Chapter One

Roxanne Nymphadora Lyra Weasley smiled as she stared out at the passing trees and mountains. This was to be her last trip aboard the Hogwarts express, there was a shiny badge affixed to her Ravenclaw uniform. It stated that she would be the Quidditch Captain for the Ravenclaw team this year, she was looking forward to thoroughly trouncing her brother. She loved Fred dearly, but he needed to be taken down a peg or two, or ten, before the end of this year and the close of their childhood.

He was no doubt sulking in some compartment, as the rest of what was left of their generation attempted to sooth his wounded pride. Boys she smiled at the thought, for them life was so easy in a way, not like it was for her. "Pardon me Miss, it seems you are alone this morning." A boy stood in the doorway and she considered if she knew him, he seemed a few years younger than her. His face did not seem familiar and she doubted if she had ever spoke to him before.

"I am indeed, injured pride is a strange thing, it divides twins from one another even. What is your name and what is your family name?" She asked and his eyes widened.

"I didn't mean any offense." He said staring at his shoes, he was wearing Hufflepuff robes. "Only my mates dared me to approach you."

"Indeed, so this was a dare? I don't like my time wasted with trivial things, such as dares. I may be a Weasley, but I also grew up over the shop, if you will recall. I had to deal with constant pranks and mischief and one grows tired of that after a time. Do not forget who you are addressing boy, how old are you?"

"Fifteen Madam Weasley." He said blushing bright red.

"I see and others of your house dared you to do this, were they of the same year?"

"No Madam." He said and she smiled then, it was not a particularly kind smile, it was a crafty smile. The boy shuddered at her smile, she was well known as the reigning Queen of pranks a title that she and her brother passed amongst themselves and their friends. If they could outdo her in mischief, then they would receive the other pin, that was affixed to her hat. She stood, she liked the way these robes fit, the flow of the skirts and cape. They were Victorian era Ravenclaw robes, remade of course, she had no desire to wear hand me downs.

She had left an open letter in the daily profit asking for various styles throughout the Hogwarts years, as far back as anyone could recall. The bodice on this one was easier to breath in then the others, her ample breasts felt comfortable within it, much more than the button-down shirts that she had worn before. She smiled, she liked how her shirt was neatly tucked into her pants and the corset went over it. Though admittedly putting it on herself had taken some practice. She grabbed her things and moved with the walk of a woman who knew well her own femininity.

She saw the eyes as they stared at her, passing by and smiled, this year would be a wonderful one. It would be one to remember and to cherish, maybe she would make some new friends or forge new alliances. She smiled at the thought of it, the future and everything that would come to pass, she was hopefully optimistic when she thought of the future.

She walked down the corridor with the boy, for he really was just a boy until she came to the compartment. Seven other boys stared at her slack jawed and she laughed. "Well you did dare him didn't you, for shame Colin Creevy I thought your father taught you better than to interrupt a lady while she's reading." She said and the boy blushed scarlet, they had of course been in diapers together. They were in fact way too close for her to consider him anything other than a friend. "Why did you dare this poor young man, to enter my nest, badger brain." She asked and she saw Colin's face turn bright red, of course she could come up with better insults now but it had been what she had called him when they were young. It was simply an old joke, but Colin may not see it that way, as he had been witnessing to the pranks her family pulled on each other and their friends.

"I like your new uniform, it is very flattering." Colin said and she smiled.

"Thank you Colin, I like it as well, the skirts might be a bit cumbersome but it's not like I don't have a standard uniform as well, this is for the days when I feel a bit more...Frisky one might say, I know how eyes follow me when I wear this, maybe if I were to be truly bold, I'd wear a skirt that was above the regulated length for Hogwarts girls." She said and she saw how the boys reacted to that statement, how they colored bright red, readjusting in their seats. Yes she knew precisely what she was doing and she liked tormenting them a bit. "Now that you have had your fun, know that I never forget when someone prevents me from having some time to myself. Do you have any idea of how hard it is to get some time alone in my family? Between my family and friends the company is constant and somewhat tiring."

"Constant company?" Colin asked and she smiled, Colin had no siblings of his own.

"Ever constant and well we aren't exactly the quietist of families."

"Would you consider a Hal-"

"Do you really wish to finish that sentence, remember on my mother's side I'm related to the Bones and Greengrass families. I must make a match that is proper for my station in life, but I find I cannot stand the notion of purity." She said. "Good day." She then pointedly turned her back on them, she felt her temper rise and cast a few mild hexes behind her back. They took effect instantly as the boys screamed and she laughed. Really all it was, was a simple stinging hex, with a bit of boils thrown in but they didn't know that.

