Thunder roared constantly outside the window of the Davies residence. Though it was only mid-evening, the surroundings looked like night as the sky and everything beneath it had darkened and was being pounded with rainfall. Whistling winds blew against the trees, sending stray limbs flying to the ground. The only light that could be seen were the street lights that had kicked on and the frequent lightning flashes and strikes.
The two girls had been sitting on the couch "watching" a movie. Ashley had found herself more focused on Spencer who was resting her head on her shoulder as she played with their joined hands. The strawberry scented hair of the blonde was taking its effect on Ashley, wanting to completely screw the movie and kiss her newfound girlfriend. The brunette started to make her move but was far too late when the entire house went black.
"Wha … what?" Spencer spoke confused just before another loud crash of thunder sounded from outside. Ashley shrieked in pain as Spencer clung to her, burying her nails into the brunette's shoulders.
"Spence, it's just a power outage, sweetie," Ashley offered, trying to calm the younger girl down somewhat. "It'll all be back on in a few hoursss… ouch!" Ashley let out another cry as Spencer grasped her hard again after hearing lightning strike nearby. "Whoa, are you scared of storms, hun?"
She could barely see the girl before her, but she could tell her face had been stricken with embarrassment. Giving her a warm smile, she pulled Spencer deeper into her body. "Don't worry, a lot of people are Spence, and like me… I'm freakin' terrified of clowns."
Spencer's face had turned back to its normal color as she looked up at Ashley, "Clowns?"
"Long story, if you'd been there you'd be terrified too," Ashley smiled, proud of herself for making the startled Spencer laugh. "You can't trust those guys." Spencer's smile faded as a roar of thunder made the room slightly shake. Ashley just giggled and reached down to take her girlfriend's hand in her own. "C'mon, we'll go lay down in my room and it'll be over before y'know it."
Ashley lay down, making room for Spencer to fit cozily into her arms. The blonde snuggled in close, as her girlfriend protectively closed her arms around her. For every time the storm startled Spencer, Ashley would tenderly kiss her neck until she stopped shaking. The thunder and lightning would continue for the next several minutes but Spencer never stirred. After that night, the blonde knew she was cured of her fear of storms, but she wouldn't be telling Ashley that. Spencer happily looked forward to the next time the power would be going out.
