Rule #6a: Never accept an apology from someone who just sucker punched you

Toru stumbled back in shock at the literal words that erupted from the ground, barely grazing her nose as she landed on her ass. And still the mushrooms continued to spread across her skin. A quick glance around told her that she had been separated from Momo, and in turn the rest of her teammates. "MOMO? WHERE'D YOU GO?" Toru called, coughing slightly on the dust that poofed around her and the mushrooms that threatened to slip into her mouth. One thing was for sure, the invisible girl was glad that she wasn't allergic to mushrooms or there would've been hell to pay.

"Eurgh! It's like a creepy humidifier!" She shuddered. When a lick of physically wet onomatopoeia letters floated pass, they quickly erupted to life behind her. She flinched back from the humid taste that reeked from the three-dimensional word, like she could feel the person's breath on her neck as it passed, making her shiver and shudder. "Did that just say 'damp'?" She whimpered as the dampness fed the already ravenous fungi growing around her. More words came, latching onto the walls already surrounding them and trapping them inside. She couldn't have felt smaller if she tried.

Toru rose to her feet with a groan as she tirelessly brushed off the ever-spreading fungi and looked about for the next plan of action. "Eurgh! Yuck!" Toru whined, irritably stomping her feet as a flash of frustration and light had all the fungi falling to the floor in a steaming pile of roasted 'shrooms. Of course, as soon as they were gone, more appeared to replace them. "Oh, c'me on! These 'shrooms keep multiplying and they're sticking everywhere!"

"Don't worry, Prism!" Tokoyami called down as the two boys flew past, catching her attention as they disappeared over the wall in search of the rich girl. It was odd thing to note that they could see her full outline thanks to the fungi instead of her quirk.

"Trés gross!" Aoyama scrunched his nose up in disgust before he winced at the harsh peck that landed upon his crown for that comment.

"Komori and Fukidashi came to Kuroiro's rescue" Blood King's commentary echoed across the arena, making Toru roll her eyes at his favoured theatrics. "Now attacking in waves they're giving Class A's team a hard time from a distance. MY KIDS ARE SHOWING THEIR SUPERIOR STRENGTH!"

"AGAIN WITH THE BIASED COMMENTARY!" Mina cried, this time with the full support of Class A.

"YEAH! STOP!"

Ugh! I just can't stand here! Toru growled, fed up with the 'shrooms that blanketed her before she spun on her heel and wandered off towards the network of pipes in the hopes that finding a higher vantage point would help even as her vision became impaired by the fungi clinging to her face, making it impossible to see. She moved with hands outstretched like the world's weirdest mummy, so it was by no surprise that she ended up bumping into the something—more specifically, someone.

"Huh?" Tokoyami hummed, turning to face whatever had bumped into him.

"What the hell is that?" Asked Dark Shadow, his beady little eyes blinking from beneath a stack of mushrooms.

"Dark Shadow?" Toru groaned, hands blindly wandering in search of recognition.

"What nightmare is this?!" Tokoyami added.

"Yami?"

"…H—Hagakure?"

"I hate these mushrooms!" She stomped her foot in agitation, only able to dislodge a few of the smaller fungi.

"Yaoyorozu is missing, Aoyama is gone and on top of that the enemy has hidden themselves and are attacking indirectly. Quite the predicament; they'll be difficult to best. If we cannot locate these three opponents, this will be the end" Tokoyami mused aloud as he uselessly brushed away the 'shrooms clinging to his teammate, even as Dark Shadow giggled to himself over his partner's shoulder.

"We need a plan" Toru agreed, trying to hold as still as she could and not wriggle free from the avian's ticklish fingers.

BOOM!

"What was that?!" Toru exclaimed, spinning on her heel to face the noise.

"That explosion just now, it didn't sound like Fukidashi's work. It came from the other side of the wall" Tokoyami replied, equally as concerned. The sudden explosion had been enough to silence Dark Shadow's endless teasings at least, so a sliver of a silver lining there. And then there was a small plastic bag that sailed over the wall and dropped neatly into their awaiting hands.

