A Xiaolin Showdown Story
Maxine Spicer's Xiaolin Adventure's
Chapter 8
The Deep Freeze
~The Spicer Residence/Maxine's POV~
After the whole Sibini incident Jack would be more careful when it comes to trusting evil partners. He also wished that we never talk about Sibini landing on his face and him screaming like a terrified little girl. That was something he wished to forget so I agreed. Promising to keep quiet but I'll never forget the memory of Jack and that high pitched scream of his. Wish I had captured that on video. Ah well the memory in my head is good enough.
Since the incident, Jack was keeping busy in his lab with his robots. Lately he's been working on some new bot that he says will be helpful when the next Shen Gong Wu reveals itself. I asked him what he was making but he wanted it to be a surprise for me. While that is generous of him to wanna surprise me I haven't always been big on his surprises. Since we were kids whenever my birthday came up Jackie would build me something. When I was seven I was into unicorns so Jackie made me a unicorn bot that went hay wired, ran all over the party stomping and jumping on things till it finally malfunctioned when the punch bowl fell on top of it. Safe to say my party was ruined and Jackie was grounded for three weeks with no robot building.
Then there was my tenth birthday. I had grown to enjoy building things. Starting with Lego's I began to build cities and castles and houses. Creating my own Lego community in my play room mom and dad set p for me in one of the spare rooms they weren't using. It was only fair. Jackie had the basement as his lab so I got a room of my own. The day before my birthday Jackie surprised me with a robot the size of an easy bake oven that could create anything I wanted out of Lego's. He demonstrated by putting a bag of Lego's into the bot then pushing a few buttons before the bot started shaking. Jackie said it wasn't suppose to do that which made us nervous. Especially when the shaking got worse making us both duck for cover behind a couch that was in the room. We hid just as the bot exploded. When we looked from behind the couch the room was a mess and my Lego community was destroyed. Needless to say Jackie was grounded for a month and forbidden from touching my Lego's or entering the playroom.
There were other incidents though they were nothing compared to those big ones or last year. Yes, there was another major incident at my birthday last year but I don't wanna talk about it. Let's just say I lost something of value to me thanks to one of Jackie's robots. That's all I have to say, nothing more.
Getting back to the present. I was in the living room watching a video from YouTube on the TV a friend of mine from school sent me when Jackie came running in dressed in his snow gear. He told me Wuya sensed a new Wu called the Luna Locket in this tundra mountain area and we would be leaving in ten minutes. Don't know why I had to go but II just paused my video, got up and went to my room to get ready. Need to get use to this because its only going to keep happening. So I got dressed in some warm clothes that consisted of jeans, boots, long socks, a sweater, gloves, a long grey coat, and my adorable grey cat that looked like a cat. Once ready I joined Jackie down in his lab.
We took one of Jackie's jets to the mountains. Snow surrounded the entire area but Jackie spotted the Wu hidden in the snow. We were close to it but Jackie put the jet on hold. Said this was a good chance to try out his newest bot. The very bot he had been working on it his lab for the past few days. The bot he wished to surprise me with. With the push of a button on his watch Jack called out his Dude bot. A robot that looked like a human with a flat haircut wearing business clothes. He spoke in a robotic human-like voice. Saying how much he liked Jack before flying towards the Wu. Wuya questioned what made the bot special to which Jack replied using a Wu called The Heart of Jong to make the bot human. Kind of like Pinocchio in a more scientific way.
Not entirely interested in a robot going after the Wu, I pulled out my IPhone, put my earphones in and turned on my music. Course I immediately turned the music off when I saw Clay jump into action and get the Wu. Least till Dudebot lasered some snow and sent Clay sliding downhill. Rai went up next pulling the Wu in his direction but the bot fought back throwing him away. Kimiko went next kicking Dudebot away. Snow landed on him but he flew up holding the pile. Throwing it at her and rolling her away. It was now up to Omi. Summoning his powers he made a huge icicle that stabbed Dudebot sending him flying. Omi tried to fight him after that move but he got thrown away like the others.
