," says Kevin as he sends blasts from his hydro bow at him.
Duplicator doubles over for a moment before springing back up, "Gotcha," he cackles smugly before disappearing again.
The rangers look around in surprise.
"You'll never catch me," smirks Duplicator as he appears on the other side of them.
"You see I've got some news for you. There's more to me than meets the eye," he warns, and suddenly he splits, multiple images appearing. "A lot more."
"He cloned himself?" asks Emily.
"They're mirror images," realises Kevin.
"Let the real fun begin," smirks Duplicator and the mirror images attack.
"Stay sharp," advises Jayden as the rangers charge forwards to meet them.
But as they hit them the mirror images dissolve, but keep reappearing.
"Hey which one is the real one?" asks Mia looking around.
Evie takes another one out, but it just dissolves.
"God sake," she huffs as she turns and attacks the next one.
Mia looks around and notes the guy from earlier still sat there, "seriously all this and that guy is still sitting there."
They continue attacking but keeping finding mirror images.
"Which one could he be?" asks Mike.
"Let's just say adios to all of them," answers Antonio as he takes more of them out.
They close in together.
"Up here," calls Duplicator and they all look up in time to see him.
"Ready or not?" he laughs before sending a series of blasts at them that knock them to the ground.
"Rangers, rangers, on the ground," he cackles as he leaps down, "you look lost, but guess what I found. I'm the coolest guy around."
"Not you," retorts Antonio.
"Oh yeah, you're finished," warns Duplicator but then he groans and drops to his knees. "You got lucky this time rangers, I'm dried out," groans Duplicator as he disappears through a gap.
"What, he's gone?" demands Mike as he pulls himself up, the others following suit.
Mia turns and sees the guy still sat there, "you guys head back without me, I want to check on that guy" she says.
"Okay" nods Emily.
Evie studies the guy for a moment, "that's Spike, his dad and uncle are the ones who went to school with Tommy. Who turned up when we were dealing with that shell Nighlok," realises Evie, "if it helps that is."
"I've seen him around too, thank Evie," nods Mia while the others head back.
Evie was lying down in the dojo with the others, save Jayden who'd wandered off on his own.
"We took a beating," sighs Kevin hanging off the punchbag.
"His mirror mojo was too much," nods Mike.
Antonio was trying to crack his neck but failing.
"Let me," says Evie sitting up.
"Promise not to kill me?" asks Antonio.
"Promise," replies Evie as she manipulates his neck before twisting slightly and with a soft crack Antonio sighs in relief, "thank you" he nods.
"I'm good with my hands," replies Evie as Mia walks in.
"Hey, how's Spike?" asks Emily.
"He said he wanted to be a samurai," explains Mia.
"What?" asks Kevin.
"I know, I was surprised too. I just told him that a true samurai never gives up," smiles Mia, "though I see what you mean about the stare, it's a little creepy," she adds looking at Evie before walking past them.
"You know, after a battle like that, that's a good thing to remember," admits Mike sitting up.
"There's got to be a way to beat this guys," agrees Antonio springing to his feet and helping Mike up.
Evie flips herself onto her feet and pulls Emily up as well. "Damn straight."
They all sit down on the stools around the table.
"There must be a way to pick this Nighlok out from his fakes," says Kevin as he paces.
"Yeah something about the real one we didn't notice," nods Mike.
"They're projections rather than clones," notes Evie.
"You're right, they're mirror images," realises Emily standing up.
"Yeah," nods Mia.
"Maybe the fakes don't cast reflections, like vampires," explains Emily.
"We need to widen your understanding of vampires Em, vastly," says Evie.
Just then Jayden walks into the room holding the lightzord.
"Guys, I think I have the answer" explains Jayden as he sets it down, "the lightzord," he smiles.
"Care to elaborate on that one babe?" asks Evie.
"It's almost night outside, and a high-powered beam could shine through the Nighloks tricks," explains Jayden.
"Cool, now I can't wait for him to show his face again," says Kevin.
"And when he does, he's going down," smiles Jayden.
Antonio held the punchbag while Kevin was kicking it, Jayden stood with his training sword observing.
Mia was sat gazing into the distance, Evie dozing with her head in her lap, Mia idly running her hand through Evie's hair.
Mike was gazing out of the window.
"Hey Em, does your boyfriend realise that he's literally the cover of one of my romance novels right now?" asks Mia as Emily walks in with some tea.
Evie lets out a snort at that but doesn't open her eyes, "which sort of romance novel the cheesy ones, or the steamy ones?" asks Evie.
