Chapter 12

The Emperor Scorpion Strikes Back

~Maxine's POV~

You know today is going to be one of those days when you spot Shen Gong Wu glowing and floating in the air without an explination. What happened you may be asking? Let me explain, it all started outside on the temple grounds. My friends and I had just finished our morning chores when Dojo started acting up all shaky and talking gibberish nonsense. So I asked him what was wrong, to which he responded saying this.

"Either I got a hold of some bad sushi, or somethings happening to the Shen Gong Wu." He pointed above the vaults tower where a bright green glowing beam shined down on the Vault tower. Sucking the Wu into the sky. Reminds me of aliens invading Earth in this movie I saw back at school.

"That's pretty weird, even for Wu." Said Rai.

I couldn't have agreed with Rai more. All the Wu collected was flying off and it almost took Omi with it. He was holding onto the Star Hanabi when suddenly the Wu began to float taking Omi in the air. We ran after him, Clay being the first to grab a hold of Omi by the legs. Then Rai gabbed Clay's legs uh pants but the pants slipped down to Clay's feet as Rai was hoisted into the air. Kimiko had to jump to grab Rai's feet and pull him and the guys back down to Earth but found herself going up. I'm getting the feeling that this is a running gag. Save for the joking and endless laughter.

With my friends flying high I had to act fast. Lucky for me I had on my sneakers on with the jets installed in them. I was wearing them while mopping the floors in the dining area. I activated my shoes and started to fly up, grabbing hold of Kimiko's ankles and pulled back. Okay I'm trying to pull four people back to the ground using all my strength but my jet boots can only handle so much pressure before they burn up and die. Which is exactly what happened after a minute of pulling. Now I was going up with everyone else. I soon felt something grab my leg and I nearly freaked out till I heard Dojo's voice.

He was going on saying bad idea over and over until Omi lost his grip on the Wu and we all went falling down. Landing hard on the ground with a loud thud.

"Dojo dude how come you didn't just fly?" Asked Rai.

"Good idea, just a little late." Said Dojo.

~Normal POV~

Meanwhile, an unexpected discovery would soon be revealed at Jack's mansion. He was in an opening area inside playing basketball with...'himself'. He used the Ring of Nine Dragons to create clones of himself. He was dribbling the ball past several clones. All of whom looked goofier then the original Jack. Just as Jack was about to make a shot, a fatter Jack slapped the ball out of his hands. The ball rolled up to a Jack dressed as a referee.

"Foul!" He cried out.

Jack and the fat Jack got into a heated argument that soon escalated into a brawl. The referee jumped in to break up the fight and all three Jack's got twisted up in different positions. All three looked up to see Wuya, who had just come flying in.

"The Ring of Nine Dragons is for creating evil. Not copies of yourself for your own amusement or picking your teeth." She told the Jack's. "Besides, one of you is enough I can stand."

Once Wuya was done lecturing, Jack noticed the Helmet of Jong floating in the air. "Hey what's up with the Wuya?" He asked turning Wuya's attention to the floating Wu.

"It appears the time we long await has finally arrived." She said, watching the Wu fly through the roof before releasing a maniacal laugh as she flew away.

~Back at the Temple/Normal POV~

After the Wu had floated off the monks went to Master Fung. Telling him what had happened to which he brought everyone inside the vault to explain. Everyone sat in a circle as Master Fung created visual images though smoke. Though perhaps the best way to describe the scene would be imagining a Shaman creating a living moving story through smoke. What Master Fung is doing is similar to that but with more color added in.

"The planets have aligned themselves as they do once every thousand years." He began.

"Once every thousand years." Rai imitated Master Fung. "That can only mean bad news."

"The Sheng Gong Wu will act on there own. They will travel the earth until they find each other. Once they have, they will form Mala Mala Jong."

"I knew it, bad news." Said Rai.

Omi jumped up on the caldron spoofing away the smoke image to speak. "Ha I m not afraid. I defeated Mala Mala Jong before." He sounded confident in himself.

Master Fung pushed Omi away and off the caldron. Allowing the pictures to reappear as he spoke. "This time Mala Mala Jong will be more powerful. He will be made of many more Sheng Gong Wu. It will not rest until it has found them all and realized its destiny to become the fearsome four."

