Chapter 9- The Day Has Come
"Light and darkness co-exist. Two sides of the same coin. You can't just get rid of one side."
"What if we could, though?"
Vanitas was sick and tired of light screwing him up. When was a normal-ish life with the opportunity to gain needed strength again going to be on the cards? Soon, since light gave him one more blasted chance.
Sora broke so many laws of nature to bring his friends back together. As such, he was shoved into a different world with no way to get back home. Friends out of reach, but new ones in grasping reach. And by Kingdom Hearts he was going to help out a familiar face.
UA seemed like the perfect cover for them, solving all their problems. Until it didn't.
After all, light hates darkness, and darkness hates light. Destiny was inevitable.
Sora jogged through the still new corridors, heading to Aizawa in the Teacher's Lounge. He swerved around the lingering students who were going home with ease. Normally Sora would enjoy this type of challenge, but he just did not have it in him to smile as large as usual. His heart was not lifted up.
He skidded to a halt at the door of the Teacher's Lounge and entered without knocking. He frowned. There was no one in the lounge, and the room was dark except for one white glow off a computer screen.
"I'm pretty sure Aizawa told me to go here, right? He's probably busy doing something." Sora muttered to himself while he slid the door closed.
He quickly switched the light on, and wandered about the room, looking properly at details. He liked to try and investigate everything in a world, especially if he just arrived in a new one.
Talking of which, I wonder how much this world knows of keyblades? That's always fun to find out.
Sora wandered over to the awake computer. It seemed to be on some sort of finding thingy, what did Leon call it again? A 'search bar'? That sounded about right. His curiosity got the better of Sora, and he carefully typed out 'keyblades' with one hand. He did not want to damage the computer or break it, he had only experience with two, and one was Tron's world. The first time Sora entered Tron's world, a lot of things wanted to kill him.
Hopefully this computer is nice to me.
Sora hit a large button which said 'enter', and immediately several results came up. Sora did a fist bump into the air before falling into a problem. The results cut off, with text which said, 'Click to see more'. But what was a click?
"Uhh… do I just hit the screen like a gummiphone?" Sora tried it, and it worked.
A ream of information passed Sora's eyes, not good information either. Sora's mouth was agape, and his eyebrows were furrowed.
"No, no. This can't be right. Only he did such- there were others? How badly… what?"
Sora typed in 'heartless' and 'worlds', which brought happier news. It seemed that this world had an infestation of heartless, a few hundred years ago, but no more had been seen. People had dismissed them as rumours and legends, not real. Same with keyblades. There was not any mention of worlds except for stories in books, which was normal enough.
But the worrying thing was, a-
Sora heard footsteps outside, and pretty sure he was not allowed to be using computers without permission, he slammed the lid down and rushed over to one of the seats. Aizawa entered the room, eyebrow raised at a slightly panicking and out of breath Sora.
"Hi, I'm all patched up! How are you doing?" Sora smiled, a bead of sweat rolling down his face.
"Fine. We have half an hour where we can examine the results, before I have to dismiss Class 1A for summer. Then you can do whatever, I don't care." Aizawa walked over to the computer.
Sora gulped as the computer opened, but thankfully Aizawa did not seem to pay attention to the screen. Instead, he quickly clicked a few buttons. With Sora relieved, his mind caught up with Aizawa's words.
"Wait, you're not going to test me?"
Aizawa merely sighed. "I am going to test you, just not now. I need a break and a few cups of coffee. Now sit down beside me and we'll begin analysing."
"Ok cool."
They found him. Their Master would be proud. Even prouder if they gathered information. They would watch for now. For the prouder their Master was, the less likely their Master would wreck havoc. They would watch him, but they reported it to their Master anyway. Just in case. They would like to live for a while.
Sora quickly found analysing everyone's performance very boring. He was amazed at everyone's battle prowess and abilities, and how they utilised them to mostly victory. Even the ones who failed had huge potential to be awesome. One particularly caught his eye, for he had very similar hair to Axel. His quirk though was his body becoming hard instead of fire.
But Aizawa kept on pausing and quizzing Sora on certain moves the students did, dragging Sora out of his enjoyment. Although Sora could clearly see what worked and what did not, he did not know why some things worked and some did not. He was a trial and improvement type of guy after all and had to constantly learn on the job.
Finally, Aizawa was content with Sora's answers and closed the files down. When Sora looked at the clock with tired eyes, an hour had passed.
