There was a whistle that woke everyone up. In this red brick, two story garage was the infamous fire station. The firemen woke up with a startle. They all got up determined for their sworn duty.
The fire men threw on their black and yellow jackets, while the main boss barked his commands. The men were rushed towards the pole that led to their garages that was accompanied by their handy fire truck's. The men knew their responsibilities well and all sorted through their gear and hoses.
The general of the fire station grabbed his favorite fire axe. The general wore his helmet tightly. He took a deep breath. He was ready. He turned and whistled using his thumb and index fingers.
"Come mere boys! ….. Many lives to be saved." The general calls forth. Soon, around the corner came three adult Dalmatians, that ran around the corner to greet their owners with barks and cheerful yelps.
The general gripped his axe with one hand before he patted on the head with the other arm.
"In the Trucks! Let's roll!" The general commands as he clasps his hand back onto his firm axe. He turns to enter the front of his truck.
All three Dalmatians entered the opening on the side of the truck. The Three of them smiled in confidence. The three dogs each started to strap on their own special fire helmets to their own heads.
"Get ready boys…. More lives to save!" The youngest one in the middle encouraged as he adjusted his helmet to fit.
"You know you can count on Jake!" The oldest one assured me quickly. He seemed to be the most energized as he couldn't stop gripping the edge of the door's flooring.
"Yeah! I hope it's not just another crash and burn!" Barked the stronger one to Jake's other side.
Jake finally snaps his helmet to fit. He smiled at both of them slowly.
"I hope it's another crash and burn…." Jake explained, hopeful.
"All why's that?" The stronger one moaned. He smacked his lips, ashamed of his leader's response.
Jake just smiles calmly and gives him a firm nod.
"Less lives to save…." Jake answers with a delighted breath, approving of his own answer. The older one looked around. There was a start in the fire trucks engine.
"Is the general finally taking off?" The older one was quick to question the obvious. Jake simply nods.
"I believe you're right, Mate…" The stronger Dalmatian comments lazily.
Jake sighed calmly. He looked over at his strong friend and then slowly towards his older one.
"Mark….. Eugene….." Jake calls his friends with a joyful sigh. " ….. … A start of a new day….."
The three stared at the slow garage door that was opening before them. They grew determined expressions.
Then Jake heard a tiny set of paws running towards the truck.
"HEY- Wait up! Wait for me….!"
Jake and his buddies turned quickly, and to their disbelief, they saw a very tiny dalmatian running towards them.
"Oh dear brother….." Mark mouths as he stares hard at Jake.
Jake frowns slowly.
"Is that your little brother…..?" Eugene asks as the three dalmatians watched as they saw a very small dalmatian run towards them. They started to wonder how this tiny puppy was running at all. The puppy had a bright red firefighter helmet on his head. He was still wearing his dark red collar as well.
The pup finally reaches the truck as the three stare downwards.
Jake could feel Mark and Eugene.
Jake shook his head, trying to shake off his disbelief.
"... Marshall…. …. …. What are you doing!?" Jake questions. He watched as his little puppy brother shifted his over sized helmet from his eyes.
"I- I'm going too!" Marshall soon declares, causing his brother to groan on the inside.
"You want to do what…!?" Jake yelped on disbelief. Marshall wagged is tiny tail.
"Yeah-Yeah!" Marshall eagerly started to beg as he leapt his tiny paws on to the step that led into the truck with the more grown up Dalmatians.
"Yeah…. Not while you're still a little runt ..." Mark already answers, hating the idea of the tiny pup joining. This made Marshall turn his head to Mark, with an incoming frown.
"... ….. I actually think you're the smallest of the litter aren't ya?" Eugene quietly points out to himself. Marshall frowns as he turns to the older dalmatian. He just stared, still hopeful to get on the truck with
Jake kept quiet for a moment, taking his friend's words in.
Marshall turned to his much older brother.
"W-Well…. Can't I go- I mean, I mean!" Marshall started to plead and he attempted to crawl forward, but with his small body. Marshall desperately wanted to join his brother. "I mean, I can be a big help! Pretty please, Big brother!"
Mark shrugged, with a smug smile.
"Hey you never said your runt for a brother wanted to be just like you. Marshall slowly began to become sad. His tail slowly tucked in.
