Spider-Man: LOUD Season 1 Chapter 7

"The goliath bird defeating spider"

Jordan waved goodbye to Lincoln and watched as he waved back. She entered her house to be greeted by her mom.

"Hey sweetie, how was your day?" Her mother asked.

"It was good." Jordan answered in a tired tone.

"You want some dinner?" Her mom asked.

Jordan put her hand to her stomach, "No thanks, I had a pretty big lunch today, I'll just go to bed tonight."

"Well, have a goodnight honey, I'll see you in the morning." Her mom pulled out her phone and continued to look through social media.

"Night mom." Jordan replied walking down the hallway next to the kitchen.

She enters her bedroom and closes the door behind her, she takes off her top, revealing a dark blue bra underneath when she feels a buzz come from her back pocket. She pulls out her phone to see a text message from her friend Christina.

"So, how was it?"

Jordan set her phone down on her bed as she changed into pajamas consisting of blue sweatpants and a baggy white shirt adorned. She picks her phone back up as she lays down on her bed.

"It was good." - Jordan

"That's it? It was just good?" - Christina

"What do you want me to say?" - Jordan

"Tell me how it went! I want to know more than 'it was good.' Give me deets girl!" - Christina

"Well, he was very kind, he's a lot funnier than I remember him being. It's like he's a completely different person at home." - Jordan

"Aren't we all though?" - Christina

"Yeah, but he's like, super different. He's super quiet and reserved at school, but at home he's super funny and talkative." - Jordan

"Hmm, odd. What did you guys end up doing?" - Christina

"We just hung out at his house. We played some video games together, talked about movies, music, etc." - Jordan

"Well that's nice. I'll have to talk to him later too, make sure he doesn't say bad things about you behind your back." - Christina

"He wouldn't do that! Besides you two haven't talked since you switched out of his class in 5th grade." - Jordan

"I know, but you've piqued my interest. I wanna make sure that my friend isn't being bad mouthed. That and I wanna talk to him for a little bit, it's been a long time since we talked and I think holding a grudge like that for this long isn't good." - Christina

"You do whatever you want." - Jordan

Jordan plugged in her phone on her bedside table and started hugging a large stuffed bear, her eyes slowly drifting off to sleep.

It was only 7:30, the sun wasn't even completely down yet. It was the golden hour, and Lincoln was already being harassed by people he didn't want to deal with right now.

Spider-Man dived down toward the Vulture, the birdman went to slice down his webbed opponent using his razor sharp metal wing pieces, but Spider-Man was too fast and dodged his attacks.

"I've gotta take him down this time, thankfully I packed my Vulture Jammer, I just have to find a way to attach it to him." The superhero thought.

He shot a web back in his avian adversaries direction and pulled himself toward him preparing to strike, his enemy predicted this however and flew up to avoid his attack.

"You can't get me that easily!" He shouted at the young crimson and cobalt hero.

Spider-Man flew toward another building landing on it using his reversed electron attraction. He watched Vulture as he quickly started descending, he started running up the wall and watched as his opponent started rushing toward him, he leapt from his running point on the building and landed on top of the Vulture jumping off of him, stunning him for a little bit.

"Come on Buzzard, that's all you got?" He quipped at the older man.

Vulture groaned in annoyance as he started rushing down Spider-Man again. He jumped into the air and flipped to the side to avoid getting snagged by his winged enemy, as he flipped over he slapped his yellow and black Vulture Jammer device on the back of his wing pack. He watched as the Vulture flew around 100 feet of him and stopped to turn around.

"Damnit, I need him in at least 50 feet clearance to get it to activate. Damn me and my limited technology!" He cursed to himself.

He stood up from his perched position on top of a billboard and put his hands to his mouth in a shouting gesture, "Come on Blue Jay, you've got a fresh spider butt right here begging to get eaten and all you can do is just rush me down? I thought you were a bird, not a one trick pony!"

"You son of a bitch!" Was all Vulture shouted as he once again flew directly at Spider-Man.

All he did was stand there counting down, "70" then "60" and finally "50, I've got you." He whispered to himself.

He pulled out the receiver for his device and pushed the button to activate it causing a short electrical disturbance in Vulture's pack. The avain man looked back briefly to see what caused this but was unable to determine the cause, all he knew was that he was falling, and he was gonna take Spider-Man down with him.

Once he saw that Vulture wasn't backing down he jumped backward to avoid him but to no avail, he was caught by the man's arms as they crashed through the window of a building, they rustled around a bit as the rolled through the building, eventually crashing through the other side and falling toward the sloped rooftop of another building.