The images showed four fierce powerful Wu-like creatures destroying a village as people ran away in fear.

"Mala Mala must not be allowed to form. You must work together by learning to wisely use your individual elements and skills." Master Fung told the monks.

"I promise you we will defeat this evil together. Even if I have to do it all by myself." Said Omi striking a couple fighting poses before punching the smoke then tripping into the caldron. The four monks and Dojo gathered round looking inside the pot where Omi had fallen.

Maxine extended a hand out for Omi to grab. Helping the little monk out of the pot.

"Come on, we've got a Shen Gong Wu monster to stop." Maxine said.

Through the skies flew the mythical Chinese dragon, following the scent of magic. On his back the five monks rode as he flew to the location where the Wu was supposedly gathering. An island full of dead looking trees laid in the middle of the sea; a deep hazy fog surrounded the area as Dojo came down for a landing. Soon as everyone was off Dojo and he reverted back to his normal small dragon size, the monks made their way through the fog.

It was a short walk till they came to a clearing. Where a large mountain laid in wait reaching high in the sky. A discussion for what to do next was discussed. After Clay made a comment about their surroundings.

"This place is creepier than Auntie May giving herself a sponge bath."

"Ew!" Kimiko and Maxine said at the same time.

"I say we spread out! We will cover more dirt." Said Omi fanning the fog out of his face.

"First to find anything will call out for the others." Rai said.

"Dojo what do you think?" Asked Kimiko.

"I don't know. I'm still thinking about Auntie May's sponge bath." He said slightly disturbed.

Everyone walked forward before going their own way. The fog may have been thick but once they reached and began to climb up the mountain it simply vanished. The fog was no longer an issue, but finding the missing Wu was another story. As the monks climbed Clay, Rai, and Kimiko were in a line while Omi and Maxine got way ahead of them. They reached a flat terrain where they took the time to look around. The Wu had to be somewhere. Assuming this was where they disappeared. Omi spotted the Wu heading far right towards a cave. Before he and Maxine could go after them, Jack Spicer appeared.

"Not so fast baldie and Maxie. First you'll both have to get by Jack Spicer, evil boy genius." He said, taking off after the Wu.

Omi looked below at the remaining monks climbing.

"Ugh this is most ridiculous." Omi began. "We do not need help to defeat Jack Spicer. We can handle this ourselves Maxine."

"Omi I don't think that's such a good idea. You remember what Master Fung said, only together can we accomplish the task at hand." Maxine explained.

"But it is just Jack we are facing." Omi argued. "We will be able to defeat him in mere seconds."

Knowing she wouldn't be able to change Omi's mind Maxine agreed to tag along. Hopefully Omi was right and nothing would go wrong. The pair ran after Jack, who ran down a stone staircase into a large open space area. In the middle of the space was all the Shen Gong Wu gathered in a large glowing green ember flame. It was magnificent to look at but now wasn't the time for that. Omi and Maxine came running down the stairs after Jack.

"Jack Spicer, I order you to deceit and desist at once!" Omi cried out.

"The Ring of Nine Dragons!" Jack cried out splitting himself into six odd looking versions of himself. Each one stranger then the last, especially the one that looked and acted like a donkey. Omi and Maxine exchanged a look to each other.

"You have only weakened yourself by dividing into so many Jacks, and you had little upper body strength to begin with." Omi told Jack.

"Jack's attack!" Jack cried out running towards Omi and Maxine with his clones behind him.

The Jack's came at the pair at full speed. Looks of determination were on their faces as they charged into battle. Only to have their battle time cut short thanks to Omi and Maxine. The pair held their ground against the Jack's. All while the Wu swirled into movement to create Mala Mala Jong. The pair worked as fast as they could but it was too late. Mala Mala rose from out of the flame in all his Wu glory. The Jack clones gasped in shock. Maxine couldn't believe what she was seeing. Mala Mala in the flesh uh Wu. As his first act of coming to life, he released a powerful flame at Omi. Sending him flying face first against the cavern wall.

"Excellent work Jack, your stupidity gave Mala Mala Jong time to form." Wuya told Jack.

"I've always been a team player." Jack replied standing up from the ground.

"Step one is complete. Now we must be patient and wait to make our next move when the time is right." Explained Wuya but Jack was impatient. Ignoring Wuya's words he walked up too have a discussion with Mala Mala.

