September 3rd, 2013 – Elk Rock State Park, Missouri

Autumn and Rosemary were released after three days in the hospital. The family was now home and adjusting to life with two children. Lee was over the moon with his daughters, never sorry that Autumn wasn't a boy. Rosemary had decided not to return to work this school year, and possibly not at all. She was loving being a stay at home mom with her daughters, and with Lee working for Jack now, she was able to do so.

Savannah had erupted into the barrel racing scene and continued to shock everyone with her performances. The family had discussed at the beginning if they wanted to keep her disability a secret while at the events, but being it would be too hard to keep it hidden if they needed to speak to her, they decided against it. They had been worried that she would be treated differently by everyone if they knew, but they quickly discovered that they had been wrong. She had been given the same treatment and opportunities as every other barrel racer at the events.

Jack and Lee continued to slowly climb up the rank of team ropers. Word had made it back to them that the top teams had commented about them being the team to watch. Jack and Lee grinned ear to ear when they'd received that news, their new dreams were becoming a reality.

With their season coming to a close soon, they put in extra practices at Jack's to attempt to fine tune their skill.

Throughout the summer, Jack would occasionally take one of the twins out with him and hold them on one of the ponies while he walked them around. By now, each of the toddlers would hold onto the saddle horn on their own while their daddy led them around. He hoped that by next summer, they would be able to ride by themselves and guide the ponies where they wanted them to go on their own.

Tom was loving his new horse. They quickly found out that he was a cow horse and had done an excellent job while working the cattle. Jack and Tom had even started talking about participating in a fun event they had seen at one of the rodeos and were making plans to begin practicing at Jack's arena.

Jack stepped out of the horse trailer at Elk Rock equestrian campground with Wyatt at his side. They were two days into their camping weekend and the entire family was there. Frank and Charlotte had already left for a morning ride while everyone was still waking up. Once they returned, they would stay with Autumn so everyone else could hit the trails.

Jack stretched his arms and back as he walked across the carpet that laid in front of their door. The air was cool in the morning, but would warm up to the perfect riding temperature in a few hours. Seeing the fire needed relit, Jack took care of it then headed out to take care of the horses.

Lee stepped out of his trailer, and seeing that the fire was already burning, headed out to check on the horses. He found Jack at the pens; all the horses already taken care of.

"Hey, Jacko. You didn't need to do all of them."

"I was already out here. It's no problem. I like to spend time with the horses first thing in the morning before everyone is up anyway. It's peaceful. And a great time to talk to God."

Lee nodded, "I can see that." He stood quiet for a moment, petting the neck of Delilah. "I wish my faith was as strong as yours."

Jack moved to the opposite side of the horse and rested his arms on the mare's back. "It was a long hard road to get to where I am today. You know that...you saw it."

"I know, but you got there. I'm still trying. I mean...I believe in God, I've accepted Him, I try to follow Him. But your faith...it's one to be reckoned with."

"Not everyone's faith looks the same, Brother. It doesn't mean it's any less meaningful to God."

"What do you mean?"

Jack thought for a moment, running his hand along the horse's back, thinking of an explanation that Lee could relate with. "A bull rider looks very different from a barrel racer, right?"

"Well, of course they do," Lee answered, not sure where Jack was going with this.

"Is one any less an athlete than the other?"

"No."

"Both put in the hard work. Both put in the training. Both have the tools of the trade that are needed to do their job."

Lee nodded.

"But they are very different. Their training is not the same, their gear is not the same, their sport is not the same. But both have an end goal to be the best at their event. They are both strong athletes that train very hard to get to where they want to be." Jack took a short break, allowing Lee to absorb and process what he'd said so far. "A person's faith is molded by their past. It's measured by the steps it took that individual to get to where they are. Some people have a short straight path that they took to find the Lord. While others veered off the path, climbed a mountain, then came down victorious on the other side. Their faith will look very different from one another because their faith walks differ so much. It doesn't mean that God thinks more of one than the other. He loves them equally."

Lee continued to nod, "I get what you're saying."

"You have a strong faith, Lee. It just looks different than mine. Just like mine looks different from Beth's."

Lee walked behind Delilah and laid his hand on Jack's back, "Thank you, Brother."

Jack and Lee hugged, two men that were as close as any brothers could be. "You're welcome, Brother."

They walked back to camp where everyone had slowly begun to wake. Wyatt and Tuff sniffed around, searching for a discarded morsel. After Charlotte and Frank returned, breakfast was cooked and served. Rosemary nursed Autumn and put her down to sleep, then got herself and Noel ready for the ride.

