A/N: So here we go, for anyone who is interested I picture Maxim Roy as Evie's mom.

Chapter 33

Evie watched the house desperately trying to ignore the voice in her head. Once she'd realised just how far Urumasa wanted her to go she'd managed to regain a little control.
"Go on, after everything she did. She abandoned you, chose children not even of her own blood to raise. She hurt you, she broke you. Why should she get this?"
"Stop it, the others have done nothing."
"She chose them, chose them over you, over her own child, the child she carried for nine months, the child she pushed from her own body. She threw you aside like you were nothing and chose these ordinary ones instead. She abandoned you to this life, alone, never able to full trust, full of so much doubt,"
"They don't know about me."
"How do you know? What if they do, what if her husband wanted you kept away from his family? She doesn't even care enough to see if you're still breathing after your fights. How do you know they don't want you kept away as well, you and your child."
"Stop it, I won't hurt innocent children, and no one will touch my baby," hisses Evie shutting her eyes.
"She chose him, chose that ordinary child, that child that holds no part of her, over you. Her firstborn, her only daughter, her only true child. Kill him, kill the others and then kill her, and then all those who have hurt you will be gone. And she will know a fraction of your pain. Remove her before she can hurt your child the way she hurt you."
Evie finds herself moving but throws herself back against the tree, "No, no I won't hurt innocents."
"Then let's kill her, then you can have peace, you can be free of what she did. Let go and embrace this, embrace the darkness you've carried with you for so long. Let it bring you the peace you have so long sought, the resolution you deserve. Confront your demon and kill her. Ensure your child never feels the pain she wrought upon you. Kill her so she can never hurt your child," urges Urumasa the voice almost like a caress in her mind.

"What kind of mother am I to murder my own?"
"This is justice, you won't be her. And if she is gone, she can never hurt you again, not you, and not your child. Your child will grow up strong and free. Kill your mother and all your pain, all those doubts go away."
"I kill her, and it'll stop?"
"Yes, you deserve to be free, and if you kill her, you will be."
Evie feels years of anger welling up inside her and she starts to walk forwards again, reaching behind her she pulls Urumasa from the scabbard on her back.
"Yes, kill her."
Evie's grip tightens on the end as she reaches the back gate.

She kicks it open and walks in the anger surging through her, the bang as it hits the fence echoes and a few seconds later Nia walks out stopping dead when she saw Evie.
"Hi mom, I'm home."
"Evie," gasps Nia.
"Wow, you actually remember by name, strange given you erased me. Erased my name, erased my existence, pretended I didn't exist" snaps Evie. "13 years since you dumped me like I was trash onto Ji's doorstep. When you told me I was a mistake, that you never wanted me, pushed me to the ground and walked away as I screamed at you to stay, as I begged you to not leave me."
Nia looks away.
"You know I didn't even know if you were still alive up until less than a year ago. And imagine how it felt when I learnt you married again, you were raising his two sons, and that you had another child. That I had a little brother, a little brother you chose to raise, chose to love, chose to keep. And he isn't even yours, not like I am. I'm your blood, your child, I'm a Kai, he isn't. He's nothing, he's ordinary and you kept him, you kept him, and you abandoned me," says Evie her voice breaking as she remembers the pain she felt.
"Evie I'm-" Nia starts but Evie cuts her off pointing Urumasa at her.

"You're what? You're sorry, you never called, never wrote, never cared enough to even find out if I was alright!" yells Evie advancing on her mother angrily, Urumasa channelling her rage. "Do they even know I exist, does this perfect little family of yours know you abandoned your own child, your first born, your blood?" she gestures to the house.
"No," answers Nia quietly her eyes wide as she looked at Urumasa and then at Evie.
"You carried me, for nine months I was a part of you in the way they never were. You felt me move, felt me kick, you brought me into this world. And then you cast me aside, abandoned me like I was nothing. But you kept him, you chose a perfectly ordinary child over me," hisses Evie the pain and anger mingling in her mind, setting her blood aflame with hatred and she shoves her mother backwards, and she lands on the small deck behind her.

"Evie please-" starts Nia.
"Please what?" snarls Evie, "You left me, you broke me, do you know what you did to me? Do you have any idea just how far reaching what you did to me was?"! screams Evie as she brings Urumasa down next to her mother's head.
Nia cries out, tears streaming down her face.