"Is that from Momo?" Toru peered at the silken sack labelled with her classmate's name.

"Yaoyorozu's Lucky Bag? What is this? Some kind of loot drop?" Tokoyami turned it over in his hands.

"Here, I can hold onto it" Toru held the large bag out so that Tokoyami could delve inside.

"Lets see, we've got some goggles, a black light and some ethanol?" The avian puzzled over, before realisation hit. "This is a disinfectant spray!"

"And lookin' at those fancy specs" Toru pointed to the dark goggles in his other hand, "I'd say they were designed with you in mind. They look like thermal vision goggles"

"Thermal vision goggles?"

"Yeah! You can use them to find Kuroiro even when he's in the dark!" Toru replied as she swapped the empty bag for one of the ethanol cans and proceeded to liberally spray herself down with the disinfectant.

"These will be most helpful to pierce the blanket of darkness" Tokoyami agreed as he donned the glasses and wrapped his cloak around himself so that Dark Shadow could take to the skies.

"Then this must be for you" Tokoyami handed off the stick of fluorescent black light to the girl. "Although, I can't say what for"

"Oh, thanks!" Toru chirped as she took the neon light and tucked it into the top of her boot. "This'll be a great boost! Momo really thought of everything, huh?"

"Indeed" He nodded, tightening the cloak around himself and the shadow hovering above him. "Are you ready?"

"Let the hunt begin" Her smile was all teeth.

Although Toru hated to leave Momo alone, she knew that their best bet currently, was to take out Class B's two long-range fighters—Fukidashi & Komori—who had become a bit more than just a nuisance at this point. Whilst Tokoyami & Dark Shadow flew point to take on Kuroiro & Komori, the invisible girl clambered through the endless network of pipes in search of the author and Blood King's voice echoed out across the land once more. This time he declared Aoyama's entrapment inside Class B's jail and honestly, the blatant chauvinism that the Pro had been showing towards his class had grown old rather quickly; something for which her own class wholeheartedly seemed to agree with, if the overlapping protests in the background were anything to go by.

Soon enough, the invisible girl found herself crouched above the manga-headed boy where he sat, hidden by the network of pipes, mumbling to himself. "What the—what?" Fukidashi popped up from his hidey-hole like a meerkat on lookout. "Tokoyami's headed straight for where Komori is! But what's he up to…?"

Toru was more than content to let the author blather on to himself as she crept up behind him on whisper-quiet footsteps even if she wanted to send a few snarky comments his way. He barely had time to stutter out an exclamation of surprise before she was on him. One hand wrapped around his paper-thin neck whilst the other snapped up to lock it in place, making sure to cover his mouth (or where she supposed his mouth should have been) in an effort to silence his quirk. Limbs flying akimbo, Toru struggled for a moment or two to keep her hold on the author as he tried to get free, to breathe or do anything really. But she'd always been stubborn. So between one blink and the next, Fukidashi eventually collapsed in her arms despite his struggles and she moved quickly to entrap him in her whip, if only to avoid any further troubles as she transported him back to Class A's jail Take that, Blood King! She sneered spitefully, tying off the knot a little tighter than it needed to be before hefting the boy over her shoulder and disappeared back into the dark.

"…And Class A's imminent win is yanked out from beneath their feet! Tokoyami chokes on Komori's mushrooms and soon finds himself jailed alongside Aoyama!" Blood King commented, his voice echoing in her ears.

"Tokoyami got caught?" Toru puzzled as she flung open Class A's empty jail cell to deposit Fukidashi inside. "That just leaves me and Momo"

"But what's this? Fukidashi has fallen to Hagakure's machinations! The first of Class B to find themselves entrapped!" There was a pause of breath before the Pro roared again, not quite needing the microphone to be heard. "WHAT ARE YOU KIDS THINKING?! GET YOUR ACTS TOGETHER AND WIN!"

"Must you?" Aizawa drawled over his kids complaints about biased commentary.