"Come with me. It would be good to expand your horizons while you stay here." Aizawa gathered his notes before walking out of the room. Sora jogged to catch up with him.
"Wait, I thought I was only going to stay here for like a day or so? I'm extremely grateful though, just, when did you decide this?" Sora frowned slightly.
"The other staff members have taken a liking to you and don't want to throw you out. I'll admit that you have the makings of a hero too. You have nowhere to go, correct?"
"Yeah…" Sora sighed.
"So, you can stay here if you agree to it."
Sora barely hesitated. "Yeah! Thank you so much!"
Aizawa turned away, but Sora could see the hint of a smile. The two came to a stop outside the door to Class 1A.
"Stay here until I call you, when you can then introduce yourself. Don't be a nuisance. Then you can do whatever."
Aizawa opened the door to a rowdy class, before closing it behind him. The class were immediately silenced by whatever Aizawa said. Sora mulled over what he wanted to say while he waited.
I wonder if Midoriya is back yet from Recovery Girl. The way she heals, I wouldn't be surprised if he was. I can't wait to meet everyone! Everyone that I meet is so different, but each world has similar characteristics.
"Aneu pearsun as oind UA. He's working twars beackming a hereeo. Ou can ask him sm qustns. Sora?" Aizawa's voice was slightly muffled, but Sora got the gist of what Aizawa said.
Sora marched into the room with a smile on his face, like usual. Twenty pairs of eyes were immediately onto him and judging him. Midoriya gasped slightly when he saw Sora, and Sora's grin got wider. He also saw the Axel lookalike in the room too.
"Hi, I'm Sora! Aizawa has kind of taken me in. I hope we can be friends!"
Everyone's hands shot up; way more than Sora was expecting. He turned to Aizawa for guidance, but Aizawa was getting into a yellow sleeping bag. When did he get that?
"Uh… you with the glasses? Iida, I think?" Sora picked randomly.
The student in question was taken aback before composing himself. "How did you know my name? Have we met previously?"
"Oh! Woops, yeah that might have confused you guys. I was helping Aizawa analyse your practicals in the Final Exams. I picked up a few names, but, well, I don't know all of them yet. I guess you had a question before though."
"Y-yes! What is your quirk?" Iida's arms moved like a robot, they were so rigid.
"My quirk?" Several hands went down, and people nodded.
Sora was about to answer, but his voice died within his throat. What should he say? Should he mention about the keyblade? His gut twisted by the thought. From what he read earlier, this world absolutely despised-
Trust my gut instincts. I hate to lie, but… if I told the truth, it would be even worse.
"My quirk is that I can, um, manipulate elements. I can create, or summon, fire, water, ice and things like that. I'm not sure how well I can do each though, if I still even can." Sora bit his lip.
"Why not?" A pink girl asked curiously. Her name was Ash-something.
Sora chuckled. "The simplest answer? In theory, I can, but I haven't tried it out yet. Are there any more questions? Um, Mi-Mine… the one with the purple balls?"
"Do you have any hot female friends?! And can you introduce them to me?" He practically screamed.
"I don't know about 'hot', but they are all pretty far away. I haven't seen them in a while." Sora thought about Kairi with a sad smile.
"Ignore him, he's inappropriate at the best of times." A girl with earphone ears stabbed the previous boy using said earphones. Sora had seen it in action, but it was still pretty hard for him to get around. Using your ears to attack.
"Oui, and the author does not tolerate such sexualisation of anyone, especially since she is aroace. She will beat up anyone who acts that way." A sparkly boy seemingly looked to the side of everyone else, as if he was staring into people's very souls.
"Cool… the one at the back left corner?" Sora continued. He felt the same way he did whenever Axel said a weird phrase.
"What's your favourite colour?" She asked cheerfully.
Sora sighed happily. A normal question. "I don't really have one, but red and yellow look pretty cool together, I think. You could probably tell that from my outfit though."
"Alright, that's enough questions for now. Pass these notes around, then you are dismissed. Sora, do what you like." Aizawa grumbled, eyes not even opening.
"Yes sir!" Everyone addressed at the same time, except for Sora, who just said, "Cool."
The class broke up into its own friendship groups, and Sora stood awkwardly at the front, surveying the chaos. "Uh… what happens now?"
A boy with a tail was the first to speak. "Well, whatever the case, it's nice that everyone gets to go."
