Author's Note: In this universe Lorenzo and Alexis are married. Alexis doesn't start drinking again. So she didn't attempt to kill Franco and almost kill Dante in the process. We'll go with some random stranger attempted to kill Franco instead and hit Dante as Peter still would have written an article about his tumor. As far as Shawn Butler goes, I'm going to say he left Port Charles after being cleared of Hayden's shooting at the time it happened instead of pleading guilty and going to prison. I'm going to say that Nik has still gotten away with Hayden's shooting up at this point since that's what's currently being written on the show. This chapter is Sonny's funeral, I'm not going to rewrite exactly what was on the show, but unless it obviously looks different, the speeches, events were the same. This is more Kellie's point of view or experience. Yes, Nina did still confront Jax and Carly about Nelle being her daughter and Carly being there when Nelle fell off the cliff, but I'm just not mentioning it here.

Sonny's Funeral

Kellie arrived with Jason at the church.

"I'm going to check with the priest about some things," Jason said.

"If you need anything from me," Kellie said, "Let me know."

Kellie found Sam and Kristina first.

"Where's Jason?" Kristina asked.

"Finalizing funeral arrangements," Kellie said.

"This just doesn't seem real," Kristina said.

"I know," Kellie said, hugging Kristina.

"How are you holding up?" Sam asked.

"One step at a time," Kellie said, "I wish today wasn't…"

"At least you and Dad got to a better place," Kristina said, "I'm sure given the right situation to two of you would still have an explosive fight."

"We've come a long way from me trying to get out of Port Charles without him finding out I was his daughter," Kellie said, "And having the bouncers throw him out of Jake's."

"Was that your first meeting with Sonny? Having him thrown out of Jake's?" Sam asked.

"Oh yeah," Kellie said, "He showed up to tell me to leave Port Charles and take the trouble he thought I was bringing elsewhere. I was working. He was bothering me, so I had the bouncer escort him out."

"Dad must have been livid," Kristina said.

"He still got some of what he wanted," Kellie said, "A distraction so Jason could search my stuff for clues as to who I was and why I was in Port Charles. Though he didn't find anything."

"I'd say it was a draw then," Lorenzo said, approaching them with Alexis.

Kristina and Sam turned their attention to Alexis, leaving Kellie and Lorenzo to themselves.

"I'm sorry that you have to go through this," Lorenzo said, "Sonny and I were never each other's favorite people, but I'd still hoped you wouldn't have to go through losing him like this for a long time. He was still your father, no matter how complicated your relationship with him was."

"Thanks for never asking me to choose between the two of you, Uncle Lo," Kellie said.

"Even when you and Sonny were on the outs," Lorenzo said, "I knew someday you might want to work things out with him. I wasn't going to be the one to hold you back from that if that was what you needed or wanted."

"I'm sorry to interrupt," Olivia said, "But Jason asked me to find you, Kellie. He wanted to talk to you before the service. He's in the vestry."

Kellie hugged Lorenzo, "You're coming to the reception afterwards?"

"I'll be there," Lorenzo said.

"It's this way," Olivia said, "So are you taking care of yourself? I know it's been kind of crazy for you and Jason with Sonny gone and everything that probably entails."

"I'll get there," Kellie said, "I'm doing what I can. Making sure everyone's safe is priority though right now."

"Monday, once the kids are in school, bring Kelsey to the MetroCourt," Olivia said, "I'll watch her while you use the spa, use a room to relax and decompress, and then we'll have lunch."

"Olivia," Kellie started to protest.

"Do not argue with me, young lady," Olivia said, "I know you. I will even bring some of my homemade macaroni and cheese to bribe you."

"Okay, Mom," Kellie smiled, "That is totally not fair bribing me homemade food I don't have to cook."

"I just need to know my baby girl is taking care of herself," Olivia said, as they approached the door to the vestry "I know it's not easy. He's in there."

Kellie entered the room to find Carly and Michael in there as well as Jason.

Jason wrapped his arms around Kellie, "We're about ready to start. Are you ready for this?"

"Yeah," Kellie replied, "I saw some of the families taking their seats and signing the guest book."

"Good," Jason said, "Any sign of Cyrus?"

"No," Kellie said, "I overhead Brando say Laura was keeping him occupied and away from here."

"Thank God," Carly said, "I don't think I could hold my tongue if Renault showed up."

Michael nodded as the Priest entered the room.

"We're ready to begin whenever you are," the priest said.

"Kellie and I will go first," Jason said, "Carly, you and Michael will follow."

