Chapter 2:

Kenji sighed, "How long have we been following this little deer path?"

Darius shrugged, "15 to 20 minutes, I guess. Have really seen many signs of life except for these really really old bike tire tracks that appear and disappear."

Kenji listened for a second, "The strange animal calls and the rustling bushes too."

Darius nodded, "Costa Rica does have jungles in it."

Kenji nodded, "True... Uh, Darius?"

Darius looked at where Kenji was looking and saw a curious little Compy looking at them, "Why is there a Compy in Costa Rica?"

Kenji winced, "Please don't tell me it somehow hitched a ride on the boat and was following us."

Darius chuckled, "They really are dino-rats aren't they. It should be fine to let her live cause Compys aren't capable of parthenogenesis."

Kenji raised an eyebrow at him, "Parthe-what-now?"

Darius grinned, "Parthenogenesis. It is what allowed the Scorpious Rex to make another Scorpious Rex despite being the only one of its kind."

Kenji nodded, "Oh. Hey! I think I see the end of this stupid jungle."

Darius grinned, "Some of the noises are getting louder too... Something seems off about them though. They sound similar to cattle, but not quite at the same time."

Kenji shrugged, "Who cares, cows mean people, steak, milk, and cheese."

Darius nodded, "Must just be the forest distorting the sounds. Come on, lets go."

They ran towards the sounds but stopped and hid behind the trees the moment they noticed the things that were on the other side in a massive field leading down into a river.

Kenji gulped, "Umm... Did we somehow end up back on Nublar?"

Darius peaked back around the tree, "Uh-uh... four fifths of those species weren't on any Ingen list, not to mention the fact that half of them aren't even Dinosaurs."

There were some cows in the field, but they were few and far between compared to the large number of Ceratopsians, Ankylosaurs, Sauropods, Stegosaurs, and Hadrosaurs. There were also an equally large number of Mammalian species, almost all of which were similar in size to their dinosaur neighbors and all of them were thought to be extinct. There was a scattering of birds, Pterosaurs, and other creatures, but for the most part they were ignored in favor of their more massive neighbors.

Darius grimaced, "We need to get back to the others and warn them, cause where there is prey..."

Kenji's eyes widened, "There is bound to be predators."

Darius nodded, "Let's get out of here as qui..."

"REAAAAAAAAAAAAW!"

Kenji shakily turned to Darius as the prey animals all started to run for it to their right, "Please tell me that was a T-Rex."

Darius shook his head, "Sounds bigger."

They looked off to the left and saw a massive crocodile-like head closed around an unfortunate Gallimimus that had wandered too close to its spot in the river. The creature lifted itself up out of the water and Darius and Kenji both stood there paralyzed looking at the massive red and brown super-predator of Isla Sorna.

Darius' eyes widened, "The mutant Spinosaurus! How is it still alive?"

Kenji yanked on his arm, "You can theorize later, Dino-nerd, once we have gotten the others and gotten to some semblance of safety."

Darius nodded, "Let's go quietly so it won't spot us."

Kenji nodded to him and they both crept away through the underbrush. They made their way back onto the path and started down it towards the way they came. They tiptoed their way down the path very much alert now and watching out for the predators that they now knew were very likely to be around them.

Kenji grimaced and whispered, "Dude, what will we do?"

Darius sighed, "This is a land, probably a very large Island, filled with a ton of creatures that we have no experience with. Many of which will probably try to eat us. On top of that, our way off of this Island is beneath the water. People probably don't know we are here. The best we can do is find some place safe to stay and hope someone comes close enough so we can escape this Island that no one should be legally going to."

Kenji raised an eyebrow, "What do you mean?"

Darius sighed, "That was the mutant Spinosaurus of Isla Sorna back there. That means we are either on Sorna, someone moved that thing to a new Island, or someone got their hands on its DNA and made another one."

Kenji blinked, "But getting close to here it looked to me like a sort of tropical part of the continent broken up by rivers of various sizes."

Darius sighed, "Sorna is 10 times larger than Nublar and it is part of a large island chain, the smallest of which Is the same size as Nublar."

Kenji winced, "Meaning that..."

Darius gestured to the island around them, "There is a lot more room for a lot more species then the ones we know how to deal with."

Kenji smiled, "More places to hide though, right?"

Darius nodded, "Hopefully. Our best bet would probably be to find whatever facility it was that they used to make those Dinos and barricade ourselves in it. I hope Ben memorized the layout of Sorna because I haven't."

Kenji paused, "Darius, why aren't we hearing any birds?"

Darius' eyes widened, "Kenji... Run!"

