A/N: So this one is a biggie I know, now some of its lighthearted fun, some of its expanding on a few things, and some of its build up for what's to come.
Also if anyone wants to tell me which of the baby names they like best feel free :)
And a big thank you to greydaydreams, and leenap1105 for your constant reviews, its always lovely to see.

Chapter 31

Jayden woke up and rolled over reaching for Evie only to find her side empty.
Sitting up sharply he realised it was cold as well.
He kicked off the covers and checked the bathroom but found it empty.
Grabbing his shirt he walked out of the room and down to the main part of the house when the soft sound of music reached him.
Walking towards the back door he opened it and looked outside.
Evie was dancing, it was beautiful as always. But it lacked her usual grace and skill, seeming more desperate to him.
Walking outside he leaned against one of the posts letting her notice him on her own.

As the music finished, she turned to him.
"It's been a long time since I've seen you doing this."
"Yeah well, better this than what Urumasa wants."
"You need to get some sleep."
Evie looks down, "Last time I slept I almost gave in to an evil sword."
"Maybe so, but it's not just you," reminds Jayden gently.
"I know" sighs Evie her hand resting on her stomach. "I just really, really could've done without this on top of everything else."
Jayden walks forwards and hugs her, "I know, but if anyone can beat this, it is you."
"I hope so."
"Come on, come back to bed, if not for you then for the baby."
Evie nods and turns off the music before they walk back inside.

Changing into a fresh pair of pyjamas Evie slides into bed next to Jayden.
"Get some sleep," he says kissing her shoulder.
Evie sighs but lets her eyes fall shut, the toll of everything landing on her, and eventually she's pulled under.
Jayden however doesn't let himself go back to sleep, if Evie was worried about something happening then he'd make sure it didn't.
He shifts about to grab his sketchpad when he feels something hit his leg.
He grabs it and finds it's a notebook with a list open on the page.
Flicking on the side light he looks at and realises it's a list of names. Baby names.
And he smiles as he reads them through.
Alison
Lily
Katrina
Aurora
Amaya

Markus
Daniel
Matthew
Jake
Ash

He loved the fact she'd though to put his parents' names down, and her dads as well.
He was just glad that Mike's name wasn't on there in any form. No way in hell was he was naming his kid after Mike, regardless.
Looking at the list of names her wondered if it was a boy or a girl, he didn't mind either way. But he did like the idea of a little girl, a mini-Evie as the others had said.
His grandmother had, had red hair, which meant he probably carried the gene. And given his lighter tone, it was quite likely that their child would have Evie's fiery locks. But it was a tossup on eye colour, and he now knew they could change for up to a year after birth. He'd started doing his own research, he wanted to know what to expect. Plus, he'd been curious which traits the baby would inherit from the two of them.
He eventually falls into a light doze, Evie still sound asleep in his arms.

Mike was scrolling through an article on pregnancy as he ate his breakfast and was becoming more and more disturbed every minute.
"Why would any woman want his?" he shudders.
"Want what?" asks Antonio walking into the room.
"To have a baby, because this entire process seems kind of horrific, never mind doing it more than once," answers Mike.
"Why are you reading an article on pregnancy?" asks Kevin.
"Well Evie says she's not sure what's the pregnancy and what's Urumasa, so I was looking to see when maybe the symptoms might settle."
Antonia lets out a gasp. "You're trying to win brownie points to try and get them to name you the godfather."
Mike looks at him sharply, "I am not, I'm trying to help."
"Yeah and by doing so you earn more brownie points. I already know Evie likes a point system when she's judging someone or something. You're hoping if you help with this it gets you further up than me. And so once this is dealt with you can help," argues Antonio.

"So what if I gets my brownie points, I'm helping Evie out, besides I've already got way more points in my column than you I bet," smirks Mike.
"Well two can play at this game" answers Antonio as he too starts looking up articles.
Kevin looks between the two of them before rolling his eyes, "I'm surrounded by children," he mutters as he turns and walks out of the kitchen.

