We didn't encounter any bandits that were in the village, at least any that were alive, which gave me some time to analyze my new partner.

Lissa was adorable, sort of how I'd imagine having a little sister would be. She was much smaller than me, barely getting to my shoulders, and was wearing a yellow and white dress, the former color matching her hair color. Despite being dirty and walking through smoke and rubble, she seemed to emulate such positive energy that it made me feel more confident in what I was doing. The staff she held was unique as well, being a metal rod with intricate designs throughout the metal that had a light blue orb at the top, with the metal bending over it as if holding it into place, despite the orb not touching the staff at all. She told me that she was 17, edging towards 18 when I asked.

I was forced out of my own thoughts when I started hearing clang noises in the distance. As we kept going and increased our pace, the clang noises started getting louder until we found ourselves in a small area free of a ton of smoke and debris. And in the center, a battle was ensuing.

I counted a total of three people fighting the bandits in the clearing, a blue-haired swordsman, a knight on a horse, and Robin, who was currently killing two bandits at a time with a single spell. They seemed to be in control for the most part, but in the distance, I could count six more bandits crossing a small bridge and about to join the melee.

"Those are the people in my group! At least, the two guys are. I'm not sure who the girl is," Lissa said.

"That's Robin, a person I came across a little bit earlier."

"Oh ok. Well, come on. We need to help them!"

Lissa went off at a sprint, heading towards the swordsman that was now taking on two people at once. He was losing ground though, and as I chased Lissa, I noticed he was starting to get cuts and bruises along his arms. I wanted to try and help, but I wanted to be careful not to hit him while trying to kill the bandits.

That's when Robin came in.

Robin, using what I'm guessing was a wind spell, forced both of the bandits of their feet and pushed them twenty feet away, both landing on their head and immediately going still. I shuddered at that.

"Thanks, Robin. I appreciate it," said the swordsman. He looked behind him and saw me and Lissa approach, gaining a large smile when he saw Lissa.

"Lissa! You're alright! Thank Naga."

"Only reason I wasn't killed was for David here. He saved me from some bandits that chased me." Lissa said. "David, this is Chrom, my brother."

"Thanks for that. Don't know what I would've done if Lissa ended up not coming home with us." Chrom said, patting me on the back.

"Mind helping us clean these guys up? We'd love some extra help."

"Sure. I'll do what I can."

Chrom smiled at me and turned, charging into the nearest bandit and instantly getting into combat. I stood nervously, looking at all the bandits that were now getting closer.

"Hey, don't worry. Chrom won't let anything happen to you," Lissa said. "Besides, if you get injured, I'll heal you up in no time!"

My confidence a little renewed, I followed Chrom into the melee, standing a bit behind him and prepping a wind spell.

There were a couple of bandits now approaching us, all of them wielding an axe with a blade bigger than my head. I released a wind spell towards them, sending them back towards the bridge area. The bridge in of itself wasn't very big or wide, which led me to an idea.

As the bandits started getting back up, I launched another wind spell at them, forcing them back once more. However, this time around I tried my best to angle them towards the edge of the bridge. This succeeded for one of them, as they tumbled off the bridge and into whatever was below. However, the other two caught themselves before they went down. Given from experience, I knew that if they were ready for it, a wind spell wouldn't be effective at all at pushing them anymore.

That's when the knight appeared.

With a massive lance, he speared one of them clean through the body, sending the mangled mess down the bridge, and out of sight. The last bandit only had a second to react before a thunder spell shook his entire body, making him twitch and scream before falling down, lifeless. I looked over to see Robin with a tome in hand, her other hand pointing at the now-dead bandit.

At this point, Chrom had joined up with Frederick who was know crossing the bridge and confronting another small group of bandits. I noticed as well that there was one bandit much farther away near a church who was yelling at his fellow bandits, most likely their leader who was telling them what to do.

Deciding to use Chrom and the knight as distractions, I sneaked by and went towards the leader, who was now alone. I readied a fire spell, but before I could launch it, I saw a new bandit, one with a bow, ready his arrow and fire it at me. I let go of the spell and ducked instantly, diving to the ground as the arrow flew by. I quickly got up and ran towards some cover, which so happened to be a couple of wooden crates.

Arrows were soon flying all around me, some hitting the wood and shattering and others landing on the ground next to me. I figured I could wait until they no longer had arrows, when the leader suddenly kicked one of the crates into me, forcing all the air in my lungs out.

"Well look here. A coward." He raised his axe. "Not a fan of them"

Before he could lower his ax, he was swept off his feet by Robin, a wind spell making him stagger awkwardly, but far from disabling him. I got up and scrambled away, positioning myself next to Robin.

"So. You do have powers. Would've been nice if you told me about them," she said, launching yet another wind spell at him.

"I didn't know," I explained. "I found out about them with Lissa."

"Hmrrph. Whatever. Help me with this guy. Seems he's more resilient to magic than the other guys."

Together we started using spells, sending him more and more back. A fire spell to send him scrambling, and a wind spell to knock him down. I tried using a thunder spell to finish him off when I was pushed to the side by Robin. I fell down and was about to say something when I saw a nearby arrow on the ground.

I'd have to thank her later.

"Deal with the archer. I can handle the big guy." Robin said, passing me as she went for the leader.

I got up and instantly ducked as yet another arrow went by. It was getting annoying at this point, so jumping from crate to crate, I slowly made my way towards where the archer was positioned. However, an issue showed itself once I actually got somewhat close.

The area where the archer was was completely open. So I wouldn't be able to sneak around behind crates anymore.

"David! Deal with the archer. I can't focus to use a spell!" Robin yelled, running around and dodging both the leader and the archer who had now started focusing on Robin.

I tried thinking of any way to deal with the archer without exposing myself when I came up with a plan. A crappy plan, sure, but a plan nevertheless.

I grabbed one of the crates on the ground and placed it on top of all the others. I tried angling it towards the archer, who hadn't noticed me messing around with the crates. Once I felt the angle was right, I prepared a wind spell, and with as much force as possible, launched it straight at the crate. The crate went flying straight into the archer, pushing the archer down on the ground. Before he could get up, I quickly used a thunder spell, killing the archer before he could do anything else. Feeling accomplished, I turned around to help someone else, when I realized that the only person still in combat was Robin and the knight… Who together finished the leader quickly.

Robin looked over to me and gave me the thumbs up as everyone reunited in the center of the bridge. And for the second time that day, I actually felt proud of myself.

Hello, my beautiful readers. This is the author of this fanfic and was just curious regarding one thing.

Would you guys like to see longer, but less frequent chapters, or continue at this current pace? I'm willing to do chapters that are significantly longer, but it would take longer to get them out.

Regardless thanks for reading my fanfic, means a lot. :D
