Megan in love
Chapter 1: Making Plans
It was a beautiful day in the town known as Hillwood and love is in the air.
Spring is here and many people were bitten by the love bug, especially the students at a nearby college that was just outside of Hillwood.
The campus was crawling with couples or people admiring from afar.
In a certain library, a young, 18 year old girl was no different as she was in the middle of having a tutoring session with a boy whom she has become rather close to.
It's Megan Gertrude Shortman and the boy with her is Albert Matthews, a pre-law student and the guy who has been tutoring her for the last couple of months.
Right now, he is helping her study for her chemistry class again.
"Now, can you tell which are the only solid elements that assume liquid form at room temperature?..."Albert asked.
"Those are bromine and mercury..."Megan said without missing a beat.
Albert smiled.
"Very good...looks like your ready for your test..."Albert said and Megan smiled proudly.
"All that extra sessions this last week really helped..."Megan said, still blushing a bit.
True, she has a test coming up...but part of the reason she had more sessions with Albert was for a...less than academic reason.
The real reason is simple...she's in love with him.
Yeah, strange at it seems but Megan is in love with this pre-law student since the day of their second tutoring session when he finally stood up to her and called her out for some stuff that she had to own up to. After he did that, she apologized and they started over and he had been her steady tutor since then and he also become something much more special to her.
They could even call each other friends now, despite their rocky start...though Megan hoped for more soon.
"So, Albert...after I take my test...wanna get some coffee with me to celebrate?..."Megan asked, trying to be casual as her tutor packed his things.
"Sure, I'll meet you at the coffee shop at the usual time..."He said, since chemistry was Megan's last class of the day.
Megan tried hard not to grin in triumph and just smiled and nodded.
"Sounds great..."She said as on the inside, she was gone for him.
The Next Day
Megan had just received her exam grade and ran out of class to where Albert was.
"I got an A plus..."Megan said in excitement as she ran to him and proudly showed him the test.
Albert saw this and smiled.
"Congratulations Megan, I knew you could do it..."Albert praised and made the blonde girl blush again.
"Well...like I said...you helped me a lot..."She said shyly before regaining her composure. "So...uh...the coffee..."She said and the two soon went together to the coffee shop.
Later
The two college students were now getting coffee together, which had become one of their things to do whenever Megan gets a passing grade.
They just sat their, got their coffee and talked about all sorts of stuff, not just about school work.
It was during this time that Megan learned more about Albert as a person. She learned that he was also born in Hillwood but had attended PS. 117 as a kid. She learned that he is also on scholarship and has big aspirations to be a big shot lawyer and the other job was his backup career. She also learned that he doesn't like seeing people waste their potential or people who waste his time or disrespect him, which she had learned the hard way but they had since made up and started over.
She also learned some minor but interesting stuff like his favorite color is green and he likes ice cream, animals and is really, really smart. He was top of his class at his old high school and wants to start his own law firm after graduating.
It made Megan more fascinated with him when they had these talks. Right now, they are talking about their plans.
"So, I'm planning on visiting my parents this weekend..."Albert said.
"Me too...my brother Andy is coming to visit and my folks want the whole family there..."Megan said. "You know, since we're heading to the same direction...you wanna hang out a bit there. You could even meet him..."Megan offered.
Albert blinked at the offer and thought it over.
True, he and Megan have hung out a few times when they weren't tutoring but this is different. She's inviting him to come over to her family's home and hang out there.
"Does your mom still hate me?..."Albert asked, since he and Mrs. Shortman didn't exactly have the warmest relationship.
Megan thought about it and cringed.
After Albert quit the first time, Megan spent a while trying to convince her parents to keep him in their employ and her mother didn't want to but gave in when Megan managed to get her dad on her side and Albert apologized from blowing his fuse. They kept him as Megan's tutor, only on the condition that something like that never happens again but Mrs. Shortman still didn't seem to think too kindly of him, no matter what Megan said to her mother.
"Uh...well...uh...not completely...but she'll be too busy being happy about having the whole family together to notice..."Megan said sheepishly.
Albert wasn't so sure about that.
"I don't know..."Albert said, unsure.
"Come on Albert, I know you're not afraid of my mom and my dad forgave you after I told them what really happened. It's all good..."Megan insisted.
The truth is, the reason she wants him to come is because she wants to spend more time with him without schoolwork being involved. She also wants to see if maybe...this time...she can get him to notice her as more than just the girl he tutors.
Albert, unaware of what she had been thinking, thought about what she said and sighed.
"Alright, I guess I can stop by for a little bit..."Albert said and Megan smiled widened.
"Awesome..."Megan said, happy.
