I stood there, before looking down, "Emil-Anime Girl?" Emilia looked at me, "Hm?" I stopped and looked at Ethan, before changing what I was going to say, "I'm hungry. You hungry? Yeah, your hungry." She thought for a moment and nodded, "I feel that we should indeed have something to eat after the long night we've had." I can't burden her with this knowledge until it's absolutely necessary. We'll deal with it eventually.
"Myy. It seems I haaaave guests." Roswaal said as he walked down the stairs, Emilia stepped forward, "Hello Roswaal. Sorry for being late. I got into a pretty nasty predicament but luckily these kind people helped me." 'Here we go again.' I sighed, before smiling, "Hi there, I'm Kenneth Richmond and you must be the fine owner of this mansion, correct?" He smiled, "Indeeeeeed, I am Roswaal L. Mathers." I nodded before Ethan stepped up and introduced himself.
After that, Roswaal once again lead the charge to the dining room. I decided to repeat a few sentences to see what would happen. "Man, this place is great, shame we're only staying until I get healed." Roswaal looked at me seriously. "Well, about that. You did save Miss Emilia, and she is one of the current royal candidates. So, I think rewards are in order." Ethan realized what I was doing, "Uhhh, what do you mean by royal candidate?" "Why, I meeaan that Eeeeemmmiiiilia is a potential candidate to become the next ruuuuuuler of this fiiiiiine kingdom." I nodded, "Alright. Rewards you say, well then." I smiled, "I'd like to live in this mansion with a small amount of funds every day. I'd of course run a few errands now and then for those that need it." Ethan looked at me in surprise. Ethan once again looked around, "Uhhh, I shall also go the truly slothful route and reside in this fine mansion." Roswaal nodded, "Then it is settled."
(Insert Opening Here)
I lied down on the bed in the room from before. Ethan sat on his bed looking down at the floor. I sighed, "Might as well pull the pin on this grenade. One of us died. We need to know who and how. Tell me what you did the day before the loop. Aside from coming to the village with me and Ram." Ethan thought for a moment. "I stayed in my room for the entire day, only coming out for lunch. I was trying to get a high score on Pong." "Why Pong? I would've expected you to still be playing Super Paper Mario." He shrugged, "I beat it during my time in that loop." His eyes widened, "I have to beat it again, NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" I smiled at his antics before sighing, "Wait, what percent is your phone at?" Ethan shrugged and checked, "That... this much be a glitch." "Why what is it?" "The battery hasn't gone down at all since we got here and I've been playing Super Paper Mario during the entire way here." I let that sink in, before shelving that thought for later, "Anyway back on topic. I don't remember doing anything that could've been fatal either. So, it must be one of two options." Ethan nodded, "Either someone from the village had enough of our shit and decided to off us as fast as they could." I nodded before finishing his thought, "Or someone from this household really wanted us dead."
I thought for a moment, "How about we split up and investigate each of the two locations. I'll handle the mansion since I've worked here last loop." Ethan nodded, "I guess I'll ask to go see the village for some reconnaissance." I nodded, "Alright let us begin."
I walked down to the village after me and Kenneth formulated the plan. I started by asking around, seeing if anyone knew of any suspicious activity in the village. Unfortunately absolutely no one had seen anything out of the ordinary. While I was talking to one of the villagers I noticed the same kids who asserted their dominance on me the other day destroying some pore lass. Being the nice person I am, I walked over to provide moral support.
O.C POV
There's no way out, it seems. No way to get away from it, anything I do is hopeless.
This village is so small, I cannot do anything about it. If only someone-
No, a miracle came by and helped me out. But there it was, someone to help me, right?
Oh, he's just standing there cheering the people pestering me up…
Mustering all the courage I had, I forced myself to walk over to him… "Why are you… helping them?"
He smiled proudly. "They're obviously the bigger Chad's here, much more worth it to invest my energy in them."
So much for getting my hopes up.
"When- No, what does 'Chad' mean?"
Instead of confronting him directly, I decided to go for a more friendly approach to get on better terms with him…
"That's the wrong question to ask, isn't it…?"
"...Then, what is your name?"
He shrugged. "Muh names Ethan Crow. Getting serious now, I've got some questions now if you got the time."
"Sure, when I am away from them, I have time."
"Alright. First, do you know of any suspicious activity going on in this fine village?"
"Suspicious activity? Well, the only thing out of the ordinary happening is a new kid entering the village, I think she's an orphan, never seen her with her parents as of yet, and neither have I heard her speak a lot before."
"Yeah, I think I've seen her. She's the one bringing a cute little cuttle puffer around with her isn't she?"
"Yes, she did recently. That's all I have for you…"
" Oh yeah, those little lights on the trees have started to fade a little bit after her arrival. I never go around that part of the village that much, though."
"That does seem suspicious, though I'm sure it's just a coincidence. After all she's just a child, what bad could she possibly do. Anyway, I best be off to investigate a bit more. Before I go though, what's your name my good sir?"