Jack tried to convince Mala Mala to join him in his conquest for world domination. Maxine ran over to help Omi up while Mala Mala sent Jack flying with a swack of his arm into the Jack clones.

"Some day's, its hardly worth being being evil." Said a exhausted Wuya.

Mala Mala took off using the Longie Kite towards freedom. All Omi and Maxine could do was watch him fly through the cave ceiling. Sending boulders flying downward. The pair had stopped Jack but failed to stop the Wu from creating Mala Mala Jong. Only thing they could do now was leave the cave and tell the others what had happened.

Maxine helped Omi up on his feet, up the stairs to the cave opening. Clay, Rai, Kimiko and Dojo were already waiting for them. Watching the pair come out before turning around to see Mala Mala Jong fly over them off the island.

"Omi, Maxine what happened?" Kimiko asked.

The pair exchange a look before Omi spoke.

"I am afraid, uh Mala Mala Jong has come to life." He said, the look of guilty and sorrow were written all over his face.

"I can't believe we got here too late." Said a disappointed Rai.

"Aw man I feel more embarrassed then a mule at the Kentucky Derby." Said Clay.

Maxine looked back at Omi who looked away. She wondered why Omi didn't tell the others the truth; but then again, why didn't she? She still could but the look on Omi's face was depressing. The little guy felt bad enough over what happened. Confessing now would just make things worse for the little guy.

The only thing anyone could do now was return too the temple and explain to Master Fung the dilemma. Perhaps he should shed some light on the situation.

"According to the Ancient Scrolls the rise of Mala Mala Jong will allow a new Shen Gong Wu will be revealed." He told the monks who were gathered around him as he laid the scroll that revealed new Shen Gong Wu. "It's called thee Emperor Scorpion. Whoever possesses it has control of all Shen Gong Wu. If we can find it we can use it to break Mala Mala Jong apart before it turns into the Fearsome Four."

"Excellent! Great ending and not to long. Dragged a little in the middle though." Rai expressed his feelings for Master Fung's story explination.

"Don't get too excited Raimundo, here comes the bad part." Kimiko added in.

"If the Emperor Scorpion falls into the wrong hands, the Fearsome Four will be unstoppable. This will be our only chance to save the world from sudden destruction." Master Fung finished.

"Why does there always have to be a bad part?" Asked Rai to no one in peculiar.

The tension in the room held a depressing hold on everyone. What I mean is everyone had a mix of heavy emotions stirring in them. They had already failed to stop Mala Mala Jong once. If they didn't stop him before becoming the Fearsome Four soon, the whole world would suffer their wrath.

Meanwhile, at Jack's house he had split himself with the Ring of Nine Dragons, again. The clones were all doing their own thing while Jack complained to Wuya about finding Mala Mala Jong and this diabolic plan of hers. After a short conversation Jack brought back his clones and took the ring off. Within moments of doing that the ground began to shake. A large crash came through the wall revealing Mala Mala Jong in the Wu.

"Mala Mala I've been expecting you." Wuya said to him.

"I see you've reconsidered my generous offer. First you have to work on your evil laugh. Try this...(demonstrates)" Said Jack but Mala Mala said nothing. "Okay maybe that was a little advanced. How about we start with an evil sneer? (demonstrates again)"

The pair came in close contact with each other. Faces touching as Mala Mala burned and punched Jack into one of his large computers.

"Well you definitely have the evil roar down." Jack said before being crushed by machinery and pipes.

Next thing Jack knew Mala Mala was tearing the lab to pieces. Almost as though he was looking for something, and that's exactly what he was doing. Course Jack being an idiot mentioned having the Ring of Nine Dragons on him in his pocket. That seemed to catch Mala Mala's attention. Jack freaked out and tried flying away but he got caught in the Silk Spitter's webbing. Mala Mala walked up, reached a hand out, tore off Jack's pants exposing the ring. Sending it flying onto Mala Mala's finger.

As if Mala Mala wasn't bad enough now the Fearsome Four had risen. Using the Golden Tiger Claws they escaped through a portal leaving Jack hanging and Wuya in bright spirts.

"Yes, step two is now complete." She said.

"What's going on?" Asked a confused Jack.