"What did you do?" Fred demanded stepping out of his compartment and she laughed again.

"Hello brother dear, some badgers thought it would be funny to interrupt me, while I was watching the hills pass by." She said and smiled. "You know how I don't like it when I'm thinking of things and someone intrudes upon those thoughts." She said and he laughed.

"Stinging hexes and boils?" He asked and she nodded.

"Stinging hexes and boils, I thought that it was appropriate, considering Colin was asking about whether or not I would consider his hand." She said and she saw the fury in her brother's eyes, Freddy was way too protective of his five-minute younger sister.

"They had better phrase it correctly."

"He had no time to phrase it at all, you will be my companion of course, through this year's pool of suitors. I mean to state, it is not as though we don't love swimming, even if it might be among snakes." She said and he laughed, they had many codes and although she was considering matches, she had to find one that would best help her family. Then of course there was the matter of finding true love and she wanted that very much for herself.

"Oh snakes indeed, I suppose you will be chasing after vipers?" He asked, asking her if she would try to find suitors in those families who had once sided with Voldemort.

"Well a viper without any teeth, would be a bit less disturbing, than one with its fangs still in its mouth. Of course the Ravenclaw girls have rallied behind me and are hoping that I will help them find suitable matches as well. Although if I have to hear about the charms of my brother one more time..." She pulled at her hair rather theatrically and he laughed, before ruffling her hair with his fingers. "Not the hair, or I'll come after yours as well, scallywag." She said and he laughed, running down the corridor, she chased after him. "Do I need to make sure you brushed it properly!" She called and his hair was sticking out at odd angles.

"Catch me if you can little sister!"

"Your impossible prince of pranks, come back here or I'll do a styling charm on you!" She yelled and hitched up her skirts, running after him.

"What in the name of Morgana is going on, can't you tell people are trying to sleep?" Silas Knott demanded, emerging from his compartment and staring at her in wide eyed shock.

"Well, he insulted my honor! I must ensure that everyone knows that I am a lady of virtue and purity." She said and ran after her brother. "You can't dock points until we reach the castle, big head boy." She teased and ran after her brother, balancing charms keeping her from falling.

"Bloody hell." She heard Silas murmur behind her and she laughed, flashing a bit more leg than was considered to be appropriate, by even the standards of the modern era.

"Lass, what are ye doing?" Tomas Johnson asked and she laughed.

"Having a grand time Tommy, it is our last year of school and I am looking forward to graduating, it will be a very fine year indeed." She said and smiled at him, he stared at her in response, as she ran after her brother. Several children laughed, thinking that this was some game that the Weasley twins were playing. She caught up to him and tackled him pulling out a hair brush and working it through his hair, he knew enough to not stop her from brushing his unmanageable hair. Then she worked several spells in quick succession, one to braid his hair back in a traditional battle warlock knot and another to clean him from head to toe. Neither spell was particularly comfortable, but he had forgotten to take a shower for several days.

"Really Annie?" He asked and she laughed, he only called her Annie when he was displeased.

"Yes Freddy, really, you need to keep up appearances, I can't have you stinking like a cave troll." She said and he stared at her in shock, his mouth hanging open and closing.

"Really? Your worried about my appearance, if you don't know there are other things that I need to worry about." He said and she laughed, kissing him on the forehead.

"Everything will be fine, no one is mad enough to start up petty feuds again, not after Albus and that whole fiasco. You have our telecom spell don't you and know anytime you would wish to make a call, you can, day or night. You have the codes don't you?"

"Of course, so glad Father could figure it out, what with this being our last year and everything." He said and she smiled, she then walked away from him. She loved her brother dearly, but he could be very annoying at times. Well she supposed she should visit young Lord Knott and apologize for disturbing his rest. Of course he had sent a letter, which she had deemed not too objectionable, the ones she liked least she had burned and sent Howlers.

Her father of course had approved of the whole affair and had given her some rather creative suggestions as to what to say. She knocked on the door to Silas' compartment, he had never been particularly cruel to her, nor particularly kind. They had worked together when forced to do so by their instructors, fostering as their teachers had put it House Unity. She thought it was a very dumb thing, as a Ravenclaw, to be forced to work with the boy that had been her brother's greatest rival.

"Hello Silas." She said and he stared at her, the others in his compartment staring as well. "I apologize if I interrupted your sleep."

"It wasn't me who was sleeping." He said but the drool on the side of his face and his blush told her otherwise.

"Late night?" She asked and smiled. "My Mum had to make her secret tonic for me, so I could sleep. Of course it contained a bit more than a wee dram of fire whiskey."

