Johnny and Lorenzo passed Liz on their way down the hall.
"Frances was headed out the stairwell by the chief of staff's office," Liz said.
"Thanks," Johnny said, "Kellie got your message."
"Don't thank me yet," Liz said, "Security is on their way."
"Kellie already informed the PCPD of a possible issue," Johnny said as more gunshots were fired, "They may be on their way."
"O' Brien, get moving," Lorenzo said, "No disrespect, Nurse Webber."
Lorenzo and Johnny continued their chase and turned the corner to see Frances dodging behind the door to the stair well and one man laying on the floor.
"Frances, if you can hear us," Johnny yelled, "Calvary's arrived. Half of it anyway."
Lorenzo rolled his eyes as another man came out of the Chief of Staff's office and went to grab the door.
Johnny fired a shot, just missing him, "Don't even think about."
The gun man ducked into the chief of staff's office.
Frances peeked out of the stairwell.
"Go, we got this," Lorenzo said, "Find Kellie. She got the message."
Frances ducked back into the stair well.
Johnny and Lorenzo moved to the office to see Britt tied to a chair.
"Change of plans," the gun man said, moving behind the chair and starting to untie her, "Your status just got upgraded to hostage, Doc."
"That makes me feel so much better," Britt snipped, "Knowing you're planning to kill me as soon as you get away anyway."
"Hopefully, I'll be a long way from anywhere he can find me," the first man said, "Now move or the lady doctor gets it."
"Why would we care," Johnny said, "I mean if you're going to kill her as soon as she leaves, makes no difference to us."
"Figures you wouldn't care," Britt said, "Aren't you supposed to care about innocent people getting hurt on some level."
"If they demote my favorite nurse and do Cyrus Renault's bidding," Johnny said, "Not such a clear choice."
"Hello, I'm obviously not his favorite person anymore," Britt said.
The first man pointed the gun at Britt's head and yelled, "Quiet all of you."
Silence fell among the group.
"PCPD," Mac said as he and Valerie approached the group.
"Stay back," the man said, yanking Britt up to her feet and positioning her as a shield.
"Mr. O' Brien, Mr. Alcazar," Valerie said, "I'm sure I don't have to tell you twice to step aside and let the police handle this."
The gun man fired off a shot towards Lorenzo and Johnny, missing them but forcing them to give him space to move out of the office towards the stairs.
"Everyone put their guns down.
Mac and Valerie put their guns down.
"We're putting our guns down," Valerie said, "I'm sure we can talk about this."
"O' Brien, Alcazar, guns on the floor now," Mac said.
Johnny and Lorenzo looked at each other and then went to slowly put their guns down.
Their guns were half to the ground when Johnny lunged forward. The gun man fired a shot. Lorenzo fired a shot causing the gun man to stumble and lose his grip on Britt. Johnny grabbed Britt and dove into the office with her as the gun man fire more shots wildly.
Outside the Morgue
Kellie kept pacing and looking at the doors to the morgue.
"I screwed this up, Sam," Kellie said, "I second guessed sending the kids to the island with everything going on. How could I screw this up this bad that I'm waiting to see if my daughter's safely coming out of the hospital of all places."
"Hey, you cannot worry about that right now," Sam said, "Right we have to focus on getting Kelsey and you can worry about that later."
"I don't know why this was so hard this time, Sam," Kellie said, "When Garrett was a threat in California, I whisked the kids off to the island the day of their father's funeral. No second thoughts. This time what do I do, I give Cyrus an open invitation to come after my kids by sticking around."
"But when Tyler died in California and Garrett was after you, you didn't have as many ties there," Sam said, "I know you'd been living there for years and had some ties. But the really big ones, Charles and Dad, all followed you back to Port Charles. Here you have a lot more ties and I could see how that might make it harder for you to want to pick up your kids and leave. You think I haven't thought about whether I should send Danny to the island especially after the floating rib exploded. But what about school and his friends. And he's already been through so much losing Jason, Drew, and then the fiasco of who was Jason and who was Drew in all of that."
"Then I married Jason in the middle of all that," Kellie said.
"He got over that eventually," Sam said, "We all figured it out somehow. We'll figure this out too."
"Has it even been send the kids to the island bad before?" Kellie said, "Here in Port Charles. I know years ago, I put extra guards on Kristina and Michael and Morgan during the whole Ethan mess. Even when Helena and Luis were kidnapping Danny from each other, we never sent them away."
"When Michael was shot maybe or some time after," Sam said, "You'd left town right after he got shot. But it has been awhile."
"I never had to make those decisions, not living in Port Charles," Kellie said, "In California, there were times things happened, but not a period of months. Garrett was my enemy though connected to organized crime…"
"You made the best decision you knew how to make," Sam said, "It's never easy making that decision or when to make that decision. I was fortunate not to have to struggle too often with having to make that decision. In all the years I've known you, you've never taken the security of any of the kids lightly, not just yours. I don't want to see you beat yourself up over this. Not when any second Felix and Dev will come out with Kelsey. She is going to be so happy to see her mom."
"I hope it's that simple," Kellie said, looking back towards the morgue door.
Inside General Hospital, Felix and Dev had made it to the floor the morgue was on when Cyrus came up behind them.
"Nurse DuBois," Cyrus said, "We're in the middle of a power outage and you're what? Entertaining high school students. You really should be assisting upstairs."
"Well, power outage or not," Felix replied, "Dirty laundry still needs to be moved to make way for the clean laundry even in a power outage."
"Good thing those back- up generators kicked in," Dev said, "and we didn't have to take the stairs."
"What exactly are you doing here, Mr. Cerci?" Cyrus asked.
"Learning the ropes as a volunteer," Felix said.
"Where's his badge?" Cyrus asked.
"HR couldn't get me the badge when the power went out," Dev said, "Things seemed pretty chaotic. I figured I could lend a hand in the meantime."
"Well, if you're not an official volunteer at the hospital," Cyrus said, "And you were to get hurt, that could be problematic for the hospital," Cyrus said, "You really need to wait until all your paper work is done. And as for you Nurse DuBois, I'm sure getting the dirty laundry to the wash room can wait. There are other more important things you could be doing."
"As soon as I get this cart to the washroom, Mr. Renault," Felix said.
"I'll get it," Cyrus said, "You make sure your young friend here gets safely back to where visitors are allowed."
Dev's hand moved for the gun Francis has given him as Felix turned him back the way they came.
"If you're sure Mr. Renault," Felix said.
"I'm sure," Cyrus said, "I'm happy to make the nurses job's easier when I can."
"Thank you," Felix said, ushering Dev back down the hall.
Cyrus watched them leave until they got back in the elevator and pushed the cart down the hall.