They landed with a hard thud as they rolled away from each other. "50 feet, just keep that distance, and you're golden…" Was all the arachnid inspired teen thought.

He stood up on his two legs as his adversary did the same. "What did you do?!" He shouted.

"Simple engineering, I took a part of your suit and used it against you, as long as I hold this remote you're no better than a penguin!" Spider-Man mocked.

Vulture looked at his opponent with a head tilt before rushing toward him.

Spider-Man's eyes widened, "I shouldn't have said that." He says in a very worried tone.

He flips backward to avoid any of his opponents attacks before webbing himself back down and striking downward on his helmet causing the Vulture to come crashing down to the hard metal of the sloped roof. He looked to his right to see a bunch of cinder blocks that were currently being used for repairs to the old building. He kicked a few of them over and webbed them to his enemy.

"There, now you can't go anywhere! So now I can keep a good eye on you until the cops arrive." He boasts his victory.

However the cinder blocks start sliding down the building bringing him with them. He gasps and reaches out for help, trying his best to get a grip on the roof but to no avail.

"Help, HELP!" He shouts before he falls off the building, just before Spider-Man extends his arm and grabs hold of him.

"Uh..not my best idea I'll admit…heh.." He lets out a small chuckle after that sentence.

"You…you saved me, why? I tried to kill you." Vulture now asks.

Spider-Man gains a shocked expression, "Well, I can't just let people die, it's my duty to keep people safe, if I end up killing someone just because they tried killing me I'd be no-" Just then Vulture grabs Spider-Man's hand and crushes it, squeezing hard enough to crush the receiver in his hand.

He looks over to his hand and opens it to see the receiver crushed in his hand, he then slowly turns his head to see Vulture staring at him, his wings starting up again.

"Uh…it was just a prank?" He jokes before Vulture shoots up into the air, Spider-Man in hand.

He flies up quickly, never stopping, he holds Spider-Man by the neck and keeps flying up choking him.

"You're done, I hope you get peace knowing me and my family will be well off with you dead!" He shouts into the hero's face.

"Think Lincoln, think…" He gets higher and higher up, it gets harder and harder to breathe, "Think damnit think!" He closes his eyes and grabs his utility belt, ripping a web cartridge from it and slams it into the propellers of the Vultures wings, causing them to get stuck and stop spinning.

They stop ascending and start descending, he lets go of Spider-Man as they both plummet hundreds of feet, Vulture screaming as they fall. Spider-Man uses his quick thinking however and slams his feet against the wall of a building and shoots a web toward Vulture snagging him and stopping his fall. He breathes heavily as he holds up his enemy, he brings him to the top of the building and destroys the wings on his suit, making sure he can't fly anymore, webs him to the building to make sure he can't go anywhere.

Spider-Man stood on a rooftop watching over what he'd done that night as he heard sirens in the distance, people finally seemed to have called the police over the disturbance. He looked over in the direction of his house and leapt from the building, shooting a web and swinging home for the night, finally free of his avian adversary.

Morning had reached Royal Woods, and as any school morning everyone was awake early. And as normal the younger Loud kids all sat around to watch tv before they had to leave for school.

"Alright time for cartoons!" The twins say to themselves.

They both reach for the remote and grab each other's hands in the process, they turn to look at each other.

"Lana."

"Lola."

The opposites started yanking on the remote to fight for it before the tv turns on to the news.

"Last night a disturbance was heard all over Royal Woods." The female newscaster started.

"The news? Bleh." Lola reacted.

"As it turns out this disturbance was due in part to our very own superhero Spider-Man." She continued.

Lana gasped and rushed over to sit closer to the television set, now enthralled with the program now that it mentioned her favorite person.

"We'll turn it over to Katherine Mulligan on the scene."

"Katherine Mulligan here on the scene. This morning was met with both applause and opposition as last night when a huge racket was heard between the times of 7:30 and 8:20 pm, people called the police only for them to discover the man Adrian Toomes wearing a giant mechanical wing pack and webbed up."

"Do they mean like some kind of super villain?" Their older sister Lynn had made herself present in the living room, jumping down from a pull up bar present in the walkway between the living room and kitchen.

"Shh!" Lana hushed her sister.

Lynn put her hands up in a defensive gesture before hopping back up to do more pullups.

"That's not all, our signature masked figure left a note of all things behind to identify himself. It reads, 'Went bird watching tonight and saw myself a pretty one, couldn't help but show it to my favorite people - Courtesy your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man" The woman in the yellow jacket read.