The Emperor Scorpion Shen Gong Wu has revealed itself."

"The what?"

"Once we posses it, we will be able to control the Fearsome Four."

"The who?"

"Then together we will rule the world!"

"Okay I got that part. Let's do it!"

Jack struggled to get off the wall but kept being pulled back by the sticky webbing. Wuya groaned and shook her head. Knowing Jack this could take a while.

Back at the temple Dojo and the Monks used the Tunnel Armadillo to dig down towards the Center of the Earth. Why? That was where the Emperor Scorpion Shen Gong Wu lay hidden. Little did they know that the Fearsome Four and Jack Spicer were also heading that way. Who would be the first to reach the Wu? One way to find out.

The Armadillo came to a landing on a rocking flat terrain. Everybody jumped out landing a couple feet away from their transportation vehicle. Clay asked aloud where the Wu could be to which Omi said on a small mound of harden lava. Sure enough the w was on top of a mound of harden lava. Just a couple feet away from where the monks stood. But before they could react the Fearsome Four made their grand entrance.

"Oh no! We're too late. Its the Fearsome Four." Cried a terrified Dojo hiding away in Clay's hat. Only popping his head out once he was comfortable. "According to the Ancient Scroll the Fearsome Fours appearance mocks the end of the world." He got super close to Clay's face freaking the already nervous cowboy.

If things were bad now they were about to get worse. Jack Spicer popped up through a lava geyser in his moler vehicle. Coming to a loud crash when landing on the ground above the monks.

"Hello Xiaolin losers, ready to admit defeat?" He said.

"Never! I will defeat you and the Fearsome Four!" Omi cried out taking a stand.

"I will defeat you and the Fearsome Four. Dude get over yourself!" Jack told Omi after mocking him. This angered Omi for a moment before he calmed down.

"So which ones do you wanna take?" Asked Rai getting his fists ready to fight. The others backing him up.

"I will take them all." Omi said jumping on Jack then gliding through the air. "Monkey Strike!" He started to attack or attempt to attack the Fearsome Four to no avail.

He was hopping all over the place trying to inflict damage on the creatures but they weren't affected by anything. All the remaining monks could do was watch from the sidelines.

"I can't tell is he winning?" Maxine asked.

Having grown tired one of the Fearsome Four creatures flicked Omi into the air.

"I'm guessing no." Kimiko answered.

"Incoming!" Maxine cried out. Omi was flying directly towards them.

Quickly everyone moved out of the way as Omi landed in an attack pose. Catching his breathe the others ran back taking their own fighting stances at the Fearsome Four.

"I say its time to kick some Mala Mala butt." Clay said.

The monks rush towards the Fearsome Four in attack mode. Ready to give it everything they had in them to stop the horrific Foursome from gaining the Wu; unfortunately, Lady Luck wasn't on the monks side at that moment. The Fearsome Four was a step ahead of the monks. Throwing them out of balance. Attacking them with their opposite elements before the monks had a chance to strike.

Kimiko was washed away by a tidal wave.

Clay was blown off his feet and trapped in a molten cage.

Rai went flying on a flaming ball of fire nearly hitting Omi in the process but the flames were too much for the little guy knocking him out.

Maxine, now by herself knew she was no match for the Fearsome Four. She knew that the only way to stop them was with the Emperor Scorpion. Activating her helipack that she'd brought on the trip she flew up to claim the Wu. She flew as fast as she could but Jack beat her. Claiming the Wu as his own.

"Sorry Maxine but this Wu is mine for the taking." Jack said.

"Give it to me Jackie please." Maxine said.

"No can do sister, the Fearsome Four are mine to control. Emperor Scorpion!" Jack cried out gaining control of the Fearsome Four who were under his power.

"Okay I tried to be nice but now this little sister's gonna go Kung Fu on your ass Jack!" Maxine cried out going in for the kill but she was grabbed and thrown at a molten wall by one of the Fearsome Four creatures.

Now that the Fearsome Four were under Jack's control, he could make them do anything he wanted.

"Fearsome Four I command you to...laugh evily."

The Fearsome Four obeyed.

"Now laugh evily while hopping on one leg."

The Fearsome Four obeyed.

"Enough gloating let's get out of here." Wuya told Jack.

"Okay, okay one sec." He replied. "Now laugh evily while tap dancing!"

