A/N: And I'm back, just a little interlude before we continue, enjoy :)

Chapter 35

Mia and Emily walked down to Evie's room, knocking on the door they both stick their heads in and see Evie stirring in bed.
"Hey," smiles Mia as they walk over and sit down next to her.
"Hi," says Evie rubbing her eyes.
"How you feeling?" asks Emily.
"I should be asking you guys that," says Evie looking at Mia, "I'm sorry," she sighs sitting up.
"It wasn't you, and all you gave me was a few bruises" assures Mia.
"And I didn't even bruise, we have soft walls" agrees Emily.
"Your symbol was good though you know, very effective" smiles Evie looking at Emily.
"I didn't hurt you, did I?" asks Emily in concern.
Evie laughs, "Oh Em don't ever change. But I am so sorry I hurt you both" repeats Evie.
"We forgive you," assures Mia.
"Yeah," nods Emily as they both hug her.
Evie smiles and hugs them back, "Thank you."
"What is family for," smiles Mia as she pulls back.

"How are you doing though, Jayden told us about your mom?"
"I don't know to be perfectly honest. I mean I spent so long believing she never wanted me, and now she's literally turned everything I thought I knew on its head. It's confusing to say the least."
"Would you be interested in letting her back in to your life? Maybe meeting the others?" asks Emily.
"I really don't know, and I think that's something I'm going to really need to think about. And to be honest right now, I do not have the brain power to even touch that hot mess."
"That's fair," chuckles Mia.
"We're just glad your home, and safe and this time you actually got the answers," smiles Emily.
"Now how about we watch some TV?"
"Oh we missed last night's episode of Greys," nods Emily.
"Then we better call Mike," reminds Evie.
Emily nods and slides off the bed disappearing to grab her boyfriend while Mia settles next to Evie who rolls over and rests her head on her friends shoulder. "I really am sorry Mia."
"Hey, it wasn't you. And I know full well you could've done so much worse, but you had enough control, even under its influence to not. We were all up and moving around not long after you were gone," assures Mia resting her head on top of Evie's,

"I'm just glad you and our little samurai is alright."
"Little samurai, definitely sounds better than blob."
"Blob?"
"What Jayden called it because that's what he saw on the ultrasound."
"Yeah now we're not calling my niece or nephew a little blob."
"Oh don't worry I told Jayden he isn't allowed to call it that."
Mia smiles, "I like little samurai."
"I do too, at least until we know a gender and then a name."
"Have you thought about names?"
"I did actually, grab the notebook on the side."
Mia does so and looks at the list, "Oh I like Lily, or Amaya," she notes, "And naming it after your dad would be cute if it's a boy."
"Maybe, but we need a gender first and that is not for another three and a half months."

"What do you want it to be?"
"I really don't know; I don't think I have a preference."
"Well regardless boy or girl, you will have an attractive child."
"Oh that's a full gone conclusion," says Mike as he and Emily walk in. "Evie and Jayden were always going to produce a good-looking kid," he adds as he settles on the bed next to Evie.
"I'm really sorry Mike," apologises Evie when she sees the bruise on his face properly.
"Like I said, I know it wasn't you, you're too classy to go for the cheap shot."
"Still I'm sorry."
"No need to apologise, just don't do it again, yeah?" he asks.
"I will do my best to never do that again," promises Evie.
"Then we're good."
Evie smiles as Emily settles between Mike's legs as they switch the tv on and find the episode before settling in.

A couple of hours later they were all sat down for dinner.
"I just wanted to say I am really, really sorry, for hurting all of you," apologises Evie.
"It wasn't you," assures Ji.
"Yeah, we know that," nods Antonio.
"You didn't actually get me so I'm good," smiles Kevin.
"And hey no one lost consciousness so they're already doing better," agrees Jayden.
Evie shoves him playfully and he just smiles.

"You know, despite everything else, I am a little bit glad about today. Not that I hurt any of you, or that Deker got Urumasa back, but what it led to."
"Of course you were, it's perfectly understandable, it finally gave you the answers you needed, the ones we always knew were right," smiles Ji.
Evie smiles, "Yeah I guess it did."
"And we can handle Deker and Serrator," adds Mike.
"Damn straight," agrees Kevin.

"And at least it's all sorted before Jayden's birthday," says Mia.
"Oh my god yeah, I'd completely forgotten," nods Antonio, "It's only a couples of days off now."
"We're still going out right?"
"Absolutely," nods Evie, "We're all good now."
"And we get to meet Alyssa, properly," adds Mike with a smirk.
"Behave," replies Emily.
"And that means it's almost time for Mike to clean up his side of the room and change the sheets."
"Damn it," mutters Mike.
Everyone else just laughs.

