Author's Note: Now that I started posting, I just want to keep going. So I'm alternating writing and posting between stories. I still have additional chapters written for this story. This chapter and the next one I found needed written bring pieces of the story together. Happy Reading!

The Next Day
Self-Defense Studio – Kellie's Office

"Hi Uncle Lo," Kellie said as Lorenzo walked into the office. Kellie was at the punching bag she'd had put in for her use only. She was doing a series of roundhouse kicks. Lorenzo waited for her to stop, take the gloves off, and drink from her water bottle.

"So given recent events," Lorenzo said, leaning against the edge of the desk, "I'm going to guess you didn't ask to see me for a social visit."

"I wish," Kellie said.

"I'm sorry that you had to worry about Jason and Danny like that," Lorenzo said.

"I needed to know," Kellie said, "And Charles was in there too."

"How is he?" Lorenzo said.

"If they get pain under control," Kellie said, "He can probably be released tonight or tomorrow. I'm thinking we can set him up down stairs until he can manage on his own better."

"Did he agree to that?" Lorenzo asked.

"Not yet," Kellie said, "But he'll need monitoring or help at least at first. Sage and Milo's place would be better laid out. But Sage just went back to work since she gave birth to Miles."

"I'm sure you'll work it out," Lorenzo said as Sam entered the office. She came with in coffee for all three of them.

"Hi Dad," Sam said, handing him and Kellie coffee.

"This is a surprise," Lorenzo said, taking the coffee and sipping it.

"Sam's been volunteering with the foundation," Kellie said, "I figured she should be here for our discussion."

"What's going on?" Sam asked.

"Cyrus wants to become a major donor at the foundation," Lorenzo said.

"I hope you're telling him to take his money elsewhere," Sam replied.

"Already done," Kellie said, "Considering he's got control of GH….."

"It makes you wonder what he has in mind for the foundation," Sam replied.

"Since you're a volunteer I thought you should be up to speed on the situation," Kellie said.

"Before we discuss that specifically," Lorenzo said, "Have you heard any more about the explosion at the Floating Rib yet?"

"The working theory is its intentional," Kellie said.

"If Renault was behind the explosion, I want to know," Lorenzo replied, "Unfortunately, Renault's desire to take over the entire town, Sonny and Jason's territory, the hospital, the foundation, and anything else legal he can means he's blurring the lines."

"Sam, the blurred lines here," Kellie said, "Are you going to be okay with that? You and Drew got out to protect your family. And volunteering for the foundation could end up with you in the line of fire if Cyrus doesn't take no for an answer."

"We'd understand if you felt it was best to back away from volunteering with the foundation," Lorenzo said, "Focus on Danny and Scout, investigating Drew's disappearance."

"Not much I can do at this point about Drew's plan going down," Sam said, "We've followed every lead we can find and Obrecht's in jail for it. As for blurred lines, I spent hours yesterday wondering if my son died in that explosion. If Cyrus was behind it, I want him to pay. I'll do whatever I can to help."

"Are you sure?" Lorenzo asked. Sam nodded.

"How are we coming on the background checks, Uncle Lo?" Kellie asked.

"Looks like we weeded out the false ones," Lorenzo said, "So that system is working. We've identified everyone hired in the last year. A few notable ones to keep an eye on."

"We need someone we can trust to check on the areas where Cyrus could use someone to distribute his product," Kellie said, "That's where you come in, Sam. Since you're already volunteering with sorting and delivering items that people might needs."

"I'll keep an eye out for anything that looks unusual," Sam said, "Curtis and I could take a second look at those background checks."

"That would be helpful," Lorenzo said.

"If you and Curtis want to see what else you can find on Renault," Kellie said, "Go for it. And if Curtis gets the urge to do some volunteer work…"

"I'll bring him with me," Sam said.

"What about Dante?" Lorenzo asked, "If he's looking for something to do."

"I can ask," Kellie said, "But Lulu was hurt pretty bad in the explosion last night. She'll be fine, but Dante might be tied up taking care of her and Rocco."

"Ask when you think the time is right," Lorenzo said.

"If we still need more help," Kellie said, "Has there been any more push back from the board about not accepting the donation?"

"So far none," Lorenzo said, "They're happier to heed our advice after what happened with Garrett and Calvin and Shiloh. At least until Renault decides to try to black mail some one."

"Or pay them to take the money in exchange for influence," Kellie said.

Without warning, Sam slammed her hand on the table. She almost dropped her coffee, "First Drew's gone. Then it was almost Danny last night, no thanks to Cyrus. What's it going to take to stop Renault? Does he really think we're going to buy the fake redemption act?"

"Well with all the enemies Cyrus is making himself," Kellie said, hugging Sam, "It's only a matter of time before he screws up."

"But what's the cost in the meantime going to be?" Sam asked.

"I don't know," Kellie said, "Just focus on the pieces you can. Be careful. Let me know what you find. I'll work out what needs to happen from there. If you need back up, call me. I'd go in first myself."

"But if you start nosing around, people will clam up," Sam said, "It's the smart move. You know it. I have a feeling you probably have other avenues to check."

"Yeah," Kellie said, "I'm going to see what my non-foundation contacts can tell me about Renault."

"Now I'm going to tell you to be careful, Kellie," Lorenzo said.

"There's a good chance Renault could get tipped off with his connections," Kellie said, "He's putting innocents at risk, I can't just do nothing."

"There are times ending this with a discreet call…" Lorenzo said, "Would probably save us all a lot of trouble."

"Dad," Sam exclaimed.

"Uncle Lo's not wrong," Kellie said, "Speaking of former crime bosses. What did Julian Jerome want last night? He seemed insistent to talk to you."

"He better not have been using you to try to get back my wife back," Lorenzo replied.

"I don't know," Sam said, "He seemed like he had something he wanted to get off his chest then Jason showed up and he left…You don't think he had something to do with the explosion."

"As much as I hate to give Jerome credit for anything," Lorenzo said, "That's not exactly his calling card."

"Unless he's being blackmailed," Kellie said.

"That would do it," Sam said, "When he and mom were together, the things his sister coerced him into."

"You wouldn't happen to know what Cyrus could be holding over his head," Lorenzo asked.

"He knew about Nelle and Brad switching babies," Kellie replied.

"Of course he did," Sam rolled her eyes.

"Anyway, he's gone underground," Kellie said, "No one's seen him."

"We just need to get him to turn on Cyrus," Lorenzo said.

"And that is not our concern," Kellie said, "But Jason was planning to look for him."

Sam's phone rang.

"I have to take this," Sam said, looking at the screen, "I'll be in touch when I find out something."

Sam answered the phone and waved at Kellie and Lorenzo as she left the office before they could respond.

"What is it, Uncle Lo?" Kellie asked.

"There's no good way to bring this up," Lorenzo said, "But I'm worried about you. You're Jason's wife and there's a mob war erupting as we speak."

"A mob war I'm already in the middle of just by being Sonny's daughter," Kellie said, "It's nothing we haven't been through before. Back when we first found out we were related, it never bothered you like it does now that I'd jump into the fight. Hell, you backed me taking over for Sonny years ago."

"That was before you left town, holed up in South America, and proceeded to have a mental break down," Lorenzo said.

"I'm not the same girl I was then, Uncle Lo," Kellie said, "I hadn't dealt with my demons and I've been through worse hells. If I was going to break, I would have broke after Tyler died and when my own enemies terrorized my family."

"If you and the kids need out of Port Charles," Lorenzo said, "We can make it happen. There's options besides ending up in the crossfire of this. If it gets to be too much."

"I know," Kellie said, "But I think I can handle your basic mob war."