"You, okay?" asks Mia as she sees Kevin looking exasperated.
"Antonio and Mike are both completing to try and get Evie and Jayden to pick one over the other to be the babies godfather. They're both currently reading articles on pregnancy."
"That's so strange, and really not our biggest concern right now."
"You see either of them this morning?"
"Not yet, but I'm pretty sure Evie was still awake when I used the bathroom at like 2am."
"There has to be something we can do to break this swords hold on Evie," muses Kevin.
"Maybe distance? Think if we sent it to the Tengen Gate or something?"
"No, something tells me distance will only do so much. Plus, the Tengen Gate isn't safe anymore, Deker would get it back."
"Then we'd better think of something because if triggering Evie's aggression is how it plans to gain more influence over her, we're in big trouble as her pregnancy progresses. My mom almost killed my dad when she was pregnant with me apparently, same with Terry."
"And as we have already established Evie is not the calmest of people on a good day."

"Do we have any information on Deker?" asks Mia.
"No, Evie looked when he first turned up."
"There has to be something."
"If there is, we'll find it."

Evie and Jayden walk out of their room then, "Morning," says Evie rubbing her eyes.
"Morning, how did you sleep?" asks Mia.
"Well I was still in my bed when I woke up so doing better," answers Evie walking into the kitchen and her eyes widen when she's presented with two cups of coffee.
"Uh, morning," she says.
"I figured you'd want some coffee," smiles Mike holding it out.
"Actually I figured it and he copied me," corrects Antonio also holding his out.
Evie looked between them, "Well I can drink two, thanks" she says taking them.
"Caffeine intake" reminds Mia as she walks in along with Jayden and Kevin.
"I've got a crazy sword trying to connect to me, do not start on at my coffee intake," warns Evie.
"It's the taste and the habit more than the actual caffeine right?" asks Mia.
"Mostly."
"Then I have an idea, I'll be back," smiles Mia as she turns around and walks out of the room.
"Where is she going?" asks Evie.
"No idea, but I'll make sure whatever she's thinking doesn't pose more risk to you and the baby than caffeine" answers Kevin as he goes after her.

"How are you feeling?" asks Mike looking at Evie.
"Meh."
"Do you want breakfast, I was just about to make something?" offers Antonio, "I can do pancakes?"
"Or I was going to make a bacon sandwich, do you want one?" counters Mike.
Jayden looks at both of them in confusion, why the hell were they being so strangely attentive.
"I don't fancy anything cooked thanks," replies Evie eyeing them both strangely as she moved towards the table when Antonio was suddenly next to her holding up a box of Frosties, "Cereal?" he offers.
"Or a yoghurt and fruit?" adds Mike as she looks behind her and sees him already at the fridge.
"Uh I'll go with the yoghurt and fruit thanks," answers Evie as she moves towards the fridge.
"No need, you sit down, I'll do it," smiles Mike, "You know you can eat as much yoghurt as you like while pregnant, it's totally fine. But you need to make sure fruit and veg you eat raw is properly washed," he notes washing the fruit in the sink before beginning to slice it.

Evie looks at Jayden questioningly but he just throws his hands up and makes his cereal before sitting down next to Evie with his own coffee.
Mike sets the fruit down next to her with her yoghurt and couple of minutes later.
"Thanks," replies Evie as she starts eating.
"Anything else you want?" asks Antonio shooting a glare at Mike.
"No thanks."
"Okay well if you do, let me know, I am here for you," smiles Mike.
"As am I," agrees Antonio before the two walk out of the kitchen.

"What the fuck was that about?" asks Evie.
"I have no clue," replies Jayden.
"And I thought I was the one supposed to start acting weird," she snorts shaking her head, "Or you."
"I'm sure we'll find out eventually," shrugs Jayden, "And it's my baby I'm allowed to get weird."
"Yes, you are," smiles Evie as she finishes off her food, "I'm going to go and ask Ji what his plan is for training," she says as she walks out of the kitchen and down to Ji's office.

Knocking she walks in and sees him sat with a book in front of him.
"Morning."
"Morning, how are you feeling?" asks Ji.
"Other than Mike and Antonio being weirder than usual, fine mostly."
"Good, what can I do for you?"
"What's the plan for training? If I can't get aggressive then I can't train."
Ji nods, "I think you can go a few days without training and not suffer any ill effects. Watch and advise, as for symbols you should be fine."
"What about if a Nighlok turns up?" asks Evie.
Ji ponders that for a moment, "Better they be on the receiving end than anyone else."
"Fair enough," nods Evie as she looks around, she and Jayden didn't come in here often given it was Ji's space.

