Two hours were spent by his master's side as he refused to leave the man so soon. If it was Harrison, Keller would be sitting by his side. Even if it was only once a day for an hour. He would make time. Harrison would make time when he could.
After the two hours were up though Durant ushered him and XIII out. They had no choice but to return to Hogwarts. Dumbledore made like he wanted to talk to them but both boys had nothing to say. It irked the Headmaster but he had no official reason to keep them there.
Their first order of business was to call the alert the battle magic students of what was happening. As the Guard Captain that duty fell to XIII. Harrison gave soft orders of what they were supposed to do and what to work on. With any luck, it wouldn't be needed. Still, as Durant pointed out it would be better safe than sorry.
For his part, Harrison went to the dorms to grab his CAD and notes for magic circles. It would be best for him to start on Shock Bolt. If he wanted it to become a silent incantation that would be the easiest one to start with.
As he made to close his trunk he paused hesitating briefly. Then he grabbed his book on magic circle theory. From there he left the dungeons heading for the grounds. There was a tree that was perfectly shaded during this time of day.
There he sat in with his back to the tree and the book in his lap. Magic circles were the bread and butter of any CAD use. The CAD was the focus and it could hold some magic circles. Larger circles needed a stronger metal or time for the user's magic to form the circle. Then there was the time needed for the incantation. Seconds that could be deadly.
Shock Bolt was already inlayed into his CAD. He pulled the book onto his lap and began to read. If he was going to try this connecting to his core again. While using any spacial magic or magic circles needed a small connection to his core. What he was trying to do needed a stronger connection.
Slowing his breathing he entered a mediative state. Meditation with mind magics had been a staple of Nightingale. It was required of all first-years to take it. The only way they were allowed to stop taking the class was if they made an EE minimum. He mastered the magics in his first year.
Zip.
A strong connection formed between him and his core. Heat flooded him with his magic. It took all of his control to keep his magic from trying to exit his body.
Every time it would do this. No matter what he was trying to do. The moment the connection was made it wanted free. He rather thought it was like trying to tame a lion. Even with his training beginning young there were times when first years had more control. Using his CAD helped to a point but it could only do so much. Keller could not figure out why he struggled so much. Neither could the other professors now that he thought about it. It wasn't for lack of trying either. Everyone had tried to help him. Some were more successful than others. Harrison distinctly nearly burned the Battle Room to ash on three separate occasions. After the Keller insisted that he anyone trying to help gave suggestions to him and did not approach Harrison directly.
Using his CAD he forced his magic into the metal. Then he focused on the magic circle for Shock Bolt. Without the incantation, it was much harder than he thought it would be. Normally as soon as they began forming the magic circle the incantation started. The less than a second required by anyone but the most inexperienced was almost unnoticeable.
Slowly the purple magic circle began to appear above his right palm. Sweat began to form on his face. The effort to do this deliberately slow so he didn't call out the incantation was annoying. It didn't exhaust him physically but mentally it was taxing.
Turning clockwise the runes that made up the magic circle began to form. When it was finally completed he held it like that. The focus engraved it into his mind so that when he released it, hopefully, it would come back faster.
As he released his breath he released the circle. Nothing happened not that he expected it to. The circle alone wasn't enough. The intent behind it was needed and casting.
According to their silent casting teacher words weren't required for magic. All magic could be done silently. It simply was forcing your magic to obey your will. Many witches and wizards believed that the Unforgivables couldn't be cast silently. More than once their teacher had proven they could. Without the proper training, it would drain their cores extensively.
Remembering the way his teacher described it he reformed the image of the magic circle. This time instead of trying to form it in pieces he tried to form it completely. Forcing his magic to obey him he formed it completely.
It took less than a second much faster than the previous attempt. Thunder Sprites his mind called. Lightning began to dance across the circle weakly. It wasn't much but without speaking it was more than most could do.
As he prepared to release it a voice breathed in surprise, "That's wandless magic."
Harrison's eyes shot open and the magic faded with his lack of concentration. Despite the fact, he was going to release it soon a string of curses came out of his mouth. Lightning while weak had struck the palm of his hand.
Rubbing his hand to take away the pain he looked up. Tom Riddle was standing out on the grass in front of him. His blue eyes were alight with interest.
Damn it. He should have chosen a more secluded spot. This wasn't Nightingale where he could practice his magic anywhere without being interrupted. The other students knew better than to interrupt a technomage.
Harrison snapped, "You idiot. Don't you know better than to interrupt someone when they are connected to their core? It could have ended in disaster."
Riddle blinked in surprise. He opened his mouth as if to argue. Then he looked down at Harrison's palm which was still red from the lightning.
Then he apologized looking properly chastised, "I'm sorry. We don't learn about magic like that here at Hogwarts."
Suspicion was still clear in Harrison's green eyes. Riddle looked somewhat nervous at his suspicion.
Then he asked, "What was that?"
Sighing he relented and waved for the boy to take a seat. He couldn't teach Riddle, well he could but he wouldn't, technomagic he could explain it.
