Author's Note: I would like to apologize for not specifying the type of name that I wanted Mei to have, though there were some great suggestions (and a good idea from Tuah Kanye) I didn't find one that fit well with the story. So, I'm going to ask again for some suggestions for Mei's alias, but this time I want them to be more original, bonus points if they're bunny/rabbit themed though they don't have to be.

Jack Rabbit saw the girl smile a little, letting him know that she liked his name. Jack Rabbit wasn't a huge fan of his name, he can hear Mei snickering in his ear, but if it would make the girl trust him then he'll live with it for now.

"What's your name?" Jack Rabbit asked.

"Hayami," she said softly.

"That's a nice name," Jack Rabbit extended his hand to pet her head but she flinched when she saw him reach for her, causing him to worry.

"Are you okay? Why are you out so late?" He didn't realize it earlier because of the two people he was fighting, but why was a girl her age out so late? And why were those two adults towering over her when they didn't even look like her parents.

"Home scary," Hayami said, causing Jack Rabbit to freeze. Getting a better look at Hayami he was able to make out some bruises on her arms and neck, making his blood boil. How could anyone do such a cruel thing to someone so young, let alone their own daughter. He was ready to burst into the girl's home and beat the shit out of the person who did this or take Hayami away to a safer place with him, but Mei stopped him before he could do anything.

"I know what you're thinking, and I fully agree with what you want to do, but you can't," Mei said, causing Jack Rabbit to pause.

"What!?"

"It's messed up I know, but it's better that we bring her back to her home than do anything drastic."

"She has bruises and she flinched when I tried to pet her!" Jack Rabbit didn't like what Mei was saying, she couldn't see Hayami, she couldn't see her shaking, her bruises, or the fear in her eyes. All he wants to do is take her away so she could live a life where she doesn't get hurt or live a life in fear.

"Then what are you going to do then!?" Mei shouted. "Break into her home and beat up whoever harmed her or take her away! Those are crimes, even if you're in the right!"

"But-"

"You don't have any evidence to support you! If you do any of those things it will make your and her life horrible!"

Jack Rabbit looked at Hayami again, who had tears in her eyes. It pained him to admit it but Mei was right, he couldn't do anything. He couldn't just take matters into his own hands because whatever he did would make the abuser out to be the victim. He also couldn't call the cops or Child Protective Services because if they couldn't find anything to warrant them taking away Hayami, it would make her life worse.

"But we can't do nothing!" Jack Rabbit pleaded.

"I know, that's why I'm gonna start working on something right away!" Jack Rabbit could hear Mei working away at her workbench as she spoke, making him smile a little.

"What exactly are you working on?"

"A small camera that we can hide on her to record videos that we can send to the police or heroes. Just make sure that you can put it on her the next time you see her."

"And when do you think you'll finish it?" Jack Rabbit asked.

"If I pull an all-nighter I think I can get it done by tomorrow night."

Jack Rabbit nodded, even though Mei couldn't see him. "I trust that you'll finish it in no time."

"I'm signing off, and please be smart," Jack Rabbit could hear his earpiece go silent, signaling that Mei signed off. He turned back to Hayami and crouched down to her level. Every part of his body is telling him that this was a bad idea, but if he wanted to save her he knew he would have to do it, even if it doesn't feel right.

"Hey," he said in a whispered voice. "Me and my friend are going to help you out but you're going to need to be brave. I'm going to have to drop you off at your home though."

Hayami started shaking heavily as tears ran down her face, breaking his heart. He reached out to pet her and once again she flinched, but this time he didn't pull his hand away. He lightly rubbed her head, messing up her hair a little and he can feel her starting to shake less.

"I know it's scary, but I promise you I'm going to save you," Jack Rabbit promised. Hayami nodded and wiped away some of her tears though they continued to fall down her face.

Jack Rabbit stood up straight and extended his hand for the little girl to hold. He had her lead him to her home, which was on the third floor of the apartment building he was on earlier. The hallway was filthy with multiple stains on the carpet, the walls, and a weird smell that no one can explain. Hayami led him to a room with its numbers falling off. Before Jack Rabbit let her go, he got down to her level again and placed his hands on her shoulders.

"I'm going to go now, but I want you to promise me that you'll meet me outside around this time tomorrow, ok?" She nodded and he ruffled her hair again. He then walked down to the end of the hallway towards an open window and shot his grappling hook onto the closest roof. He didn't want to wait to watch her go into her house because he knew that if he stayed he wouldn't have been able to stop himself as screams echoed throughout the hallway.

Izuku couldn't pay attention in school, all he could think about was Hayami. He couldn't sleep at night knowing that she was scared to be in her own home. He hated himself for leaving her there but Mei was right, if he wanted to save her he was going to need to get some evidence. He just wished there was a better way to get it.

"And that's how you pronounce Taumatawhakatangihangakoauauotamateaturipukakapikimaungahoronukupokaiwhenuakitanatahu," Izuku history teacher said after finishing his lesson. They were learning about New Zealand and the teacher thought it would be a good idea to talk about a hill that had a long name that was located in New Zealand. His teacher had a whole lesson planned out for the class but because it took so long for him to pronounce the name, they had about five minutes left in class.

"Since that took longer than I thought, you can start packing your things before the bell rings," his teacher said as he sat down at his desk.

When Izuku finished packing his stuff the bell rang. He left the classroom and met up with Fumikage at the school's entrance. They didn't talk much on their way back to their homes, Izuku thinking too much about Hayami, and Fumikage was still sore from his workouts.