Everyone took a deep breath as they lined up outside the sanctuary.

Kellie and Jason linked hands and looked at each other before making their way down the aisle. Carly and Michael followed. They all took their places in the pews. For Kellie, the service was a blur as her siblings, friends, and families spoke. After Dante spoke, Kellie got up to speak.

"I really don't have anything prepared," Kellie began, "It's not that I haven't tried. As many of you know, I didn't meet Sonny until I was an adult and our relationship was complicated. That's probably putting it mildly. We constantly butted heads. He wanted to make up for not being there for me as kid. But by that time I'd written off any family I might have had. If it wasn't for the fact I needed his help, which I was loathe to admit at first, I never would have stuck around or come back. Sonny was determined to reach out to me no matter how much I pushed back. While his methods may not have always been the right ones, I eventually learned, he did care. We learned to accept that we would probably always disagree about some thing, but as my sister reminded me earlier, Sonny and I came along way from where we started. Ultimately, he never gave up on me and that's what I'll remember the most about him. When I came back to Port Charles, we figured out how to peacefully co-exist most of the time. I'm glad I got the opportunity to get to know my dad in a way I hadn't been able to before. I'll miss him more than I realized I would."

By this time, Kellie's eyes were wet. She made her way back to the pew next to Jason. Jason and Carly spoke and the service ended. She, Jason, Carly, and Michael left the service first and stood outside the sanctuary as the attendees said their goodbyes and then expressed their condolences.

"I offer my sincerest condolences, Mr. and Mrs. Morgan," Vincent Novak said, "I am curious Mrs. Morgan, do you plan on taking an active role in your father's business?"

"I have no plans to do so," Kellie said.

"That's a shame," Nina Wu said, "My father recalled you as being formidable when you ran the organization. You and your husband working together might be beneficial for everyone."

"I'll take that as a compliment," Kellie said, "But I have other interests these days."

"We can hardly expect Mrs. Morgan to be on our side," Vincent said, "Her loyalties have been considered suspect."

"This is hardly the place to be discussing these matters," Jason said, glaring at Vincent.

"We're sorry for your loss," Nina Wu said before moving on, along with Vincent Novak.

"You okay," Jason whispered.

"Fine," Kellie said, "I'll be glad when this is over."

The Cemetery

Kellie watched as one by one friends families laid a rose on the grave. Kellie and Jason laid their roses on the grave. Kellie didn't linger long. Jason stood and followed Kellie off to the side.

"What's going on?" Jason asked.

"It's fine," Kellie said.

"No it's not," Jason said, sweeping Kellie's hair back.

"I guess I'm not ready to say goodbye," Kellie said, "It's not like I don't know that Dad's gone. I guess some part of me still hoped that maybe we'd still find him alive. But watching the casket be lowered even though his body's not there, it made it real. He's really gone."

Kellie kept trying not to full out cry.

"I know that you've busy taking care of the kids and the fallout of Sonny being gone," Jason said, "But no one expects you to hold it all together, especially here."

Kellie nodded as Jason pulled her against him, her tears falling.

Eventually only Carly, Michael, Kellie, and Jason were left.

"I'm going to go get the car," Michael said.

"Are you ready to go?" Jason asked Kellie.

"I think I need a moment," Kellie said, looking at Sonny's grave, "Without everyone watching."

"Of course," Carly said, hugging Kellie, "Your dad loved you same as your siblings. Don't you ever forget that."

Jason and Carly moved off to the side, leaving Kellie at Sonny's grave.

Kellie knelt by the grave.

"I always knew someday, I'd to say goodbye at your grave," Kellie said, "But I don't know. It just seems too soon. You had to go off and leave us without a body. Seems like it would be easier if there was a body. But then again maybe not. I'm sorry, we didn't get more time together. But I don't know that it could have been any other way between the two of us. The way we clashed heads and you did make some really stupid decisions about the guards and protection sometimes. Even at your grave, all I know how to do is pick a fight with you. I'm supposed to be saying goodbye and I can't."

"Then you say goodbye when you're ready," Jason said, putting his hand on her shoulder and kneeling down next to her, "As for picking a fight with him at his grave, somehow I think Sonny would appreciate the sentiment of it on some level."

"Jason, on some strange level I'm going to miss arguing with my dad," Kellie said, "You might not miss it, but it would mean he was still here."

"It's not strange at all," Jason said, "It was how you two showed you cared about each other. You wouldn't have argued if you didn't care."

"That's one way to look at it," Kellie said.