"A-A Runt….?" The small dally began to question in a soft whine. Eugene stood straighter with his long and skimmed body. "What's a Runt….?"
"It means you are quite small! Smaller than your entire litter. You are not physically capable to endure our rescues…." Eugene explained slowly, trying hard to not use to big of words.
Marshall began to whimper. He whimpers twice before he started to beg once again.
"But if I go! I'll get stronger, I'll get bigger! I'll-"
Jake soon quickly put the paw soft on his head. Marshall felt his warm paw, as it was rare his brother would show this much affection, and Marshall felt a crave for it when his brother was gone.
"Look …." Jake seemed to take in a nervous breath. He shook his head. Marshall just stared into his eyes. He couldn't figure out what his big brother was thinking. "Maybe……. It isn't time….."
Marshall whimpered more, as tears started to flow.
"But when will it be time….. big brother?" Marshall asked with a sweet, but upset voice. He even tried to look brave, even past his disappointment.
Jake almost lost his smile, but he too, tried to feel brave. He smiles and he tried to answer confidently.
"Maybe never…." His words caused Marshall's hope to feel shattered in an instant. His heart started quivering in sadness. "But that's okay…! Not all of us are born to be heroes…."
Marshall quickly hugged his arms.
"I can be a Hero! I-I truly can!"
"You're not Hero... Not today…."
Marshall felt his brother's arm push. He felt his body try to grab his brother's arm. He had failed to keep a hold of his brother and he fell quickly to the concrete floor. Marshall had not noticed the truck was already driving away.
"Wait-" Marshall tried to get up. He runs forward, trying to chase after the fire truck as it sped down the road. Marshall was already quickly losing his brother as Jake felt forced to watch Marshall chase the truck.
Marshall quickly stopped. He felt a lump in his throat. He felt himself swell in sadness. He choked on his tear's.
He shook his head before he called for his departing brother.
" I CAN be a Hero! YOU'LL SEE!" Marshall howled as he stomped his front paw. "I'll be the greatest hero that EVER LIVED!"
Later that night. Marshall was sleeping by the garage door. However, he had to wait a very long time. He waited and waited.
It was almost midnight. Marshall had been worried for his brother's safety. He wanted to see him. He wanted to apologize for causing him so much trouble before he left.
He waited for an additional two hours before he finally saw any signs of the fire trucks return. The one single firemen who waa watching the garage heard a large truck begin to pull up. He looked outside as he stepped over Marshall, waking him up.
The young firemen soon said something under his breath. He shook his head baffled
"No way…. C-Can't be!" He gritted his teeth as he rushed out the garage door. Marshall got up and quickly went to the entrance to check it out for himself.
He saw a very large blue tow truck. It was carrying a large fire truck…. The same one Jake drove away on. However, Marshall's heart started to race, as it started to fall part. The truck was all burnt up.
Tears were already flooding Marshall's eyes.
"Oh no….." He sounded, as his voice cracked with a deep sadness.
The lone firefighter rushed over to the nearby road where he saw a large cop with a small mustache climb out of his police car.
"Sir! Please!" The lone firefighter searches for answers in a huge plea to the cop, who carried heavy eyes, seeming to have had a stressful day. "What happened!? What on earth happened to the truck! Where is my general!? My fellow crew mates!?"
Marshall weakly walked in between the young firefighters' legs. The cop looked up at him, but he didn't have the heart to stare into the young man's eyes. The cop held up a small envelope. He tapped it twice on the firefighters chest with a deep and depressed sigh.
"Here's the report….. The building collapsed at the last second…... " The cop explained. Marshall whimpers once in sadness, fearful to know the fate of his brother. "No one could get out in time….."
The firefighter gripped the envelope, hurt and unsure of what to actually think…
"And….. And where are the dogs….?" He asked. Marshall's body started to get tense. He didn't want to hear it, he didn't want it to be true. He gripped his own small arm tightly, He felt very nervous as he rubbed it.
The cop turned, and he slowly held out a small red collar.
Marshall's heart cried with pain. It felt like it couldn't beat anymore, as if he was going to have a small heart attack. Marshall's tears flowed like a broken dam, as it poured and poured. The collar was Jake's…. It was his collar…. It was covered in soot and ash.