There were a few photos dotted around, her and Jayden or them with Ji, and a couple of the whole team. A framed sketch of Jayden's of the Shiba House, along with the traditional samurai décor. Her gaze lingering on a particular tapestry for a reason she couldn't quite understand, but pushes it away and continues looking. Until Evie's gaze lands on a photo pushed further back on the shelf behind her. "Any chance your dad has any insight into your current situation?" she asks.
"I did consider it, but I doubt it. He had access to the same resources as us."

"Or do you just not want to tell him one of your Samurai has managed to end up pregnant, and now connected to an evil sword?" she snorts.
"Urumasa is not your fault Evie, there was no way to foresee this."
"But you also don't want to tell him he's what, technically a grandfather?" she clarifies.
"I have not mentioned your current situation, no. Besides he is already a grandfather to my two nephews, and I am sure when we do tell him he will be just as happy. He was very fond of Alison and Daniel. And as I recall your grandfather was his favourite."
"Good to know," nods Evie, "So since I can't train, you got a spare set of robes for me to borrow?"
Ji chuckles and rolls his eyes, Evie smiles before walking out.

Evie and the others were dressed for training when Mia and Kevin returned.
"Perfect timing, we're about to start," says Jayden.
"Great just let us change," smiles Mia.
"What did you get?" asks Emily nervously as she notes the shopping bag.
"Well since Evie has to monitor her caffeine intake, and she drinks it more for the habit and taste. I got this," answers Mia pulling out a couple of jars.
Evie takes it and smiles as she reads the label. "Decaf, thank you for the thought."
"No problem," assures Mia as she takes the jar and walks back inside.

"Don't worry, its store brought and I convinced her not to do nothing extra with it" promises Kevin as he too heads inside.
"Thank god for that," chuckles Jayden.
Mia and Kevin re-join them and Evie stands next to Ji as the others train, offering the occasional point as well. Until the sound of the gap sensor interrupts them.
"Shit," mutters Mike as they head inside.
"Moogers, at the park," explains Ji bringing up the map.
"Well better the aggression be at the Nighlok than any of you," says Evie.
"We'll make this quick," assures Jayden.

The seven of them race out of the gate, morphing as they go.
Arriving at the park they see the moogers terrorising people.
"Let's take 'em down."
"Mia, Antonio, get the civilians out of here," orders Jayden the others beginning to take on the moogers.
"Bring it on uglies" says Mike.
Evie launches herself into the thick of things, and once again the aggression surges forwards, her attacks becoming more vicious as she spins and twists taking out moogers, left, right and centre.

None of the rangers notice they're being watched.
"So which has Urumasa chosen," muses Serrator.
"The Black Ranger," answers Deker easily.
"You sound certain."
"She's the most logical choice, her element is metal. And seeing her fight now, she seems more aggressive than usual," replies Deker, and knowing she likely had a far deeper well of anger for Urumasa to tap into made her the likeliest candidate.
"Excellent, then I doubt it will be long before the rangers are looking for any way to rid themselves of the other half."
"Not long at all," agrees Deker, the red ranger would never allow the black ranger to suffer, he'd hand over the other half without much fight if it freed her of the influence. Much as they tried to tell themselves, neither would ever sacrifice each other.
The rangers take down the moogers, it having been more of a test to allow Serrator and Deker to figure out who Urumasa had chosen.

"Is that it?" asks Mia looking around.
"No Nighlok," notes Emily.
"Weird," agrees Kevin.
"Something's not right," says Jayden scanning the park.
"Yeah, I was hoping for more of a workout," snorts Evie.

They power down still suspicious.
"Looking for someone rangers?" asks Deker as he steps forwards.
The turn each one pulling their swords.
"I'm not here to fight, at least, not yet. You have something I want and by now, it is making it influence felt. There is however a solution for that."
"Let me guess, give it back to you, and its influence goes away?" asks Jayden.
"Yes, freeing the black ranger from Urumasa's pull, as she returns to a more worthy bearer. After all Serrator did create Urumasa for me."
Everyone looks surprised.
"Who else would Urumasa chose for its new bearer than the metal samurai, with enough darkness to provide fuel?"
"Evie's nothing like you," insists Emily.
"Return the other half to me, and Urumasa will release the black ranger."
"We're not giving you your psycho sword back," snaps Evie narrowing her eyes, "Get used to living without it, for what time you have left."
Deker chuckles, "You do strike me as a woman of your word black ranger, but will your friends be so willing to see you suffer?"
"Crawl back to whatever rock you came from Deker, we'll be seeing you and this time, you won't be coming back," warns Evie.
"We shall see, I'll be close by when you change your mind," replies Deker before he disappears again.

