Your Smile
An ingenious drabble by moi.

The girl fumed.

'That jerk…! Selfish… arrogant… stupid…'

Trying to think of as many bad names as she could for the hanyou, she sighed, suddenly feeling defeated.

'If I didn't know better, I'd think he was bipolar…'

Kagome leaned up against a tree, tired. Today was just not her day. First an angry InuYasha pulls her out of her nice, comfy bed at six – yes six – a.m. only to get her arm broken painfully in a fight against Naraku. Then, instead of InuYasha getting worried about her like she was secretly hoping he would, he goes off on a rant about her staying out of the way! The nerve of him!

Closing her eyes, she intended to get peace. She wanted peace.

Actually… she more than wanted peace, she needed it.

Peace at last…

But, of course something has to ruin it. Something always does.

The fates had obviously sealed the fact that today wasn't her day.

Kagome sat up, sensing a powerful presence. The presence didn't have Jewel Shards, but it had one of those back-off-or-you're-dead vibes.

'Sesshomaru…!'

The Miko panicked. With her luck, InuYasha was off pouting or taking out his anger and Sango and Miroku were preoccupied with their little game of "See How Long the Monk Can Grab Sango's Butt Before She Slaps The Monk." Well, actually, it was Miroku's game, but they were not going to help her, nonetheless.

'I'm screwed…' Kagome thought desperately, dragging her knees to her stomach. 'Maybe if I can make myself really small he won't notice me…?' she thought.

Ok, maybe that wasn't the smartest idea she's had – him being a demon with superb smelling and senses and all. But hey, it was a shot.

…Even if it turned out to be an air ball.

Kagome closed her eyes fearing the worst. 'This is the end for me!' her mind thought, dramatically. 'No more bipolar idiot- hey… that might be a good thing…'

Noticing that she wasn't in bloody, cut up pieces yet, she looked up to find golden eyes staring at her in interest about 10 feet away. She couldn't look away from his golden eyes that seemed to demand respect.

Kagome watched in amazementand shock as his mouth seemed to turn up at the corners in a…

Smile?

A small smile, but a... smile however.

She watched in amazement as Sesshomaru walked on, not glancing back.

She was… alive…?

'Well, guess I still have to deal with bipolar idiots.' She thought dejectedly.

Then her mind wandered back to the picture of Sesshomaru smiling.

She was the one who he had smiled at.

And it was one of the most beautiful things she had ever seen.

Maybe it was her day after all…