"You drink fire whiskey?" He asked and she laughed.

"My Father's family comes from the lowlands and my mother's family from the highlands, don't you know we have red hair? It's fairly obvious when you think on it, of course I have demanded that all my kin wear the family tartan when I go courting this year."

"You have a family tartan? Then why do you never wear it?"

"Well it's a bit tricky getting my nearest and dearest to wear kilts, the boys in particular do protest. You seem to be in a rare mood today, one might call you a bit too moody and a bit too invested in family affairs." She said and he stared at her, his mouth hanging open and shut. "If you would wish to climb the vines of my manor, I believe you wrote the wrong lass." She said and he blushed scarlet as several of his mates laughed at him. "Although I found yours to be the least objectionable of the missives I received from your friends. Yours seemed like prose in comparison to the letters I received from others, however."

"You sent me a howler, why?" Bodrick Zambini asked and she arched an eyebrow, he stared at her and put his head in his hands.

"Never ever are you to ever address another woman in the manner you addressed me Bodrick Zambini, it was insulting and reading between the lines, I could clearly see that you questioned my honor. Our skin may be of a similar color, but do you think me muggleborn?" She asked and he stared at her in shock. "Yes my skin is the color of moonlit nights, but it was your other words to me that merited such a response. You cannot question a lady's pedigree at the same time as complementing her on her skin color. It is highly inappropriate, not to mention how you treated my brother when you were younger." She said and he stared at her in shock. "I'm half tempted to curse you for your words to me, suffice it to say I would rather marry off my brother to Delphi Diggory than consider your offer." She said and everyone in the compartment paled, she smiled, it was not a kind smile. "As for the rest of you, I may consider your offers, if you will be kinder to me the next time you think to write, or to speak with me." She added and saw that they were all sitting down. "For now I think you have earned some pranks." She said and cast a sleeping hex over the entire compartment, they started snoring at once and she laughed.

"Really Weasley, a bit immature." Someone said from another compartment and she left the compartment, sticking her tongue out at him.

"It's not like I can't wake them once the train comes into the station, but I have better things to do than babysit sleeping Slytherins." She said and she heard laughter, it was not kind laughter, it was the laughter of her brother plotting. "Now don't go too hard on them Freddy dear, remember that Silas can take points this year and award detentions."

"What spell did you use?" A sixth year Slytherin asked wide eyed.

"Not one that you will be able to counter, unless you have brushed up on sixteenth century curses, hexes, jinxes and healing magic." She said and the boy's eyes widened.

"Sixteenth century spells? How do you know sixteenth century spells?"

"Well when Hugo Weasley calls you the greatest bookworm of your generation, it means a certain thing." She said and winked at the boy, who stared at her, fear in his eyes. "That is why you never question a lady's honor." She said flatly and smiled, she would let her brother have his fun but she knew how to reverse every spell. "Shall we do this together for old times' sake Freddy?"

"Yes!" Freddy said and they went into the compartment together, they were only pranks, meant to not harm after all. Of course the two who had been most insulting received the worst of it, but the others she made her brother go easy on relatively speaking. When they were done both laughed, it would be great fun when they awoke to discover what the Weasley twins had come up with this time.

"Twins to the end." She said and smiled at her brother, who smiled in return.

"In my twin I have no finer friend." He replied and they did the handshake they had come up with when they had been five.

"Do the finger jive!" She said and he laughed, Hermione had come up with that one.

"High five!" Her brother said and she slapped his hand.

"Swish and flick, but do it quick." She said and they did the wand movement for wingardium leviosa with their fingers, to her considerable surprise he levitated.

"Bloody hell! Get me down!" He said and she laughed canceling the spell with another wave of her hand. "Nonverbal magic! NON-VERBAL MAGIC, YOU CAN-DO NON-VERBAL SPELLS?" He demanded his eyes wide, before he fainted. Well that secret was out of the bag, she sighed and set him on a spare bit of couch.

No one approached and she smiled at her brother, he'd never fainted before, it would be a while before she let him live it down. She levitated on of the Slytherins on to the floor, before setting her brother's head in her lap. He would never let her stroke his hair, but he wasn't awake now. She cast a sleeping spell on him, which was good for when people fainted, he had to be brought out of unconsciousness gently. She then cast a shield charm over herself and him, before undoing some of the meaner spells and waking the Slytherins, the boys stared at her and her brother, before staring at each other and yelling and screaming. Several spells were fired and bounced off of her shield, they hit them. "It's called a rubber shield, I'm rubber so whatever you throw at me gets thrown back at you."

