Kellie was still drifting in and out once she was moved out of recovery. Jason sat next to her bedside holding her hand.

Eventually Kellie woke up enough to be aware of her surroundings.

"Why do I feel like I got hit by a train?" Kellie asked, groggily, "…While floating?"

Jason held back a laugh, relieved, "I would guess the floating is probably from the pain medicine they have you on."

"Oh," Kellie replied, "And the train, oh wait, that son of a bitch shot me, didn't he?"

"If by son of a bitch you mean Peter August," Jason said, "Then yes, he shot you while you were trying to get out of a burning building. "

Kellie tried to sit up.

"Take it easy," Jason said, easing her back, "The doctors are optimistic about your recovery, but you're not out of the woods yet."

"It's just you and me right," Kellie asked.

"It's just us. You have a private room," Jason said, "Johnny was insistent and Jax helped smooth that over."

"Is the son of a bitch dead?" Kellie asked, "Or did he manage to weasel his way out of death or prison again?"

"He's dead," Jason said, "Anna confirmed it herself."

"And Dad?" Kellie said, skipping subjects.

"Cops took him to the station," Jason said, "I sent Max to meet him there."

"Do the kids know?" Kellie asked.

"Charles and Monica were going to tell them you'd been hurt, but the doctors were fixing you," Jason replied.

"I wore my vest, Jason," Kellie said, tiring, "I don't…"

"Lorenzo's looking into it," Jason said, "Since you order them through the same company the foundation orders some of the rescue team's supplies, he's checking for the possibility there's a connection."

"So Peter or someone planned to…" Kellie said.

"I doubt Peter planned that," Jason said.

"There's something Peter said," Kellie said, trying not to drift back off, "It's right there."

"It can wait," Jason said.

"No, Cyrus," Kellie said, "In the fire, Peter told me Cyrus sent his regrets. They must be…."

"Shhh," Jason said, "I'll let make sure Anna and whoever else needs to know. You just rest. Let your body heal."

"Good night, sexy boy toy," Kellie mumbled, before drifting back off to sleep.

Jason kissed her forehead, "I'll be back as soon as I can."

Jason opened the door where Johnny was standing outside.

"Is she awake yet?" Johnny asked.

"On and off," Jason said, "Any idea where Valentin might be lurking?"

Johnny shook his head.

"Did someone mention my name?" Valentin asked.

"Did you really have to let him on the plane?" Johnny asked.

"If he wanted to be at his wife's bedside any faster, he did," Valentin said, "Anna wouldn't leave without me."

"Weren't you supposed to be taking statements?" Jason asked.

"Ah, yes, well, being as that Peter August was terrorizing Maxie," Valentin said, "Frisco Jones decided to grace us with his presence and take over the investigation."

"Considering your relationship with Nina Reeves," Johnny said, "That's probably for the best."

"How about let's not talk about Nina's role in today's fiasco," Valentin said, "Now you apparently were looking for me. If Kellie's awake, I could take her statement."

Johnny and Jason shifted blocking the door to Kellie's room even more.

"She's not awake enough to do that yet," Jason said.

"Probably not coherent enough yet either," Valentin said.

"There is one thing she said that you and Anna should know," Jason said.

"And that is," Valentin asked.

"Peter apparently told her Cyrus sent his regrets," Jason said.

"If that's true," Valentin said, "and before you get all defensive, any lawyer worth their salt will tell you its hearsay and Cyrus's lawyers will claim she made it up. But if it's true then Peter's probably been doing Cyrus's dirty work in exchange for something."

"Help escaping the law," Johnny said.

"That would be the obvious," Valentin said, his phone ringing, "Hold on, I have to take this."

Valentin answered and listened as the caller informed him Elijah the business man who had been try to buy up property in Nixon Falls through unscrupulous means had previously worked with Cassandra Pierce.

"That's why that name was familiar,' Valentin said, "I appreciate the information…..I will check my email for those photos."

"What was that about?" Jason asked when Valentine hung up.

"That is classified information," Valentin said, quickly moving away, "I need to go meet Anna at the police station. I'll be sure relay Kellie' message from Peter about Cyrus."

Nixon Falls Police Department

John McBain arrived to find Max refusing to let Sonny speak to anyone without an attorney.

"We'll have a public defender appointed for him," Chief Crowe said.

"Mr. Corinthos's attorney is on her way," Max said, "We won't be using a public defender."

"Who are you to speak for Mr. Corinthos?" Chief Crowe said, "He doesn't even know who he is. I think given his current mental state, he needs counsel sooner than your lawyer can get here."

"Chief Crowe," McBain said, flashing his badge, "I'm John McBain with the FBI. You will not be questioning Mr. Corinthos or anyone else in this case for that matter. No one from your station will be questioning him. Especially without his attorney. In the meantime, I need to speak with you in private."