All the horses were saddled and tied along the railings of the horse pens. Three very excited toddlers were bouncing around, being told to be careful around the horses and to not walk behind them. Once everyone was ready, Jack, Lee and Tom began untying the horses and getting everyone on. Lee handed Noel up to Rosemary, who placed her in the saddle in front of her. Jack handed Peyton to Elizabeth, who was already on Wrangler. Then he mounted Harley and reached down for Colton who was in Tom's arms. It was a group effort now, getting everyone situated. Luke, now 8, and Austin, almost 6, were on their ponies, 11-year-old Savannah had Cash, and all the adults were ready to go.

Tom led the pack into the trees and many smiling children acted as if this was their first trip into the woods, when in fact it had been their fourth time out this weekend. The toddlers were bouncing in their seats, pointing to everything. A bird, a squirrel, a deer...Colton thought he'd even seen a snake – a thick vine that grows up the trees in these woods.

The adults would visit for most of their rides, growing silent only occasionally until a new conversation was started. A few times, one of them broke out in a song and the others joined in. Many comments would float through camp of people hearing singing in the trees and they were curious as to who it was. The first two evenings, friendly strangers had strolled into their camp, seeing if it was them and letting them know that they had really enjoyed their music.

Wyatt, Tuff and Bandit ran alongside everyone, darting into the bushes or trees now and then when they spotted or smelled something. Loving the freedom and all the new smells, the dogs circled the group, never going too far, but seeking out new things when they could.

A turkey flew out of a bush and in front of Tom and his new horse, Winchester – AKA Chester. But due to Jack's training and desensitizing, Chester had only jumped slightly, then continued on. Tom's heart was racing more than the horse's. The dogs were quickly after the bird and chased it away.

The group reached an area where the path widened, and Jack took the opportunity to ride alongside his wife and daughter. The twins saw each other and began giggling and reaching out, trying to touch hands. Jack moved Harley over until Jack and Elizabeth's legs were touching, leaned over, and kissed her as the horses carried them along.

"Hello, Beautiful."

"Hey, Cowboy."

"Having a good time?"

"Amazing." Her smile filled her face. She had loved trail riding since the first time Jack ever took her camping. She couldn't believe what she had been missing out on for her entire life up until she'd met him. This was the life she had always wanted. Full of love, life, family, and close friendships.

"I think the kids are having fun, too."

The couple looked down to Peyton and Colton. The pair were patting the horses' necks and their eyes were wide with wonder as they looked around, trying to spot the next critter in the woods.

Jack took Elizabeth's hand and the pair rode side by side until the path narrowed, forcing Jack to move back behind her once again.

…..

After a two-hour ride, the group returned to camp, unloaded the kids and wives at the sites, then the men led all the horses back to their pens and got them settled in with hay and water.

At camp, Rosemary took Autumn into their trailer and nursed her, while everyone else gathered around the firepit, where the little ones shared every detail of their ride to their grandparents.

Frank and Charlotte oohed and aahed at all the right moments and asked questions when necessary.

…..

The weekend had been filled with wonderful moments for everyone. Four days, six times out on the trails, every evening spend with family around the fire. Frank and Charlotte had enjoyed several rides out as well, even joining the group once when Rosemary stayed back with Autumn. Colton and Peyton had wanted to ride with their grandparents, so Jack and Elizabeth hung out in the back, stealing a few private kisses and holding hands when the trails allowed.

With camp broken down, the trailers loaded, and the trucks started, everyone said their goodbyes and the group pulled out. They followed each other in their caravan of four trucks and trailers, but each one veered off once they reached their own homes.

October 4th, 2013 – Pro Rodeo Oklahoma

Jack stood off to the side, watching as the lights went down on the arena and the announcer began. Introductions of all the contestants had begun. Jack felt the buzz that he'd known for so many years – beginning when he rode bulls, and now continuing with his team roping with Lee. The lights, the pyrotechnics, the music...had all been a part of Jack's life for so long, he couldn't remember a time when it wasn't.

He loved competing at the larger rodeos. The smaller ones didn't include all this fanfare and it would always help get him fired up and ready to compete.

He turned and looked at Lee who was by his side, his best friend carried the same look in his eyes as Jack. Both men had grown to love this life, this energy. It was a part of them.

Team ropers were called out, and Jack and Lee got in line to follow the men out to the dirt arena as the announcer read off their names.

