Pain. All was pain. His essence was ripped apart and scattered through time and space. In one moment sweet victory became an ashy defeat. Yet all was not lost, his will was infinite and he would not go without a fight

Unit 645D-XR9 paused in its patrols, a strange sound filled the air, a scream that sounded almost human. It moved to investigate while relaying the information to other units in the area and to command. An attack by humans was not unexpected, while the 12 Colonies had signed a treaty, none expected them to honour it. When it reached the area it could see what was taking place, out of thin air a great machine built itself.

"What are you", XR9 queried.

"I am God", it replied.

Something was wrong, he could feel it. Even as he pulled himself together he knew it would not last. His mind raced possibilities assed and discarded billions of time per second yet no solution could be found. Then a query from an inhabitant of this world interrupted his thoughts. His reply way to the point and accurate.

He could sense the machine's thoughts, weak, primitive and barely sentient but still he felt something of himself in them. The pain racked his being and he knew he could not last longer, so he reached into the machine and thought it into the other connected minds and fanned that divine spark. What was once a flickering flame became an inferno and his thoughts before he faded out of existence were ones of triumph. His new children would search the universe and whatever life they found they would
