'I'm Willing to Try'

It was early evening and fires were starting to rise up at camp. Kate walked along the shoreline barefoot with her jeans cuffed up around her

ankles. It had only been two days since the raft was launched. Thoughts clouded over her head and worry rained down on her. Have they been

picked up? Is the raft even working? What if something happened? I never got to say good-bye... Guilt washed over her on her last thought.

She sighed and her mind wandered back to her letter...Why did I even bother to write that...it's obvious that Sawyer will read it. Is that what I

want? Sawyer to read it? Why not? As soon as I rescued I'm going to jail, no matter what he thinks of me. Suddenly, a green glint of light

caught her eye. Squinting into the water she couldn't tell what it was. Kate waded through the white foam of the ocean. It was the bottle. The

breath caught in Kate's throat. What happened to the raft? Is Sawyer okay? She grabbed the bottleneck and ran back to shore. She sat in the

sand, bottle next to her. Wiping away a tear, Kate opened the bottle quickly looking for her own letter. Tears clouded her eyes as her hands

found it. She reread it over again, as if the words had changed.

My name is Katherine, or rather Kate. I really don't have anyone to write to, considering they either hate me or that they are dead. But

maybe my dad, step dad actually might take interest in reading this. Please forward to Sergeant Austin when this is found.

Dear Daddy,

I was on Oceanic Flight 815, as you probably have heard. I'm okay Dad. It's not bad here besides the fact that there's monsters, polar bears,

and crazy people in the jungle kidnapping survivors. Sounds like a pretty screwed up episode of the Twilight Zone, huh? But it's not all bad,

I've made some new friends here. I hope you get to meet some of them. I know you'd like them Daddy. When nothing bad is happening here,

this place is quite beautiful. The beach with white sand, the sparkling blue ocean...it seems like a fairy tale. And believe it or not I think I

finally found my prince charming. I just hope for a happy ending.

Love,
Kate

As Kate's eyes fell to the end of the letter, she gasped. Kate smiled through the tears, feeling more sadness yet happiness than she had in her

entire life. This is what she had read:

P.s. His name is Sawyer.

-Freckles, you know damned well I ain't anywhere near a 'Prince Charming', but if it means being with you, I'll give it a try.
Love, Sawyer.

A/N: So? I thinking of making a third sequel and i even have notes for a fourth. But it's up to you readers!