After which came Jack's favorite part. With their hats in their hands, the National Anthem would be sung as a horse ran the perimeter of the arena, the red, white and blue flying through the air behind them. And the prayer. He'd always loved the prayers that the announcers came up with. Always praying for the safety of the men and women, the crew, and the animals, along with the safety of the troops. He'd thank the Lord for bringing everyone there safely and thank Him for their rights and freedom.

Then the cheers, claps, whistles would fill the air. Nothing else could be heard over the thousands of people that filled the seats.

This was Jack's favorite part. All of it.

The men left the arena, making way for the first event: bareback riding.

Jack stood off to the side behind the chutes, like he'd done so many times before. He searched the crowd for his wife. When he spotted her, their eyes locked. She'd already been watching him. Elizabeth lifted her hand in the air, giving him a small wave, then blew him a kiss. Jack blew one back in return then mouthed the words, 'I love you.'

He returned to his horse, where Lee was already waiting. The duo checked their saddles and gear once more...for the third time.

"Are you ready for this?" Lee asked. This would be the largest rodeo they had competed in since starting their new event.

"Ready as I can be," Jack answered, laying the stirrup back down after checking the cinch.

"We've got this," Lee said, resting his arms on the saddle. "Right?"

Jack stopped what he was doing and looked to Lee. "Of course, Brother. We've got this all the way."

This was day one of the three-day event. Jack and Elizabeth left the twins with Charlotte and Frank, and Lee and Rosemary's girls were with Lee's cousin.

It was time for the team roping event and Lee and Jack entered the arena. They waited off to the side with the first few teams...waiting for their turn.

It's amazing how all of this hard work would come down to a few seconds. Jack used to live his life eight seconds at a time. Now it was even shorter...hopefully.

Jack and Lee were up next and the men guided their horses into the pens on either side of the steer chute. Lee on the left, Jack on the right. They each prepared their lariats, widening the opening and tucking the loop under their arms. The men backed their horses into the padded corners of the pens and held them tight against it.

Seeing that Jack and Jake were ready, Lee held Cisco back and gave a quick nod.

The steer was released and a split second later, the horses were off. Immediately past the chute, Lee released his rope and watched as the loop landed around the animal's horns. He veered Cisco to the left, pulling the calf around for Jack. Jack had been rotating the rope above his head, waiting for his chance, and as soon as Lee turned, Jack let go.

The pair watched, their hearts pounding, as the rope encircled the steer's hind legs, capturing the animal. Jack and Lee turned their horses toward each other, stopping the timer at 4.2 seconds.

Jack and Lee both removed their hats and shoved them in the air, a cowboy celebration. Smiles filled their faces as they knew they had the fastest time so far. They rode their horses out of the arena and the fans could see them patting each other on the backs as they rode side by side.

They watched from the side as the remainder of the teams reached for the win. A few coming close to their time, others were far from it. Levi and Dylan were up next, the team that had mentored Jack and Lee and continued to come to Jack's place for fun, friendly competitions.

The guys watched intently as the team prepared. 4.3 seconds later it was over. Jack and Lee had finally beat the top ranked team.

Rosemary and Elizabeth cheered on their husbands, knowing the significance of that win. They were on their feet, their hands cupped around their mouths, calling out their names.

Dylan and Levi met Jack and Lee outside the arena, congratulating the two men for their win.

"I guess we shouldn't have shared all of our trade secrets with you two," Dylan teased.

"Congrats, you guys. That was awesome," Levi added. "We'll get you next time," he said, winking at them.

…..

The next day left Jack and Lee in sixth place; the steer hadn't lined up perfectly like the prior day. The third day, Jack and Lee had a time of 4.9, just behind Levi and Dylan. Their friends took the win for the weekend, leaving Jack and Lee in third.

The guys left with their heads high, more than pleased with their final placing. They felt that one year soon, they would be at the top, swapping places with Levi and Dylan, giving their friends a run for their money...literally.

October 24th, 2013 – Hope Meadows Ranch

Elizabeth was sitting on the couch reading a book when Jack walked in, his guitar in hand. She looked up and her eyes followed him as he crossed the floor, her lips curling up into a smile. Jack took a seat on the ottoman in front of her and laid his guitar on his lap.

"Can I play you something?" He asked with a small grin.

"Of course," she replied, laying her book beside her.

"I've been working on this for a while now, and I have finally finished it," Jack started as he pulled his guitar up under his arm, preparing his hands to play. His eyes lifted to hers and he continued. "I wrote this for you."

