Out of Hiding
Crouched between an outbuilding and a fence, Starsky could hear footsteps approaching his hiding place. He silently wiped the sweat from his forehead with the back of his hand. His legs were beginning to cramp, but he knew if he stood his location would be given away. He hoped Hutch was safe. He looked around the corner of the building. Thirty yards to safety. Normally he could sprint that distance with no trouble, but there was no cover and he didn't want to chance it.
The footsteps stopped at the wall opposite of where Starsky was hidden. He held his breath. He heard Hutch's voice and knew that he had been captured. Damn. Starsky had no choice now. He had to go for it. He stood slowly, flexing his legs, trying to work out the cramps. He took a deep breath.
Starsky ran for all he was worth. Ten yards. Twenty yards. He felt his right ankle give and he fell to the ground. He could hear Hutch yelling. He slowly stood and tried to walk, knowing he was no match for his captor.
He was grabbed from behind. He slowly turned around.
"Gotcha Uncle Dave. You're It!" Rosie grinned.