Kenji didn't question it and they both started running. It was just in time too because the space he had been standing in was suddenly filled with a massive T-rex head that appeared with zero warning. They kept running even though they winced at the sound of the jaws snapping shut. The strange thing was the Rex didn't roar after them, instead it just drew back into the jungle. Darius saw something dark move out of the corner of his eye and leapt to the side as fast as he could as another head snapped shut in front of him.

Kenji barely missed the follow up swipe and ducked and rolled under the first head snapping at him suddenly from the other side. Darius helped him up, barely avoiding the two Rexes. The great beasts seemed to glare at each other before they retreated back into the undergrowth when they heard a very loud sound that seemed to be a mix between a shriek and a roar. It was a shriller sound than the beast brought to Darius' mind, but it still uncomfortably brought to mind the sounds the Indominus made. The two Rexes grumbled as they backed off and disappeared back into the foliage.

Kenji breathed a sigh of relief, "Whew... Darius, that was ridiculous."

Darius spun around, "Shhhhhhhh! Kenji, there is something in this Jungle that scares even a couple mutant T-Rexes and it just marked us as prey, we need to get back to others fast and warn them!"

Kenji was quick to follow his smaller companion when he took off down the path, "What do you mean, mutant?"

Darius jerked his thumb over his shoulder, "Those things had weird fur-like stuff on them, not to mention the speeds that it took for their heads to come out of nowhere. There is no Rex on any Ingen list that has those characteristics, which means our chances of surviving on this Island aren't currently looking very good."

Kenji blinked, "And you say that there is something that scared those things? ...I am so gone!"

Darius took off after Kenji as the latter broke into a full sprint, "Kenji, wait!"

Ben smirked as he held up the old bucket, "Come here little Compy."

Yasmina rolled her eyes, "This is your tenth attempt, Ben."

Sammy cheered, "You can do it, Ben!"

Brooklynn sighed, "I wish I still had my phone so I could be recording this."

Ben smiled confidently, "Of course I can. This is probably my last chance because he has the jungle behind him now."

The Compy chirped and then it was off before Ben had the chance to bring the bucket down. Ben started after it with a yell, "Yahhh! Get! Back! Here! Ahhhh, Darius!"

THUD!

"Oww, Ben, why did you have a bucket!"

"We were trying to catch the Compy that just got away!"

"Why were you trying to...? You know what, never mind! It doesn't matter anyways!"

Brooklynn gave their two out of breath companions a look, "Darius, Kenji, what's wrong?"

Kenji glared up at the rest of them, "What's wrong is we somehow managed to land on Isla Sorna instead of the mainland!"

Brooklynn raised her eyebrow at him, "Why the glare?"

Yasmina raised her eyebrow, "How exactly would we manage to do that? Isla Sorna is in the exact opposite direction of the mainland after leaving Nublar."

Sammy nodded, "And how would you know that anyways. The only indicators died off during the building of Jurassic World."

Brooklynn's eyes widened, "Unless... that was only the official story to keep the animals protected."

Darius nodded, "And to hide the fact that they continued with their experiments here. I saw easily a hundred species that weren't on Ingen's or Masrani's lists of de-extinct dinosaurs alone, not to mention the other species."

Ben waved the bucket around, "And you know for a fact this is Isla Sorna and not some other island, because?"

Darius sighed, "Because we saw the mutant Spinosaurus of Isla Sorna that Doctor Grant talked about in his notes on this Island. The thing was built more like a T-Rex than a crocodile and the sail on it's back was a smooth curve. It was also red, and as far as I am aware the only Spinosaurus that matches that description is the one on Isla Sorna."

Sammy scratched her head, "Did Ingen ever make another Spinosaurus?"

Darius shook his head, "No, but Ingen's rival Biosyn made a bunch of baby Spinosaurus."

Brooklynn raised her eyebrow, "I know it isn't important compared to the fact we still managed to land on yet another island infested with dinosaurs, but what happened to them?"

Darius scratched the back of his head, "Biosyn were also firm believers in the bigger, scarier, and more teeth thing... They made them hyper-aggressive and only the biggest one survived."

Kenji raised his eyebrow, "What is it with these people?"

Yasmina shrugged, "Go big or go home. It is the attitude of athletes, scientists, businessmen, and whoever else wants to be as successful as possible."

Ben nodded, "Makes sense."

Darius just shook his head, "... Ladies and gentlemen, my disturbed, yet beautiful, yet disturbed friend... Anyways, we need to find someplace safe to regroup and figure out a way off this island."

Kenji nodded, "And hope that whatever scared off those mutant T-rexes won't decide we look like lunch along the way."

Yasmina raised her eyebrow, "Mutant T-rexes? ...And why is Ben disturbed?"

Ben grinned and barely managed to twirl the harpoon he was still holding, "What can I say? I like making things go boom with gasoline."

Yasmina nodded, "So that was what you used."