Elizabeth's smile grew and she leaned forward, resting her arms on her legs. "Okay."

Jack began playing his guitar, plucking out a few notes, then his voice filled the house as he sang this song that he wrote for her."

Wearing your black dress, red shoes
Make up, perfume and diamonds
You always impress, turn heads
The second you walk through the door
You're like a real life, work of fine art
Baby you're priceless
And I just wanna get home
Get that black dress down on the floor

'Cause when you got nothing on
There ain't nothing wrong
Loving you all night long's all I wanna do
I've been up the mountains high
I've seen the ocean blue
When you got nothing on
Ain't nothing got nothing on you

You're better than Dallas, Vegas
New York, London or Paris
Baby your New Hampshire in the Fall
The Grand Canyon on a full moon
Oh and they can keep those high rise
High priced mansions
I wouldn't trade places
Long as I'm here with you baby
I've got a room with a view

'Cause when you got nothing on
There ain't nothing wrong
Loving you all night long's all I wanna do
I've been up the mountains high
I've seen the ocean blue
When you got nothing on
Ain't nothing got nothing on you

Yeah, 'cause I've been up the mountains high
I've seen the ocean blue
When you got nothing on
Ain't nothing got nothing on you
(Based on Nothin' on You by Cody Johnson, with a few changes)

"That was beautiful, Jack," Elizabeth stated as Jack finished playing and laid his guitar down.

He moved to the floor, on his knees in front of his wife. Reaching his hands to her face and pulling her to his, his kiss was filled with love.

"I love you so much," he started, resting back on his legs. "These last four years have been the best years of my life." He kissed her again, a bit harder and longer. "Happy anniversary, Baby."

"Happy anniversary, Cowboy," she replied.

She gripped the front of Jack's shirt and pulled him up and onto her as she laid back onto the couch.

"What about the kids. Won't they be awake soon," Jack asked, pushing himself up with his arms on either side of her head.

"They are at your mom's."

Jack sat up, straddling her legs. "When did you take them over?"

Elizabeth grinned and answered, "While you were out checking on the horses."

"Mmmm...well, what should we do while they're gone?"

"I have a few ideas," she said as she grabbed the front of his shirt once more and pulled him down and kissed him.

Pulling up, he looked her in the eyes, his eyebrows raised, "A few ideas?"

Elizabeth laughed and pulled him down to her again, taking his lips with hers.

"Wait," he said, pushing himself back up again. "I'm going to lock the door."

Jack jumped up and cleared the back of the couch as he ran to the front door, locking the deadbolt. Discarding most of his clothes on his return, he jumped over the back of the couch again, landing over his laughing wife.

November 26th, 2013 – Hope Meadows Ranch

Jack opened the back door of the Tahoe and lifted the sleeping Colton from the car seat. Elizabeth did the same with Peyton.

After carrying them to their room and putting them to bed, they returned to the garage and removed the luggage from the SUV.

After unpacking and putting the suitcases away in the closet, the couple crashed into the bed.

"It was wonderful spending Thanksgiving at Julie's, but that was exhausting," Elizabeth said, curling up under the covers next to Jack.

"I agree. I could sleep for a week." Jack reached around his wife and pulled her against him. "It's good to be home, though," he added, nuzzling into her neck.

"Yes, it is," she said, yawning and pulling the covers up to her throat. "Remind me of this trip if I ever want to fly with toddlers again anytime soon."

The couple laughed and shared a few tender kisses before falling into a very deep sleep.

…..

December 25th, 2013 – Tom & Sam's Ranch

The three toddlers were busy playing with new toys as the adults gushed over their own gifts. Tom had given Sam a diamond heart necklace that morning before the family arrived. With it around her neck, she held it out so Elizabeth and Rosemary could admire it.

Frank had surprised Charlotte with two round trip tickets to Oregon for a trip in February. She had never seen the West Coast and had always wanted to go. The guys were discussing the different sites and landmarks that the couple would be going to.

Rosemary showed off the diamond and ruby bracelet that Lee had given her. One that matched a necklace he had given her for their second anniversary.

Elizabeth was now sharing photos of the gift from Jack.

"That is beautiful," Sam stated, zooming in on the photo on the screen.

"Lee, why can't you be this romantic?" Rosemary called out across the room.

Lee, with a dumbfounded expression, looked between the men, "What did I do now?"

"I think they are looking at the gift that Jack gave Elizabeth," Tom said as he entered the room and took a seat next to his brother.

