This is the last chapter that involves the Lavender Town Gym which means the plot will continue. Anyway, enjoy the last part of the Lavender Gym chapters.
"Are you sure you don't want to watch our gym battle?" Renée asked Diego, the three of them were in front of the gym.
"Nah, I think I'll sit this one out. I want to look around the city a bit more. Good luck in your battle though." Diego answered, leaving the twins who had entered the gym. Solomon was waiting for the pair with anticipation.
"So you're back. I hope you two have learned to work together." Solomon said.
"Mhmm, we spent all morning training!" Julia replied.
"We learned to accept each others faults just like you said, and we've turned them into our advantages!" Renée added.
"I suppose we'll see if that's true in our battle. Now, let's begin!" Solomon announced.
Diego walked around Lavender Town, he wasn't looking for anything in particular, but he never really had a chance to explore the town. He paid his respects to the deceased pokemon at the House of Memories, visited Mr. Fuji in the Pokemon House, and shopped a bit at the local mart. Though his attention shifted when he heard some sort of struggle.
"H-hey! S-stop it! That's my pokemon!" A voice cried, it sounded like a young girl.
Diego raced over to find out what was happenin and he saw Typhoon holding a pokeball with various stickers on it. The pokeball belonged to the little girl that had cried out earlier. She was tan and wore a pink shirt with a blue skirt. The girl tried to jump up to reach for her pokeball, but she wasn't tall enough to reach it. There were also two Team Dark Star grunts that were accompanying him.
"Give it back!" The girl cried, tears were beginning to form in her eyes.
"Heh, no can do." Typhoon laughed.
"Hey! What do you're think you're doing?!" Diego shouted, jumping into the fray. One of the TDS grunts recognized Diego... it was Pandora.
"Hmm, you again. I wish I could stay and completely destroy you with my pokemon, but I'm busy." Typhoon gloated, he turned to Pandora and the other grunt. "You two, take care of him for me."
Typhoon walked away, Pandora spoke to her ally using a special device in her mask that allowed them to to speak without Diego hearing them.
"Dakota... please go easy on this boy." Pandora said, her voice shaking.
"Wait what? What do you mean? Do you know this guy?" The TDS grunt, Dakota, asked.
"Yes, and I... I."
"You like him a lot. Alright, I'll go easy on him. But you have to battle him, too. Typhoon won't be happy if gets past us easily." Dakota stated. Pandora joined Dakota and the two sent out their pokemon to battle Diego.
The twins were still battling Solomon, they were working together much better than their previous battle.
"Joltik, use Electroweb!"
"Snorunt, hit them with your Icy Wind!"
The two pokemon sent out their attacks at the two ghosts, who looked out of breath and already heavily damaged, in contrast to Joltik and Snorunt, who looked like they barely took any hits.
The combined force of the attacks was more than enough to put both Haunter and Mismagius down.
"Looks like you were telling the truth when you said you worked on your teamwork, but now the real battle begins. Drifblim, Chansey, now it's your time to shine!" Solomon said, sending out his two best pokemon.
"Ok sis, just like we planned." Renée whispered to her sister.
"Got it... what was the plan again?" Julia responded.
"Aim for Drifblim first, it's the only one out of the two that can actually cause damage. All Chansey does is mess with the weather."
"Ah, ok. So well just do the same combination as before?" Julia asked to which Renée nodded.
A few minutes later, Diego was still battling Pandora and Dakota. Diego's Charmeleon was facing off against Dakota's Bag on while Psyduck was fighting Pandora's Nuzleaf.
"Nuzleaf, use Leaf Blade!"
The Wily pokemon charged at Psyduck, Nuzleaf's arm was glowing as green as a leaf.
"Psyduck, use Cross Chop!" Diego ordered, Psyduck avoided Nuzleaf's attack and hit it right in the abdomen, the super-effective attack cleanly took Nuzleaf out.
"Charmeleon, use Draco Bullet!"
"Bagon, use Bite!" Dakota commanded. Charmeleon charged for Bagon with its fist glowing purple and gold. Bagon bit Charmeleon's fist causing some considerable damage to both pokemon.
"Use Dragon Breath!" Both boys ordered simultaneously. Charmeleon and Bagon shot out a purple and gold flame from their mouths. These flames collided with each other, causing a beam clash. The clash went on for about am entire minute before Charmeleon overpowered Bagon, taking it out.
"Argh, it's over. Why did Duskull have to go down so quickly..." Dakota said under his breath.
"Now where is Typhoon?!" Diego questioned.
"We're not allowed to tell you." Dakota answered.
"He's probably headed to Route 8. If you hurry then you might be able to catch up to him." Pandora noted.
"Thanks." Diego said, he began to run off but then he noticed the girl who's pokemon was taken. He walked up to her with a smile on his face. "Don't worry, I'll get your pokemon back and that's a promise. Meet me in the Pokemon Center later ok?" The girl nodded and ran off in the direction of the PC while Diego ran for the entrance of Route 8.
Back in the gym, the twins seemed to be struggling a bit more against Solomon's Drifblim and Chansey. There was currently a sandstorm causing damage to all the pokemon, thanks to Chansey. Chansey and Drifblim took a reasonable amount of damage, plus their speed had been greatly lowered due to Joltik's Electroweb and Snorunt's Icy Wind. However, Drifblim's Weather Ball had taken down Snorunt. Julia sent out her Sealeo as her last pokemon.