The Fearsome Four obeyed.

Jack broke out into a laugh fit at the sight of this but pulled himself together when he saw Wuya giving him a look.

"Now for the grand exit laugh."

Jack, Wuya and the Fearsome Four made their gateway. Leaving the monks all bruised up and exhausted.

Later at the temple, the monks were working together to balance and move around on a large ball round an obstacle course.

"Now that Jack control's the Fearsome Four there's no stopping them." Said Rai.

"I can't believe how badly we messed up." Said Kimiko.

"Yeah its not everyday a fella is responsible for the end of the world." Said Clay.

Maxine gave Omi a look. This secret keeping had to end.

"Stop!" Omi cried out bringing the ball to a halt as the others tried to maintain balance. "It is my fault."

"Mine too." Said Maxine. "When Mala Mala first came together we went after him alone instead of calling for help. I knew it wasn't a good idea but I went with it anyway."

"We may have forgotten to mention that before." Said Omi.

"Doesn't matter now, whoa. We tried fighting the Fearsome Four together and lost." Said Rai trying not to tip the ball over with everyone on it including himself.

"Yeah we even got our butts handed to us." Said Clay as everyone went flying to the left side of the ground while the ball bounced away.

Master Fung stepped up to the monks with Dojo on his shoulders.

"Working together is more then just fighting together. It is how you use each other's strengths wisely." He explained.

"Hey could somebody please translate?" Asked Rai.

"Well I reckon Master Fung is speaking of our elements." Said Clay snapping his fingers.

"In other words we should focus on what we do best." Said Kimiko sounding motivated.

"Ah if only snoozing was an element." Spoke Dojo jumping down near Omi and Maxine. "Cheer up kids, you'll get another chance to save the world."

That brought a smile to Omi's face. Then he spoke about how when the time came around he'd show true leadership by not showing true leadership. Maxine on the other hand still looked gloomy.

"What is troubling you young monk?" Master Fung asked.

"Master Fung I want to help stop the Fearsome Four but I'm not cut out for fighting those things. I know I've got skills in martial arts but what good are those when I haven't an element of my own?" Maxine asked questioning her abilities as a monk. "I've hardly been using my full strength at all in battle. What good am I if I can't help my friends?"

"Know this young monk, sometimes the things we think we want most in life we already have. Even when one is afraid of what others might think the best they can do is find courage and do what they believe is right." Spoke Master Fung placing a hand on Maxine's shoulder. "You will find your true potential when the time comes."

"Yes Master Fung." Said Maxine giving a slight bow to the master.

At Jack's house instead of making preperations for world domination, he had the Fearsome Four working repairs in his lab.

"Time to trigger the doomsday solarium." Said Wuya.

"And which doomsday solarium would that be?" Asked Jack shaking paint off his boot.

"The one where we unleash the evil forces of the Fearsome Four and destroy the world!" Said Wuya going a tad over her head with excitement as she laughed manically.

But before the next step could take place, the monks came crashing through the wall in the Tunnel Armadillo ready to fight. They jumped out taking their fighting stances.

"I believe you have something that belongs to us." Said Omi.

"And I believe you just ruined my freshly painted wall." Jack pointed out. His outfit was covered in paint thanks to the blowback. "Emperor Scorpion! Fearsome Four do your thing."

Sending the Fearsome Four on the attack the monks took their Dragon X formation and lite up the scene.

Kimiko took on the heat sending a large fireball right back at her attacker.

Rai blew with the breeze and sent it spinning back.

Clay and Omi took out their attackers with a spin and a kick.

Wuya was not impressed with the Fearsome Four's fighting progress. Calling them bigger losers than Jack. Omi grabbed the Golden Tiger Claws that Mala Mala had released when Clay kicked him back.

"Maxine, you know what to do." Said Omi handing her the Wu.

"Golden Tiger Claws!" She cried out jumping through a portal she made. Teleporting next to Jack; kicking the Emperor Scorpion out of his hands.

Wuya tried to grab it but being a ghost she was wasting time making that pitiful attempt. The Wu landed on the floor, the monks and the Fearsome Four touching it at the same time. Oh and Jack burned his hands when touching two flaming legs but that's not important. Its funny but not important.