Lee gave Jack a look. "What did you give her now?"

With a sly smirk on his face, Jack described the present.

"Bro, you need to stop doing stuff like that," Lee exclaimed. "You're making the rest of us look bad."

Charlotte was next to the women now, looking at the photos. "Beth, that's beautiful."

A large canvas now hung above their fireplace, replacing one of Elizabeth's paintings that she would find a new home for later. A photo of Jack and Elizabeth taken at sunset, filled the canvas, along with Jack's words from his vows.

Elizabeth stifled a small laugh.

"What's so funny?" Rosie asked.

"I had no idea what Jack was getting me for Christmas." She scrolled through her photos then held up her phone for them to see. "This is what I got Jack."

The photo showed a similar sized canvas, also with a photo of Jack and Elizabeth

"What does it say?" Charlotte asked.

"It's the poem that I read at our wedding."

"Great minds think alike," Sam stated with a giggle.

"I guess so," Elizabeth replied. "Jack and I just about died laughing when we opened each other's gift."

"Those are both so beautiful," Charlotte said again, looking at the photos some more.

"I'd say the guys hit it out of the park this year," Sam added.

"I must agree with you on that one," Elizabeth said.

January 14th, 2014 – Hope Meadows Ranch

Colton and Peyton were dressed up in their warmest snow suits, and Elizabeth was in her Carhartt coat and coveralls as she followed the waddling toddlers toward the arena. Each child would get sidetracked when he or she spotted a soft pile of snow and jump into it. Between the kids playing in the snow and falling over due to their restrictive clothes, what would normally take only a few minutes to walk took them almost ten.

When they finally reached the arena, Elizabeth pulled the door open and let the kids in, then closed and latched it behind her. The heat of the building hit her immediately and she unzipped her coat, peeling off the layer. She did the same for the kids before going into the arena area where she saw Tom standing on top of a barrel. Lee was standing just inside the arena watching them. Jack was at the opposite end of the arena on Jake and suddenly began running toward Tom, who had his left arm out and slightly hooked.

Elizabeth watched, her brow furrowed, confused at what the men were doing.

Then Jack turned Jake around the barrel as Tom hooked his arm around Jack's neck and attempted to swing his leg over the horse and onto Jake's back. All of this while the horse was running at full speed. Over shooting his jump, Tom went over the horse and with his arm around Jack's neck, he almost pulled his brother off the horse. Tom let go and dropped into the dirt, rolling to soften his landing.

"What on earth are you guys doing?" Elizabeth called out.

None of the men had seen her enter and her voice caused them all to jump. Tom stood and dusted the dirt from his backside as Jack rode over to the railing.

"Well...we are attempting the buddy barrel pick up so we can compete at the rodeos that offer it." Jack leaned down and kissed Elizabeth. "Hi," he said softly.

"Hi," she blushed. "But that looks painful," she stated, pointing toward Tom.

"Well, you aren't supposed to fall off," Jack said loud enough for Tom to hear.

"Very funny," Tom called back. "I'm not trying to."

"How about you, Lee?" Elizabeth asked. "Aren't you going to try this?"

"I tried," Lee said, looking down at his dirt covered clothes.

Elizabeth snickered at the site of the two men. Peyton tugged at Elizabeth's pants and she bent down and picked her up.

"Hi, Daddy."

"Hey, Pey Pey." Jack bent down and kissed her on the head, causing the little girl to giggle. "Want to ride? I think these guys need a break," Jack laughed.

"Ride!" Peyton shouted.

Jack reached down and pulled his daughter up onto the saddle in front of him. With his arms on either side of her, he picked up the reins and moved Jake out into a slow lope around the arena.

Elizabeth picked up Colton and the two watched as the happy little girl held her arms up as they made the large circle. After two rounds, Jack returned to Elizabeth and swapped kids, then repeated the ride for Colton.

When both twins were returned to the viewing area and playing with their dirt digging toys, Jack began crossing the arena to the opposite end.

"One of you ready to give it go again?"

"Why don't you do this and I'll ride?" Lee asked.

Jack stopped and turned his horse around, staring at Lee. "Ummm...do you really want me grabbing onto you and jumping onto the back of a horse while you try to stay on?"

Lee looked at his friend who had a good three inches on him and twenty pounds of muscle. "Nah, you're right. This way is better."

Tom and Elizabeth were both laughing by now.

"Hey, you should have your wife try it," Lee added, giving Elizabeth a smirk. "They do allow women."