"TWO TO ONE, THE ODDS ARE IN YOUR FAVOUR, MY STUDENTS! GO AHEAD AND WIN!"

"Ugh! Does he ever stop?" Toru rolled her eyes as she ventured back towards the others. She figured that if they were captured as Blood King said they were, then they'd be in jail and just like Nagisa in that game of tag, she knew that the jailhouse would be invisible. For the time being at least.

A few moments later the invisible girl found herself crouched upon a small outcropping not too far from Class B's base. From her vantage point she could see the remaining three members of the opposing team trying to disengage Momo from where she had attached herself to Kendo using a copious amount of steel cables. More than enough to keep them together and it was this very fact that made it hard for the other team to remove the two, or so it appeared. Particularly as the class rep appeared unconscious. This was understandable considering she was attached not only to the ginger but to a rather large cannon as well. She really likes her cannons, huh? Toru mused as she recalled the others she'd made in the past.

Moving closer to the group (but making sure to stick to the shadows), the invisible girl spied both Tokoyami and Aoyama already tucked inside the jailhouse. The former looked a little worse for wear whilst the latter appeared rather put out by being caught. Thankfully, the only one who seemed to notice her presence (as alerted by a slip of the foot) was Dark Shadow who perked up at the muffled noise. Toru rapidly shook her head at the shadow, silently motioning for him to quieten down which he seemed to understand eventually, though he did alert his vessel or at least she thought so when she noticed the avian's head jerk upwards at whatever was whispered into his ear.

Still gotta get rid of their long-rangers. Toru bit her lip in thought. Komori is the closest, but Kuroiro might be easier to deal with if I can break up the shadows enough. Hm, and then there's Momo & Kendo. Momo's already out of it, so breaking those two apart'll prove worse for us at the moment—they'd have three in jail instead of two…should I just leave them then? Wait out the time? But we've only got Fukidashi, which means we'd lose if that happens…Maybe, if I grabbed just one of them, I could go for a draw…Yeah, that might work.

"Firefly" Rocking forward onto the balls of her feet with toes clenched inside her shoes, Toru raised her hands and quietly called forth the violet fireflies she hadn't used since the Hassaikai incident. She bit her lip harder as she ignored the guilt that pricked at her at the thought of that day as the field filled with violet light. "Huh?" Kendo perked up at the spots that filled her vision. "What is that?"

"Are these…fireflies?" Kuroiro pondered, head titled in question.

"In the middle of the day?" Komori retorted in kind as she poked one with the muzzle of her pistol, "Don't those only come out at night?"

"Wait—! Then is this her quirk—?" Kendo spun around, eyes wide in search of the invisible girl they had yet to find.

"SWARM!" Toru roared, hands swinging out as she commanded the violet lights to go haywire. Much the same as they had when facing off those nomus during the Hassaikai incident, they swarmed at her hand, piercing through all and everything they touched, including Class B who cried out at the many sharp bites. They bounced & rebounded off of each other, raining down on the area like violet rain. It was more than enough cover for Toru to race out into the light.

She surged forward, toes barely gracing the ground as she raced for the group that cried out amongst the rain of painful violet that grazed and bit at them. I'm sorry, Momo. She silently apologised to her class rep as she was pelted by the violet light, but she took the advantage for what it was and pushed onwards. "THERE!" Kendo cried out as the fireflies kept her pinned and Toru approached, mindless of the lights that struck her skin. Unlike the others, the light only served to aid instead of hinder her.

Violet-tipped fingers pulled at the dancing lights like a puppet master, making them surge and swarm at her will. At the same time, her whip snapped out much like it had done with Fukidashi and wrapped itself around the closest target she could reach, Komori. No sooner had she pulled the entangled mushroom girl back to her chest did she spin on her heels and beat a quick retreat to the despairing calls of her team.