"We challenge you to a five-to-four way showdown. We wager our Falcons Eye against your Orb of Tomomi." Omi said earning some groaning moans from the Fearsome Four.

"Sounds like a yes to me." Stated Dojo.

"The game is the ropes of darkness. Last to fall wins. Let's go, Xiaolin Showdown!"

The area around them stretched out gaining new heights and appearance. A circular hole was created with long metal chains with hooks on the ends. The monks and Fearsome Four all grabbed hold of a chain as the room branched out. Jack and Dojo and Wuya watched from afar on a ledge as the showdown began.

"Gong Yi Tempi!" Everyone cried out as the ceiling above closed on them.

Poor Jack and Dojo couldn't see the showdown now.

"What a ripoff I can't see anything." Said Jack.

"And these are the good seats." Said Dojo.

Only one who could watch the show now was Wuya. She watched from above as the Fearsome Four got a head start in the showdown. Using the Orb a waterfall of water came shooting at Omi nearly knocking him down. Had Raimundo not swooped in Omi would have been out of the game. The monks tried to stay hidden from the Fearsome Four while swinging on the chains and by using Clay's hat to hide Omi's glowing dots.

There's back and forth swinging on the chains. Clay swings by knocking one of the Fearsome Four down into the darkness. Another followed but it took Rai with it when he wasn't looking. In order to stay ahead of the Fearsome Four, Kimiko used the Falcon's eye to direct Clay against oncoming attacks. Things were going fine for a few seconds till Kimiko got knocked down by a surprise attack. Tossing the Wu to Clay before the darkness engulphed her. Clay took charge using the Wu to avoid oncoming attacks on himself, Omi and Maxine.

Jut when things appeared to be looking up it got worse. Omi got punched in the face, hit the wall, sliding down into the darkness. Clay joined him seconds later vanishing in the darkness. Then there was one, Maxine against two of the Fearsome Four. Her friends were out of the game but they still tried to help guide her using the Falcon's Eye. Maxine followed their instructions letting them guide her away from a smack down. However; it was still too dark to see well enough even with the Falcon's Eye assisting Maxine. Too prevent loosing the Showdown, Kimiko activated her fire element and set streaks of fire up the walls lighting the place up. Providing all the light Maxine could want but nearly burning Jack and Dojo above.

The heat was on as Maxine swung and dodged double trouble attacks from the Dynamic Duo Foursome. They almost got her a few times with their punches and the Orb of Tornomi. She was trying her hardest to hold on her own but it was becoming unbearable. She wasn't sure she could keep holding on on her own. She was up against two Wu monsters with no Wu or elemental powers. How could she possibly win? She probably couldn't and the thought was upsetting; but Master Fung's voice rang through her ears. Like he was talking to her from beyond. Telling her what he said earlier about finding courage and awakening her true potential. The words of her teacher gave her the push she needed.

"Time to end the showdown, no more holding back." Said Maxine kicking off against the wall to give her a good strong push.

Aiming right at one of the Fearsome Four she kicked him back hard enough that he released the Orb from his grasp. Quickly grabbing it Maxine summoned its power, unleashing a massive powerful waterfall geyser up and down upon the remining Fearsome Four duo. Sending them flying down to the ground which left Maxine as the winner of the Showdown.

The room reverted back to its original form. Looking like Jack Spicer's lab again. The monks stood around Maxine who held all the wagered Wu won in the showdown.

"You did it Maxine!" Said Kimiko.

"Great job Max!" Said Rai giving a thumbs up.

"You are the best little missy!" Said Clay.

"Maxine that was most excellent. I couldn't have done it better myself." Said Omi.

"Actually you guys, we're all the best. By working together we took down the Fearsome Four and saved the world." Maxine told her friends.

"So are you ready to do the honors and break up Mala Mala Jong for us?" Rai asked her.

Jack quietly sneaked away as Maxine was about to answer when Omi whispered a suggestion to her.

"Oh good idea Omi, Emperor Scorpion!" Said Maxine. "Mala Mala Jong, I've heard from the grape vine that my brother, Jack Spicer likes basketball. What do you boys say to a game?"

"Cool, so who gets first pick?" Asked Jack only to be grabbed by Mala Mala and used as a ball to dribble around the room.

And that's the end of that chapter

Took a while but I think the wait is worth it
