I opened my eyes to perfect silence. Well, silence aside from two separate sets of breathing aside from my own. I adjusted my pillow under my head and gazed at Sofia in her bassinet, arms raised above her head and hands curls into loose fists.
I smiled to myself and jumped a little when Dimitri rolled over and wrapped his arm around his waist. I chuckled quietly when Dimitri sleepily pressed his lips to my neck before burrowing his face in the crook of my neck.
"Morning."
"Morning," Dimitri mumbled against my skin. I wiggled back into him and looked at the clock, relieved that I hadn't woke up too much earlier than my alarm. It was my first day back to work. Both the diner and the gym. Only four hours each, but it was better than nothing.
It was also Dimitri's first full day back at Belikov Enterprises, he was also on baby duty until my shift at the gym.
"What time is it?"
"Just after six," I said running my hand over the arm wrapped around my waist. Dimitri grumbled and pulled me tighter before lifting his head. I turned mine just enough to look at him and smiled at him. Dimitri gave me a smirk and gave me a chaste kiss.
"She still asleep?" Dimitri asked before kissing me again. I nodded my head and rolled to face him, wiggling a leg between his and resting a hand on his chest. I felt a little victorious about Sofia still being asleep. She was an early riser and was particularly loud in the mornings.
I really didn't want to get up and out of bed, but I knew that I needed to get ready soon. I wouldn't put it past Stan have a fit for being late my first day back.
"Ready for today?" I asked.
Dimitri shrugged. "Yeah, but my schedule is lighter today thanks to Ivan. But I'm sure everyone on the twentieth floor will be coming by my office to see Sofia," Dimitri said with a shake of his head. It seemed like his day was going to be busy and interrupted.
"So not very productive," I joked.
"Mmhmm. Want to trade?"
"Nah. I think I'm going to enjoy a morning of smelling coffee and then an afternoon of working out and getting paid for it," I said with a smirk.
"I could give you a workout right now if you'd like," Dimitri growled playfully, rolling me onto my back. I giggled and bit my lip to keep quiet, slipping my arms around his neck. Dimitri's eyes were playful and unguarded as he laid over me, dusting my neck with kisses and nips. I tugged on the ends of his hair and pulled his lips to mine as his fingers skimmed up my waist, lifting my shirt as he went.
I wagged my brows at him as we quickly stripped each other down to our underwear, rolling myself on top of him and cupping his cheeks as I kissed him. I trailed kisses from his lips to his cheek, and then to his neck, finding the soft spot below his jaw. I hissed as Dimitri's rough hands cupped my breasts, jerking at the sensitivity. They were rock hard in the morning and even touching them made them ache slightly.
I nipped at Dimitri's jaw, and he chuckled, knowing that he did it on purpose. He was drawn to them like a magnet. Even in his sleep, his hands would end up on my boobs.
"Roza," Dimitri grunted, pulling away from me. I lifted my head up and frowned at him, finding his looking to the side. I followed his gave and found a big pair of brown eyes watching us, a big smile on her face. I shook my head and peeked at Dimitri's lips again before climbing off of him and the bed. Sofia started to wiggle around and gurgled at me, eyes widening and her mouth opening and closing excitedly as I picked her up.
I sat down on the bed beside Dimitri and rested my head against the headboard. I laughed and gave her what she wanted, holding her in my arms as she fed
"Our daughter has ruined our sex lives," Dimitri chuckled, leaning next to me on the headboard. I snorted a laugh and shook my head.
"Yeah, but she's worth it," I said looking down at her before switching her to the other side. Dimitri nodded his head in agreeance and ran his finger over Sofia's hand, smiling when she wrapped her fingers around his.
I yawned widely and shook my head slightly, trying to rid myself of the last grip of sleep. Dimitri shifted on the bed and kissed my temple before leaning down to kiss Sofia's head.
"I'm going to make coffee and have a shower," Dimitri said climbing out of bed. I nodded at him.
