Hello, dear Fan Fiction readers. Welcome to my new story, as promised. Like I mentioned on my profile page, I'm continuing my quadrilogy. This story acts as a direct sequel to both Insidous: Chapter 2 and to my first story, Deliver Me from Evil. It is centered around Elaiel's friend, Aella, and her story arc for this quadrilogy. The first chapter of this story will be connected to the other stories and will tie in all the characters into a catalyst storyline that may lead to something bigger than this quadrilogy. That is why said first chapter will appear at the beginning of the next two stories. I don't know, we shall see how things go.

Secondly, as I did in Deliver Me from Evil, I'm once again attributing faces to my characters. Aella 'will be played', so to speak, by actress Ellen Hollman. I will remind you the appearance of the rest of the characters as the story goes. As a disclaiming note, I am in no way connected to any of the actors/actresses mentioned here, I do not own any rights to the Insidious franchise and I am in no way attempting any copyright infringement if there are similarities to other stories or storylines, here on Fan Fiction. My only goal is to put down my vision and sharing it with others. That is all.

This is my first attempt at writing horror, in the true 'Insidious' style. So you'll have to bear with me if it seems like it's dragged on or unoriginal. I really hope you'll enjoy it. Nevertheless, let's not waste anymore time and dive in.

PROLOGUE

It was night. Because of it, the house lay quiet. Undisturbed by cars passing by, once in a while, on the adjacent road, it continued its unshaken slumber in stillness and content. Inside, no sound was heard at all. Silence reigned in every corner, every crevice, every place that bloomed with a myriad of noises during the day. And despite the serene, comforting and pleasant atmosphere, the house was hardly a haven of peace and tranquility one would expect from a home at this hour of the night.

The air was heavy and thick, cursed with a sort of restless tension, fouled by an unseen, malevolent force bent on absolute harm. If the house inhabitants were not soundly sleeping, they would surely detect the anxiety inducing uneasiness that roamed around. Every shadow seemed darker than normal, much more frightening and dangerous, ready to snatch anything that dared approach it and send it to a void of unspeakable and unimaginable terrors. Whatever speck of light that entered the house was via the windows, from the street posts outside. But it proved to be an unworthy challenge to the darkness inside, quickly met and dispatched without difficulty. It was as if the light simply struck a brick wall and could not go any further. It could not go through.

Everything in the house lay suspiciously still, as if petrified by fear. The usual cracks and snaps one would hear followed by the typical explanation that it is just the house settling itself were fully absent. The fridge did not emit its buzzing sound to signify the start of its cooling process. The drips from the kitchen sink's tap stopped splashing a long time ago. Even the wind itself avoided the house, choosing to wander into a different direction than disturb whatever was inside. It was as if everything was forced to absolute motionlessness to avoid drawing the attention of something beyond terrible.

The fog of dread and hopelessness was present upstairs as well. The corridor connecting all the rooms was a vortex of fear, torn from the deepest bowls of another world. A horrifying world of endless suffering and torment. The silence, which governed unchecked, literally weighed a ton, so much so that if any person were to be there, it would simply crush the will to live out of them. A nightmarish setting capable of putting even the healthiest of minds down and out with complete ease. The coldness did not help either as the temperature dropped unnaturally down and remained so, smothering any kind of resistance or opposition against the darkness.

Eight year old Annie Petersen was fast asleep in her bed with pink sheets. A small lamp on her night stand covered her with a soothing bluish light. Almost every night, before she would close her eyes and enter her dream world, Annie would be comforted by this lamp in the shape of a sea shell, enough to calm her omnipresent fear of any monster that could attack her. That and Mrs. Dolly, the white robbed doll which always lay in her arms, were her nightly protectors, indispensable to her good rest.

Like the entire house, the girl's room was completely silent. Everything was still and quiet. From her desk, filled with colored drawings, to the pens and crayons scattered all over its surface, the chair neatly placed under it, the wardrobe that contained all of Annie's clothes and her cherished ballet princess dress, the large box of toys that she had kept throughout the years, to even the grinning head of her older sister, Allison, peeking upside down from the ceiling, at the threshold of the room's door, maliciously staring at her with a grin opened wider than normally possible…