This was certainly a strange turn of events which got worse when Jackie pushed a button that sent a claw to grab the Wu; while the monks ran towards it only missing it by a mere couple inches. Did I mention Dudebot wasn't looking so hot? I think the Heart of Jong is stronger than I thought and it must be because Dudebot threw it away into a large gap. He shut down moments after landing on the snow with a thud. Part of me felt a little sad for Dudebot. He didn't deserve to go out like that.
"Go down there and get me the Heart of Jong." Wuya said to Jack.
"But it dark. Anyway the dweebs will never find it and its dark." Said Jack flying us back home.
Back to my music, its going to be a long flight.
~Later that Night~
Jackie and I were sitting up on the roof of the house. He was having a grand old time playing around with the moon. All thanks to the Lunar Locket. He made it go in every direction, spin around, do a little dance, till Wuya told him to stop.
"Check it out girl's, I'm the Master of the Moon! (evil laugh)"
"Enough Jack! The moon is not a toy."
Suddenly, the sound of shattered glass caught out attention.
"Jackbots stop the intruder!" Jack cried out.
"Jackie shouldn't we go and see who we're dealing with?" I asked him.
"Good point, you first." Jack replied pulling me forward to lead the way. I let out a sigh and lead the way.
We got down to the basement to see a large gapping hole in the wall. A small shadowy figure stood on the other side. Jackie and I walked forward to get a closer look. Out of the shadows walked in this tiny adorable little snow boy. Oh my gosh he is just about the cutest thing I've ever seen~ His big button eyes and little bucket hat and lederhosen's. I could have run up and snuggled the little guy. If he hadn't mutated into a horrifying giant snow monster. He did have some manners. Tipping his hat before he leaned down and blew cold air at jack while yodeling. Jackie was a popsicle after that.
"Whoa, who's the ice guy?" Jack asked.
"Good question, but he's got the Heart of Jong in him." I pointed out before being pulled away to safety as the snow monster destroyed the lab.
"He's wreaking my lair!" Said Jack.
"(evil chuckle) Yes, quite impressive, my kind of monster." Said Wuya sounding impressed as the beast created carnage while yodeling.
"Uh Jackie, you got a plan to get this snowman out of here?" I asked.
"I've got one idea, stay hidden and avoid flying objects." He told me leaning low to the ground, shaking like a leaf.
Guess I can't blame Jackie for wanting to stay low. This snowman monster was wasting no time to finish what it started. Not that there was much left of the lab to destroy but the snowman had ways of causing more destruction. I wasn't sure if we were going to get out of this. Even our hiding spot was becoming a danger zone due to flying debris. Jackie pulled out his Monkey Staff transforming into a monkey to runaway while avoiding the debris and carrying me to safety.
We hid underneath a pile of rubble till the snowman left the scene. Wuya followed him in pursuit, obviously. She's an evil witch who'll follow the person who holds the cards. The one who stands above all others with the highest power. Good riddance is all I can say. She was a nauseating annoyance to have around.
The monks were back at the temple. Reminiscing about the events from earlier today. Losing the Lunar Locket and the Heart of Jong was a big lose for them. Master Fung came into the room a short time later giving them some advice on how they shouldn't give up despite this sudden lose. That was more than enough to encourage the monks to get up and get back the wu.
After a while all was quiet. Nothing but the sound of breathing was heard. I wanted to leave our hiding spot to check the lab. Make sure we were in the clear. Jackie wasn't having any of that, not yet anyway. The guy was scared of something else appearing for an attack; and it did happen though more someone entered our house and less attacking. I heard talking and immediately recognized the sound of the monks. Jack started going ape. Jumping out of his hiding spot he screamed and jumped and banged his fists around.
I ran out of my hiding spot just as Clay grabbed Jack by the head. Asking what was going on as Jack ditched the Monkey Staff, turning back to normal. Then he was dropped to the ground.
"Oh hi guys, man am I ever glad to see you." Said Jack moving around, touching the monks till he was pushed back.
"Did we just walk into some kind of parallels universe?" Asked Kimiko.
"No, Jackie just went a tad overboard after our little fiasco with a monstrous snowman." I told her.
"snowman, oh I like snowmen. Does he have a carrot for a nose?" Asked Omi.
