Chief of Staff's Office
Johnny slammed the door shut to Britt's office as Britt fell to the floor.
"That was your big rescue," Britt said as he locked the door, "Force the man with the gun to start shooting. Were you trying to get me shot?"
"I could have always just left you outside," Johnny said.
"Oh my god, you did get shot," Britt said, seeing blood through Johnny's shirt sleeve.
"It's just a graze," Johnny said.
"It's dripping all over my office floor," Britt said, grabbing a first aid kit from the shelf.
"You're worried about blood in the hospital," Johnny said, "I'm sure you have people to clean that up."
"Just shut up and let me see the damage," Britt replied, rolling her eyes.
Outside the Chief of Staff's office
The gun man hit the ground and lost his gun. He went to reach for another gun. He was stopped by Lorenzo stepping on his arm.
"Don't even think about it," Lorenzo said, aiming at him.
"It doesn't look like he's going anywhere," Valerie said, noting the blood coming from the gun man's foot.
"We'll need to take your gun, Mr. Alcazar," Valerie said as Mac called for back-up and for a doctor.
Lorenzo looked at Mac.
"It's procedure," Mac said, "We'll be taking you down to the station for questioning."
Lorenzo looked annoyed.
"You fired your weapon and disobeyed police orders," Mac said, "I'm sure you know the drill, Alcazar."
Service Elevator
"Frances gave me…." Dev said as Felix was texting,, "We could have."
"I prefer not to be in the middle of the shoot out," Felix said, continuing to text, "If Liz's plan worked, Kelsey's mom will be close by with her back up. If we're lucky, Cyrus won't realize Kelsey's in there. However I'm not leaving that to chance. You have Kellie's number? Let her know.
Washroom
Cyrus wheeled the cart almost to the washroom door when an employee came out the door.
"Mr. Renault," one of the staff said, "What are you doing down here?"
"Just doing my part to keep this fine hospital running," Cyrus said.
"But everyone's looking for you," the employee responded, "Security and police are responding to an incident at the chief of staff's office. Possible gun shot fired. We will take care of the laundry. You have more important things to do."
The employee grabbed the cart and shooed Cyrus off.
Morgue
Having gotten a call from Dev that Cyrus had the laundry cart, Kellie and Sam entered the morgue surprising the staff.
"My daughter got lost," Kellie said, "We think she came this way. We just need to get through and look for her."
The staff let them through. They stopped at the door, seeing Cyrus hurry away from the cart.
Kellie and Sam waited holding their breath. They watched the employee start to pull the cart into the washroom.
When Cyrus was out of sight, Kellie and Sam started to open the door when the cart came back into the hallway along with the employee.
The employee caught Kellie's eye and motioned for her to stay.
Sam opened the morgue door when the employee and the cart got close letting them in.
Kellie pulled laundry out of the basket and found Kelsey curled up at the bottom. Kellie hoisted her out.
"Mama," Kelsey said, clinging to her.
"Thank you," Kellie said.
"No thanks needed," the employee said, "You'll find most of us at GH would rather not see these type of shenanigans go on, Mrs. Morgan. Many of us aren't fans of recent changes."
"Here's hoping that those changes get reversed sooner rather than later," Sam muttered as Frances came through the door.
"Good, Lizzie's plan worked," Francis said, "I suggest we get out of here."
Francis ushered Kellie and Sam out of the morgue.
"Did you see Uncle Lo and Johnny". Kellie asked once they go to the street.
"They were able to help me get away from one of Cyrus's men," Francis said, "Police and security are crawling all over the hospital."
"Does that mean Brick can't get us?" Kellie started to ask.
"Once I lost Cyrus's men, I texted Brick hoping he could either be the getaway car or get us one," Francis said, "He's on his way here."
"Did you hear from Dev?" Kellie asked as they moved.
"He texted," Francis said, "Felix made sure he left out a side door. Soon as Brick picks you up, I'll go back for him."
"Francis, go find him now," Kellie said.
"We got this," Sam said, seeing a black SUV coming around the corner, "If I'm not mistaken, that's Brick now."
Quartermaine Mansion
Jason ran into the mansion living room where Monica was checking out Kelsey. He stood and watched as Monica finished. Charles was also sitting in a chair, crutches nearby.