"Evie stop!" shouts a voice.
"Evie, this isn't you. You need to think, look at what you're doing. Ignore the sword, it doesn't want to help you, it only wants to feed the darkness," says Wes.
"If I kill her, it goes away, the pain, the doubts, the shadow."
"No, it doesn't go away Evie. She's not a demon you can slay like you would a Nighlok, please put the sword down, she doesn't deserve this," pleads Wes.
"Yes, she does, you don't understand, and you never will. She deserves this, she deserves to know what she did, to know even a fraction of how it felt, of how I feel. She chose these ordinary nobodies, people who aren't even her own blood. She's raising a child she didn't even give birth too, and two who already have a mother," snarls Evie. "And she left me screaming for her, left me for something I had no control over. She was supposed to train me, to prepare me, supposed to support me and love me. But she left me like I was trash, tossed me aside like I was nothing." Tears clouding her eyes.

"What about your baby Evie?" asks Eric. "What good does this do your child?"
"If I kill her, she never gets the chance to hurt my baby the way she hurt me. And the doubts finally go away, the pain it goes away. I can be a better mother without that" answers Evie. "And she deserves to suffer."
"You're right, you're right she does deserve to know how it felt Evie. She should have to suffer, to understand exactly what she did and how it still affects you now and will affect you for the rest of your life. She shouldn't have left you, and I know how much it hurts to find out they chose someone else over you. That they've raised children even after they abandoned you.
But she isn't worth this Evie, she isn't worth this time, this effort, she isn't worth this rage and this hate. And it is not good for you or for the baby. Urumasa only wants to make you feel more rage and more pain. It doesn't care about you and it does not care about your baby. It chose you because it knows how much she hurt you, knows how much damage it did to you even now. The scars she left; the way her actions have affected every relationship you've ever had. That even now you are scared you'll fail your child because she failed you. That you'll be just like her.

But you won't, and that fear Evie, that is something all parents have. We all fear failing our children in some way. We worry about them, and we wonder if we are doing a good job or not. But I know you will be a good mother. You are a good, loyal, loving person, and you know how it feels when a parent fails you. And you would never let that happen. There will be no child on this earth more loved than yours. You can protect your child the way your mother didn't protect you," promises Eric.
"What if I can't?" chokes Evie.
"You can, and you will. You have your family, you have Jayden, you have your team, you have Ji, and Tommy and Kat and hey if you need parenting tips Eric and I have got plenty to spare too. But you can do this Evie, don't give in to what the sword wants. It isn't out to help you, or your baby," assures Wes.

"Let go of the sword and we'll take you home, back to your real family, to the people who love you. This woman is nothing, she's a coward, she's weak and she is not worthy of anymore of your time or emotions.
You said she was dead to you, you don't have to make that a reality, you just need to let go. You're stronger than she is, stronger than Urumasa. Don't let anger take control of your life not now, I made that mistake and it cost me so much, but I learnt to let it go. I learnt that love is so much better Evie, and there are so many people who care about you. Let go of her, let go of the sword and you can finally put this behind you," soothes Eric moving closer so he was next to her resting his hand on her arm.
"I know how much you think this will help, but it won't. Killing her will do nothing but make it all worse, don't give in to the anger, don't give in to the sword. Think of your baby, you do it no good by doing this."

"Ignore him, kill her. Make her hurt, make her feel the agony, kill her, then kill them all!" yells Urumasa in her mind.
Evie clutches her head, "Stop it, stop it," she cries trying to shut out he voice.
"That's it Evie, fight it, you are the strong one here, you're the black samurai ranger, and you're not going to let this sword control you," urges Eric.
Evie opens her eyes and taking a deep breath, she lets out a small scream before she pulls herself back and drops Urumasa onto the floor.

Eric kicks it away and catches Evie pulling her into his arms as he feels her entire body shaking as she buries her head in his chest.
"It's alright, you're okay" assures Eric rubbing her back.
Wes walks forwards and pulls out a container like the one they used to trap mutants and ensuring he didn't touch it, he shrank the sword down and shut it into the container. Then he turns to Nia and holds out his hand, "Are you alright?" he asks.
She takes it and rubs her back but nods, "What's going on?" she asks looking at Evie, her brain trying to wrap around the appearance of her daughter for the first time in 13 years, that she was pregnant and everything else that was going on.
"Oh Evie got accidentally bonded to an evil Nighlok sword that tapped into her repressed rage and hatred for you and drove her to try and kill you as revenge so the sword could use her fully as its new bearer," explains Wes as he helps her up.
Nia turns and looks at Evie and she moves towards her only to receive a glare from Eric that makes her stop short.
"The sword might've driven her to attack you, but everything else, that's all true," says Eric coldly.