"Bring me a cup before you get in?" I asked with a smile. Dimitri looked at me from the doorway with a cocky smirk.
"Roza, I know better than to bring up coffee and not bring you a cup before I do anything else."
I snorted a laugh and stroked Sofia's back as she finished her feeding.
"Daddy thinks he's funny, doesn't he?" I said lifting Sofia to my eye level. Sofia made a laughing noise and reached out for me, gripping onto a piece of my hair that had fallen in my face. I tipped my head back before she could grab onto it and pulled her to me, kissing her little mouth.
"You think Daddy's funny too?"
I got a gummy smile then. I chuckled and kissed her nose as Dimitri came in with a cup of coffee.
"Thank you," I said.
Dimitri smirked at me before letting his eyes wander over my body and nodded his head.
"I'm going to have my shower now," he said.
"You should make it a cold one," I chirped, looking pointedly at the tenting in his boxers. Dimitri rolled his at me and stepped into the bathroom.
I tightened my ponytail and grabbed my notepad, tucking it and a few pens into the pocket of my apron before heading out onto the floor, smiling at my coworkers as I went. It was easy to fall back into the rhythm of the morning rush, the only thing I had an issue with was the new POS system Stan purchased. I kept deleting my orders instead of processing them.
By the end of the morning rush, I had deleted four of my orders and eight of Abby's. Thankfully, she showed me how to pull them back up through the drive. I leaned against the counter and rubbed my eyes. Only forty minutes left of this shift. I pushed myself off the counter and pushed open the door, noticing there was only one table in my section. I slipped behind the main counter to grab a few menus.
"Oh, there she is!"
I turned around to find Mrs. Langston and a few others from the Sunday lunch group sitting at my table. I gave her a smile and made my way over to the table, leaning down to give her a hug.
"It's Tuesday, what are you all doing here?" I said accusingly with a smirk, laughing when Mr. Ward waved me off.
"Abby told us on Sunday that today was your first day back, and we all wanted to be here," Mr. Ward said, patting my hand. I nodded and pulled out my notepad.
"I can assume it's the usual for all of you?"
"Yes, except no butter on my toast. The doctor keeps telling me to cut back on my saturated fats," Mrs. Langston said. I nodded and told them I'd be back soon with their coffees. I went back into the kitchen and punched in their orders, sucking on my bottom lip as I carefully processed it.
I did a little happy dance when I got the order in without deleting it, making Stan and Josh behind the cook plate laugh. I stuck my tongue out at Josh and got my coffees ready.
"Make sure you don't put butter on the sunrise order, Mrs. Langston will throttle all of us!"
"Sure! And horses fly," Stan laughed with a head shake. I rolled my eyes and brought my coffees out, setting them down on the table.
"How is your baby?"
"She's great. Perfect, actually. She has got a thick head of hair already," I said setting napkins and raw sugar packets on the table. Mr. Andrews and Ms. Charters nodded with smiles while Mrs. Langston looked like she was going to burst with excitement.
"Can we see a picture? We've been following you and your man in the paper and magazine, but there has never been any pictures of your baby."
I took a peek behind me to see where Stan was before pulling my phone out and flipping through my photos, landing on one I knew would make her happy. Dressed in the knitted dress Mrs. Langston made with a cute little flower sitting amongst her curls. She was only a month old in the picture and snuggled against my chest.
I turned the phone around and showed the table, smiling proudly at their reactions. I swiped through a few others, some of just Sofia, some of Dimitri and Sofia, me and Sofia, the three of us together. Lastly, the last one was from this morning of Sofia and Dimitri. It was probably one of my favourites. Dimitri dressed in a suit and tie for work with Sofia in his arms, she dressed in grey leggings and a beige sweater, fluffy hat on her head.
"She's got some beautiful hair," Mrs. Charters sighs, cooing at the pictures. I nodded.
"It is beautiful, but she manages to get spit up in her hair all the time," I snort as I put my phone back in my apron. I turn to look into the kitchen and watch their food go up on the counter. I left the table and went into the kitchen, getting the plates and side and brought them back out to the table.