The program switched back to the woman at the host desk, "Could this be a super villain in Royal Woods? So soon after the mysterious sandstorm that tormented a bank? Could Royal Woods be in danger? Will people still insist that Spider-Man is a menace plaguing our fine city, or will people change their minds about him and claim that he's a true hero? Only time will tell."

The TV abruptly turned off leaving Lana clawing at the glass front of the old CRT. "A hero! He's a hero!" She shouted at the now black screen.

"C'mon guys it's time for school, let's go!" Lynn shouted across the house as she clapped her hands to get her siblings to hustle.

Lincoln was sitting at the bottom of the stairs smiling at the turned off television set, proud of what he'd done.

The kids filed into the van, ready for their ride to school. The white haired boy sat next to his goth sister Lucy, who'd pulled his attention.

"Hey Lincoln." She said in a very monotone tone.

He turned his head to look at her, "What's up?"

"The next meeting is two weeks from now at 5 PM, so don't be late." She said with a slight smile.

"Of course! I'll be there!" He said with a nervous laugh at the end.

"This time though I'll be arriving with you to make sure you don't bail on me again. How do handcuffs sound?" Lucy gained a menacing grin as she finished her sentence.

Lincoln laughed nervously and put his hands up in a defensive gesture, "N-no need! I can just walk with you!"

Lucy smiled in victory as Lincoln looked away in horror.

Upon arriving at school Lincoln took notice of something, that Jordan wasn't there. He went through his normal 8 class day before walking up to Rachel, Jordan's best friend to ask what was wrong. Rachel was a girl around Lincoln's height, she had long raven colored hair, she had a beauty mark on the right side of her chin, she wore a seafoam green short sleeve top with gray jeans alongside white tennis shoes.

"Hey Rachel." He approached with a small wave.

She looked at him with a bewildered look, almost confused as to why he was approaching her, "Um, hi? What do you want?"

Lincoln stopped about two feet away from her and nervously scratched the back of his neck, "I was just wondering..I noticed Jordan wasn't here today and I thought you might know why…do you?"

After that sentence her demeanor completely changed from defensive to sympathetic, "Oh..you don't know…"

Lincoln raised one of his eyebrows in a quizzical expression, "Don't know what?" He said slowly.

"Jordan's father was arrested last night..he was found in possession of very dangerous and illegal technology. He was the guy flying around in that bird suit that Spider-Man took down last night." She said with mild disgust when referencing his alter-ego's name.

Lincoln went wide-eyed, cold sweat started to drip down his face, "Oh shit." He said out loud.

Rachel stared at him "Um..you good?"

Lincoln realizing what he just said turned it back around, "OH uh yeah, just…that's awful. Give Jordan my apologies for that." He clasped his hands together before turning to run the other way, leaving the ravenette all by herself in the sea of other students.

"Okay, you're weird." Was all she said before turning the opposite way.

Lincoln was running out of the school in a panic. After exiting he ran down an alleyway and swung up to the top of a very tall building and sat there on his knees, he overlooked the city hastily as if he was looking for something.

"No no no no no…that can't be right. There's no way Jordan's dad was the Vulture! That can't be! There's no way!" Lincoln was breathing heavily.

He stood up and closed his eyes, taking a deep breath. He opened his eyes and kept overlooking the city. Royal Woods, it was hard for him to think that just 4 short years ago this was just a small town outside of Great Lakes, after Oscorp moved into Royal Woods however it all changed, that once small town turned into a large bustling city connected to Great Lakes.

"Did I…did I do the right thing?" He looked down at his hands, his dark gray sleeves slightly falling down revealing the mechanisms he strapped to his wrists to form the webs he used to traverse and trap enemies.

"I mean, I saved a lot of people…selling illegal and dangerous technologies is super harmful..but I also hurt a lot of people too." He put his hands down and continued to look out at the city skyline, watching cars drive by and people walk on the sidewalk.

"I hurt Mrs. Toomes, I hurt Rachel, I hurt Jordan…someone that I saw as one of my friends…I hurt her…" He looked down with a somber expression.

Dr. Curt Conners sat down in his lab chair with a camera set up on a tripod sitting on his desk. He held a vile of bright green liquid. He leant forward and pressed the record button.

"I've run out of time. Human test subjects are limited and I can't find any, so I'm testing it on myself." He seemed out of breath as he talked.

"This is the experimental growth formula, if designed properly this will give humans the ability to heal like creatures in the animal kingdom, such as how lizards are able to regrow limbs." He held up the vile.

He pointed the vile toward himself, a sharp needle was on the end. "If this doesn't work…I don't know what will happen. Just know that it's all in the name of science."

He quickly stabbed himself with the vile and winced in pain before pulling it out, having the vile empty of the green liquid.