"So we were right, this was all a ploy," says Kevin.
"Not one we're giving into," replies Evie.
"Let's get home," nods Jayden.

They head back to the house, and find Ji waiting for them inside.
"We were right, Deker was there, he knows Urumasa has connected to Evie, and he says the only way to break it, is to return it."
"As we feared."
"There has got to be another way, Deker needs Urumasa, if we can keep it away from him, we have too. It obviously gives him more power, and if he's working for Serrator and Serrator wants Urumasa returned then there has to be something bigger at play," warns Evie.

"Oh my god", realises Mia as the pieces fell into place.
"What?" asks Antonio.
"I thought I recognised Serrator but I couldn't think where from. It wasn't him, but his voice, and I know where I've heard it before. Serrator is the Nighlok King from the story."
"What Deker and Dayu's story?" asks Emily.
"Yes, I saw it in Dayu's dream, Serrator is the one who made Dayu and Deker into Nighloks. And who erased his memory and turned his katana into Urumasa. Serrator made Urumasa, he must be the one who made it reach out. Deker just wants his duel same as always, Serrator is the one with the plan."

"But what is that plan?" asks Mike.
"I'd assume along the same lines as any Nighloks, misery, flood the world, wipe out humanity. But he's going about it a different way," says Kevin.
"Smarter way," nods Antonio.
"And he needs Deker and Urumasa for whatever it is," finishes Emily.
"Then its settled, we cannot give the other half back," explains Evie.
"That is not settled Evie," counters Jayden.
"It has to be, we will find another way. Until then I can deal with this."
"But it isn't just you."
"Urumasa doesn't have the ability to control my body, which means it doesn't have the ability to spontaneously abort the baby. If I can keep control, then we find another way. A way that doesn't involve giving the bad guys exactly what they want!" snaps Evie.

"I hate to say this, but Evie has a point. If she can keep control, even for a little longer. Then maybe we can find another way," admits Kevin.
"But how?" asks Mike.
"I don't know. But we will find a way, there has to be another way," says Ji.
"Until then, we keep an eye on Evie." nods Mia.
"I don't need to be babysat" retorts Evie the bite in her words evident, as was the fact she was fidgeting, her hands opening and closing in fists. Her feet shifting, her entire body felt wired.
"Maybe not, but you want to keep control, deal with it," answers Jayden.

Evie goes to protest but Jayden holds up his hand, "You pinky swore."
Evie lets out a growl before she nods, "Fine," she huffs crossing her arms.
"Let's try and figure something out then, sooner, rather than later," says Ji.
"We've already checked the archives though," reminds Kevin.
"What about symbols, checking our family books too and seeing if there is any mention of any kind of counteracting symbol, or maybe there's something in Evie and Jayden's bond that could negate it?" suggests Emily.
"It could be worth a try," nods Ji.

Everyone grabs their books and starts reading, save Evie who's still too wired to sit still, and she begins to pace.
Feeling how agitated she was Jayden reaches out and grabs her hand pulling her to a stop, closing his eyes he opens the bond and begins soothing the agitation he could feel.
Evie relaxes a little taking a deep breath before she looks at him.
"Better?" asks Jayden opening his eyes.
"A bit."
Jayden smiles and squeezes her hand.
Evie grabs her book and sits down.

"Okay, I've got a couple of purification symbols here" notes Kevin after an hour or so.
"I've got some cleansing ones," adds Jayden.
"Nothing here," says Mike.
"Mine neither," sighs Mia.
"I've got one for overriding and burying?" offers Emily.
"And I've got one for shaping or forging," finishes Evie.
"There is an old book, it might not work, but it's worth a try, Evie's it's in my study if you could get it," says Ji.
Evie nods and walks into Ji's study, as she spots the book she grabs it but once again her gaze is pulled to the tapestry. Walking over to it she looks at it, but sees nothing of note.
Reaching underneath it she rests her hand on the wall and the pull she felt from Urumasa sparks into life, a desperate surge and Evie drops the book from the force of it, a gasp escaping her as she tries to push it back. One hand still pressed to the wall, the other clutching her head.

