Chapter 6- The Time is Upon You

"Light and darkness co-exist. Two sides of the same coin. You can't just get rid of one side."

"What if we could, though?"

Vanitas was sick and tired of light screwing him up. When was a normal-ish life with the opportunity to gain needed strength again going to be on the cards? Soon, since light gave him one more blasted chance.

Sora broke so many laws of nature to bring his friends back together. As such, he was shoved into a different world with no way to get back home. Friends out of reach, but new ones in grasping reach. And by Kingdom Hearts he was going to help out a familiar face.

UA seemed like the perfect cover for them, solving all their problems. Until it didn't.

After all, light hates darkness, and darkness hates light. Destiny was inevitable.

Shota Aizawa blearily walked up to UA's impressive front gates. He had been hard at work the night previously taking down some low-ranked Villains in the underground, as well as finishing up prep work for the upcoming Summer Camp. The location had to be changed and kept a secret compared to other years, giving Aizawa a hell lot of paperwork, calling in several favours, and a few painful migraines. But with the saviour of a bucket load of coffee, the prep work was finished. He could now look forward to seeing how his class 1A could deal with the practical part of the Final Exams.

Shota smiled to himself. Class 1A were the brightest prospects that Aizawa had seen in several years, and boy he was enjoying tormenting them to their limits, watching them grow. He would never admit that to anyone though. They were a lively bunch too, which Aizawa groaned at every morning when they got too rowdy and loud.

His body complained as he was about to walk through the front gates, longing for some coffee to wake himself up. However, he stopped when he heard gentle snoring coming just behind the gates. Aizawa walked back and located the source quickly.

A teenage boy was asleep sitting up against the wall just outside of UA. He looked worse for wear, for his strange hero cosplay outfit was dirty and rough around the edges. His hair was a brown spiky mess, with it covered in muck. His face was peaceful but had large bags underneath them. He also looked a little thin too. Most people would not notice these subtle things, for they were not very noticeable currently, but Aizawa's sharp eyes immediately picked them up.

Maybe it was because he was a hero, or maybe it was because the boy looked so much like his students, he crouched beside the young boy and shook him gently to wake him.

The boy immediately shot up and was instantly alert. He looked side to side before resting his panicked glance on Aizawa. "Hi…?"

"I'm Shota Aizawa. I noticed you looking a little roughed up. Are you doing alright?"

"Oh yeah, everything's great. Just looking for a friend." He smiled, but there was sadness in his eyes.

"I can help. I'm a pro hero."

There was no recognition in those sad eyes, but they lit up, nonetheless. "You can? He wears a black muscle suit with a red… symbol on his chest. He wears a black helmet too."

Shota tried to search his recollection. "I haven't seen anyone with that description. Sorry," Aizawa checked the time quickly. "What's your name?"

"I'm Sora."

"Well, Sora, this is a reckless use of my time, but can I drive you home?"

"Thanks for the offer, but I'm ok…" Sora choked up at the end, and his smile fell a little.

"Nezu will kill me… Come with me then. You need to do something useful with that body of yours. And you need food." Aizawa started to walk away.

Sora tilted his head before jumping up and jogging. He ran straight into the UA barrier.

"Stay there, kid. I'm going to get a pass for you to enter." Aizawa calmly stated before continuing on his way.

"Huh?" Sora stared blankly at the barrier. He looked around to see that no one was currently nearby. "Let's see if I still have all my powers."

Sora jumped onto the side of the barrier and his body began to glow blue. Sora ran up the side, as easily as if he was running on the ground. He moved slightly faster than usual too, but Sora was annoyed. He had lost yet again most of his powers. He had not noticed it earlier, but even lifting the two bags of rubbish the day previously was tougher than usual.

Sora reached the top of the barrier and jumped down quietly. He forward rolled to remove the excess momentum, before looking around at the large school grounds. He began to explore around the area. He had walked to the front doors and was about to explore the dense woodland to his left when Shota returned with a guest pass in his hands.

"Kid, you passed. But how…?"

"Wait, I passed? What did I pass? Was I in an exam?" Sora frowned.

"Put it simply, I did not want to waste my time on a hopeless kid who showed no ingenuity. This is UA after all, you had to prove I should help you," Aizawa threw the guest pass over to Sora who caught it cleanly. "Part of that was to also test the security system was working well."

"Isn't that harsh though?"

"The world is harsh. Many are homeless, or starving. We can not help everyone. We try to tackle these issues, but pros need to decide where to put their resources."

"That is true, but if everyone just showed kindness to anyone who needed it, maybe it would not be a problem. Sometimes things go in a cycle." Sora walked over to the door with Aizawa.