Darius sighed, "Yeah, that was what we used, but as for the mutant T-rexes. Well... they didn't act like normal. They were ridiculously fast and acted like opportunistic ambush predators."

Brooklynn scratched the back of her head, "Aren't most predators that way?"

Darius paused for a second, "... To a deg..."

AHREEEEAHHH!

They all turned to look at the woods, and then they took off running down the beach to the right of the dock, in the opposite direction the high-pitch roar came from.

Sammy yelled, "What about our supplies?"

Darius yelled back, "Do you want to discuss it with whatever roared like that?"

Yasmina powered to the front of the group, "We'll come back for them later."

Kenji dared a look behind them, "Yahhhh!"

They all watched as he suddenly moved to the front of the group, and they all gave a quick glimpse behind them as well, just to see what was there. That one look was enough to get them all running as fast as they possibly could. Behind them, running quickly were a trio of 30 foot long therapods. The central dinosaur had a dark brown, black, and dark blue mottled scaly hide and it was slightly bigger than the two beside it. The two on the sides however were very brightly colored on top, which gradually faded to a dark brown on bottom, with irregular black stripes and spots everywhere. The one on the dark one's left was a bright, almost neon, yellow, and the other one was a bright fiery red. All three had their mouths open, showing their long pink tongues and large irregularly regular fangs.

They all screamed, "Ahhhh!"

They were running for a couple seconds when Darius spotted something off to the left, "Guys! Head for that cave! It's too small for them!"

They broke to the left, kicking up dust and sliding in the sand slightly as they turned to head into the cave, and the therapods screeched as they slid slightly on their own turn. Darius risked another look behind him to see that the therapods were actually no closer than they were before, which made no sense to the dinosaur nerd. He also noticed with widened eyes that the therapods were in the Dromaeosaur family, based on that big claw on their feet.

Darius turned around just as Yasmina made it into the cave and ran in. They all quickly squeezed in after her and went around the bend in the cave wall. Yasmina's foot caught a rock in the ground, tripping her, and like dominos they all fell down, partially on top of each other in the wider part of the cave that was around the bend.

"Oww!"

"Owwowwow!"

"Watch where you are putting your elbow, Ben!"

"Sorry, Brooklynn!"

"Oww! Would you all get off of me?"

REEAHHHHH!

"Ahhhhh!"

With that last roar they all scrambled on hands and knees farther into the cave as best their initially tangled limbs would let them. Darius looked back and saw a dark brown head stuffed into the cave, barely reaching around the bend. The beast's clawed hands were reaching around and scratching at the walls, and Darius noted with some trepidation that they were just like the Indominus' and Scorpius' claws, four fingered with one significantly shorter than the others, like a dinosaur version of an opposable thumb.

They all stood up as fast as they could and ran around another bend in the cave, that was looking more and more like a tunnel, so they would be outof sight of the dinosaurs and Sammy asked, "What are we going to do now?"

Darius sighed, "Well... we could go back out there."

REEEEEEEEAAAARRRRRHHHG!

Kenji rolled his eyes, "Survey says, no."

Ben pointed down into the dark tunnel cave, "Or we could explore this and hope they leave by the time we are done."

Brooklynn shrugged, "Sounds like a good idea... if only Rexy hadn't crunched that camera, then..."

Everyone sighed, "... You could have done an Unboxing of the Mysteries of Isla Sorna video."

Brooklynn scratched the back of her head, "We have been spending way to much time together."

Darius shrugged, "Since we don't have a flashlight, everyone put your hand on the wall and one on the person in front of you and walk slowly, that way we won't get lost."

Sammy grinned, "Hey this is just like those couple episodes of Esther Stone where they went Spelunking and got los..."

Everyone was glaring at her sheepish look, and Yasmina sighed, "Sammy... Please don't say things that get our nerves any more frayed than they already are at being on yet another dinosaur island."

Sammy grimaced, "Sorry guys. Let's just get going."

Ben scratched his head, "What should I do with my harpoon?"

Darius shrugged and Yasmina pointed out, "You have a belt."

Ben smiled sheepishly and stuck it in the back of his belt, "Right, I knew that."

Darius smiled, "Come on, let's go."

Kenji grinned, "Lead the way, Dino-nerd."

Everyone put their hands on the walls and each others shoulders and headed into the darkness of the cave. If they had still been near the beginning of the cave they would have noticed something very creepy... The dark blue dromaeosaurid was giving a spine-shivering grin to the depths of the cave and it chirped at the yellow and red ones, causing them to cease the noises they were making. It nodded at them with glowing amber eyes and motioned to the jungle. With that signal the three dinosaurs gave one last roar and disappeared into the jungle, leaving the beach like they had never been there in the first place.