"WHAT THE BLOODY HELL WEASLEY, WHEN WE GET TO HOGWARTS, YOU'LL GET DETENTION FOR A MONTH AND A HUNDRED AND FIFTY POINTS FROM RAVENCLAW AND SLYTHERIN." Silas said and she laughed.

"WORTH IT TO SEE THE LOOK ON YOUR FACE AND KNOW WHO YOU ARE DEALING WITH KNOTT." She replied and he stared at her in shock.

"WHY? WHY DO THIS?" He demanded. "BODRICK'S FACE! HE CAN'T EVEN SPEAK."

"YES BUT YOUR SPEAKING, KNOW WHAT I CAN DO AND KNOW HOW YOU SHOULD ADDRESS ME. THESE ARE THE MILDER SPELLS I KNOW, I WOULD CONSIDER MYSELF TO BE A GREY LADY AT THIS POINT AND KNOW WHAT THAT MEANS." She said simply and they stared at her in shocked surprise, the ways of Grey wizards and witches had faded into myth and legend. They were also known as hedge witches and wizards within fourteenth and fifteenth century. She cast the strongest curse canceling charm she knew and instantly the spells were countered.

All five boys promptly fainted and she laughed, as her twin woke up. "What did you do Roxie?" He mumbled.

"Nothing Dad wouldn't we'll be at Hogwarts soon, then I suppose I will have to face the ire of our Professors and receive several howlers." She said and he laughed.

"Never change little sister, promise me you'll never change." He said and she nodded.

"I'm a good witch brother, a very good witch indeed, do you remember those funny books that Auntie Hermione used to give us?"

"They were funny, how muggles see wizards, I remember laughing really hard at some of them."

"Do you know that there are other stories, stories that would make your ears turn red?" She asked and he shook his head.

"Really? Muggles write books like that, what sort of books?"

"You are too innocent for such literature if you ask what sort of books, suffice it to say me and my housemates read them under the covers late at night. We don't judge one another for getting hot and bothered during the more...shall we say steamy moments."

"You keep a collection of naughty books and you haven't shared it with me?" He asked and she laughed.

"I know what sort of magazines you like, but I don't want to see your playboys." She said and he blushed. "Well you know what you like and I know what I like, I'm going to muggle London a few days a week, picking up new books and some of my old favorites and taking orders. It's kind of an import export side business, before I actually have to consider what I want to do with my life."

"You minx, you are giving pornographic books to chaste Ravenclaw girls." He said and she laughed.

"Yes, that I am, I think my year is rapidly becoming the most informed girls in school, when it comes to the finer things." She said and winked. "They of course are very interested in you, so I'd write some letters of my own brother dear. Remember that it is up to you to start courting who you choose to court, but if you break the hearts of my friends, it will reflect poorly upon me." She said and stood, walking from the compartment, returning to where her things sat undisturbed.

She pulled out a book and started to read, it was getting to a good part in the story...Then of course the train stopped and she sighed, setting down her book. She brushed out her skirts, before she stood. Her friends smiled at her and waved cheerfully, they had all gone with the style of school uniform they liked best. She laughed at young Maddie Bates, who wore something that would turn heads indeed.

"Now what might you be wearing Maddie?" She asked and smiled at her, the bloomers paired beautifully with a skirt that came only to Maddie's mid-thigh, it was two inches short of regulation.

"I like it, I like the way everyone stares at my bum." She said and Roxie laughed putting an arm around her friend, Maddie was a muggle born.

"You will certainly catch the eyes of some wizards wearing that and quite possibly some witches, I'm glad that you decided to wear bloomers at least." She said and the other girls all laughed.

"What's with the tartan? Did people in Ravenclaw house really wear that?" Maddie asked adjusting her glasses, to take a closer look.

"Yes a hundred and fifty years ago, I liked this one best, doesn't mean we can't exchange clothes, sizing things is fairly simple." She said and smiled at her friends. "I learned tailoring spells, so it's pretty easy for me to size something, if you pay me what I spent on it." She said.

"We will be the most envied girls in school!" Lotus Patil said and Maddie beamed.

"Yes, but we will go on one another's dates, if we find that things are going well." She said and all the girls laughed, they locked arms together and strolled from the train. She smiled as they walked to the carriage. "Forgive me I got into a little bit of mischief pulled some pranks on some Slytherin boys who deserved it, we are going to start the year with one hundred and fifty points docked."

"Was it worth it?" Maddie asked and she nodded.

"Oh yes, utterly and completely, they will think twice about how they speak to any girl." She said and they smiled, sitting down in the carriage, she closed her eyes letting herself rest for a little bit, before the chaos of the sorting.