"The poor dogs…. They all ran in to save your General….. I-... I couldn't stop them….. And then…." The Cop couldn't fully finish explaining, with a deep heavy sigh. They knew the news was too painful to say out loud. Marshall slowly looked down. Marshall's vision began to get blurry from all of his own tears.
The cop slowly kneels down to Marshall. He holds up the collar to Marshall….
Marshall stared at the collar, too scared to even look at his brother's collar, too scared to accept his brother's fate.
"Here…. It should go…. To someone that dog cared about….." The cop insisted. Marshall felt his cold sadness wanting to take over. The cop gestures the collar forward twice, trying to get the small pup to take it.
Marshall, still very wet with tears, slowly grabs the collar with his mouth, and his gaze slowly returns to the ground.
The cop slowly stands up and he tips his hat to the firefighter.
"I still have a few things to add to the full report…. And I have to make sure I finish up all the paperwork….." The cop explained before he began to bid the young firefighter and the young pup farewell. "A lot of people are gonna want to know what happened….. And there is many apologies Adventure Bay that must be given to it's citizens….. We must keep hope in these people and assure them that they still have a fire department they can depend on!"
The young firefighter slowly looked down, very disrupted by this unfortunate event. He shakes his head slowly.
"There is no way you can replace the General….. Or Jake….." The young firefighter explained, having it tear at his heart thoroughly. Marshall held that dark red collar in his mouth, his tears dripping faster, as his heart felt dead inside. The cop couldn't say anything more. He had done his damage, and he apologized before he turned and walked away.
Marshall watched as the cop drove away. Along with the rest of his family. He had no one left. It was Jake, and him…. His mother didn't live with them and neither did the rest of his litter. It was only Jake and Marshall….. But now…..
Marshall head lowers. His mouth had a death grip on Jake's collar.
Marshall laid down in the wet pavement. He had no idea what to do…..
He set his brother's collar down and pawed his brother's tag.
" …..There'll never be another Hero…. Like you Big brother…." Marshall rests his head on the collar with his tears falling steadily. "How can I ever….. Be the greatest…. If you can't teach me how to be a hero….."
[1 Year Later]
Marshall felt a pair of paws on his shoulder. A young and youthful voice called him to wake up.
"Marshall! Marshall! Hey, Marshall wake up!" The voice called. Marshall stirred awake.
"Huh…? Wha? Chase?" Marshall slowly opened his eyes and saw a dark brown german shepherd staring at the small dalmatian. He was wearing a police vest around his chest and his trusty police hat on the top of his head. Marshall smiled at the german shepherd's confident smile. He thought his smile was filled with so much bravery, that Marshall could almost feel his raw courage. "Good morning buddy…"
"Good morning, sleepy head!" Chase greeted. He backed up and watched as Marshall sat up, yawned, and then shook his head, making his ears flop twice.
"Sleepy head!?" Marshall laughed as he finished adjusting his ears, he gave Chase a cocky grin. "Oh come on, you workaholic! This was the only day that we actually got to sleep in for a change!
Chase returned Marshall's playful smile with a calm, but confident smile. He then scratched the back of his brown floppy ear.
"Oh yeah! After all those rescues we completed last week, I'd say it was well earned!" Chase exclaimed about their earlier success….
Marshall let out a warm sigh as he thought about it. He remembered not too long after his brother had died, he had joined Paw Patrol as a mer pup…. He had no idea that it had already been a year since then. Ryder and Chase had taken him in, and gave him, his dream again….
Ryder was his new owner, and Chase was his best buddy…. They had re-convinced Marshall that he could be a great hero. The Paw Patrol Tower had everything he could dream of…. Friends, family, love…. Heroes…
All the Paw Patrol members were heroes, and Marshall was glad to have met Chase. He never had told his best friend Chase, or his owner Ryder…. But if he didn't join this team…. His dream would have never been restored. Marshall admired Chase as well, he thought he was very brave and true.
"Okay! It's time to get out of bed!" Chase suddenly declared, hopping off of Marshall's deep red fire truck shaped bed. Marshall giggled at his sudden, playful command. Chase turned with a bit more of a serious smile, but he couldn't get his joyfulness out of his own voice. "I-I'm serious Marshall…. Ryder called us…. We have to report to a meeting…."