"No, but he does have the Heart of Jong." Jack replied earning himself a hard push from Kimiko. I giggled in silence so Jackie wouldn't hear me.
"He destroyed all my robots and then he left with Wuya." Said Jack.
"Not very shocking or sad." I mumbled to myself.
"We must track down this most evil of snowman." Said Omi.
"Hey do you guys mind if I tag along?" I asked. "A change in scenery would be great." Honestly, I did want to get out of the house. Especially with the damage done here in the lab but I wanted to help the monks and get away from my brother. Knowing him he'll be clinging to me all night scared that snowman might return.
"Your always welcomed to join us little lady. Tag along." Said Clay to which I happily followed.
"Please take me with me." Said Jack. "I'll be all alone. I have no robots. I'm weak and helpless." His eyes grew big and watery. He looked ready to breakdown and cry.
Curse my good heart.
"Aw Jackie..." I looked to the others. Giving a look asking to let my brother come.
"We are Xiaolin warriors. We must protect the weak. Even if it is...Jack Spicer." Said Omi.
"That means yes doesn't it?" Said Jack throwing a robot head aside then jumping for joy and jumping over to hug Omi. Happily rubbing his head.
"I am most uncomfortable. Please be only touching me if you are kicking or chopping." Said Omi doing one of each on Jack causing him to fall on the ground.
"Come on Jackie, let's get going before frosty decides to return." I told him.
We spent a long walk back to the temple in silence. Obviously nobody was in the mood to talk to my brother. Can't say I blamed them. I was glad when we arrived at the temple. At least things won't be awkward anymore. The monks went ahead inside. Clay told Jackie and I to wait outside while they figured out where we'd bunk. Jackie was annoyed, mocking Clay's words, acting like some macho guy.
I was about to smack Jack when the sound of large footprints and yodeling broke him from his childish act while I gasped and stepped away. The snowman surprisingly spoke, saying it wanted Shen Gong Wu. Obviously Wuya filled him in on it. As the monster walked through the wall towards the temple, Jackie and I backed away through the doorway. Or we were until the monks popped up.
"We've got some serious ice to crush." Said Rai.
Pushed forward we all faced the snowman.
"Don't let him get near the vault." Said Kimiko.
"Please not the face or hair." Said Jack cowering in fear.
"Jackie move or you will get hit." I said pulling him up on his feet. Running over to the side as I watched the monks jump kick at the snowman only to be knocked back thanks to a snow wall old snowy made.
Jackie and I watched as the monks ran from snowy. I followed behind. Watching how snowy froze Rai and Kimiko, tied up Clay and got disarmed (literally) by Omi. At least for a moment before he grew six more arms. Now that is ridiculous. I shouted at the monks to runaway before they were crushed.
"Raksha, get the Shen Gong Wu." Said Wuya who appeared next to the snowman.
"Wuya your as cold as the snowman is evil." I told her.
"Thank you for the compliment. Now excuse me, I have Wu to collect." She replied flying after Raksha as she called him. I watched the monks make a U-turn back to the doorway they went through minutes ago. I quickly followed running around past the giant feet of Raksha's while avoiding the possibility of being squished.
"Okay I think its safe to say this snowman means business." I said a loud.
"Stay on your guard Maxine. That evil snowman could appear for the Wu any moment." Said Omi.
On cue we heard a tapping noise that came with a large disfigured shadow. From the glass window up above, the snowman tipped his hat off.
"Prepare yourself for defeat!" Cried Omi.
Raksha opened the window and turned into a large pile of snow. Burying us underneath then pulling himself together again. The others pulled out their own Wu. Ready to fight back. Rai and Kimiko took center stage. Summoning a whirlwind of air and fire around Raksha. The intense heat melted him in seconds as Wuya cried out for him. Clay opened up a gap in the ground. Allowing the water from the snowman to fell as did The Heart of Jong. It fell before the monks cold grab it. Clay punched himself as punishment for his failure.