With a groan she yanks her hand back, and mentally pushes Urumasa back before letting out a sigh and rubbing her head.
Picking up the book she walks back out to the others and hands the book to Ji, she sees Jayden given her an enquiring look but she just gives him a reassuring smile. She wasn't letting Deker get Urumasa back.

Emily was lying in bed, playing with the ape zord, she'd woken up from a weird dream and hadn't been able to sleep, when she heard something.
Sitting up she slid on her slippers and her robe before sticking her head out and she hears muttering coming from the kitchen.
Walking down she steps inside and finds Evie trying to clean up what looked like a broken glass.
Emily flips on the light, "are you okay?" she asks as she releases it wasn't just glass on the floor, but blood as well, and more joining it from Evie's hand.
"Fine I'm not fragile you know," snaps Evie.
"Sorry," apologises Emily.
Evie takes a deep breath and shuts her eyes for a moment before shaking her head, "no I'm sorry."
"Let me get the first aid kit for that, we can clean the glass up in a moment" advises Emily gently as she steers Evie over to the sink before grabbing the kit and pulling out what she'd need. Being repeatedly patched up over the years meant she knew exactly what to do.

"Why were you doing this in the dark?" asks Emily as she cleans the cut before wrapping it up.
"I can usually not require full lighting to make hot milk, I've been able to do it since I was seven," sighs Evie.
"You know lack of sleep makes you less co-ordinated, and you've got a lot on your mind right now."
"Yeah, as I keep being reminded."
"We just want to help" says Emily.
"I know you do, but you can't, not with the baby, not yet at least. And not at all with Urumasa, save Jayden and I wasn't waking him up because I'm feeling restless," replies Evie trying to keep the annoyance out of her voice and failing.
"Are you feeling a little smothered?"
"Try a lot."
"You know it might not just be that though. Maybe Urumasa is blowing your annoyance up?"
"Maybe, not like its hard. Hence why it picked me."
"Plus lack of sleep."
"Okay so I have a lot of reasons to have problems," snaps Evie before sighing, "I'm sorry, I just, I don't even know" says Evie as she turns and sits down resting her head on top of her arms.
Emily grabs the dustpan and brush quickly cleaning up the glass before sitting down next to her. "What do you want to do?"
"I don't know, I feel restless, I feel wired. I'm irritated, I'm off balance, and I don't like it. And I don't even know what to blame on what," answers Evie without moving her head.

"Would sparring help?" offers Emily.
"I don't want to hurt you Em, even accidentally."
"What about just the bag?"
"I'm not supposed to be doing things that spike my aggression."
"No offence but I think your aggression is already spiked. At least it might tire you out enough to sleep, or make you feel a little less wired."
"What the hell, better the bag than anyone else," mutters Evie as she stands up, "Or you know I get angrier, find Urumasa and kill everyone in their sleep."
"Why don't I sit with you? Then if you do seem to go funny, I'll know," smiles Emily.
"No offence to you Em, but I could hurt you, badly" reminds Evie, and she didn't want that.
"Oh I know, I actually meant I'd yell really, really loudly and let the whole house know," answers Emily with a giggle.
Evie lets out a laugh shaking her head, "Thanks Em."
"Anytime."