I gave them all a smile as I set their food down and went back into the kitchen and got my bag ready to go. Once my table was done eating, I could clock out and pick up Sofia from Dimitri before heading to work and the gym.
I waved bye to my client and did the follow-up notes for their file, tapping my fingers on the keyboard as I looked through my handwritten notes. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw the chair roll out beside me and someone sat down.
"You know, if I had a baby that had a face like this, I would never leave her alone," Alberta said in a sing-song voice. I chuckled and turned to her, only to find her holding Sofia with a proud grin.
"You sprung my kid from the daycare center?"
"Hey, they can see us," Alberta pointed out, looking towards the glass wall of the daycare center in the gym. I shook my head and turned my chair towards her, smiling at the two of them. Alberta picked Sofia up and lifted her above her head, cooing at her before putting her back down in her lap.
Alberta was like a grandmother to Sofia. She even had gone as far as to call herself GeGe when speaking to Sofia. To be honest, it warmed my heart a bit. I viewed Alberta as a mother figure, it was only fitting that she be a grandmother figure to Sofia.
"How is Dimitri taking to fatherhood? Has he settled in yet?"
I set my pen down and looked at Alberta with fondness.
"Honestly, he is an amazing dad so far. He is so attentive with her, and he just melts every time he looks at her. And she has him wound so tight around his finger," I sighed happily. Dimitri really was taking fatherhood with stride. He didn't want to miss a thing. He was there for every night feeding or diaper change, even if it wasn't his turn. Dimitri loved to watch her when he spoke to her in his native tongue. He loved how she would get transfixed on him or me when we spoke.
"You know, I think that he is the perfect person to have a child with. He doesn't turn away from the explosive diapers and he loves having one on one time with her. We usually split it up so that I get the morning one on one and he gets bedtime one on one. "
"And it's nice to be doing this with someone. It was so hard being a single Mom the first time around, and it's relieving to know that I'm not alone."
Alberta smiled and patted Sofia's back, giving me a look of motherly affection. I opened up to Alberta during the beginning of my third trimester about Jenny. She was shocked, to say the least but listened intently as I poured my heart out to her.
"I'm glad you have the support that you need and want. It's important. Plus, the three of you make quite the adorable family. Do you think that you might think about having another?"
I tipped my head back and laughed loudly. "Alberta, Sofia is only three and half months old!"
"So!" Albert retorted, "I can't see Dimitri being a one-child only kind of man, and if I remember correctly, you said something along the lines of 'I could see us having a gaggle of children.'"
I shook my head and went back to my notes. She wasn't wrong. I do remember saying that, but I just didn't think she would have remembered it.
"If things work out with us as I hope, then I think we will have more kids."
"Work out?"
I sighed and turned my chair back towards her. Was this small, minuscule doubt really worth opening up about? Alberta clicked her tongue at Sofia and her head swivelled around so she was looking at her again.
"It's nothing."
"See Sofia, this is how your Momma operates, she bottles things up until it eats her away inside," Alberta said in a child-like voice, tilting the side to be closer to Sofia's eye level. I scoffed and rolled my eyes at her.
"I'm just worried that I may not be enough for him," I said quietly, keeping my eyes trained on the piece of my life that has made every heartache better. Alberta rose from her chair and plopped Sofia in my lap before crouching in front of me.
"That is a stupid worry. You may not see it, but I see how he looks at you. You are more than enough; you are everything to him. Why would you think you wouldn't be enough?"
I shook my head and shrugged. "I don't know. I just think about what his life is like to mine. He has a career, his own enterprise. He has everything he could want with all these amazing people. Women that could keep up with that lifestyle. I've been out of that for years and I don't know if I could ever catch up. I haven't even finished college yet."
