TITLE: Keep
Tryin'
RATING: PG-13 for continuous cursing.
# OF
WORDS: 400 or more.
SUMMARY: If at
first you don't succeed, try, try again.
NOTES: This is freeverse. Goes thru
entire DMC timeline. Inspired by Utada Hikaru's Keep
Tryin'.
DISCLAIMER: Not mine.
I don't care about
anything, of course not.
Just pizza, tomato juice, and killing
stuff dead.
But then you came back, after a whole year of not
knowing if you were even alive.
I should have been glad to
see to you, glad to see that you're okay.
If it weren't for the
fact that you tried to open the gates to Hell.
And tried to steal
my amulet, and stabbed me several times.
But like the idiot I was,
I kept trying to get you back.
You ended up trapped in the
Underworld.
And I cried for you, even
if you were a prick.
Years pass by, and I hardly think of you.
Really.
Work distracts me enough, and so did a flying motorcycle
coming my way.
Saw a babe that looked like Mom, kinda weirded me
out.
But she said some asshole Dad fought was being resurrected.
Well, can't let that
happen; There wouldn't be any more booze.
Went to some island,
kicked major ass (of course), and saw you… again.
I wasn't
sure at first but something nagged me in the back of my mind.
Should've paid more
attention to it, cuz I fucked you up pretty bad.
And to add on
even more angst, that sonuvabitch almost killed Trish.
Killed the
motherfucker and left.
Sure, I saved the world
from certain doom… but I didn't get the reward I wanted: you.
But I'll keep on trying,
cuz I know you're still out there somewhere.
Now I'm thinking about
you too much.
I can't even be decisive anymore, relying on a
coin to make my decisions.
Heh, I sound like TwoFace,
don't I?
But another opportunity to
see you comes.
Another psycho tries to
get some "ultimate" power again.
Doesn't matter to me, I'll
just kill the fucker and go through the gates of Hell again.
Maybe
I'll find you, after all this time.
Just gotta keep
trying.
Funny how everyone imagines Hell to be all fire and
brimstone.
It's fucking freezing here!
But I know you're
nearby; this weather suits you.
Too bad I'll be dragging
you back this time.
I won't let you get
away, not after all these years of trying.
After all, I'm one
stubborn bastard… right, Vergil?