The two move through to the dojo and Emily settles on the steps watching Evie while she shrugs off her hoodie and drops it down before starting what Emily could tell was routine as Evie attacked the bag.
As she watched her gaze landed on Evie's stomach, still completely flat, but Emily found it both kind of awesome and a little disconcerting that there was a baby growing in there. That in seven and a half months' time, there would be a little mixture of Evie and Jayden joining this world.
Evie noticed her gaze, "Marvelling at the miracles of life or creeped out by the fact I'm literally growing another person?" she asks not faltering in her attacks.
"A bit of both" admits Emily, "How does it feel for you? I mean I know you can't feel it moving yet, but do you like know it's there?"
"I can't feel any difference now really. Other than the symptoms I get, but the baby itself, nothing yet."
"And just knowing it's there?"
"That really depends on my mood," admits Evie, "Sometimes I think wow, I'm having a baby, others it's like holy shit I'm having a baby and sometimes it's what the hell am I doing?"
"You're going to be a good mom you know."
Evie lets out a snort, "We'll see, dark twisty doesn't sound like its good mother material," she replies as she delivers a particularly vicious kick to the bag.
"But you're more than just dark and twisty Evie. So much more, and it won't just be you. You'll have Jayden and Ji, and all of us. Kat and Tommy too."
"Yeah, and I'm pretty sure I could still screw up my child. You can have the world's most loving father and a shitty mother still screws you up."
"You're not like her, I know you're not" assures Emily.
Evie turns, "How do you know that Em? Your parents love you; your sister adores you. And while you might've doubted yourself, they helped you back up right? You never doubted in your mind, that you were the biggest thing in your parents world?"
"No," admits Emily, and she meant it, other than occasional moments where she wished her parents had more time for her, she'd always known she was as important to them as Serena was.

"It's not something you can understand fully unless you've lived it Em. You come from a loving home, with a great family. All of you do. And Jayden might not have his parents, Antonio might not have his mom, but they're not here because they couldn't be. My mom chose to leave, chose to stay away, chose to start a new life, a life she erased me from. She is raising another child, a child that she never carried, that she didn't give birth too. And she loves him more than she ever did me. And there is no way on this planet you can understand how that feels Em. None of you can. The reason Urumasa was able to connect with me isn't because I'm the metal samurai, it was able to connect with me because I am warped, because there is enough repressed anger and hatred that it has a source to tap. And as we've all pointed out I'm not a zen person, there always just enough aggression simmering underneath for it to be able to intensify it, to take hold and keep hold. And if there is enough screwed up in me, what the hell am I thinking assuming I could ever be any sort of mother to my child?" asks Evie.

Emily looks at her and she feels her heart break for Evie. Not just because of what she said, but because of how she said, the sheer matter of fact tone, like that was that. And because she was right, she could never understand how Evie felt to know her mother was out there in the world living a new life with a new family and she'd never even bothered to see what had happened to her child.
Emily stands up and walks over to her, hugging her tightly.
Evie just stands there for a moment.
"I don't understand how it must feel for you, I don't understand how much it must hurt you. But you aren't like her, because we won't let you be. Her team was a team, but we are a family, and it might not be the same thing, but we love you. And just because Deker and Urumasa think you're twisted, doesn't mean there isn't more to you than that. We're more than our parents."
Evie lets out a choked half gasp before hugging Emily back.
"Come on, you should sleep," smiles Emily keeping her arm around Evie as they walk back to her room.
As Evie settles Emily slides in next to her, "Your baby will never be alone" she promises.
Evie nods before giving into exhaustion and she falls into a restless sleep.
Emily looks down at Evie and then her gaze slides to her stomach, "Don't worry, your mommy's not alone," she smiles before curling up next to her and falling asleep.

Jayden's eyes fly open with a gasp, his eyes instantly darting around as he relaxes slightly at realising, he was in his bed.
As he looked down her saw Evie's arm wrapped around him, her comforting weight against his back calming him. She was here, they both were. Then his gaze latched onto her hand and he saw a bandage tied around it that hadn't been there when they'd gone to sleep.
Rolling over his eyes widen when he sees Emily asleep on Evie's other side, her hand resting on Evie's arm.
"What the hell did I miss?" he wonders as he picks up Evie's hand and checks it, the bandage was well-secured, and his gaze slide back to Emily, he really needed to know what he'd missed.

Evie stirs then her eyes opening and instantly locking onto him.
"Morning."
"Hi, so want to tell me what I missed?" he asks nodding to her hand.
"Hmm?" asks Evie looking down and it. And then she sits up.
"You okay?" checks Jayden.
"Yeah just, weird dream," she sighs, "Oh and that's from broken glass," she adds nodding to her hand.
"Don't worry I patched her up" assures Emily surprising them both.
"Thanks Em," says Evie.
Emily just smiles, "What time is it?"
Jayden looks at the clock, "nine" he answers stopping the alarm just before it goes off.
"Ugh," mutters Evie flopping back onto the bed.
"Want some of the decaf coffee Mia bought for you?" offers Jayden.
"Yes please." Jayden nods and slides out of bed, Emily joining him as they walk down to the kitchen.