"Go where?" Sora innocently asked. No one answered him, so he tuned into Iida, Midoriya, a boy with blonde hair and a black lightning bolt, and the purple creep's conversation. They were all examining the sheets Aizawa said to hand out.
"An entire week of training camp!" Iida looked serious.
"Guess that explains that," Sora muttered to himself. "I guess it's going to be quiet pretty soon. Maybe I could spend more time searching for Vanitas? I thought he would be here though… hmm…"
Sora was brought out of his musings by a floating uniform. "Oh, I know! We're off tomorrow and tests are over, so… how about we all go shopping together, Class A?"
Everyone perked up at that. "Good idea! This'll be a first, come to think of it!"
"Hey, you come too, Bakugo!" The Axel lookalike failed to convince the explosion boy.
"No way in hell! What a waste of time."
"You gonna come, Todoroki?"
"I visit… someone on my days off."
"Sounds like you guys are going to have fun! Hope you enjoy!" Sora smiled.
"Sora?" Midoriya turned around, confused.
"Hi."
"We're so sorry we forgot about you!" The whole class apologized at once.
"It's ok, although it was a little annoying…" Sora pouted.
"As Class Representative, I should have realised you were still here and accommodated for you sufficiently. I am sorry I have failed you and my role!" Iida bowed in front of Sora.
"It's really quite ok, no biggie. I would be excited too if I was going." Sora was slightly flustered.
"Hey, do you wanna join us? We can have more fun that way!" The pink girl bubbly asked.
"If you're offering, sure. I don't want to get in the way of you guys though, so just let me know if I'm doing anything wrong." Sora put his hands behind his spiky mess of hair.
"We should figure out all the details before heading home, that way we can meet up at the shopping district." A girl with a black ponytail and a very long name that Sora definitely could not remember took out a sheet of paper.
"Yeah!"
Vanitas stared across the rising sun, crouched over the edge of the same roof he was dropped off on. He had hidden his clothes that he had stolen, revealing his Dark Suit in all its glory. The blacks were twisted into more warmer hues, the red bleeding into oranges and yellows from the incoming light. He still wore his black helmet over his face, but it was not affected by the light. Instead, it seemed to repel all light entirely, remaining pure black. The pockets hidden underneath the tattered battle skirts carried no items, for Vanitas had not found a good opportunity to find any worthwhile healing items. But it did not matter. For his magic was still present, his darkness still present within his twisted half-heart, and his maniac smile was on his face, if anyone could see it through the helmet.
It was like this that Kurogiri had found Seeker, looking down at the populating streets.
"Seeker, it is time."
"I know." Seeker turned around and calmly walked into the portal Kurogiri had barely created.
Sora was allowed to wander around the halls of UA when school was out. He found it very different to when the students were around, for even if no one was in the corridor, the school seemed alive. Now it was just an echo of what it was. Most of the teachers had headed home after class, but some like Aizawa had remained to finish off work and marking. He knew Aizawa was still in school, for Sora bumped into him a few hours later.
"There you are kid. The principal would like to meet you, as well as sort out your living space." Aizawa yawned.
"Oh ok! Lead the way." Sora went to the side of Aizawa.
A few minutes passed, where Aizawa barely could keep his eyes open. Sora was starting to get tired too, from the lack of sleep in the past few days and began to think about stopping for the day. Just when Sora was about to suggest Aizawa got some rest, they had arrived at the principal's office.
Aizawa knocked, and a high-pitched voice welcomed them in. Sora waltzed in, but then tilted his head almost immediately at the principal.
"Hi." Sora just accepted the animal in front of him. He was friends with Donald and Goofy after all.
"Hello Sora. I have heard many good things about you. I'm Nezu. You're probably wondering what I am. Am I a bear? A mouse? What I am is the principal!"
"It's nice to meet you." Sora said with a smile.
"You're taking him very well." Aizawa muttered.
"The staff here have realised your potential to be a hero, and you have agreed to stay here, no?" Nezu continued.
"Yeah, that's right." Sora yawned slightly.
"How wonderful! If you ever have any problems, don't be afraid to come to me. I'm sure I can sort something out. Now, you must be very tired from meeting so many new people. I recommend you rest in one of our guest rooms for now. You can choose whatever one you want. We can discuss more things at a later date."
"Thanks so much. I am pretty tired." Sora laughed.
"Aizawa, can you show him where the guest rooms are?"
Aizawa looked at Nezu blankly.