This kid… "How did you get pass the UA barrier? It is supposed to be impossible to get passed."

The two passed several classrooms, with large doors. Sora had seen larger, but it was still impressive. There were numbers on the side of each door too, and Sora remembered something Midoriya had said. 'First year at UA'. Sora realised that one of the classrooms he passed was his one.

"Sora?" Aizawa brought Sora out of his thoughts.

"Oh, yeah. I, um, I used my quirk?" Sora lied.

"Which is?"

"U-um…" Sora got the vibe from this world that talking about the keyblade would be a bad idea. He did not know where he got this thought, but he was going to follow his gut. "I can manipulate stuff. I ran up the barrier." He held his breath.

"Huh. Decent quirk-" Sora breathed easy the same time Aizawa opened a door and was immediately interrupted.

"Hey, you're late today! Who's this?" A man with blonde spiky hair and wore headphones practically shouted. He reminded Sora of a loud Neku.

"This is Sora." Aizawa said in a dead tone. He began to search through cupboards.

"He's so cute! His eyes are piercing straight to my heart " A woman with messy black hair licked her lips. It made Sora shiver.

"Midnight, he is only 16! Show restraint." A man whose face was literally a slab of cement turned to the woman.

"Is there any food here?" Aizawa asked the room.

"There's food for my-"

Aizawa's eyes flashed red, and his unruly black hair floated up. "Do not dare finish that sentence. Vlad?"

The last person in the room was a buff man with fangs, who responded. "Lunch Rush might have something. He should be in by now."

"Thanks. Look after him." Aizawa left.

Sora gulped nervously. He liked making friends, but the strangers were suddenly quite interested in him. "So, um, what are your names?"

"Little listener, I'm glad you asked! I'm the one and only Present Mic, you may have heard me from my faaaaabulous show! The stern looking one is Vlad King, but don't be deceived! He's seriously a big softy!"

"No I'm not." Vlad King huffed.

"Cementoss is the quiet one, but his quirk is seriously handy! And finally, over there's the R-rated hero, Midnight!" Present Mic finished.

"Tone it down a little, you're going to make him deaf." Cementoss replied while typing on a computer.

"Sorry." Mic chuckled.

"Cool. Hi. Nice to meet you. I'm Sora."

"What d'you like to do? Any hobbies?" Mic patted a seat near him, and Sora sat down.

An easy smile came on his face. "I like to just hang out with my friends, practice fighting with swords too. I played blitz ball a little too."

"What's blitz ball?" Vlad King joined in too.

"Oh, just a game my friends made up back home. It's kinda like football, I think. I can't really remember all the rules though. It's been a while." Sora looked far away.

"Where do you live?" Cementoss asked.

"I bet its somewhere really romantic, like Paris "

"Midnight! Let the little listener answer for himself." Mic chastised.

Everyone looked over to Sora, who snapped out of his faraway look. "…Huh? Did you say something?"

"Yeah. Where do you live?" Cementoss repeated.

"Oh," Sora looked down, while all the teachers exchanged a look, "Well, um, I used to live far away on a tropical island. It was really sheltered, but everyone was really kind."

"'Was'?" Everyone in the room was properly paying attention now and were being a lot gentler with their voices.

"Yeah. Some stuff happened, and basically, I, uh, reached here and don't really have a bed to sleep in?" Sora chuckled nervously, still with a grin on his face.

"Little listener…"

It was then that Aizawa returned with a bowl of rice. "Lunch Rush managed to whip up something quick. Eat up."

"Aizawa, did you find him sleeping outside?" Vlad King hesitated slightly while Sora began to fumble with the chopsticks.

"Yeah. Kid's got a little potential. He's staying a day." Aizawa ducked just as one chopstick flew where Aizawa's face just was.

"Sorry!" Sora quickly ran and grabbed the chopstick. He began to slowly eat his rice but was quickly surprised. "This is so good! How is it so nice! Who made this?"

"Lunch Rush did." Vlad answered while Mic was cackling in the background at Sora's antics.

Sora had sparkles in his eyes. "Can you please thank him and compliment his cooking? It's so good. I would love to learn how to cook rice like that."

"Fine. Eat up. Then rest." Aizawa went over to his computer and began typing.

"Ok!"

Midnight whispered to Present Mic. "And he says he doesn't have a soft spot for kids."

"I heard that." Aizawa shot a death stare at the two, which just set them into giggles.

Sora woke up alone in the Teacher's Lounge. He had protested against resting but one glance from Aizawa meant Sora immediately lied down on the nearest couch. And if Sora was honest, he fell asleep almost instantly, even with the noise of all the teachers. He was still a lazy bum, after all.

