Kim Possible woke with a start, her tired bleary eyes staring up from the lumpiness of her couch.

Mmnwutizzit? she thought fuzzily, the sound of someone knocking on her apartment door coming again.

She groaned as she sat up, the clock by the TV showing it was well past midday.

Geez! Insistent, much? she thought, the knocking coming yet again. "Coming!" she called out, rubbing the sleep from her eyes.

She stood up and stomped over to her front door, a quick look through the peephole curing her sleepiness.

Dr. Director? Here?

She grimaced as she ran a hand through her sleep–tangled hair, her dirty, sweat–stained clothes come pyjamas definitely not up for public viewing. Too late to freshen up or change, she let out a reluctant sigh as she cracked open the door.

"Kim, glad to have caught you at home," Dr. Director said, two burly Global Justice agents standing behind her in the corridor.

"Dr. Director," Kim replied as she tightened her grip on the door. "Look, my answers the same now as it was then, I'm not interested in joining–"

"Yes, you were very emphatic about that," Dr. Director said, cutting Kim off. "But that's not why I'm here. So, may I come in? I'd prefer to discuss this situation in private, and not out here in the hallway."

Uh– Kim thought, knowing the state of her apartment. When'd I last clean? Wash up? Monique's last visit? Oh geez. That was ages ago.

The new her wanted to just shut the door in Dr. Director's face, but the old her was still in there, deep down, as she reluctantly opened the door a tad wider. She eyed the two remaining agents as Dr. Director entered, neither agent seemingly intent on following their boss inside.

"I, uh… wasn't expecting visitors," Kim said, shutting the door.

"Of course," Dr. Director replied, looking around.

Kim followed Dr. Director's gaze, food wrappers, dirty dishes and clothes littering her cramped apartment. She wanted to curl up in embarrassment as she used to pride herself on her cleanliness, but that had all changed when–

Changed when–

Everything had changed.

Kim shook her head before her thoughts went down that road again, and she grabbed the clothes off the back of the sofa and threw them into an overflowing clothes hamper by the window. An empty pizza box that had been her makeshift pillow for the evening became a make do bin, a space quickly cleared for her guest.

"Seat?" Kim said, gesturing at the now vacant spot on the couch.

Dr. Director shook her head

"Uh, coffee?" Kim asked, stepping towards the kitchen.

"Kim, I'm not here for pleasantries," Dr. Director said. "A situation has arisen in Germany that you're eminently qualified to handle." She raised a finger before Kim could object. "It's a one off. You'll leave this evening, and be gone no longer than a week."

A week? "I have work tomorrow!"

"Actually, you don't. I've arranged for you to have time off with pay."

Kim crossed her arms and frowned.

I can't see it, but she's up to something, Kim thought. She has hundreds of agents, and there's only one reason why she'd come to me. Whatever the mission is, she'll try and trick me into joining Global Justice. She squared her jaw, decision made. "Sorry, but no. I'm happy being a bartender and sometimes bouncer as I… you know, work things out. So it's still a definite–"

"It's Shego," Dr. Director stated, holding out a plane ticket.

A small, tentative first chapter, but it's now out in the wild so I hope people like. It's been so long since I've posted something that I'm actually quite nervous.