"What did I miss?" asks Jayden as soon as their out of earshot.
"I couldn't sleep and I heard a noise, so I went looking and I found Evie having broken one of the glasses trying to do some hot milk. She was pretty agitated, she went at the bag a little, don't worry I kept and eye. And then she kind of let some stuff out."
"Some stuff being?"
Emily looks uneasy.
"Em, please, I need to know," pleads Jayden.
Emily sighs but nods, "Some of it is the usual, she's worried she'll be a bad mom like hers was. And some of it was just, I think this is getting to her more than she's letting on. I think it's bringing everything up for her, she said none of us know how it feels for her to know that her mom is out there, living a new life with a new family. And despite how good you might be, she can still mess her child up even with everyone around her is about the gist."
Jayden sighs, "we need to find a way to separate her from Urumasa and soon, it's too much on top of the baby."
"I agree, but how? Because Evie will have a fit if we tell her we're giving it back to Deker, and we have no other alternative."
"I'd rather give it to Deker, duel him again and beat him like I did last time, than risk Evie" replies Jayden, "Which he damn well knows."
"You can't do this without telling her Jayden, she'll blow a gasket."
"I know" says Jayden running his hand through his hair, "But either way, we need to do something and fast" he sighs as they walk into the kitchen.

Evie looks up at the ceiling, the bizarre dream she had playing across her mind, but it was already fading. Yet she couldn't shake the weird feeling it left her with. Nor the headache that was forming.
Rolling over she reaches into her draw for her paracetamol when her hand lands on something else and she finds herself looking at the picture of her, with her dad and her mom.
They looked so happy, so ordinary. She could remember her dads smile even now, his voice was harder to recall but his smile was something that had never left her.
But her moms, the only image that ever recurred in her mind was the day she left, the anger, the coldness. And her voice, her voice she had never forgotten.
She closed her eyes against it but it washes over her, but this time it isn't her mother stood there, but herself and her own child looking up at her with fear in her eyes begging her not to leave.
"No" she gasps her eyes flying open, "I won't be her, I won't," she repeats the anger surging through her.
Standing up she pulls on her clothes and walks out of her room heading towards the front door she needed space she needed out.
"Evie, hey where are you going?" ask Emily.
"Out" snaps Evie.
"Not on your own," calls Jayden hurrying after her.

"I got her," assures Antonio who was already dressed and followed after her.
"I don't want company," growls Evie.
"Okay, but you promised, pinky swore actually. So, I'll just walk with you, long as you need," replies Antonio jogging to catch up to her as they came out of the gate.
"I don't need a babysitter," snarls Evie rounding on him and Antonio takes a sharp step back.
"No babysitter, but it makes us all feel better, so deal, please?" tries Antonio.
Evie just turns and keeps walking.
Antonio follows after her, "So we got a destination in mind?"
"Shut up and walk" answers Evie coldly.
"Shutting up," says Antonio miming zipping his lips.
Evie kept walking, she was feeling restless again, her entire body felt ready for a fight.
They keep walking until the reach the cliffs above the seafront.
"Okay you got a pace on you" says Antonio.

Evie ignores him, she wanted to fight, to get rid of this feeling.
"It's a strong pull, isn't it?" comes a voice and both turn to see Deker stood a little way off.
"What do you want?" asks Antonio.
"The same thing I've always wanted," answers Deker, "My duel and Urumasa."
"Well we happen to be short both," replies Antonio.
"Hand it to me and it will cease to have a hold on the black ranger," says Deker.
"Evie's stronger than your sword" retorts Antonio, "She's dealt with worse."
"And that is exactly the problem" smirks Deker walking forwards.
Antonio pulls his sword and charges forwards but Deker counters him and before Antonio can react he's thrown clear across the ground landing hard as his head bounces off a tree root.
Evie pulls her sword then, "You're not getting Urumasa back, you're not touching Jayden," she says as she moves so she's between Deker and Antonio who was just about moving.
"Is it truly just to defend your lover that you don't wish to return the sword? Or are you starting to enjoy the power you're feeling from it? The desire to fight, the knowledge you're stronger, better?"
"I'm not you, I know who I am and I am more than a sword. I've faced worse."
"Exactly, its why Urumasa chose you, hatred, anger, a warriors spirit and a shadow with so much more potential" replies Deker. "You feel it don't you, the urge to fight, the need for it."
"Worried?"
"You might be a worthy opponent, but I need Urumasa."
"Not happening."
"For now, perhaps, but your friends will not wish to see you suffer, nor will you lover. They will bring me the other half, sooner or later," smirks Deker.
Evie just narrows her eyes.
Deker chuckles, "Very well black ranger, you might not wish to give up the sword but your team will once they see its effects. And then I will be complete again" says Deker, "We'll see each other soon," he adds before changing into his Nighlok form and disappearing through a gap.