"So, what is stopping you? I believe that despite being in a relationship, there is still a hefty amount of money in your bank account from the original surrogacy agreement. You can go back to school, have a career, stop working three jobs and practically killing yourself. You deserve every happiness in the world, and that man is willing to give you everything because he loves you. Don't ever doubt that. It's just like you said, he has this amazing life with all of these amazing people, and he choose you. Don't forget that," Alberta said determinedly, squeezing my shoulder. I gave her a tight smile and felt a little weight come off my shoulders.
I knew that Dimitri loved me and that it wasn't some juvenile kind of love. It was the kind of love that could weather any storm, the kind that was true and wholesome. The kind of love that made me feel warm when I'd catch him looking at me.
And I genuinely loved him too. It was similar to the love I felt for Jenny. The deep, unconditional love made me feel whole. We didn't need fancy dates or expensive things. A smile from him would make anything better. I never knew what real, intimate love could feel like, but if this is what it was, then I was happy.
"What brought this on?"
I shook my head. "I don't know. My emotions and hormones are all over the place. I cried watching a commercial the other day," I said with a pitiful laugh, running my fingers through Sofia's hair. Alberta nodded and leaned forward to kiss my forehead.
"I was like that after I had my son. It passes," Alberta reassured with a laugh.
"I didn't know you had a son," I said in surprise, "How old is he?"
Alberta furrowed her brows at me. "He's your age. Actually, you've met him, multiple times. Eddie is my son."
My jaw dropped and my eyes widened. Eddie? My private security Eddie?
"Yes, your private security Eddie," Alberta laughed, making me realize that I spoke out loud.
I chuckled and shook my head in surprise. I was having a hard time wrapping my head around it, but now that I knew, I could see it. They had the same eyes; shape and colour.
"I can't believe I didn't put that together," I laughed, kissing Sofia's head. Alberta snickered and flickered her eyes to the left.
"Well, we should get back to work, Jason just walked in," Alberta said standing up, holding her hands out for Sofia. I shook my head and held Sofia close to me as I stood up. I turned around to head back to the daycare and passed Jason, giving him a tight-lipped smile. I was surprised that I received a genuine smile from him.
"How was your maternity leave?" Jason asked as he stopped me. I turned to him and shrugged slightly.
"It was fine. Long but not long enough, but I'm glad to be back at work," I said, adjusting Sofia on my hip. Jason nodded awkwardly and started to walk away again.
"Cute kid!" he called back over his shoulder. I shook my head and continued towards the daycare center.
I sighed happily and smiled at my best friend.
"That is it. I am, one hundred percent, debt-free," I said with a smile. Lissa smiled at me from across the coffee table, adjusting her arm under Sofia's head as she fed her her bottle.
"Even with the bills for Sofia?"
"Yes. I had to practically strongarm Dimitri into letting me pay for half of the hospital bills. He paid off my student loans and most of my medical bills from Jenny. I wanted to do something with the money he gave when it was just surrogacy. I eventually got him to relent," I said folding my arms behind my head.
"Oh? And how did you do that?" she asked, looking down at Sofia and then back to me. She found my smirk and raised her brows at me. "Would it be inappropriate to ask while holding your child?"
"Let's just say Dimitri had a very nice Valentine's Day. And I can officially add having sex in a public bathroom to my lists of adventures. It's hard to have sex when there's a baby only a few feet away," I said with a smirk, biting my lip to keep some of my smile contained. Lissa chuckled and smirked at me as she burped Sofia.
"Antonio's?"
I nodded and Lissa giggled. "Well, if there was a bathroom to do it in, that's the one. Did you get caught?"
"Not exactly. Eddie and Celeste were standing in the hallway when we came out though," I said handing Lissa a cloth to wipe Sofia's mouth with. Lissa rolled her eyes and used the towel she had thrown over her shoulder instead.
"So, I know that it is late, but how about you and me go out for a night to celebrate your birthday?" Lissa suggested, tucking her hair out of the way of Sofia's outstretched hand. She loved hair, and she loved to pull it, much to Dimitri and I's despair.