She knew she couldn't hold onto the fireflies forever and it was then that she decided to delve into the well of extra power she had absorbed from Aoyama's quirk. Much like when she had done so at the Provisional Licensing Exams against Gang Orca, Toru pulled on the power that made her feel like walking on air and before she knew it, she was off & racing—quite literally, in fact. A choked gasp fell from Komori's lips as the landscape blurred passed them and Toru found herself wondering if this is what Iida saw every time that he used his quirk—the lights that blurred into rivers, the concrete & pipes that were just blocks of grey and the uneven ground that seemed so smooth & yet threatened to trip him with every step. From one breath to the next, Toru found herself back at Class A's base where she hastily chucked Komori inside, wincing only slightly at the impact the fungi girl made when she landed upon Fukidashi who was just starting to wake up.

"…And that nasty surprise attack from Hagakure was enough to distract Class B and snatch Komori right from under their noses!" Blood King despaired. "But fear not! For Kuroiro is right on her tail! GO GET 'ER, KID!"

"What?" Toru spun on her heel at that, Blood King's commentary being the only warning she received before the shadow boy's fist connected with her cheek and sent her flying. "Ow…"

"You'll pay for that!" Kuroiro snarled, eyes narrowed at the bruised & battered invisible girl as she shakily rose to her feet.

"Get 'er, 'shroom!" Komori cheered from the jail cell as Fukidashi helped to right her and then remove the whip that still bound her. Her only saving grace was that Kendo was nowhere to be seen, likely still stuck at their base and attached to Momo.

"You sure pack a punch" Toru complimented as she spat out a glob of blood onto the ground at her feet. The giddy feeling she had felt before lingered only slightly in her bones, so she plucked the black light from her boot and bit into it, revelling in the warmth that flooded her like one of Shoji's hugs.

Toru barely had time to flood her limbs with violet before the snarling boy was on her again and their danced turned into one of battered knuckles, bruised flesh and burnt cloth. Just as Toru was decorated in purpling bruises from the hits she had garnered, Kuroiro was likewise decorated in welts of burning red where her quirk had landed. Honestly, the two of them looked like a pair of oddly-coloured dalmatians. Ducking below his outstretched arm, Toru swung her foot up and over her head with enough force to push him back & away. Her arms swung up in front of her, palms facing outwards and unthinking of the consequences, she brought forth a large ball of blinding light about the size of a softball.

Sweat trickled down her face as the adrenaline rush subsided like she had just come down from a sugar rush and she grit her teeth in defiance against the sudden onslaught of tiredness from Quirk overuse. "SHOOTING STAR!" She roared as she suddenly snatched the ball from the air and pitched it towards the blackened boy. No sooner had the ball left her glowing fingertips did the ball exploded into a tunnel of light, heedless of the damage wrought to the area around them.

"DUCK, 'SHROOM!" Komori panicked from behind her where both she and Fukidashi were forced to watch their friend and classmate face the light by himself.

"Oh crap…!" Kuroiro's eyes blew wide in panic and he stumbled back a pace or two into the ever retreating shadows as the explosion of light neared.

BZZZT!

"AND TIMES UP!" Blood King declared.

"Whew, that was close" Kuroiro sighed in relief as he popped back out of a shadow that bordered the jailhouse. He appeared only slightly singed, Toru was glad to note as her legs buckled beneath her and she collapsed onto the ground where she sat with her legs splayed out and panting like a dog.

"Shroom! You're okay!" Komori cheered as she clasped to the bars of the jailhouse, now free from Toru's impromptu bindings.

"Wow! You were like roar! And then bam! And kaboom!" Fukidashi added, speaking only in onomatopoeia. Toru's brows furrowed as she tried to figure out what he was saying, but ultimately dismissed it in favour of trying to regain her breath.

"SAVED BY THE BELL!" Blood King called. "Each team put two people away, so we've got ourselves a draw!"

"A draw?" Kuroiro hummed as he plopped himself down in front of the cell like a guard dog. "The cruelest of fates, to find our dream so close and yet so far out of reach"

"Oh, Kuroiro! You're so funny, 'shroom!" Komori cooed, petting the shadow boy's head and bringing a small flush to his cheeks.

"A draw, huh?" Toru tossed her head skywards, a tired grin on her lips. "I'm good with a draw"
