Helga glanced at the alarm clock begrudgingly. It had no mercy for her exhaustion.

She stumbled out of bed and threw on the closest clothes to her. She just knew this was going to be a long day.

Helga walked up to Hillwood High with an energy drink in each hand.

"HELGA! What ARE those?"

Helga glanced over to see a very angry Phoebe.

"My go go juice ,Phoebs. Not all of us are born with your level of energy dear." she wittingly responded.

Helga took a glance at the group and noticed the football headed boy looked particularly rough.

"AYO football head, I'd say you need one of these as much as I do. " she smirked as she tossed a can at him.

"I look that bad?" he chuckled as he caught it.

THe four headed to their homeroom engulfed in conversation.

So this isn't that bad right? It's not awkward. We're just old friends getting reacquainted. Nothing weird about that right? Although I did have a statue of him made out of gum . I shutter to think about that. Ugh. I was weird no denying that.

"MISS PATAKI!"

Helga looked up and noticed the whole class staring in her direction.

"Glad you're finally with us, I was asking if you'd show Mr. Shortman to the Chemistry lab?" Mr. Perkins requested.

"You bet teach." she jumped out of her chair and headed towards the door,

"You must have been seriously deep in thought to not have heard him yelling your name." Arnold chuckled.

Shut up, it was not that funny." she glared back.

The hallways were silent, they might as well have been the only two left in the world.

"Do you hate me?"

Helga glanced up.

"I'm sorry,what?" she asked.

"Is that why it's weird for you to talk to me ?"

Helga took a deep breath and glanced over at the boy she once loved.

What could she say that would help him understand. Were there any words that would help this situation?

"I don't hate you…. I'm not even mad at you. Truth is...I don't even know you. At least not anymore. " she sighed.

"Do you want to...know me that is?"

She looked at that pathetic face and wondered how she could be so cruel and say no.

"I don't know. At this point in life I'm just trying to survive high school alright?" she laughed.

She stole another glimpse and this time it wasn't that he looked sad . He looked genuinely hurt by her comment.

"Football he- , I mean Arnold. Why do you want to be friends with me..now?" she questioned.

Arnold let out a deep breath.

"I got your letter." he whispered.

Letter.. What letter? NO. NO. NO.

PHIL , how could you? That old man promised he wouldn't.

Helga's face turned five shades redder without realizing it.

Arnold lifted her face in his hand and met her gaze and said ,"That's the girl I want to get to know.."