"I'd like that," I replied with a smile. Lissa beamed at me.
"I promise, nothing crazy! Maybe just dinner and a few drinks? Or are you still breastfeeding?"
"I can pump before and after."
Lissa smiled and placed Sofia in the dock-a-tot and leaned back on the couch.
"I think I'm going to go back to school in the fall," I added a moment later, biting my lip. Lissa's eyes went wide and she sat up straight, a megawatt smile on her face.
"Are you serious?!"
I nodded with a laugh. "Yeah. Sofia will be nine months old by then, and I only have one more year. I mean, it may be rough the first few weeks, but I still have my old textbooks and notes, and a few of my classmates work nearby. I've already spoken to a few of them and they said that they would help me if I get stuck," I said happily. I was nervous when I contacted the school, but I was grateful that I brought it up to Dimitri.
Just like Alberta said, he wanted to give me everything. He was excited that I brought it up going back to school and we sat in his office for over an hour today just talking about how we would make it work when he should have in a meeting with Ivan. Once Ivan came busting into Dimitri's office and found out why he was late, Ivan seemed to relax a bit more, muttering to Dimitri to come find him when we were done.
"I think going back to school is a perfect idea, Roza," Dimitri said, tucking a few wayward curls behind my ear, "I think you'll realize you missed it more than you think you do."
Lissa got up from her place and came towards me, practically throwing herself at me as she wrapped her arms around my neck. I grunted with a laugh as we tipped sideways on the couch, laughing as we went down.
"I am so fucking proud of you," Lissa mumbled into my ear, "You have had so much shit thrown at you and you keep pushing ahead. I hope that if I ever go through a quarter of the hardship you have, that I will channel a little bit of you."
I squeezed Lissa a little tighter and smiled into her shoulder.
"Thank you," I said. Lissa nodded and sat up and went back to her spot on the couch beside Sofia.
"So. Where do you want to go? Birthday girl's choice!"
I rested back in the comfy chair with a small smile, sipping my hot chocolate while my eyes followed Dimitri's movements. Or rather lack of movement.
Four months into parenthood and aside from Valentine's Day, we hadn't had a chance to have a night out. Even if our night out was in a book store/café that Dimitri frequented when he moved to New York City and a movie. He found it by accident, but I could see the appeal. It was quiet with plush chairs and a cozy atmosphere, and the whole place smelled like fresh coffee and the addictive smell of paper and ink.
I watched Dimitri as he leaned back on the couch he was on, eyes scanning the pages of the book he found, his head propped up on his fist, hair falling into his face. I licked my lips and let a small sigh slip through my lips. That was all that was needed to pull Dimitri's focus from his book.
"What is it?" Dimitri asked, lifting his head from his hand.
I shook my head. "Nothing. Happy sigh," I said truthfully, reaching over and stroking his cheek with my hand. Dimitri raised a brow at me and caught my hand, slipping his fingers through mine and pulling me to sit with him. I snuggled into his side and read over his shoulders, screwing up my nose when I realized it was a western.
"If we are going to catch our movie, we need to leave shortly," I said into his ear, nipping the shell of it playfully. Dimitri chuckled and ran his fingers over my side, making me giggle and squirm away from him. I smirked at Dimitri when he lifted his head and pressed his lips to mine.
"Don't worry, I won't stand between you and Ryan Reynolds," Dimitri promised, pecking my lips again. I smile and snuggled back into his side, sipping my hot chocolate again.
I jumped when a hand clamped down on Dimitri's shoulder and a happy exclaim followed. Dimitri lifted his head and said something back in Russian, standing up and embracing the man behind us. I raised my brows, confused completely by the interaction and the familiarity of the man conversing with Dimitri. It took a few moments for the initial excitement to blow over before Dimitri turned to me.
"Adrik, this is my Roza. Roza, this is my cousin, Adrian," Dimitri said introducing us, clapping the man, Adrian's, shoulder. I stretched my hand out and shook Adrian's, giving him a friendly smile. But looking at him fulling, there was still something familiar about him.
