Angel
Nobody can find their angels as I have. I thought I was unlucky, but now it seems I am the luckiest person on earth. Let me tell you my story, the story of how I found my angel.
I saw her first when she was being sorted, and I was quite confident she would land in Gryffindor. They said the children usually followed the tradition of landing in the same house. After all, her brothers were in Gryffindor.
I worried about her when I got to know she was possessed by Him. But Harry saved her… and she was safe. That's all that mattered.
As I grew up with my friends, I got to know her better, and loved her more. Luck smiled upon me in my fourth year, when she agreed to go to the Yule Ball with me. My hammering heart and clumsy dancing made her foot sore, I'm sure. She waved to me later, in spite of it, making my heart flutter, and I hoped then, that she would be mine one day.
For a year, I waited, trying to muster whatever was there of my Gryffindor courage. When I thought I was ready to tell her, so many things happened, and my courage was spent in battling the Death Eaters.
One more year I waited. Then I noticed her heart was full of love. How I wished it had been for me. Nonetheless, I had a small, tiny ray of hope. But that got crushed too, in my sixth year. Harry had finally noticed her, and I knew she was his. I was happy for them as a friend, but I withered away inside, little by little…
I liked to watch the sunset. It was so beautiful, and red, like her hair which I had loved so much. I sat by the lake, pondering how unlucky I was and hating myself for being so cowardly. Maybe if she had known earlier or if I was Harry Potter I might have stood a chance…
I heard scrunching of leaves behind me, but I ignored it. It was some animal probably.
"You loved her, didn't you?" a dreamy voice asked me. I turned my head so swiftly that my neck cricked.
She came down and sat beside me. Some of the dreamy look that was usually on her face had disappeared. I looked back at the lake. I guess she understood my silence, because she too turned her gaze towards the still waters.
It seemed an eternity, and then she spoke. "You know what?" she paused slightly. Her eyes were so beautiful, such a crystal blue colour. The setting sun seemed to dance in her eyes, making them look like pale blue diamonds. Her blond hair had a slight tinge of orange, due to the fading light.
"I love you. I think I always have." She said matter – of – factly. I was stunned. For a minute I just stared at her while she looked at me. That dreamy look was totally gone. "How come you never told me before?" I blurted. "Oh, I realized it myself just a few minutes ago." She said simply. I didn't say anything. I was lost in her eyes. Those beautiful diamonds… how had I missed them before?
Those people were so stupid, calling her names like that. So what if she was a bit weird, and wore radish earrings? I was stupid, how could I, in the name of Merlin, have missed the most beautiful and wonderful l person in the world, when she was right in front of me?
I never do things on an impulse, but I did, now. I hugged Luna for a full five minutes. We turned back to gaze at the lake, arms around each others shoulders, a small smile on our lips.
So this was my story. Oh, by the way, I'm Neville Longbottom, and I found my angel.
A/N: So how is it? pls review!