Mia shoves her and Evie just giggles, "guess that answers that," she says.
Emily ignores them, though she had to admit Mike did look even more attractive to her right now.
Suddenly the gap sensor goes off and everyone turns sharply.
They grab the lightzord and race out of the house, before Ji can even get into the room.
As they arrive back at the factory, they see Duplicator and surround him on all sides, Antonio powering up the light zord.
"Lousy rangers. I'm getting bored of fooling you," huffs Duplicator. "It's just too easy."
"You're the one being fooled Nighlok," retorts Mike.
"Never underestimate a samurai," agrees Mia.
"Let's show him," says Jayden.
"Show? You want a show. I'll give you a show!" warns Duplicator as she starts to create his images.
"Guys change of plan LZ isn't charged," warns Antonio.
"Guess that plan wasn't so bright," realises Mike.
"Not charged, what the fuck has it been doing?" demands Evie.
"We'll just have to keep him busy until the zord is charged," says Jayden as he turns and starts attacking the various images of Duplicator.
Each of them activates their spin zords taking out the images around them.
"Come on LZ, we need you," says Antonio as he takes out the images.
The seven of them regroup, "tell us as soon as the lightzord is ready," says Jayden.
"Will do," nods Antonio.
"Haha, missed me!" shouts Duplicator. "Up here rangers," he cackles as he and his images send blasts at them, knocking them backwards.
"Losers, I told you, you'd never catch me," says Duplicator as he lands away from them. "And now you pathetic rangers are easy pickings," he adds as he creates more images of himself.
Evie groans as she tries to pull herself up, the others doing the same but also failing.
"My mirror men and I am invincible," gloats Duplicator walking towards them.
"Come on LZ, I believe in you. Shine through the clones so we can see the real one," urges Antonio.
"Okay, I think we're ready," smiles Antonio as he stands up. "Let there be light," calls Antonio as he activates the lightzord.
It lets out a giant burst of light and the images disappear beneath the force of its glow.
"No, what's happening," whines Duplicator, "not cool."
"That was excellent," nods Kevin.
"Okay, better than I expected," smiles Evie.
"Now that you're alone, let's see what you've got," smirks Antonio as he charges forwards and attacks Duplicator, snapping his sword in half mere moments later.
"Oh, that's totally uncool," cries Duplicator.
"Blazing strike!" yells Antonio as he uses the lightzord to increase it.
Duplicator is thrown across the floor, "not so cool now are you?" says Antonio.
"Nice job Antonio," smiles Mia.
"How about you do the honours, since you're the one who inspired us today" says Jayden handing her the black box.
Mia nods and powers it up, with a single strike Duplicator goes up in flames.
"Time for part two," says Evie as Duplicator grows to his megamonster size.
"Think pink," smiles Mia as she activates the super samurai combination, and Antonio powers up the lightzords mega mode power too.
Initially it seems to go well, until Duplicator creates more images of himself.
"Antonio, shine the beam," orders Jayden.
"Don't worry I've got the perfect move for this. Scatter shot," activates Antonio and the lightzord sends multiple disks at the images taking them all out at once until only Duplicator himself remains.
"Finish him off Mia," says Evie.
Mia nods and activates the cannon and shogun mode, and within seconds Duplicator is gone for good.
"Samurai rangers, victory is ours," smiles Jayden.
"Can we go home now, I miss my bed," says Mike.
"Yeah, me too," nods Evie a yawn escaping her beneath her helmet, "and some painkillers," she adds her hand coming to her head.
"Another headache?" asks Emily.
"Mhm" nods Evie, "just mild though."
"Let's go home" says Jayden as they power down and exit the zords.
Mike watching Evie and he sees her falter slightly, but she covers it quickly.
Knowing there was nothing he could do tonight Mike opts to leave it.
It didn't take long for the rangers to fall asleep once they got home, each one exhausted from the beatings they'd taken. Save one who found herself staring at her ceiling, doubt and worry churning in her gut.
"It's not possible," she murmurs quietly, thought it was more a plea. She'd added up her symptoms in her mind, and just to be sure she did a quick search and it left her even more worried.
"Please let me be wrong," she pleads quietly.
Jayden shifts at that point rolling over his arm wrapping around her and Evie looks at him, "I need to be wrong," she prays.
With that she snuggled against Jayden, but her sleep is anything but restful.
A/N: So by now I think i've dropped enough hints now for some people to figure out where some of this might be going, as always lemme know your thoughts :)