"The new rooms we recently furnished?"
"So that's what those rooms were for… come on, Sora." Aizawa blinked slowly.
"Oh, and Aizawa? Get some rest too. Overworking yourself will do no favours to maintaining glossy hair."
Seeker was immediately met by two new faces, sitting down at separate tables against the walls. One was barely older than him, and had a maniac look to her. She wore a uniform too with messy buns in her light blonde hair. She fidgeted with a knife carelessly, arguing passionately with Shigaraki. Seeker liked her.
The other was more reclusive, seemingly not bothered with what was happening. He was covered in scar tissue, an ugly purple. They were seemingly stapled onto his healthy skin. His black hair matched his aesthetic perfectly. Seeker could see though that he was hiding secrets. Shifty. Someone to watch out for. A knife that cut both ways if you were not careful.
"Shigaraki. How are the agreements working out?" Kurogiri spoke, the two newcomers being drawn towards Seeker, each forming their own judgement upon him.
"It's no good. These freaks are too crazy for us. They're useless." Shigaraki scratched at his neck anxiously.
"We're following Stainy wainy's will! I'm plenty useful! Just lemme kill something!" The girl got excited.
"It's all about Stain, Stain this, Stain that! I'm sick of Stain!" Shigaraki launched himself at the girl, and the two newcomers both launched into action.
A knife would have sliced Shigaraki's throat, Shigaraki would have destroyed the girl, and the man was a mystery in what he was going to do. Possibly kill them both. But instead, smoke just rose from the man's arm, and portals quickly created by Kurogiri separated every attack.
"Please calm yourself, Tomura Shigaraki. If we are to act upon your desires, expanding this organization is a necessity. We have already gained one member, but we should gain more. And oddly enough, this is our chance while we're in the spotlight. I advise acceptance, not rejection, Tomura Shigaraki. Acceptance of anything we can use, of whatever remains of his will-"
Shigaraki swiped at Kurogiri. "Shut up." He stormed out of the room.
"Where are you off to?" Seeker inquired, a smirk playing on his hidden face.
"I said shut up!" And with that, Shigaraki was gone.
"That was fun to walk into." Seeker sighed.
"We will have an answer for you within a day or two. Will that suffice?" Kurogiri looked to the two newcomers. "I expect even he knows what he must do. It's because he knows, in fact, that he left without a word. First All Might, then the Hero Killer… he's been humbled twice recently. He'll figure it out, I'm sure. An answer that will satisfy you two, as well as himself…"
"He's going to find his conviction, an end point. Took him long enough," Seeker folded his arms. "Who are you idiots anyway?"
"Himiko Toga! The world is boring! I wanna jazz it up! I wanna kill people! Just like Mr Stainy!" The girl jumped closer to Seeker.
"Cool," Seeker resisted an eye roll, "And the other?"
"You can call me Dabi. I'm going to turn the Hero Killer's will into reality. But this place lets any nut skull in, it seems." He said with disdain.
Satisfied, Seeker sat at the bar, reading the labels on the alcohol.
"Aren't you going to introduce yourself? Fair's fair and all that." Dabi stated.
Seeker twirled around to face the mysterious man once more. "Whatever. I'm just here to stir up chaos. I prefer to be alone but got roped up in this."
"A name would be helpful."
"Fine. If needs be, I'm Seeker." Seeker examined a glass and fidgeted with it.
Master, I found target. Going to follow.
You're not useless, good. At least you didn't mess that up. Keep me notified of any developments.
Of course.
"Would anyone like a drink? We may be waiting for a little while." Kurogiri went to the bar.
"Sure. The other two have barely left high school. Way too young to be drinking." Dabi went to the bar, while Kurogiri poured a golden liquid.
"Give me one too." Seeker added.
Dabi just looked at Seeker. "Don't judge a book by its cover. Anyway, we're villains." Seeker responded.
"I want to have a drink too! But alcohol is yucky. Do you have anything else?" Toga finally joined back in.
"I shall see." Kurogiri responded in the same whispery voice.
And so, the waiting game began.
Xerayn's notes 9-
This chapter seemed to never end. I had written most of Sora's part and Vanitas' but then I realised I had the rest of Sora's day to fill lol. Dabi and Toga are pretty hard to write, but hopefully I portrayed them ok. I'm off for summer now, and have plenty of motivation, so updates should come a little quicker, or chapters will be at least maybe about this length. And I finally finished the cover of this book!