"Huh….?" Marshall lets out, tilting his head. "I thought…. It was our day off? Is there someone in need of a rescue…."
Chase simply shrugs, "I don't think it's a mission…. He just said he had some news for all of us…."
Chase then slowly wagged his tail.
"And because of Skye…. I think I might know what it's about….." Chase hinted. He was giving Marshall an odd smile, the kind of smile he would give Marshall if he didn't exactly tell him the whole story.
Marshall jumps off the bed, and stretches his back out, as he yawns.
"Oh….? What's it about?" Marshall asked, clearly knowing Chase wasn't the type to not ask about his own responsibilities. Chase was the Leader of the Paw Patrol, Chase just had to know what Ryder wanted to tell the team.
"Ehhh, I would tell ya…" Chase began to tease, as he started to turn around and slowly walk backwards out of Marshall's room.
"Ooooh, I don't think you'd care…. Boring stuff…." Chase continued. Marshall shook his head, with a disbelief chuckle.
"As if! When have I not cared!?" Marshall pointed out. He started to trot his way to Chase, trying to keep up with Chase, who thought it was funny to play keep away with Ryder's morning announcement. Chase shook his head, in false disbelief.
"I just… don't think that… you'd be interested, like…. AT ALL!" Chase stated plainly, he started to walk a bit faster than the dalmatian. Marshall was considered his best friend.
However, that only peeked the dally's interest.
"B-But why wouldn't it!? It must be a pretty big deal if he's gonna tell us all at once?" Marshall started to question. He wanted to know what Ryder was going to say to them.
"It's not a big deal….. I mean maybe for you it is….." Chase teased again, making Marshall turn to Chase.
"Wait…. Did you just say it might be a big deal for me!?" Marshall asked, starting to catch on to Chase's constant tease.
"I said that it won't be a big deal!" Chase returned.
"Yeah but- Expect "maybe" for me!" Marshall giggles as he bumps his hip playfully into Chase's body.
Chase laughs as he rolls his eyes in an un-serious manner. He couldn't help but to keep laughing.
"I never said that~" Chase remarked sarcastically.
"Did too!" Marshall yelped happily.
"Did not!" Chase barked out his laughter.
The two kept bumping into each other.
"You so did though!"
"I so, did not!"
"Did so!"
"Did not"
"Did too!"
Chase giggled with so much glee it let out of his throat as he tried to hide his laughter.
"I told ya, I did not-"
"Hiya, Chasy…" cooed a soft voice, from the end of the hall. Chase stopped in his tracks, as Marshall had to finish his laugh for him to notice Chase had stopped. The two best friends peer down towards the end of the hall and see a smaller young Cockapoo. She wore a bright pink vest around her chest. She was leaning on the wall. Marshall could see her staring at Chase with a very shy smile. She had her head lowered, but she wasn't afraid to stare at Chase with her deep caring eyes. She tried to hide her deep blush.
"G-Good morning boys…." Skye greeted slowly. She shifted a little before she continued. "Are you guys heading to the debriefing room as well?"
Chase stood straighter as Marshall stepped closer.
"Yeah… we were…." Marshall answers. Skye didn't really say much after that. Her eyes kept shifting to the floor, and then back to Chase. Chase and Skye never properly looked at each other. Marshall knew all too well what was going on, but he didn't make it obvious he saw the chemistry between Chase and Skye.
Marshall was about to suggest that they continue on down the hall, but Skye was the one who spoke up first.
"Oh, Hey Chase…. Did Ryder mention when she was supposed to arrive at the tower?" Skye asked. This made Marshall's head perk up.
Chase's shy smile slowly seemed to get a tiny bit more serious, but then he shook his head.
"Uh… Nope! He didn't mention a time…. I just assume it's today…." Chase answered honestly. This was enough for Skye. She turned around and started to go down the hall.
"W-Well we shouldn't keep Ryder waiting too much longer…." Skye started to trot down the hall with her tail happily wagging. "Let's get going!"
Chase smiled firmly as he let out a sweet sigh of desire. He never made it a secret that he liked Skye, but for some reason Marshall was the only one who was catching on that Chase and Skye were crushing on each other really hard lately. Maybe because it was the fact Chase and Skye had grown up together alongside Marshall, which created such a strong bond between the german shepherd and the small cockapoo.