"My name is Toby, nice to meet you, and good luck with your… 'Investigations'. Look for me again if you need help."
"Okay, and good luck to you in fighting against the troglodytes, you're gonna need it."
(A/N : The different writing style for this POV, is because there is also a new person helping with this. Including the new character, he'll also help with grammar and vocabulary. This was only the introduction!)
After getting the goods I decided to walk out to the forest and check out those lights that Toby was talking about. Thinking on it, I should've asked what these lights are all about. Eh, I'll ask later. When I got there I saw that there were indeed lights. They were shining less bright than your average light but other than that they just looked like lights. I really do need to figure out what these things are all about. After getting a good look at all of the lights I decided I'd rung out all the info I possibly could for now and headed back to the manor.
I ran my fingers across the spines of the books as I walked by. The dust coating on a few of them were minimal, but still noticeable. I couldn't help but blow on them so the dust would be sent flying. Ah, the simple things in life. If only the loli would stop glaring at me. I sighed, "Beatrice, I'm trying to have a simple yet enlightening moment here and you're making it kind of hard." She scoffed, "The only thing simple here is a rude and arrogant man, I suppose." "Come on, I'm not that bad. You're the one who continues to beat down on my self-esteem. No wait, that's Ram." I walked around and leaned against the shelf closest to the chair that the mini shut-in was sitting in. "That aside, I need help in something." Pulling a book down, I flipped through the pages and coughed as some dust ended up flying up my nose. I sighed, my fingers trembled as I looked off to the side. Why didn't this cross my mind earlier? I'm so stupid. "Beatrice, I have something to tell you. I don't feel confident enough to tell Emilia and I don't trust Rem or Ram. So... up until this moment, I've di-"
My voice seized in my throat as a darkness enveloped my body. I could feel a sudden shift in temperature. The dust falling to the ground stopped as a clawed hand slithered out of the darkness. I watched helplessly as it pierced my skin and entered my chest. I couldn't feel anything. It grasped my heart in my hand as I could do nothing but endure it. I collapsed onto the ground as I could feel the fear of what it could've done. I can't... I can't breath. Why can't I breath? Why do I... Still feel the fear if it isn't there anymore? I could feel each bead of sweat dripping down my face as I was vaguely aware of the small presence staring directly at me. I shook my head, before stumbling back to my feet.
"What is it I suppose? It must be important if you had such violent of reaction to the thought of telling someone." She wrinkled her nose, "The smell got stronger, in fact." I looked at the door, before smiling, "I'm fine. I should...go." I planted my hand on the doorknob. "Thanks for your time." I pulled the door open and walked out. What smell did she mean? Did I forget to take a shower?
I walked back into the mansion, having absorbed all the juicy, delectable info I could. I traversed the mansion, checking out all the places I hadn't yet. I eventually found Kenneth conversing with Emilia. Rem temporarily seemed to glare at Kenneth, but left. I walked over and inserted myself into their conversation. "I'm serious Anime Girl, how many times would it take?" Kenneth seemed to really have the topic on hand being very important. "At least 90 hits. Like I've been saying." "No way it would be at most 3. You saw how big that attack was right? Reinhard could easily cook a chicken by slapping it if only for a nanosecond." " Wait, why are we slapping the cock?" Kenneth looked at me seriously, "You uh, you don't wanna know." He looked more serious afterward, "I need to talk to you about something. Alone preferably." "Mmmm, yes." Kenneth smirked, "To the Man-Cave!"
(One batman sound effect later)
We blasted through the door back into the depths of the Man Kayv. I looked to Kenneth's for his wise words of wisdom. "Did your search yield any results?" "Nothing about our possible killers, but I did learn something." Kenneth looked a bit distracted, "We can't talk about our deaths to anyone but ourselves. My heart was being crushed and it hurt, obviously. But Time froze. TIME FROZE! I didn't even hear a 'Za Warudo!' There is obviously something going on about this power we have."
"Oh no. Definitely a missed opportunity for the jojo reference. Anyway, onto my end of the search. I couldn't find much in the way of who dominated us. The only things I could get my slippers on was that the little kiddie with the dog came in recently and is probably an orphan and that there are lights on the trees and they happened to dim when the girl and her cuddle pusher asserted theirs dominos. I didn't find out what those lights do exactly though, probably should have asked." Kenneth thought for a moment, "Nothing about that seems important enough for a full-blown investigation into it. But let's keep it locked in our memories for now. I think we should do a more thorough investigation of our powers. Before we continue on with investigating our mysterious deaths." I shook my hand. "Yes, yes. Indeed, indeed." Kenneth thought for a moment, "Maybe there is some sort of loophole we can exploit in terms of our "power". You know so we can tell people about it or something like that." "NO!" Kenneth looked surprised, "What? Okay then what should we do?" "Yes." Kenneth sighed, "That doesn't give me any more information. You know what we'll have to take another day to investigate before we come to a decision. That's a drag."