Sora scrambled off the couch and looked up at the clock showing he had slept for a few solid hours. He looked around the room for a bit, trying to figure out what to do. It was then he found the note and a pile of clothes sitting right beside Sora, as obvious as they could have been. Sora looked at the clothes first. There was a plain white t-shirt, a button up red hoodie, and a cool leather jacket. Accompanied by that was three quarter length black shorts with pockets and small black and yellow shoes. All in all, not a bad range and certainly clothes Sora would wear. He then looked at the note.

Dear Sora,

I bought you some clothes since you don't have any others. Don't worry about

Suddenly, Sora's vision blurred. The words on the page suddenly turned into symbols, and Sora could not read it.

"Huh...? Not again..."

Sora's world spun and his legs gave out on him. He landed on the couch with a thud. He breathed heavier and the corner of his vision began to darken.

What's happening?! Last time when I couldn't read, I just summoned the keyblade... The keyblade!

Sora closed his eyes and opened his shaking fist. Sora opened them just as he saw a flash of light, and the familiar weight of the keyblade slotted into his hand. His vision returned to being clear, and he felt perfectly fine again, except maybe a little tired. Sora quickly desummoned the keyblade and picked up the forgotten note off the floor, seeing it translated just as before.

Dear Sora,

I bought you some clothes since you don't have any others. Don't worry about the price, it's all covered. I also smoothed things over with admin too. That doesn't mean you can wreck the place. I will kick you out if you misbehave even a little.

Look, kid, you've got potential. You could become a hero if you put the work in. All the students are busy with exams, but later they have their practical. I'm offering this to you once; you can watch and learn from the matches. Meet me outside Class 1A if you do at 2pm.

-Aizawa

Sora ran his fingers through his hair and looked up at the clock once more. It was 1:50pm.

"I guess I have nothing better to do. I might get to see Midoriya too!"

"Let's begin your practical exam," Aizawa stood outside with seven other teachers, facing the hero course students. "It is, of course, possible to fail this exam. If you want to attend the training camp, then don't mess this up."

A black-haired girl with earjacks for ears muttered to an invisible girl. "Sure are a lot of teachers here."

"Five… six… eight of them?"

Aizawa continued talking, fidgeting slightly. "Knowing you guys, you probably asked around, and you might think you have a vague idea how this'll go."

A blonde boy cheered in joy alongside a pink skinned girl. "It's a robot rumble, like the entrance exam!"

"Fireworks! Curry! Truth or dare!"

A rat/mouse with a tail and a scar over one beady eye popped up out of Aizawa's white scarf. "Not quite! Various circumstances have demanded a revision to the exam format!"

"The principal?"

"A revision…?"

The rat/mouse cackled in joy at the worried students. "From now on, we'll focus on battles against flesh-and-blood opponents. It is critical that our teaching simulates practical experience as closely as possible! As such… you students will be pairing up and fighting one of the teachers you see here!"

"Against… a teacher…?!"

The small creature continued. "Your pairings and assigned teacher have already been decided. Your battle moves, your grades, your friendships with one another: all these factors and more were considered, so without further ado: first, Todoroki is with Yaoyorozu-"

"- against me," Aizawa interrupted. "Next, Midoriya is with Bakugo. And your opponent-"

"-will be me!" A tall muscular man pronounced. Midoriya and Bakugo shared a look of horror.

"We will commence the exams shortly. In the meantime, you will be briefed and have an opportunity to strategize." Aizawa walked away with his hands in his pockets. The students looked at each other with blank looks on their faces. The previously cheering teens had completely frozen and had horror on their faces.

Aizawa smiled to himself as he walked back into the school and into the hallway. The kids would have a challenge ahead of themselves, but it would serve them well. It would teach the kids how to adapt quickly to changing scenarios, as well as working as a team with heroes that you may or may not like. It will also help their decision making in tense situations and teach them that running away is a viable strategy at times.

All in all, a very smart exam. The principal worked his socks off.

Aizawa stopped outside 1A's classroom and looked at his watch. He glanced up when he heard the slapping of shoes down the previously empty corridor. There, Sora was running full pace still smiling. He was wearing the new clothes that Aizawa bought, and Aizawa (although would never admit it) was warmed a little at the sight. He waited until Sora caught up and was catching his breath before talking to him.

"Ready to start learning?"

Xerayn's notes 6:

What is happening to Sora I wonder? This took way longer to write than usual, with the length and trying to get it accurate to MHA. The hardest bits were Aizawa's dialogue and finding the damn heart symbol for Midnight. It took a good few guides online. I'm rewatching MHA with my sister currently, which is getting me in the mood to continue writing this. Honestly, her reactions are priceless. Hope you enjoyed as usual!