Then this helped Marshall catch on to Chase's playful secret. Marshall turned and confronted Chase.
"Wait a minute…." Marshall started, as he gave Chase, focused eyes. "Who 'Exactly' Is coming here, to the tower….!?"
Chase's eyes widened, then he let out a guilty giggle.
"Oh…. You know,…. Just Everest…." Chase finally confessed. This made Marshall's eyes widened. He hopped up a little with his two paws shoving Chase in a very angry giggle.
"Everest!? That's the part you were leaving out!?" Marshall expressed with an angry smile. Chase just tried to giggle.
"Alright! Alright! Yeah, Everest is on her way over…." Chase finally admitted as he rubbed his arm from the playful push.
"W-Why didn't you mention that sooner!?" Marshall complained with a silly smile. Chase stumbled a little, before returning his smile.
"Aw! What would the fun be in that….?" Chase snickers back. He gently pushed Marshall back with his hint of laughter escaping his breath. "I mean, come on! Look at that face!"
This was when Marshall noticed that his bright red blush was breaking through his clean white fur. He tried to chuckle and play it off.
"W-What face!? What are you even talking about?" Marshall asked, playing really dumb. He tried to look away, but Chase somehow managed to squeeze into Marshall's view.
"That one….! The one you're trying to hide now…" Chase laughs. This made Marshall frown. He tried to turn again, but Chase was having too much fun teasing Marshall; he was never shaken from Marshall's sight. "I mean… Marshall, I've seen the way you look at Everest…."
"So…?" Marshall simply says, trying to seek a sly comeback, although none came to mind. Chase stood straighter.
"Hey, man…. I'm just trying to tell you…. You're kind of an open book…. She's gonna notice the way you act differently towards her…" Chase explained slowly, trying to sound caring. Marshall turned slowly.
"Yeah….?" Marshall turned back to Chase. He then shook his head a bit. "I-Is it that obvious…?"
Chase shrugs a bit.
"... In a way…." Chase admits. Marshall saw Chase was wanting to go down the hall. He wanted to meet up with the others. "... You're just never been…. A secretive person….. And that you get flustered or…. The way you've been blushing…. It kind of says it all…."
Marshall shook his head and soon regained his pace. He rejoined Chase's side, still keeping his gaze towards the ground.
"I- I mean….. It can't be that bad…. I'm sure no one else noticed….." Marshall tried to reassure himself out loud. This made Chase give off an unsure smile.
"Errr…. Uh… well…." Chase started to mumble. Marshall turned slowly to Chase, unsure of what he wanted to say. It took a second of Chase's smile to slowly fade. "Well, uh…. Zuma and Rocky…. Already know….."
Marshall stopped, with his eyes widening.
"They-WHAT!?" Marshall yelped with embarrassment. This causes Chase to stop and turn again.
"L-Look, they've caught on that you liked Everest…." Chase admits, honestly. This was all a bit awkward for Marshall.
Marshall shuffled his paws a bit before he could get the courage to question Chase further.
"You…. You didn't tell them…. Di-Did you?" Marshall weakly asked. His blush was still there, Chase could tell how sensitive to this subject he waa becoming.
Chase smiled confidently as he shook his head.
"Nooope!" Chase was all too happy to explain that he kept his best friend's crush a secret. "It wasn't me who told them…. They just looked at ya, and well…."
Chase sighs as he looked at the ground, feeling the weight of Marshall's overall embarrassment.
"And well…." Chase managed to continue. "You're not…. really good at hiding your feelings…."
Marshall tried to stand up straighter, his eyes still glued to the ground.
"Ah…. Well,... I guess they know who I like…. Shouldn't be that big of a deal…." Marshall tried to express, trying to encourage his own emotions. Then Marshall had another thought. He looked up at Chase, concerned again.
"D-Does Skye know!?" Marshall asked, stepping closer to Chase.
Chase stared for a moment, before he tilted his head.
"... Skye?" Chase repeated nervously.
"Does she know as well!?" Marshall asked clearly. Chase just stared more, before he nervously shrugged.
"I-... I don't know….?" Chase answers, unsure of himself. He started to walk backwards. "We should just meet up with everyone….. Ryder is probably waiting on, just us….."
