Title: Laughter
Disclaimer: I do not own Jared or Jensen. If I did you would never see them again.
Summary: Laughter and darkness, not a good combination. Not a good summary.
The sound of laughter floated through the air. He turned around, startled by the sudden noise. The laugh continued, and he recognized it as his brother's rare yet rich laughter. He followed the sound, hoping to reach its owner, but it stopped and the surrounding area became eerily silent. He stood, waiting for something, anything, to happen. The world remained quiet and began to darken. His eyes widened, suddenly panicked at the thought of darkness, and he ran. There were no trees or bushes to block his path. No houses, no cars or people, there only seemed to be darkness. He ran faster, frightened by this new revelation. The laughter started again and he paused, almost tripping over himself, in his haste to stop and listen. He looked around wildly, hoping for some glimpse of...anything. He turned, then sprinted, the laughing seemed to get louder as he went. Suddenly things became clearer, the sky lightened and trees appeared. He pushed his way through to a clearing. The laughter had stopped. The sight made his breath hitch. He had found his brother. Dead. Bloody and beaten. He let out a cry, shouting his brother's name, and fell to his knees.
Sam sat straight up in bed, awaken by the shaking he was receiving. He looked to see Dean's concerned face and relaxed. 'Just a dream. Just a dream.' Sam thought. He gave his brother a small smile and answered the unasked question.
"I'm fine, Dean." The older Winchester nodded, looking unconvinced, but didn't ask any questions. He went back to his bed and laid down on his back. Sam let out a breath, glad his brother didn't question him. He slipped back into his sleeping position and fell into a fitful sleep, dreaming once more of his beloved brother's death. Dean turned his head to look at Sam and sighed.
"Why won't you tell me you've been dreaming of my death, Sammy?" He shook his head softly and fell asleep.