Evie stares at it for a moment, the call to fight still flooding her. Until she hears Antonio groan and is able to push it aside, her sword disappearing as she moves over to Antonio.
"Ow," he mutters as he pulls himself up.
"Are you okay?" she asks.
"I've been better, but I think I'll live," he replies, "Ugh that hurt."
Evie pulls out her samuraiser and draws the symbol for home, the two of them reappearing in the middle of the drive.

As she helps Antonio inside the others spot them and hurry over.
"What happened?" asks Jayden.
"Deker," answers Antonio, "He really wants that sword back."
"Are you alright?" asks Mike looking at Evie.
"Fine," nods Evie brushing off his concern.
Ji checks Antonio over diagnosing him with a mild concussion and he's soon settled on the couch with Mia keeping an eye on him.
Evie walks out onto the porch, everything Deker had said swirling in her mind. They couldn't give him back Urumasa.
A pair of arms wrap around her and she looks back at Jayden.

"Are you sure you're alright?" he asks.
"He didn't even touch me"
"Did he say anything?"
"The usual, wants Urumasa and his duel."
"Sounds like Deker, have you eaten yet?"
"Not yet."
"Go and get some food."
"I know how to look after myself Jayden, I don't need you to hover," says Evie coldly as she turns and walks back inside.
Jayden sighs and shakes his head, things were escalating and fast.
Evie walks into the kitchen and finds Mike.

"Hey, you want some food, I can make something?"
"I am perfectly capable of getting my own breakfast, I'm pregnant not a fucking invalid!" yells Evie.
Mike's eyes widen, "Sorry, just trying to help."
"Well stop!" snaps Evie as she shoves past him.

Mike winces and walks out of the kitchen joining the others in the living room, "she's getting worse" he says.
"She is, and fast," agrees Jayden.
"We need to get her separated from Urumasa, its causing more problems, and with the baby she's going to burn out, and that'll make her more vulnerable," says Emily.
"The only solution we have is return it to Deker," reminds Kevin.
"Then we do it. Jayden beat him before; he can do it again. And we need Evie back in form, I say better the devil you know," says Mike.
"I agree, Evie is getting dangerous and who says she won't hurt herself in the process," nods Antonio.
"She's struggling," sighs Emily.
"We'll deal with Deker," says Mia.
"I hate to say it but I agree, this is leaving us vulnerable, more so than giving Urumasa to Deker," agrees Kevin.
Everyone looks at Jayden who sighs, "You're right, we need to separate her and quickly, it's too much. I can handle Deker."
"So how do we do this?" asks Mia.
"I'll go and arrange a meeting with Deker," says Jayden.
"Wow on your own?" asks Kevin.
"He's right you can't go alone," protests Mike.
"Take Kevin with you at least," says Ji.
Jayden sighs but nods, "alright, Deker is close by of that I have no doubt. Let's go and talk" he answers.
"Evie's not going to like this" reminds Emily.
"I'm the red ranger, it's my decision, and it's for Evie's good and the babies as well. She can yell at me later," replies Jayden as he turns and walks out of the room with Kevin beside him.
"I hope this works," says Mia.
"As do I," agrees Ji.

None of them aware of Evie listening at the door, Deker was right. She couldn't let this happen. She wouldn't.
She slipped back into the kitchen as the others went their separate ways, Ji moving out into the garden while Mike and Antonio began a game, Emily watching while Mia disappeared into her room.
"Not happening," decides Evie as she moves through the house heading for Ji's study, she could feel the pull, and now instead of hiding from it she actively felt it. Letting it guide her, unaware of how clouded her own thoughts were becoming, she needed Urumasa, for everyone's sake, better her than Deker.