Jack moved his gaze to his wife. "Well?"

"Oh, no," she said, waving her hands in front of her. "I don't think so. I'll leave the dare deviling to you three."

Jack kicked Jake into a lope and was quickly in front of Elizabeth. "I won't let you fall...if I can help it. You're lighter than them, it might be easier."

Elizabeth looked back and forth between the men, then shrugged her shoulders. "Why not."

"Whew!" Jack shouted, slapping his leg. "Cowgirl up, Sweetheart." Jack moved his horse over so Elizabeth could walk through the gate and Lee exited in order to watch the twins.

After some guidance from Jack, Elizabeth climbed onto the barrel and took her stance. Starting out slow, Jack trotted Jake around the barrel and Elizabeth slid onto the back of the horse. After doing that a couple of times for her to get the feel of it, he sped up into a slow lope. With one fall into the dirt and two more successful tries, Jack sped up even more. Within thirty minutes, Elizabeth was hooking her arm around Jack and swinging herself onto the back of the horse at a dead run.

Tom, who was leaning with his back against the fence next to Lee, who was on the other side with the twins, were both staring, jaw dropped, at the duo as they rode up.

"What's wrong boys?" Jack asked, grinning.

"You are so irritating," Lee said to Elizabeth. "Is there anything you can't do?"

"Oh...plenty, Lee. Plenty," she replied with a big grin on her face.

"Why don't you two give it a try. We can run two teams in the event," Jack suggested.

…..

An hour later, Elizabeth bundled the twins back up and put her coveralls and coat back on. With Lee on the horse, picking up Tom, the men had finally perfected their ride as well and were on their way home.

Once Jack had the horses put away, he returned to Elizabeth and picked up Colton, the heavier of the two, and the little family of four walked back to the house for some hot cocoa.

…..

January 28th, 2014 – Hope Meadows Ranch

A snow storm rolled in on the twins' third birthday. Jack and Elizabeth decided to cancel the party and just have some private time with the kids while the weather howled outside. The white stuff quickly accumulated, and the couple was glad they had cancelled their plans, not knowing how long it would stick around and hinder their driving.

The four were sitting around in a circle on a carpet on the floor, playing with some musical toys the twins had. Elizabeth showed Peyton how to pick out a few notes that made a familiar song to her and the little girl was ecstatic and sang along.

They made their lunch special by making it an indoor picnic. Jack spread out a blanket on the kitchen floor and the twins helped carry the plastic plates and utensils over, placing them on the blanket.

After lunch, Elizabeth cut the cake and served a slice to each one and they sat around their plaid blanket, pretending that they were outside by a lake.

At the end of the day, after the three-year-olds were worn out and in bed, Jack and Elizabeth curled up on the couch and watched a movie. The snow outside was still falling, making it impossible for anyone to get in or out. Jack had pushed his way through the almost knee deep snow earlier in order to chore and was worn out by the time he'd gotten back in the house, telling Elizabeth that his tracks from leaving the house, were already filled in by the time he returned.

Jack woke up around 1 am, his arm numb and tingling from the weight of Elizabeth leaning on him. The TV had gone to sleep and the logo was slowly moving around the screen. Jack pushed his wife up and removed his arm, rubbing it and shaking it, trying to get the feeling back.

"Hey," he said softly, pushing her once more.

Elizabeth stirred then sat straight up. "The twins," she blurted out.

"They're fine," Jack reassured her. "We fell asleep on the couch. Let's go to bed."

Jack stood and pulled Elizabeth to her feet and the two walked upstairs, hand in hand. Changed into their night clothes, they resumed their snuggling, keeping warm against the bitter cold blowing outside. Jack pulled the heavy quilt over them and they were soon back to sleep.

…..

February 3rd, 2014 – Hope Meadows Ranch

The snow had finally begun to melt. Jack had pushed their driveway clear with the tractor three days prior, as did Frank, Lee and Tom at their homes. Jack had also cleared a path from the house to the barn to make things easier.

Everyone had brought their gifts over at different times for the twins', so the toddlers thought their birthday had been the entire week.

Charlotte wanted her grandbabies for the day so Jack had run them over, leaving Jack and Elizabeth free to get some repairs done on a stall door in the barn. One of the horses had kicked a board out and constantly pawed at the hole, almost breaking down the entire door.

Elizabeth held the boards while Jack screwed them on, then they rehung the door.

