General Hospital
Francis awkwardly grabbed for his gun and shot the nurse in the foot.
"Ow, ow, ow, you son of a bitch," the nurse yelped, losing his grip on Francis
Frances coldcocked the nurse, knocking him unconscious. He turned to the doctor to see him lunging at him. Then he saw a bed pan slap him across the side of the face, startling the doctor. The doctor stumbled and stabbed himself with the syringe.
As the doctor hit the floor, Frances saw Dev standing there.
"Thanks, kid," Frances said, picking up Kelsey with his free hand.
"I overheard the commotion while I was getting some paperwork for school," Dev said, "Consider me here to help."
"We've got to get out of the hospital," Frances said, handing Kelsey to Dev, "If I tell you to run, kid, you run."
Frances picked up his phone, kept his gun drawn, and headed for the door. He peeked out into the dark hallway.
Seeing the coast was clear and the expected activity of patients, nurses, and doctors reacting to the power going out, he stepped into the hall, and encouraged Dev to follow with Kelsey.
Francis tried to discreetly keep his gun drawn without attracting attention as they moved down the hallway.
"Francis, why do you have your gun drawn?" Liz whispered coming up behind them.
Francis put his free hand up making a shhh motion, peeking down the next hallway. He saw an out of place janitor pacing as if guarding the stairwell.
He moved back down the hall and made a motion to Liz to open the door to one of the rooms.
"It's good to see you, Lizzie," Francis said.
"What in God's name is going on?" Liz asked, "The power's out and you're skulking around with a gun with Dev and Kelsey in tow. What is happening?"
"Power outage is likely a distraction," Francis said, "Someone, most likely your new boss, Cyrus Renault, hired some thugs to pose as a doctor and nurse in an attempt to kidnap Kelsey."
"Are they still alive?" Liz asked.
Francis shrugged, "My priority is getting Kelsey out of here. Kellie and Jason are on their way here. I called them when I thought something was off about the doctor and nurse."
"I'll make a note to check that room later," Liz said, pulling out her phone and texting.
"What are you doing?" Francis asked.
"Getting her out of here," Liz said, "Without you skulking with your gun drawn it might be easier and you, Dev just got promoted to hospital volunteer."
"Wait what?" Dev replied.
"Whoa, whoa, whoa Lizzie," Francis said, "I'm not letting her out of my sight."
They were interrupted by a knock on the door. Liz motioned to the rest of them to stay out of sight of the door. Francis positioned himself in front of Dev, so Kelsey couldn't be seen.
Liz opened the door and motioned for Felix to be quiet as he came with a cart full of laundry.
"What's the 911?" Felix said.
"You're taking dirty laundry to the washroom near the morgue which has outside entrance/exits," Liz said, "And overseeing our new volunteer, Dev, showing him his responsibilities."
"What and Frannie over there is going along for the ride?" Felix quipped, "I'm not sure he'll fit in the cart."
Francis glared at Felix and looked at Liz. Liz rolled her eyes and went to take Kelsey.
"Do you want to go on an adventure with my friend Felix?" Liz said. Kelsey didn't really respond in her confusion.
"It's okay," Dev said, "We're going to play rolling hide and seek. You'll hide in the laundry basket while Felix and I roll the cart down the hall. You'll have to be really quiet."
"At the end of the adventure," Liz said, "Your mom and dad will find you. Does that sound good?"
Kelsey nodded.
"You're chariot, Madam," Felix said moving laundry from the basket as Liz put Kelsey in there.
"Now you and I have to be really quiet and really still," Dev whispered to Kelsey, "What's Francis going to be doing?"
"Lizzie's right," Francis said, "Our odds of getting Kelsey out of here are better if I'm not with her. They'll be looking for me first. I'll draw attention away from you."
"I'll let Kellie and Jason know where to meet Felix and Dev," Liz said.
"Who are we running from exactly?" Felix asked, "If I'm going to stick my neck out, it'd be nice to know."
"Cyrus's men we assume," Francis replied.
Francis looked at the gun he'd been caring and looked at Dev, trying to decide what to do.
"Do you know how to shoot, kid?" Francis said, "I mean really shoot."
Dev nodded, "Yes."
Francis shook his head before handing him the gun, "I hope you don't have to use this."
"It's showtime," Felix said as Liz opened the door.
Felix pushed the cart out and Dev followed.
PCPD
Jordan was in her office when her phone rang.
"Commissioner Ashford," Cyrus said when she answered, "I just wanted to let you know if you should get any reports of a power outage at General Hospital, there's nothing to worry about. The electric company is fixing the problem as we speak."
"Okay," Jordan said, "Noted."
"No need to send any of your cops to check it out if they get a report," Cyrus said, "Make sure they know that. Have a good day, Commissioner."
Jordan took a deep breath and headed out into the main area of the PCPD.
"Thank you, Dr. Westbourne," Mac said, ending the call, "Detective Spencer, you're coming with me. We're checking out a potential situation at General Hospital. Power's out. I'll fill you in on the way."
"That won't be necessary, Detective Scorpio," Jordan said, "I just spoke to the chairman of the board and he says there's nothing to worry about. The electric company is fixing the problem."
"Interesting that the Chief of Staff doesn't know that," Mac said, seeing Robert was overhearing the conversation, "Dr. Westbourne has no idea why the power is out and from the sound of it, it's chaos over there."
"Then the cause of the power outage may not have reached the Chief of Staff yet," Jordan said.
"I also got a report of potential situation there from Kellie Morgan," Mac said, "She was on the phone with Francis Corelli who was at the hospital with her daughter. Long story short, the call dropped after what she heard sounded like a fight. According to Kellie, Francis had concerns about the doctor seeing Kelsey for her check-up."
"Have you heard anything further?" Jordan said, "That's not a lot to go on."
"It can't hurt to check it out," Mac said, as Robert moved towards them, "The last thing we need is Kellie and Jason Morgan taking matters into their own hands if there is a problem."
"Commissioner," Robert said, "I need to have a word with you, excuse the interruption."
"I'm the middle of a discussion," Jordan started to say.
"It can wait," Robert said, ushering Jordan away.
"So are we going or are we not?" Valerie asked.
"We're going," Mac said.
Robert led Jordan back to her office.
"I really don't appreciate you…" Jordan sputtered.
"How long has Cyrus Renault been blackmailing you?" Robert asked leaving Jordan speechless.