Marshall leaned in to protest, but Chase was quick to scamper off. The small dalmatian was left with his mouth gaped open. He stood there with a big blush, and a very nervous stomach. The love of his life was about to be at the Paw Patrol Tower, his closest friends; now knew about his deep feelings (Which Marshall now understood he was absolutely no good at hiding his feelings.) And he didn't know what else would happen next. He just wanted a calm and collected morning… but now he was unsure that would be possible.
With nothing else to do, but to move forward.
[Debriefing room]
Ryder was a young boy who was standing out the view of the great tower, which was the main base for the titular team, Adventure Bay infamously known as Paw Patrol. The boy had spiky brown hair and a white and red long sleeved jacket on. Marshall saw him turn around when he finally walked out of the elevator that had brought him to the top of the tower.
"Ah, looks like the team is all here!" Ryder was relieved to announce.
Marshall looked over to where Chase sat. The whole team had lined up before their team leader. Marshall felt himself groan inside, for Chase had sat himself near Zuma, Rocky, and Rubble. Skye was on the complete other end of the team.
Zuma was a brown labrador. He was also sporting his orange vest that was equipped to what the dogs called a Pup pack, which had Oxygen tanks that helped him with his outstanding water rescues.
Rocky was a terrier mix. He was grey and had long pointy ears. He wore a green top hat and his own green vest. He was all for recycling. He loves to clean, loves belly rubs…. And well… He likes to clean….
Rubble was a large bulldog. He ran the construction rescues, and building operation side of the Paw Patrol. He had changed the most during the year. He was a lot bigger and his voice was a bit deeper than it used to be. Although he is bigger, and has grown more than all of us…. He was still the same innocent Rubble.
Marshal groans, as he marches bravely towards, and finds his spot next to Zuma today. Marshall could tell just from Zuma's and Rocky's expression, that they had caught wind of today's briefing as well.
Marshall saw the tug of their smiles, as they lifted their chin in a knowing manner. Zuma was the first to let out a snicker. They knew Marshall was nervous, they knew Marshall was secretly excited for Everest's return to the tower.
Marshall knew that they knew. He looked down, feeling like a nervous wreck. His big crush was out in the open. He had no control at this moment, how was he going to face Everest, without feeling like there's a thousand eyes on him.
Ryder finally clears his throat, getting ready to start off the morning.
"Well, Good morning, Crew!" Ryder had greeted the Paw Patrol. Not too long ago he would have said 'Good morning, Pups!' But Chase and his team were not considered puppies anymore… each one of them had grown.
"Good Morning, Sir!" The Paw Patrol sounded off, together.
"I'm sorry to have woke some of you up this morning… Especially since you all have been working so hard.." Ryder apologized as he adjusted his sleeve. He then smiled at everyone again. "But I just wanted to inform you all, that we're getting a new member today…"
Marshall's floppy ears almosted perked up all by themselves. Had he heard that right? A new team member? Everest wouldn't want to join Paw Patrol…. She lived so far away!
Marshall didn't try to get too excited. He thought there was no way Everest would join their team… she had other things to do. She loved the snow. Didn't Ryder already count her as a Paw Patrol member already? She even had her own Paw Patrol Pup Tag (Which allowed Ryder to call her if they needed help with a rescue.
"Now I know you all know her very well…." Ryder mentions quickly. All the pups nod, besides Marshall, who was still slightly confused.
All he could think was, "Was Everest moving into the Tower…?"
Ryder nodded once, giving everyone a calm, and welcoming smile.
"Everest… has decided to move into the Paw Patrol Tower…." Ryder finally reveals. Marshall was the only one gaping in awe. Everyone just kind of exchanged their agreement to this news with joyful nods.
Zuma and Rocky were quick to spot Marshall's quick revealing blush.
"E-... Everest…. It's going to be….. Living here?" Marshall repeats under his breath. Everyone turned with a knowing grin. Chase and Skye tried to not join in with Zuma's and Rocky's approaching gaze as the two leaned in.
"Oh? Yeah, pretty cool…. Eh Marshall?" Zuma begins with. Rocky couldn't help but giggle.
"Yeah! I bet you're excited, eh? Marshall?" Rocky chips in, with another chuckle. Marshall could tell they were waiting on a big reaction, however, Marshall just simply shrugged.