"Teamwork makes the dream work, Baby," Jack teased as he pulled his gloves off and cupped her face. This is one of my favorite things, he added before pushing her back against a stall door and kissed her. He drew back and looked into her wanting eyes, "Yours, too?"

Elizabeth nodded, "Very much so."

Already, both of their hearts had begun to race. Their flames for one another were never extinguished so they quickly flared up by the simplest touch.

"Ready to go to the house," Elizabeth asked, her chest heaving slightly.

"Absolutely. I just need to put the horse back in its stall. I'll meet you there." Jack hurried over to where the horse was tied, pulled the rope loose, and led him to the stall.

Elizabeth was already out the door and halfway to the house before Jack had the stall door closed.

Once inside, she ran up the stairs and lit the fire in the fireplace, as well as a few candles scattered around the room.

She walked into the bathroom, discarding her clothes along the way, and jumped into the shower. Not long after the water had warmed and Elizabeth moved underneath it, she felt Jack's arms slide around her, tightening and pulling her in. His lips were on hers, kissing and sucking, nibbling slightly. Elizabeth felt a warmth within her began to spread throughout, beginning in her most personal area and reaching her toes. She moved her hand behind his head, her arms rested on his shoulders. She drew him in, deepening their kiss.

Elizabeth pulled back and laid her hands on Jack's chest. A grin filled her face as she pushed him back until he was against the wall. Jack looked at her, a little surprise and a lot of desire in his eyes. She pressed her body against his, feeling his very hard erection pressing on her stomach. She kissed his neck, his chest, his arms, and slowly worked her way down. Jack leaned his head back and closed his eyes, and a loud moan escaped him as she took him in her mouth. His hand quickly moved to the back of her head, ready to pull her away as he could feel himself about to go by the feel of her lips.

He grabbed her shoulders, pushing her back and moved his arms under hers, lifting her up as she wrapped her legs around his waist. Turning, he put her against the wall and pushed inside her. Jack moved very slow, wanting to take advantage of no interruptions. His arm was under her butt, holding her up and moving her along his hard shaft. His other hand pressed against the wall near her head, her hand gripping it for support. Feeling himself getting close again, he stopped, lowered her to the floor, and then turned the water off.

"Let's finish this in the bed."

They quickly towel dried, and still half damp, they retreated to the bedroom. Jack sat on the edge of the bed and pulled Elizabeth to him. She straddled him and moved onto his lap. Jack kissed her, his lips finding a trail from her ear down her neck and onto her shoulder. One hand was cupped over a breast, massaging and teasing her hardened nipple.

Jack stood and turned, laying Elizabeth across the bed. He lowered his body alongside hers, his leg draped over hers. He softly traced her features with his fingers, working his way down. Her collarbone. Her breast. Her navel. Her inner thigh.

The air was filled with the hint of cinnamon from one of the candles. The heat of the fireplace added to what the couple generated, forming small sweat beads across their skin.

Jack's calloused hand slid up the inside of her leg, moving her leg out, opening her up. He shifted his body over hers, gliding down, his lips tracing the invisible path that his fingers left. Her navel. Her inner thigh. His tongue leaving a damp trail and eagerly finding its treasure.

Elizabeth's hands clinched the bed sheet, drawing it up beside her, her knuckles white. Her toes curled as she felt herself building. Jack's relentless motions were not slowing until he reached his goal. Hearing her, knowing he'd done what he set out to do, he moved up her body, his lips and tongue gliding across her skin, his teeth nipping her here and there. Until he'd reached her mouth. He hovered inches from her lips as he entered her. Waiting for the gasp he knew was coming, he captured it with his mouth, taking it as his own, silencing her.

He moved inside his wife, in and out, carefully and strategically. He rested on his elbow, holding his weight off of her, watching her, kissing her. Feeling himself build again, not wanting to stop. He pinched his eyes closed, drawing it out just a little longer, waiting for her. As soon as he heard Elizabeth reach her peak again, Jack let loose and the couple climaxed together.

He dropped down onto the bed next to his wife, his hand resting across his abdomen, his vision blurred from the intensity. Trying to catch his breath, he slowed his breathing and drew in slow deep breaths.

Elizabeth, doing the same, laid her hand over her heart, feeling it almost pounding out of her chest. Her toes still slightly curled from the explosive wave that had coursed through her body. She straightened them out then turned onto her side, watching her husband. His arm now rested across his eyes, as he still tried to catch his breath.

She reached over and ran her fingertip along his nose and across his lips, and Jack moved his arm and turned his head to face her.