"What does Adrik mean?"
"Oh, it's a nickname. Russian actually. It's what my cousins and extended family call me," Adrian said sinking down in the chair I previously sat in.
"Russian's have weird nicknames," I mumbled to myself, making bit Dimitri and Adrian laugh.
"Yes, I have to say 'Dimka' is a weird nickname," Adrian agreed, snickering at the eye roll Dimitri gave him. "I think that we've met before," Adrian said, tapping his fingers on the arm of the chair. I shrugged, I didn't disagree, but I couldn't place him. Adrian looked thoughtful and I chewed on my thumbnail as I tried to place him.
"Queens! You both went to Queens," Dimitri said a few moments later, the pieces starting to fall into place for him. Adrian raised his brows before scrunching them up.
"What year?" Adrian asked.
"2012 to 2015. I wasn't able to finish my program," I said, twisting my cup in my hands.
"I was only there in 2012. I had a bit of an altercation and decided that I wanted to go abroad for the remainder of my education."
I furrowed my brows. "Altercation? What, did you get caught cheating or something?"
"No," Adrian said shortly, tapping a cigarette case against his knee, "I beat the shit out of my roommate at my frat and was expelled."
My eyes widened and I looked at Dimitri, but he didn't seem all that surprised about this.
"You got expelled over that?"
"Yeah. I got expelled and my roommate got a slap on the wrist for roofying some poor girl. All because his father was buddy-buddy with the dean."
I felt my heart stutter in my chest before feeling like it dropped into my stomach. "What?"
"My roommate thought that a perfect ideal for rush would be to see how many people he could drug. He only managed one, but he… I didn't realize what was happening until the next day…"
I couldn't exactly hear what Adrian was saying anymore because what he already had said was hurtling my mind through a thousand different memories.
"What's wrong with her?" someone asked, their voice slightly distorted.
"Nothing, she's fine. Just drank too much, thought I'd bring her up here so she could lay down," someone else said, the voice that belonged to the man that had his arm around me. I could barely move on my own, but I was able to look at the new person, who looked concerned. He was young with messy brown hair and eyes that looked like a cat's. Bright and vibrant.
"You sure? Maybe we should get a cab for her to go home. She doesn't look so good."
"She's fine! Don't worry about it, Ivashkov."
"You were there in the hallway," I said quietly, holding Dimitri's hand in mine so tightly that it started to hurt.
Adrian frowned and looked between me and Dimitri as I stood up. "Excuse for me a second," I said quietly, making my way to the bathroom at the back of the shop. I stood against the counter in the bathroom and took a few long breaths, trying to push the rising urge to vomit down.
I didn't remember much from that night, whether I just couldn't remember, or I didn't want to remember, but now it was coming back to me in flashes.
And I realized that I really didn't want to remember, but there was no way to stop it now.
I heaved for a moment and clamped my hand over my mouth, willing myself to clear my thoughts and gripped the counter with my other hand. My body won over the and I barely had time to pull my hair back and bent over the toilet.
I kneeled on the dirty floor and whipped the back of my hand over my mouth when a knock on the door broke the silence in the room.
"Occupied!"
"Rose? Are you alright?"
I pushed myself off the floor and opened the door enough to look at Dimitri. "I'm fine."
"You're not," he said quietly, leaning against the wall beside him as he looked down at me, the corners of his lips turned down. "Was it something Adrian said?"
"Sort of, but I don't want to talk about it here, or right now. I can't," I said quietly, rubbing my cheeks where tears spilled from the pressure of vomiting. "I'll be out in a minute."
Dimitri nodded and stood up straight as I closed the door. I blew a breath roughly from my lips and rinsed my mouth out at the sink before walking out, finding both Adrian and Dimitri where I left them, both of them with worried looks on their faces. I gave them both a tight smile as I approached, giving one to Eddie from where he sat across the room. Adrian leaned forward in his seat, mouth working but no words came out. He looked alarmed and guilty.