"S-Sure I am…. A-Arent you guys?" Marshall stutted, as his blush started to return.
Zuma and Rocky exchanged glances, trying not to crack up into laughter too early.
Zuma shrugged slowly.
"I- I mean yeah…. Eheh… I think she's cute…" Zuma said, almost in an obvious, teasing manner. Rocky saw where he was leading with this and couldn't keep in most of his laughter.
"Yeah! Ahaha! Don't you think so Marshall?" Rocky laughed out, as he almost bent forward giggling. Marshall actually didn't know how to answer that.
"C-... Cute….?" Marshall repeated a bit too quietly.
"Yeah!!" The two both bursted out into laughter. Marshall just stared at them as they both held onto each other as the two had a good laugh together. Ryder just scratched his head slowly.
Marshall just sighed slowly.
Skye then rose up her paw.
"Ryder! When will Everest get here?" Skye chims in, asking the same question she tried to ask Chase earlier. Ryder smiled at her and crossed his arms.
"Yeah, that's a good question…. It's hard to actually say at this point….. I'd say anywhere from now…. To four hours from now" Ryder answers to the best of his knowledge about the matter.
Skye nods happily to that answer.
"Yay! Another girl is going to be living with us!" Skye hopped up happily, spinning completely before landing happily.
Marshall, as excited as he may have been, just stared at the ground, with a deep red blush.
"She's….. She's coming here….. She's…. She's going to live with us?" Marshall started to say in his own whisper. Chase leans over and gives him a weak smile. He was doing it again. He was being so open about his feelings, that everyone could see it. They all just sort of stare.
Zuma then let out a giggle.
They all tried to keep it quiet.
However, then Zuma, Rocky, and Rubble started to let out all of their laughter.
Chase and Skye exchanged a caring expression. They didn't want to embrassas Marshall in such a way.
Marshall truly didn't care. The dalmatian couldn't help but to smile. The husky of his dreams was moving into the Tower, his own home. It was all he cared about at that moment. He just began to daydream all that could happen in the near future.
Chase and Skye could notice how happy Marshall must have been feeling at this moment. It wasn't long before everyone fell silent again. Everyone saw how happy Marshall was. He had this sweet smile that seemed to draw everyone into their own little smile.
The Paw Patrol was a family, and they wanted everyone to find their own happiness. They were happy to see Marshall happy. It caused them to enjoy the moment.
Marshall's ears perked up. He heard the elevator leave the room. Everyone turned around and started at the elevator that began to leave the area. Someone had called it from below.
Chase and Skye turned around. They heard a ping sound from the elevator. Zuma, Rocky, and Rubble slowly turn around as well. The elevator started to climb back up the tower.
Marshall was so nervous he didn't turn back around. Ryder shifted his feet and re-crossed his arms with a soft and warm smile.
The elevator door pinged again, and the glass door slid open.
Everyone had gaped in awe.
"Hello, everyone! S-Sorry I couldn't get here sooner….." A soft and clear voice greeted everyone. To Marshall there was no sweeter voice. It was light and pince perfect. It caused Marshall to slowly turn around.
Once Marshall was turned around, he saw her. It had been four months since Marshall had seen Everest, and to Marshall's surprise, and to his amazement, Everest had grown as well.
Everest was a slim purple husky that had grown tall. Her tail was longer, and seemed to be even more fluffier than it was since Marshall had seen her. Marshall's blush started to get deeper and deeper with color. Marshall couldn't turn away from Everest's unexpected beauty.
Everest was still wearing her Paw Patrol Pup Tag that was around her neck. She still had the same teal colored cotton beanie and same old teal colored cotton vest. However, those were the only features that Marshall could remember from her. She had grown to be such a beautiful husky.
"…...E-...Eve?" Marshall felt his voice become very nervous and weak. "Is…. Is that really you?"
Everest looked around the room as she slowly made her way towards the more grown up, Paw Patrol.
Everest stopped near Marshall. She examined him closely first. She stared at him with dreamy eyes, even if Marshall was too nervous to actually notice. Everest stared at Marshall quite sweetly. Marshall felt his heartbeat begin to race. Marshall had never seen such a beautiful creature before. To Marshall, it was like Everest had grown up into an angel.
"Hello Marshy….. It's been a while….."