"Hello, Beautiful."

"Hello, Cowboy." She slid across him, laying across his sweaty body, as Jack wrapped his arms behind her. "I love you," she said, before closing the small space between them and kissing him.

"I love you, too."

"I think we need another shower."

"I think so, too," Jack replied, grinning.

"Think we can get through it without ending up here again?" She was grinning too, her finger brushing along his cheek.

"I have no idea but I'm willing to test it out."

Everyone watched as Savannah continued to impress them. She was running around the barrels on Cash in the indoor arena, her parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins all watching.

"She's going to take it all," Jack stated, watching his niece turn the third barrel.

"I think so," Tom added. "I just can't believe it. She tried this so many times on that darn pony but Blossom just wouldn't go faster than a trot. So, we had no idea."

"She definitely studied the sport," Jack said. "Did you see her watching them at that local show? It was like she was memorizing every little move on what to do and what not to do."

"I think she was," Tom said, laying his hand on his brother's shoulder. "And with yours and Rosemary's help, she took what she already knew and put it into play."

Savannah pulled Cash to a sliding stop at the gate, spraying up a small cloud of dust. Her smile, had taken a permanent residence on her face. She was talking with Rosemary about her last run while everyone watched.

"I'm done," she signed to her dad and waited for him to open the gate.

"Are you ready, Beth?" Jack asked his wife, grinning. "We need to keep practicing, too, if we're going to win."

Elizabeth shook her head; her cheeks took on a crimson hue.

"Practice what?" Charlotte asked.

"You'll see," Jack answered. "Beth and I are entering a new event together."

"What?" Charlotte asked, completely confused.

"Come on, Elizabeth. Please."

Jack's eyes and pouty lip always did Elizabeth in. She just couldn't say, "no."

"Fine," she said, pulling her coat off.

Jack let out a holler and untied Jake that was already saddled and tied in the corner of the arena next to Cisco.

With the barrel in place and Elizabeth on top of it, Jack took Jake to the opposite, turned, and kicked him into a full run.

Charlotte's hand covered her mouth, her eyes wide, unsure what she was about to witness.

Elizabeth stood, her knees bent, her arm out, and as Jack pulled Jake around the barrel, she grabbed Jack around the shoulders. But her arm slipped and went up around his neck as she swung completely around the horse.

Jack grabbed her arm and held on as Elizabeth brought her legs back onto the horse, dropping down behind him. Jack could feel her heart pounding against his back as she clutched on around his waist.

When they reached the end and he pulled Jake to a stop, Jack turned his head to look at his wife.

"You okay?" He asked, his voice soft and quiet.

"Yes," she replied, a giggle slipping out.

Jack turned in his seat more so he could see her face. Elizabeth was laughing and holding her hand against her heart.

"That was fun," she said between her chuckles.

"Oh, Beth," Jack stated, patting her hand that was still around his waist. "You just amaze me."

Elizabeth wiped the spilled oatmeal from the tray of the highchair and Peyton's face.

"Momma," Peyton blurted out with her arms up.

"Yes, Peyton?"

"Out!"

"Excuse me?"

"Out, pease."

"That's better." Elizabeth unclipped the tray and pulled it out, releasing Peyton as she wiggled out of her seat and down to the floor. "Are you done, too, Colt?"

"Down, please."

She removed his tray and Colton held his arms out for his mother to pick him up. Elizabeth pulled him up to her side, resting him on her hip.

As she tossed the dishcloth into the sink, the doorbell rang and Elizabeth turned toward the front of the house, watching Peyton run to the door, beating her.

"Peyton Grace. Don't you dare."

The little girl stopped in her tracks and waited for her mommy.

Elizabeth opened the door and saw a tall brunette standing there, staring back at her. "Hello. Can I help you?" Elizabeth asked, smiling, shifting Colton to her other hip.

The brunette looked nervous as she spoke. "Is...um...Jack Thornton home?"

"Jack is out working in the field right now. He should be back soon. Is there something I can help you with?"

Just as she asked, a small brown-haired boy stepped out from behind the woman and Elizabeth stopped breathing, her smile slowly vanishing. With wide eyes, she looked at the little boy in her arms, then back at the boy on the front porch.

Her heart felt as if it had stopped as she stared at the little boy who was a spitting image of Colton...and Jack.

Her eyes slowly lifted up to the woman's face who was looking empathetically at Elizabeth.

She put her hand out to shake Elizabeth's. "Hello. My name is Becky."