"I know you don't feel great now, but as time goes on you'll start to feel better," Izuku told his friend as he watched him limp. He wanted "Make sure to stretch before every workout and end it with a little yoga. Make sure you also stay hydrated as well."

"Thanks for the advice. I assume you learned this from gymnastics?" Fumikage groaned.

"Yeah, the first few lessons my arms and legs were extremely sore and my stomach ached for weeks," Izuku chuckled. "Tsu's mom told me that I should do some yoga after every lesson to help."

"Ok, and speaking of Tsu, I'm sorry I wasn't able to make it yesterday," Fumikage apologized, but Izuku didn't mind.

"It's fine, me and Tsu played a round and got pizza afterward. She also won a free game pass so we can go back another time," Izuku said. Dark Shadow emerged from Fumikage snickering to itself.

"It sounds like you and Tsu went on a date."

Izuku turned beat red and Fumikage reprimanded his quirk.

"I-It wasn't like that! We just played a game of golf as any two friends would! We even had a competition during the game!" Izuku shouted, causing Dark Shadow to have a full-on belly laugh. Fumikage managed to suppress Dark Shadow back into him after the shadow-quirk calmed down.

"I would like to apologize for Dark Shadow's behavior," Fumikage said while shaking his head.

"I-It's fine," Izuku said. He took a few deep breaths to regain his composure. "Though something did happen afterward…"

"What happened?"

"It only happened for a second but our hands touched when we reached for the same slice of pizza and we both froze," Izuku said. Fumikage had a confused look on his face wondering why his friend was making a big deal over something so small.

"And?"

"I don't know!" Izuku exclaimed. "It just got awkward between us and… I don't know?"

"Well… Did you hate it when your hands touched?" Fumikage asked.

Izuku started to think about it. He didn't think anything of it when it happened, he was stunned during the moment. But after talking with his friend and actually thinking about it, he couldn't say he disliked it.

"Not really… But I don't think Tsu liked it. She rushed to the bathroom shortly after it happened."

"You should talk to her then. Find out what she thought of it," Fumikage told his friend.

"You're right, it might even extinguish any awkwardness that'll form from it," Izuku said. They came up to the part of the street where they split up to go to their own homes. They said their goodbyes and even though he might not know it, Izuku was grateful to his friend for taking his mind off of Hayami.

"Did you get the camera done?" Izuku asked after changing into his costume. After everyone fell asleep, Izuku rushed to the warehouse and got ready, he didn't even acknowledge Mei when he burst through the doors.

"Almost…" Mei was currently placing a small lens into a pin.

"Done!" Mei exclaimed and picked up the pin. It was a small green pin with a rabbit face in the middle. There wasn't anything special about the rabbit face, except for the two black beady eyes.

"What is it?" Izuku asked after getting a good look at the pin.

"It's the hidden camera. Let me show you how it works," Mei handed Izuku the pin and walked over to her computer, she turned it on and opened an icon. After she clicked on the icon all of the screens showed a video of Izuku's face.

"Woah!"

"I know! It records 24/7 and my computer receives the feedback!" Mei exclaimed, proud of the work that she spent all night and day working on.

Izuku gripped the pin and placed it in his pocket. He moved to leave but Mei stopped him.

"I know you don't like it, but this was the best way to do this," Mei said solemnly. Izuku looked down and sighed.

"I know, I just wished there was a better way."

"So do I, but after tonight she won't ever have to go through this again!" Mei said with determination in her voice.

"Now, get out their Jack Rabbit!"

Izuku smirked and put on his mask and left the warehouse.

Jack Rabbit waited in the alleyway for 15 minutes, waiting for Hayami to show up. He knew that she was young and probably didn't have a good concept of time, or maybe he was early. He kept trying to reason with himself that she'll show up soon, but something kept eating at him that something happened.

He decided to listen to that feeling and started to look for her. He knew that he couldn't walk through her front door so he started to look for her apartment window.

'What was her apartment number? I exited through the window at the end of the hallway and I remember walking past a couple of rooms, but it wasn't one of the first rooms either so it has to be somewhere in the middle.'

Jack Rabbit aimed his grappling hook and shot it at one of the fire escapes. He reached the platform and started to look through the window. The first room he looked into was a bright colorful room with a boy playing a video game. In the next room, he saw a dark bedroom full of toys. Even though it was empty, something told him that it wasn't Hayami's room.

Finally, he came across a bedroom with nothing but a single mattress on the floor. It was also filthy with multiple stains on the floor and the wall, with a single flickering light bulb lighting up the room. But what stood out the most was a small girl with reddish-pink hair curled up on the mattress.

Jack Rabbit tapped on the window, alerting the girl. When she looked at the window, he was able to identify that she was Hayami. She moved to the window and opened it.

"Hello, you didn't show up and I got worried," Jack Rabbit whispered, so he didn't alert anyone else in the apartment.

"Sorry, I forgot," she said lightly. Jack Rabbit entered through the window and crouched down to her level.

"Don't worry, I have something that will help you," Jack Rabbit pulled out the pin and moved to put it on her, but when he touched her arm she winced. Jack Rabbit looked at her worriedly, before lifting up her sleeve, seeing fresh bruises. He then looked at her neck and saw more fresh bruises.

He gripped his fists and breathed through his nose to calm down, it barely worked but he knew that he was so close to kicking down her bedroom door and attacking the first person he saw. He placed the pin on her shirt before placing his hands on her shoulders.

"I promise, you will never have to go through this!" Jack Rabbit said and pulled her into a warm hug. Hayami flinched first, but when she realized that he wasn't hurting her, she eased into it, embracing the warmth.