"Now things get interesting." Julia said. "Sealeo, hit them with an Aurora Beam!"
"Joltik, use Signal Beam on Drifblim!" Renée ordered.
"Drifblim, take Joltik out with Weather Ball." Solomon commanded. The three pokemon sent out their attacks, the Weather Ball knocked Joltik out, though the Signal Beam and Aurora Beam hit Drifblim dead on. Unfortunately for the twins, it failed to knock Drifblim out.
"Alright... it's all up to these two now." Renée said, sending out a newly evolved Ampharos.
Diego caught up to Typhoon, who was just leaving the Town.
"Hmph, I guess this is what I get for taking my time. Now I have to deal with you, what a bother." Typhoon said.
"I won't let you get away!" Diego exclaimed.
"Look at you trying to be the big hero! Well, I guess I'll just have to take you out then." Typhoon said slyly. Both if them reached reached for their pokeballs, Diego sent out his Charmeleon while Typhoon sent out his Scizor.
"Nice going, sending out a Steel and Bug type pokemon against a Fire type!" Diego teased.
"Hehe, oh you'll definitely be in for a surprise with this..." Typhoon said, a Key Stone had flashed on the forehead of his mask.
"Is that...?" Diego said uneasily.
"Yes, it is! Scizor, Mega Evolve!" Typhoon announced, Scizor and Typhoon Key Stone began to glow in a burst of light. When the light finally dimmed, Scizor had mega evolved into Mega Scizor!
Back with the twins, Ampharos and Sealeo had just enough bulk to survive Drifblim's attacks, but the sandstorm was chipping them down. However, Drifblim and Chansey looked like they couldn't take much more punishment, at the same time, the sandstorm had finally ended.
"Ampharos, take Drifblim out with Power Gem!" Renée exclaimed, Ampharos' gem began glowing, creating several purple gems made out of light. These gems flew towards Drifblim, smashing into it and shattering as if they were glass. This was just enough to take Drifblim down.
"Hehehe. I'm amazed, you two shaped up a lot since our last battle. This battle is over, you've won." Solomon praised.
"Wait what do you mean?" Julia asked.
"Don't we have to take out Chansey, too?" Renée added.
"Well my Chansey is just a huge sitting Psyduck by itself, it has no attacking moves. So I'm afraid I have to forfeit." Solomon explained. "But since you did win, I'm honored to give you these." Solomon handed the twins two Amity Badges.
"We did it, we won!" Julia cheered, hugging her sister.
Diego was struggling to take down Typhoon's Mega Scizor, Charmeleon had taken heavy damage while Scizor barely took any damage. Scizor was just hammering Charmeleon with every attack it had in its disposal.
"Scizor, destroy him with Insect Crash." Typhoon commanded, Scizor began to glow greyish-green and it charged for Charmeleoj, smashing it into the ground. Charmeleon slowly got back up on its feet, it then began to glow red...
'Blaze... this just might be my chance.' Diego thought to himself. Just as he was about to order Charmeleon to use Flame Burst, he had an idea.
"Charmeleon, let's end this now. Use Flamethrower!" Diego commanded, Charmeleon let out an intense flame that was almost white hot. The flame hit Scizor dead on and caused enough damage to take out the Mega Scizor.
"Argh, what?! Fine then, take the stupid pokemon!" Typhoon said, tossing the pokeball to Diego. Typhoon took out a Smoke Ball and used it to escape.
Later in the evening, the twins were waiting for Diego in the Pokemon center, just as they were about to go out and look for him, Diego entered the building and approached the little girl that he met earlier.
"Here, I told you I would get your pokemon back." Diego said, giving the girl her pokeball.
"Yay! Thank you mister, now I have my Nidoran back!" The girl said in joy, leaving the pokemon center and heading home. The twins approached Diego, the looked proud of him.
"You helped that little girl get her pokemon back?" Renée asked.
"Yup, some Dark Star thugs were trying to steal it but thankfully I got it back." Diego explained.
"Aww, that's so sweet of you to do!" Julia said.
"So how did the gym battle go? Did you win?"
"Of course!" Renée answered confidently, showing off her badge. Nurse Joy approached the trio.
"Excuse me, you three have a call waiting for you." She said. They went to the video phone where Shade was waiting for them.
"Hey Shade? How have things been?" Julia asked.
"They've been pretty good, I called because I wanted to know if you guys were going to the Champions Festival in Saffron City." Shade responded.
"Champions Festival?" Diego asked.
"Yeah, Champions from other regions are coming to Saffron City. Trainers are allowed to battle the Champions, too!" Shade explained.
"Maybe Aunt Cynthia will be there!" Julia suggested.
"Yeah it would be awesome to see her again!" Renée added.
"I guess we'll be there Shade." Diego answered.
"Cool, I'll see you there." Shade said, hanging up the video phone.
What sort of interesting things will we see in the Champions Festival? Is Julia and Renée's Aunt Cynthia the Cynthia you're thinking of? You'll find out soon, for now, I hope you enjoyed.