"Evie!" calls a frantic voice and they turn and see Mike and Jayden have appeared a short way off and both rush over.
Eric and Wes both look up and Jayden skids to a stop next to Eric.
"Jayden," whimpers Evie.
"I'm here," assures Jayden as Eric hands Evie over and Jayden pulls her into his arms while Evie presses her hand to her head, "I can still hear it," she murmurs.
"I know baby, but we've got a plan, we'll fix this," promises Jayden.
"It hurts."
"I know it does, but you've got to stay strong just a little longer Evie, just a little bit longer I promise. Please for me and for the baby, this will be over soon," soothes Jayden rubbing her back comfortingly as she hugs him back her hands fisting in his shirt.
"Where is Urumasa?" asks Mike looking around.
Wes holds up the container, "In here."
"Cool," says Mike as he takes it and examines it.
"Tech from the year 3000," nods Wes.
"Double cool, Antonio would love to get his hands on this."
Eric takes it out of his hand, "Don't mess with future tech."
"I take it you're Eric and Wes."
"I'm Wes, this is Eric," he says pointing to him.
"Mike," says Mike, "That's Jayden."
"Yeah, we figured when Evie said his name," replies Eric before he glances at Nia.

"We need to get out of here, and you said you have a plan to shut the sword up?" he asks.
"We do," nods Mike.
Jayden looks at Nia then his eyes narrowing as he resists the urge to slam her head off the decking.
"Evie," says Nia stepping forwards but Jayden pulls her against him, "The only reason I didn't let her kill you is because I know it will hurt her," he warns coldly before turning to Wes and Eric.
"We'll need a little time before we can use the symbol again, is there somewhere else we can be?" asks Jayden.
"Come back to HQ," nods Wes.
They turn to leave.

"Wait" pleads Nia.
They look back at her, and Nia's gaze finds Evie, "Please let me explain?"
"You didn't for 13 years, why should I listen now?"
"Because I owe you the answers, I owe you so much. And because I am sorry. Please just, just let me explain, just give me five minutes," pleads Nia.
Jayden looks at Evie, "It's your choice."
"She's the only one who can give you answers, real answers," says Eric quietly.
Evie looks at Nia for a moment before nodding, "Fine."
"You can come back with us?" offers Wes.
"I'll take my car," says Nia.
Jayden keeps his arm wrapped around Evie and Mike settles on her other side as Wes and Eric steer them towards the Silver Guardians SUV.
Nia gets into her own car.

"I'm sorry," sighs Evie as she leans against Jayden.
"It's not your fault, Urumasa has a strong pull," soothes Jayden.
"I tried not to listen."
"Hey we know you did Evie, we all saw you fighting and clearly you fought enough to get loose of its control," assures Mike squeezing her hands reassuringly.
"I'm sorry I hurt you," she says looking at Mike.
"Yeah that was unpleasant to say the least, but hey, I know you'd never usually go for such a cheap shot," smiles Mike.

"Where are the others, are they alright?" asks Evie.
"They're fine. Making sure we're set to ensure you're separated from Urumasa," answers Jayden.
Evie nods. The exhaustion was starting to settle into her, as well as the amount of power she'd been using. Plus, the general tiredness she was feeling from the pregnancy.
"Don't let me sleep, it's easier when I sleep," says Evie forcing herself awake.
"Believe me, you're not getting hold of this thing again," assures Eric as he lifts the container holding Urumasa and shakes it.

"I almost killed her."
"To be honest I think she kind of deserved the scare, but the fact is you didn't. And that's what matters," smiles Mike.
"It wanted me to kill the others, but I wouldn't let it," murmurs Evie.
"Of course you didn't, because you're a good person," says Jayden.
"Messed up maybe, but your boyfriends right, believe me, I've met bad people. You're not one of them," assures Eric from the front.
"I agree, you're definitely not a bad person," nods Wes.
"Yeah you might be the commander of sneaky, but you're not bad," smiles Mike nudging her.
"That's supreme commander to you."
"Whatever you say supreme commander," chuckles Mike.
They arrive at the Silver Guardians base and Eric and Wes drive straight through allowing Nia in as well.
They park up outside and get out, Jayden keeping his arm around Evie who winces and clutches her head, "I'm not letting you out," she mutters.

A/N: Sorry to end it there, but don't worry there will be answers next chapter, lemme know if you've got any predictions :)