Jayden was lying in bed sketching when Evie walked out of the bathroom and slid in next to him.
"What are you drawing?" she asks looking down at it.
"You're going to laugh at me."
"Why what it is?"
"Ideas for a nursery."
Evie lets out a laugh before smiling, "That is very sweet. Hilarious but sweet, don't worry I won't tell the others," she teases before curling up against him, "explain it to me."

"Okay, so I figured the others will have gone home by the time the baby comes. And I thought that initially, we could make what was my room into the nursery. You know for the feedings and the changing and the baby needing to be close. And then as it gets older, we can move it into one of the other rooms."
"I like it, but why would we be moving the baby later?"
"Because I highly doubt our child will want to be separated by only a bathroom when mommy and daddy decide that they want to repeat the process."
"Oh I like how you think," says Evie leaning up and kissing his cheek.
"I thought you might" smirks Jayden setting the sketchbook on the table before turning back to her, cupping her face as he kissed her.
Evie deepens it, looping her arms around his shoulders, because it occurred to her then, it had been at least a couple of days since she'd actually kissed her boyfriend.

They break for air but don't separate, Jayden resting his forehead against Evie's, "You know I think that's the first proper kiss you've given me in a few days," he notes.
"I know, figured I'd make it a good one," she smiles.
"Mission accomplished," chuckles Jayden pulling back to look at her properly, "Seriously though, how are you feeling?"
"I'm good now, really," promises Evie cupping his face, "Tired but good, I just feel bad for hurting the others."
Jayden drops next to her and pulls her into his arms, "They know you weren't in your right mind. And besides none of the damage was permanent on even long term, though Mike might have minor PTSD given his injury," teases Jayden.
"I feel especially bad about that one."

"Could've been worse," assures Jayden, "The fact you didn't hurt any of them seriously, and the fact you were able to take back enough control to not hurt your moms other family shows you hadn't completely lost control. Hell, you didn't even do any serious damage to Ji's study."
"I guess," sighs Evie.
"Either way, it is done, nobody blames you. We'll be back to normal tomorrow, and we will face whatever else comes. And you finally got your answers, and I know that it won't erase everything you've felt. But at least now you know, and when you hear that voice, you can remember it's wrong."
Evie smiles, "I love you."
"I love you too" he replies kissing the top of her head, "Now get some sleep, you deserve it."
Evie nods and Jayden flicks off the lights and for the first time in what felt like a lot more than a few days they fell into an easy sleep, and this time, neither one had any nightmares.

Kevin looked over at Mike, "How's your face feeling?"
"Sore, but I've had worse" assures Mike, "Though Ji might want a softer desk."
Kevin snorts, "I doubt he ever expected someone's head to be smashed into it."
"To be honest my face was the least of my concerns."
"Yeah I can respect that," nods Kevin with a wince.
"Got to give it to Evie though, she was a freaking snake with how she switched things up on us. I mean seriously the way she twisted, I don't even wanna know."
"I know exactly what you mean, you think you've got her, next thing you know. You don't" agrees Kevin.
"At least we know the baby hasn't affected her ability to be a badass," notes Mike.
"True enough, and that's good, because Deker has Urumasa back. And Serrator obviously has a plan."
"And they'll probably be making it known sooner, rather than later" finishes Mike.
With that thought they switched off the lights.
"We'll handle it though you know" says Kevin.
"You think?" asks Mike.
"No, I know" answers Kevin.
"Good" smiles Mike, and he meant it, they'd figure things out and they'd win, somehow, someway, they'd come out on top.

Ji had finished tidying up his study, he was surprised with how little damage had been done actually.
He sat down and let out a sigh of relief, he was certainly glad this was over.
But it wasn't all bad, Nia had finally owned up to her mistakes and Ji hoped that this time, this would finally be enough. And that it had given Evie the answers she'd finally needed.
He knew it had opened up a number of things that Evie would need to consider in time. Whether she wanted anything to do with her mother, whether she had any interest in knowing her step-siblings and her little brother. Whether she would want her mother to have any part of her child's life.
But they were things she could manage in time, for now they had more things coming, of that Ji was certain.
His gaze fell on the photo of his team, they could do it though. He had faith in them, faith in his team, in this team. They were probably the most unconventional team in the history of the samurai, but that was their strength as well.
And he smiled as he set the picture back down, they would do this, they had too.