"I don't see anything to be concerned about," Monica said, "But you'll want to follow up with her regular doctor."
"We'll do that," Kellie said, brushing Kelsey's hair out of her face and handing her to Jason.
"What happened?" Monica asked, "All I know is it's been chaos at the hospital. Power outage and apparently police are all over. Reports of gun shots."
"We can't really speak to the power outage or gun shots," Jason said, "But Francis took Kelsey to a check up. Kelsey's regular pediatrician was out and the attending doctor insisted on taking Kelsey for tests immediately."
"That's odd," Monica said.
"When Francis refused to let the doctor take her without him," Kellie said, "He called us, the power went out, and the line went dead."
"Kellie went to GH to wait for Francis and Kelsey to get out of the hospital," Jason said, "Thank you for taking a look at her."
"As for anything else going on at GH," Kellie said, "It's anyone's guess."
"Right," Monica said, "Damn that Renault. That is who you suspect of orchestrating whatever happened."
"That is our best assumption," Kellie said, "Proving it will be another thing."
"The important thing for now," Charles said, "is this little one is safe."
"Which brings up the next subject, ensuring she and the rest of the kids stay safe," Kellie said.
"The island?" Charles asked.
"Yeah, I put it off too long," Kellie said, "We'll keep them home from school tomorrow, get their homework, and have them leave as soon as we can arrange it."
"Are you going with them?" Charles asked.
"No," Kellie said, solemnly, "I want to. But there's things I have to do here."
"What kind of things?" Monica asked, "What could possibly be so important that the two of you would leave your children like that? I'm sure Renault's more interested in Jason, not you. At least one of you could.."
"It's complicated," Jason said, "The hospital's not his only objective."
"Is this about Sonny's business," Monica replied, " If Cyrus wants to take over where Sonny left off, why not let him. Why do you have to be the one take over for Sonny? You could just walk away."
"It doesn't work like that, Monica," Kellie said, "I'm pretty sure the only way Cyrus Renault will let either of us walk away is straight into a coffin. Not to mention, he'll bring things into Port Charles, my father would never let in."
"So if Jason insists on doing this," Monica said, "You could still go with the kids."
"Given Kellie's history with Sonny's business," Jason said, "Sonny's associates have certain perceptions of her. As Sonny's daughter, they may need certain assurances from her."
"For a myriad of unforeseen insane reasons," Kellie said, "Jason's position as head of the business isn't as secure as we would have thought."
"Are you serious?" Monica
"And Renault has been targeting me, the foundation," Kellie said, "He doesn't care who gets caught in the crossfire. I certainly don't want to be separated from my children like this. But I can't put them in harm's way nor can I just ignore the fact if Cyrus is left unchecked, no one will recognize Port Charles. Do you know how much the number of drug overdoses has increased in Port Charles since he was released from prison. It's rising every week."
"I knew there'd been an increase," Monica said, "I didn't realize since I was fired from GH…."
"I know you hate everything about what I do for a living," Jason said, "But believe me when I tell you that if I don't solidify my position, there will be a blood bath over the territory and the drug problem will just get worse."
"I just wish it didn't have to be you," Monica said, "I worry about you, both of you. I just wish this wasn't even a conversation."
"But we'll support whatever you need to do to keep the kid's safe," Charles said, "I know you wouldn't send the kids the island without you unless you were absolutely sure it was right thing to do."
"Thank you," Kellie said.
"If you can't go with the kids," Charles said, "I'll go with them."
"You will?" Monica said, "But your recovery."
"I can get around on crutches now," Charles said, "And I can continue to recover on the island."
"Charles, I'd obviously make sure you had everything you needed," Kellie said, "But I don't expect…"
"Are we really going to have this conversation about what you do and don't expect me to do for my grandchildren," Charles asked, "Have you ever managed to change my mind when I've made a decision?"
"No," Kellie said, "But I do worry about feeling like you put your life on hold. You and Monica just moved into together."
"I was hoping, Monica," Charles said, "That you would be willing to come with me."
Monica looked surprised.
"If you want to," Charles said, "It could be a vacation for you if you want."
"I guess someone has to help keep you in line," Monica said, "And the grandkids. Then I wouldn't worry about your recovery so much."
