Joey Wheeler rested his head against the train window and sighed. His father and mother had newly worked out with their lawyers that since he was being abused by his dad, he was going to move in with Serenity and his mother. Joey was glad that he could be with his sister again and that distance wouldn't separate them, but there was one problem facing him: he had to leave Domino and all of his friends. He wasn't excited to pack up all of his things into boxes either. He could swear that something was broken in one of the boxes beacuse the movers weren't careful enough. Well, mover, because his father wouldn't pay to have them move Joey's stuff, and the mover was Tristan. Knowing Tristan, he was never careful.
Joey's thoughts were disrupted by a girl walking over to him before the train left the station. She was pretty, long brown hair, green eyes and a cute red ribbon in her hair.
"Do you mind if I sit here? Every other seat is taken and some guy took mine," she said to him.
Startled, Joey sat up, looking straight at the girl. Realising she asked him if she could sit, he nodded his head. The girl sat down.
"I'm sorry about this, I can see that you wanted your privacy, but I needed somewhere to sit and you looked nice," she said. The girl blushed and added, "My name is Kayla Hunter, and I, uh, I'm glad to meet you."
"Name's Joey Wheeler," Joey replied, now blushing as hard as Kayla, "It's nice to meet you too."
After a few hours of travelling silence, Joey decided to break the ice. He opened his mouth to speak, but closed it again wondering what to say. Scratching his head, he came up with an opening line, "So what takes you all the way out here?"
"Oh, uh, I'm going to visit my brother and dad. David has some big news for me and this is for summer vacation, like I do every year," Kayla said, "How about you Joey?"
"I'm going to go and live with my sister and mom. We had a pretty big dispute after my parents divorced, but, uh, we decided that I was going to come here to live. Do you live in Domino?"
"Yes, but I'm just going to school there. I live with my best friend in Residence, her name is Luca," she replied, "How about you? I mean, uh, did you?"
"I did. Wait," said Joey, "You go to a formal school in Domino? The only one there is Katernama."
"That would be my school," Kayla said proudly.
"Wow," Joey said, shocked, "I never met anyone from Katernama before. I just go to regular Domino High. Well, I did. I won't anymore."
Joey and Kayla continued to talk over the three hour train ride, talking about their lives until they realised that they both liked duel monsters and began to talk about that instead.
When the train entered the station, the two knew that they had to leave each other. Joey was kind of sad that even though he had made a friend so fast, he had to walk away from her, never seeing her again.
"Well, I guess it's time to leave," said Kayla, looking at the ground, "It was nice to talk to you Joey, you are a really sweet guy."
"Maybe you and I might meet again before you go back to Domino after the summer," Joey replied.
"That would be nice," Kayla said, smiling.
"Well, good-bye," Joey said blushing again.
"Bye," Kayla replied.
They both tried walking in the opposite directions, but were trying to go on the same side of each other. After trying to get past one another, Kayla stopped moving around and let Joey pass her. Joey and Kayla began walking away from each other thinking, will I ever see them again?