Can't say I blame the guy for doing that but using the Fist of Tebagone was a little extreme. I get that you missed your chance to grab the heart but come on. Eventually, someone is bound to get the Heart of Jong but at least that snowman's been taken care of. Maybe now we can relax. Least that's what I was hoping for but Mr. Snowman decided he wasn't done. He came crawling up the stairs of the vault which Jack was down in. Stealing Shen Gong Wu, which was no surprise.
The rest of us hurried downstairs when we heard a loud scream to see everything. Jackie backing up while the snowman was climbing up. Eager to get his cold hands on the Wu. Jack claimed he was luring the snowman into a trap, which was a lie. To which Kimiko asked how to stop such a creature when it goes from water to ice? A good question, but no time to find an answer. We hurried up the stairs. The monks prepared for fighting while Jackie took off with the Wu using The Tunnel Armadillo. Raksha followed after him. Followed by Wuya who followed after Raksa. The rest of us were left where we stood. The monks groaned in disappointment. I groaned in annoyance. Don't see how things could get any worse.
Jack had narrowly escaped the evil snowman but he was safe. Far away from the temple he got out of the Tunnel Armadillo to count his good fortune. Unfortunately; the snowman and Wuya found Jack, demanding the Shen Gong Wu or rather one Wu in particular. Raksha took the Lunar Locket after shaking it off of Jack. Activating the Wu, bringing out the moon as it moved in front of the sun.
The five of us left the vault. Unbeknownst to us the sudden danger that was creeping up. Nobody noticed at first, then Rai pointed to the sky when a large shadow crawled our way. The once bright and luminous sunshine was being overlapped. A solar eclipse one could say. Except this one was creating an new ice age.
"This does not look good." Said Omi.
"Quick, everybody mosey on inside!" Shouted Clay and we wasted no time getting inside the temple. Closing the doors behind us as a strong wind blew a cold breeze our way.
"I think we're in trouble guys. Jackie must had grabbed the Lunar Locket when he stole the Wu then the snowman got it and created a new ice age." I explained. "Now the only way to fix this mess is to retrieve the Lunar Locket."
"Yes, I agree. We must think of something to undo this frozen mess." Said Omi.
"Yeah but right now we need to stay warm." Said Rai and he was right. Staying warm was our top priority.
Unfortunately, I had no spare clothes on me and I was not going to fly back home in this weather. Luckily, Kimiko came to my aide. This girl has more clothes then my own closet and we're about the same height, but I am slightly taller than her by seven inches. That puts my height between Kimiko and Rai right in the middle. I tried on some of the clothes Kimiko gave me and I'll be honest her clothes were a tad small on me. Still, they fit my body and Clay was kind enough to lend me one of his spare coats. Now I'm ready to deal with the cold weather.
Once everyone was dressed for the fringed temperatures we gathered outside to observe the situation. We were officially in a new Ice Age. Everything around us was either covered in snow or frozen over. Even Dojo had ice on his tail due to blisters that froze over. Suddenly, my brother came walking up wearing his snow gear and old fashioned snow shoes. Shaking like a blender from the cold just like Clay.
Rai had suggested beating up Jack to Clay to warm up, saying.
"Maybe we can warm up with a good old fashion butt kicking contest."
Then Jack started begging on his knees to stay at the temple.
"Why so you can steal more of our Wu?" Questioned Kimiko.
"No, no, I wanna help you get back your Wu and mine. That evil snowman cleaned me out." Protested Jack.
Only problem was how finding the snowman. He could be anywhere by now and its far too cold to search for him. Luckily, Master Fung had some useful advice for us. He said and I quote.
"Sometimes the way to find your enemy is to let him find you first."
And thus a eureka moment was born. If we couldn't find the snowman, we'd get him to come to us. Omi, Kimiko, and Raimundo used their elemental powers and signature Wu to create an enormous rainfall of boiling water above the temple. Melting a large portion of the snow, and burning half of Jack's face in the process. Screaming in agony when he removed his hands from his face. He should have gotten under Clay's umbrella like I had.
Master Fung warned us of a great evil that was close and growing strong. Jack took it as a compliment till Master Fung told him there was evil far greater than my brother.