I sank down into the couch beside Dimitri and took the cup he offered me with a thankful smile. I took a sip in hopes that it would ride the putrid taste in my mouth. The distinct taste of peppermint flooded my senses as I sipped from the cup.
"I'm sorry if I upset you, Rose," Adrian began but I put my hand up to stop him.
"Adrian, it's fine. You haven't done anything wrong."
"It was you at the party, wasn't it?" Adrian asked boldly, twisting the cigarette case between his hands. I nodded sharply and took another sip of the tea. Adrian seemed to understand that the subject needed to change and asked about a topic that was suitable for all parties.
"So. How is my new cousin? I don't believe I've seen any pictures of them yet," he said clapping his hands together, looking between the two of us with a smirk. I chuckled and watched Dimitri pull out his phone with a grin, excitedly looking through the many, many photos of Sofia on his phone.
It was touching really to see how much Sofia was his pride and joy. After passing the phone to Adrian to look through the photos, Dimitri pulled me close to him and kissed my cheek.
"She looks a lot like you," Adrian said a few moments later, "But she's got Dimitri's big ass forehead."
I sputtered into my cup, choking on my tea at Adrian's words.
"She does not have a big forehead," Dimitri chuckled, "And if any of us got our grandfather's big forehead, it's you."
Adrian rolled his eyes and leaned back in his chair.
"No. I think that would be our fathers.
I shook my head and drank the last of my tea, thankful that it washed away the last of the taste in my mouth. I looked down at my phone before nudging Dimitri's shoulder.
"We're going to be if we don't leave. We'll miss the previews," I said quietly. We both knew how much I loved the previews.
Dimitri nodded and kissed my cheek before helping me off the couch. Adrian stood up too and clapped Dimitri on the shoulder.
"We'll need to get together again soon. Preferably with better topics of conversation," Adrian said with an awkward look. Dimitri nodded and agreed, saying that he would text him in a few days and figure out a day. Adrian nodded and held his hand out to me. I gave him mine and shook it firmly. Adrian gave my hand a firm squeeze before heading out. I followed Dimitri out to the car and slipped into the passenger seat, resting my head against the headrest. Dimitri got into the driver's seat and slipped his hand into mine, bringing it to his lips and kissed my knuckles.
"Are you okay? Honestly?"
I frowned and squeezed his hand, resting our intertwined fingers in my lap. "I don't want to talk about it yet," I said quietly, "But when I am, you'll be the first to know."
Dimitri seemed unsatisfied but didn't push the subject, instead, he leaned over and brushed his lips over mine, the warmth of his lips gave me a rush of comfort. I leaned into the kiss and pressed my lips a litter firmer against his.
"I love you," I said, knowing that it wasn't what he wanted to know. Dimitri's eyes flicked to mine and he cupped my jaw and kissed me again.
"Ya tebya lyublyu," Dimitri said softly. I didn't need him to translate it for me. I had heard it enough times when he was extremely tired or trying to get me going when we were intimate. It was his native tongue and I knew what the words meant.
I leaned into his touch and gave him a soft smile. "If we make it on time, can we get popcorn?"
Dimitri chuckled and nodded his head, sitting properly in his seat. "Of course Roza."
Hello hello!
I know this chapter took longer than normal to be updated, but I have to admit that a few things stopped that from happening.
1. I've been going to a few doctor's appointments and had to get some more x-rays done.
2. I got a tattoo on my arm. And while I thought it was in a perfect spot, it is exactly where my arm rests against the stand I have for my laptop. So it is a little uncomfortable.
3. Work has been stressful and I've had next to no motivation to write.
4. And when I do have the motivation to write, I ended up scrapping this chapter three or four times lol
This chapter was only edited by me, and I apologize if there are any errors. MY eyes were starting to go crossed-eyed reading this chapter for the third time lol!
What do you all think of Adrian's entrance to the story?
Let me know what you think!:)