He started shaking, he doubled over in pain, "GAHH!" He shouted in pain grabbing his desk to stabilize himself, knocking the camera over in the process. The last thing the camera SD card had storage to record was his hand slamming onto the desk, having grown scaley and slightly green.

A couple of days had passed, it was now Saturday. Jordan hadn't shown up to school for the rest of that week, for good reason of course. Lincoln had shown up at the Toomes doorstep. He walked up to the door and raised his hand in a fist to knock.

He took a deep breath, "It's okay Lincoln, I know you told Rachel to give Jordan your apologies but…" He stared at the door, a nice red door with a singular golden knocker on the front of it.

He exhaled deeply before knocking on the door three times. He heard some shuffling inside the house before a woman opened the door. She had messy dirty blonde hair that reached to her mid back, visible bags under her eyes, she wore a light gray baggy long sleeve shirt, dark gray baggy sweatpants, she looked up at him, "Can I help you?" She asked.

Lincoln looked her in the eyes, "I can tell just how much this is bothering them, I mean…just look at her mother.."

"Um..I'm a friend of Jordan from school. I heard about what happened and I wanted to come check up on her." He nervously choked out.

The woman chuckled a little, looking down, "It's nice to know she has good friends at least.." A couple of seconds passed before she spoke again, "I'll go tell her she has company, come inside."

She walked away letting the white haired teen inside. He closed the door behind him and looked around their house. It wasn't a very big house but it was filled with some expensive stuff, not so expensive as to be gaudy, but expensive enough to make his wallet cry. He walked around a little, the bright gray carpet squishing beneath his white and red sneakers. A minute passed before the woman came back out and motioned with her head that it was good to go in, Lincoln nodded in response.

He slowly walked down the dark hall, the walls which were painted a slight off white seemed to cry, he took a huge nervous gulp before knocking on Jordan's door, "Come in." He heard a somber voice from inside call out.

He slowly entered the room and saw Jordan standing next to a window that sat above and to the right of her twin sized bed which was currently messy, black and dark gray sheets strewn about the bed with stuffed animals and plushies also carelessly thrown about the place. He shut the door behind him.

"Hey Jordan." He said softly.

She turned around and met his gaze, she too had slights bags under her eyes, not being able to sleep for the past few nights based on what had happened. She wore a long baggy short sleeved yellow shirt, with short black athletic shorts that had white stripes down the sides, they only reached to her high thigh.. She simply waved at him.

He slowly walked closer, "I heard what had happened to your dad."

"Who hasn't." She muttered just loud enough for Lincoln to hear, he looked at her concerned, "I mean, it's all over the news, I just wish they had taken some consideration for my family and kept it a little more private."

He looked down, he knew she was right. "They're calling him the first supervillain the world has seen." Her voice broke when saying that. She was sniffling, clearly not trying to cry in front of her friend.

"I just wish they had thought about how that makes me and my mom feel. It's not like being the daughter or wife to a 'supervillain' is looked upon with praise and admiration." Her eyes started to get red and puffy, tears started forming in her eyes. She wasn't even looking him in the eyes anymore.

She walked over and sat on her bed, "The last thing he said to me before he left for work was that when he got back he'd treat me and my mom to a nice dinner out."

Lincoln sat beside her and rubbed her back, encouraging her to keep going. "I know what he did was wrong but..that's what hurts the most.."

She leaned into Lincoln, resting her head on his shoulder. She finally started to let out tears, "I just don't know how I'm supposed to go on with life knowing what he's done. I looked up to him like he was my hero, and now knowing that he did those awful things…"

"It's gonna be hard but…you're strong. I know you can do this." It wasn't much, but it was the best Lincoln could do in terms of emotional support. This had never happened to someone he cared about.

Her tears trailed down her cheeks and fell down into her lap. She clung to Lincoln, still crying. "I don't care what I said earlier…I hate him."

Lincoln looked down, his head hung low, "I hate Spider-Man..I hate him, I hate him, I hate him." Those words kept repeating not only in real life, but also in Lincoln's head.

Lincoln sat on a rooftop, his Spider-Man costume adorning his body, but his mask was taken off. His head still hung low as he looked over the golden hour of the sky. It had been hours since he left Jordan's house, and those words still rung throughout his head. "I hate him" It was all he could think about.

"I know he tried to kill me but…" He paused to think about what he would say next, "He said that if I had died he and his family would be better off…"

He took a deep breath in, then a deep breath out, "Maybe…maybe I would be better off dead…" Him saying this made his chest sting, "At least then people would still be happy…"

He sat there for hours contemplating what he'd done.