Meanwhile, said snowman of the hour was resting upon his ice throne in his ice palace that over looked the Earth below. Wuya was trying to get him to hunt for Shen Gong Wu so they could rule the world; but Raksha told her that he already ruled the frozen tundra known as Earth. Wuya tried to say something else but Raksha interrupted. He had noticed the temple grounds green and bright with light. He would not stand for warmth in his snow land and went off to the temple.
I wasn't sure what I could do to help but I knew I couldn't just sit around when my friends were fighting to release the sun. What could I do? I may be intelligent and skillful in various things but I'm not like the monks. Sure I took some judo when I was six till I was eleven but I've never fought against something like this. I'm use to beating the kids back in my judo class and the bullies who occasionally picked on my brother but I was never violent.
Sorry I am rambling nonsense. I tend to do that sometimes. Just trying to take my mind off of things that occasionally upset me. Maybe it was best if I stood on the sidelines while the monks fought the snowman, but I wanted to help. My brother may not approve of my life choices but does his opinion really matter? I may hate myself later and I can't believe I'm saying it but I think Chase Young may be right. I have to decide what it is I really want; and right now I want to help my friends.
The monks held back the snowman best they could but Raksha still got the best of them. It was a back-to-back battle that didn't last very long. That dame snowman could not be defeated. He was invincible, and to, think if not for the Heart of Jong old frosty wouldn't be kicking and breathing. Having watched enough from the sidelines I jumped in to battle. Time to put those lessons mom and dad paid for to use. After Kimiko was frozen I jumped in front of Raksha.
"Hold it right there frosty. You'll have to get by me if you want to go through with your plans." I said taking a fighting stance. "Come at me." I gave a hand signal telling the big snowball to attack. He threw a couple punches and stomps but I dodged them all. Hopping and jumping and sliding sideways. Only thing I couldn't dodge for long was his frost breathe. Took one deep breathe of cold air to freeze me in a block of ice. I could move my eyes but nothing else. All I could do was watch the snowman approach Jack. Soon to be challenged to a Xiaolin Showdown by Omi; unfortunately, I couldn't hear anything but I think Omi made an extra deal with frosty. I'll have to ask Omi about that later.
The scene changed, creating an icy hockey rink scene. Omi and Raksha were in hockey gear in front of each other. A loud siren rang signaling the start of the game. Now I'm not a hockey fanatic but I watched the two skate with grace back and forth on the ice. Retrieving the puck which was actually a Wu. Trying to get into one another's goal. Raksha pulled a couple dirty tricks. Stopping Omi from getting to the goal, but Omi fought back. It was an evenly matched battle. Raksha soon got a taste of his own medicine when Omi used his elemental power of water to strike Raksha. Turning him into a pile of melting snow. With one strong swing Omi knocked the Heart of Jong into the goal. He had won the Showdown. The scene changed, I was free from my ice block prison thanks to Kimiko. Having gained the Lunar Locket, Omi activated it and released the sun.
"And now that we have so much snow. Anyone up to making a snowman?" Asked Omi pulling out a carrot.
The rest of us were unamused. After everything we had just gone through he has the nerve to ask us if we want to build a snowman? What the hell Omi?! We hit him with some snowballs and dressed Omi as a snowman. Payback can be cruel but it feels so good.
A while later while Master Fung was talking to the monks I decided to talk to Jack. It wasn't easy to say this but I had to say it. I would just come out with it.
"Jackie, I'm moving in with the monks. I want to train along side them and grow stronger."
Upon saying that Jackie's jaw dropped. He starred at me in shock and disbelief. Took him several seconds before he could speak. At first he yelled at me. Saying he would not have his little sister join those loser monks.
"Hell no! You are not staying with those losers! No sister of mine will be joining those Xiaolin losers!"
I rolled my eyes and told Jack to shut up. I am my own person who has a right to make my own decisions. If I want to join the monks then I'm joining the monks. Jackie may be my brother but he doesn't tell me what to do. He tried to talk me out of it but I wouldn't hear it. This was something I needed to do. Jackie may not understand it but if I am ever going to grow stronger I need to decide what's best for me. And this just happens to be it. Sorry big brother but baby sister's moving out.
And that's the end of that chapter
Sorry for the wait, just adding a few extra things to make the chapter better
