The Love of a Longbottom
Disclaimer: I don't own Harry Potter.
Chapter 1: How odd he acts
Neville Longbottom had been acting very odd lately. This was odd, because Neville Longbottom always minded what he did, trying very hard to not stick out of a crowd. Within just one week, he had become very uncoordinated, daydreamed a lot, and if possible, worse at potions. Not many people noticed, because not many people cared about Neville, but his best friends did. Harry decided to investigate.
"Here's my chance." Thought Harry Potter, to himself. "He's alone." Harry had been trying to catch Neville alone all week. He normally wouldn't bother to go through that sort of trouble, but he knew Neville was sensitive and if it was a huge problem, he didn't want to run the risk of someone overhearing and letting out Neville's secret to the entire school. "Hey mate, what's up?" Harry said casually, plopping himself on the couch next to Neville. The blonde boy quickly snatched up the parchment he was doodling on, crumpled it and held it in his hand. "Uhmm... Nothing, nothing at all Harry. How are you?" he said rather quickly. "What's that?" Harry asked. "Oh it's nothing, nothing at all." Responded Neville. "Oh, alright then. Neville, is there anything you need to talk about? You've been acting rather odd lately. You're tripping and stumbling, and daydreaming constantly. Even your potions are doing worse, and that's saying something. "Oh bugger...he knows." Neville thought to himself. "He knows and he's going to tell the entire school." Harry raised his eyebrow at Neville. "Oh... uh, no nothings going on. If you'll excuse me, I'll be going to bed now." Said Neville, who proceeded to stand up and head towards the staircase. Harry noticed that Neville left his crinkled parchment on the couch, but it was too late to call for him. Once he hit the staircase he had broken into a run.
"Ah well." said Harry to himself as he picked up the paper. He carefully unfolded it, smoothed it and read the words. Harry started laughing loudly. There on the parchment stood the words "Neville Longbottom Loves Ginny Weasley forever." and "Ginevra Molly Longbottom." There was even a "Neville Weasley" on there. "Neville is in love." Harry said outloud. He then cursed outloud at his bad timing, because at that very moment, a very flushed looking Hermione and Ron stepped in through the portrait hole. "What'd ya say Harry?" Ron asked. "It was nothing." Stated Harry trying to look unimportant. "Where have you been anyway?" "I've been tutoring her." Said Ron simply. Not two seconds later a look of horror spread across his face as Hermione slapped him across the arm. "He meant I've been tutoring him. Didn't you, Ron." Said Hermione loudly. Harry didn't quite believe their story but had to pick his battles. Occurrences like this were happening more often and Harry suspected his two best friends were hiding something from him. Like a relationship. "Now what did you say earlier, Harry?" Hermione questioned. Now Harry had a weight on his shoulders. Tell Ron and Hermione about Neville, or keep the secret. "Well... ya see..."
A/n: Yes this is a very short chapter, however it will be a moderately short story, I believe, because this is my first attempt at a chaptered story, and I dont want to start something I won't finish. So I hope you all like it. I plan on having another chapter on within three or four days. Just so you all know, the next chapters will all be longer, this is just pretty much and introduction. There aren't enough Neville romance fics out there. Anyone agree with me here? Well, Review! Thanks for reading! New chapter in a few days, so keep your eyes peeled!