"I never thought I'd be happy to see you Agent McBain," Max said.

"I've had about enough of flashy badge types coming in here and telling me how to do my job," Chief Crowe said, "This is my station."

"You're temporarily relieved of your duties," the Mayor said coming into the station, "The FBI called me, pending further investigation regarding your conduct in failing to identify Sonny Corinthos, a known fugitive when he first came to Nixon Falls, you are officially on administrative leave. He's all yours, Agent McBain."

"On what grounds," Agent Crowe said.

"Unless you want me to arrest for obstruction of justice right here in front of everyone," McBain said, "I suggest we go somewhere more private. You might want to call your attorney as well."

Port Charles

"Are you absolutely sure Peter August is dead, Anna?" Mac said on the phone.

"Positive, I identified the body myself," Anna said.

"On one hand I'm relieved," Mac said, "On the other hand if he was our only lead to finding Maxie's daughter."

"I know," Anna said, "That just means we'll have to redouble our efforts at looking for her. If Peter's not running and covering his tracks, maybe we can find the loose ends he left."

"Let's hope," Mac said, "I'm going to tell Maxie the news."

"There's one more thing," Anna said, "I'm sure this will hit the grapevine. But Sonny Corinthos is alive. He doesn't remember who he is. I'm not sure how much of his family actually knows yet."

"Why am I somehow not surprised?" Mac said, "I have some questions for him."

"You'll have to get in line," Anna said, "FBI is handling that portion of the case. John McBain is probably questioning him now or soon as Diane Miller will let him."

"Tell McBain I said hello," Mac said.

Maxie's Apartment

Felicia met Mac outside Maxie's apartment.

"What's so urgent you texted me to drop whatever I was doing and get over here?" Felicia asked, "Oh please tell me you found Louise?"

"The news isn't quite that good," Mac said, knocking on Maxie's door, "I'll tell you and Maxie at the same time."

Maxie opened the door, "Come on in. What's going on? Is it about Peter?"

"I talked to Anna," Mac said as he and Felicia came inside.

"And?" Felicia said.

"She said that Peter August is dead," Mac said.

"Like dead, dead?" Maxie asked.

"He better be," Felicia said, "After what he put Maxie through."

"He is definitely dead," Mac said, "Anna identified the body herself."

"This is real?" Maxie replied, "No tricks, no way possible he faked it."

"No," Mac said, "I checked the initial police reports after Anna called."

"What happened?" Felicia asked.

"Details are kind of scarce," Mac said, "But Kellie spotted him in Nixon Falls, Pennsylvania. She called it in. WSB asked her to apprehend him with the local police. By the time she caught up with him, he had taken two women hostage and was setting a building on fire."

"Oh my god," Maxie said, "I knew Peter was…..but I just…I'll let you finish."

"In the altercation, Kellie was able to free the two women," Mac said.

"I'm sure Peter wasn't willing to go without a fight," Felicia said.

"Kellie shot him three times," Mac said, "Once in each leg and a third bullet to the chest. It's possible the smoke killed him first. They don't know."

"And Kellie got out okay," Maxie said, "Right. Of course she, did. I need to call her….."

"You might want to wait a few days," Mac said, "Peter did shoot her. Sounds like she'll recover."

"Where was Johnny O'Brien or the police in all of this?" Felicia asked, "I can't imagine he'd just let Kellie go after Peter August by herself."

"Details are little sketchy there," Mac said, "The police response was delayed for some reason. I do know O' Brien was the one who got Kellie out of the burning building."

"I'm sure Anna will sort it out," Felicia said, "We have more important things to focus on like finding Louise. Obviously, Peter won't be any help. But Maxie I really think we should talk about what happened the night Louise was born…."

Mac and Felicia realized Maxie had left the living room as Maxie came back with her jacket and purse.

"Just where do you think you're going, Maxie?" Felicia said.

"Are you one hundred percent that Peter is no longer …" Maxie said, "I don't have to worry about him."

"I'm sure, Anna's sure," Mac said, "I'm sure eventually you can talk to her, Kellie even about what happened. But your mom's right, we need to talk about.."

"I know you mean well," Maxie said, "Oh god, I don't even know where to start….everything I did to protect Louise from Peter."

"Maxie, what do you mean?" Felicia asked.

"This is what I hoped for to not have to worry about Peter hurting my children or me ever again," Maxie said, "I need to be sure that he's really gone. It's just hard to believe, hard to wrap my mind around. But I might actually finally be able to bring my daughter home now."

Mac and Felicia looked at Maxie stunned and confused.

"Maxie, what you do mean by actually bring your daughter home?" Mac finally asked.
