I haven't forgotten about the other and to prove it, here's a chapter focused on one outside of the group! ... Ok but in all seriousness this chapter isn't here because of the previously aforementioned reason, this is a chapter that does coincide with the plot. Anyway, enjoy the chapter.
While most people were in the Champions Festival, Styles Kaizu was in Vermillion City. He wasn't too fond of people so he didn't really want to attend the festival. He exited the Pokemon Academy after visiting his old professors. He had just beaten Lt. Surge and gotten his fifth Kanto Gym Badge. He had to make the choice of going through Routes 11-15 or go down Cycling Road to get to Fuchsia City.
As he was deciding he overheard some working by the docks of the S.S Anne (which had already left on its yearly journey some time ago).
"What're we shippin' again?"
"We're sending some stuff to Sinnoh later, but they just sent over a few minerals that are supposed to be shipped to the Pewter Museum."
"Anything interesting?"
"Well there is some sort of Frozen Rock that apparently has some 'energy within it'."
As soon as the worker finished his statement, several TDS grunts surrounded them.
"And that's the energy we're searching for! Hand over the rock!"
Styles sprang into action, sending out his Eevee to battle them.
"It's a little early for Halloween, isn't it?" Styles said, commenting on the uniforms the Team Dark Star grunts had on.
"What?! I'll have you know that this is the official uniform for Team Dark Star!" One of the grunts responded.
"You look like a bunch of fools." Styles said.
"Grr, that's it! Let's get this kid!"
A few of the grunts sent out their pokemon while a few of the others took the opportunity to sneak inside the ship, however they weren't completely successful.
"Hey! Where are you goin'?" One of the dock workers shouted, he and his coworker chased the grunts inside of the ship.
After finishing off the grunts, Styles went inside of the ship to catch the remaining members of Team Dark Star. As he ran through the halls of the ship, he found the workers on the floor, writhing in pain.
"Urgh... kid, be careful. Those guys are tough..."
"Where are they?" Styles asked.
"They're going down to the basement, be careful kid. If our Machokes and Vigoroths couldn't beat em' then you might have a tough time... no offense."
Styles headed down to the basement, just as the workers said, the TDS grunts were grabbing as many of the boxes they could.
"Which one has the Frozen Rock?" One grunt asked.
"I don't know, just grab all of them!" Another grunt answered.
"Eevee, use Take Down." Styles said. Eevee smashed it's body into one of the TDS grunts, knocking him down and forcing him to let go of the box he was holding. Coincidentally, the box contained a piece of the Frozen Rock. Eevee seemed to be attracted to the rock, the other grunts sent out their pokemon to battle.
"Solrock, use Rock Throw!"
"Lunatone, Confusion now!"
Eevee touched the rock, causing it to glow a soft blue color.
"Eevee, use Bite on the Solrock."
Eevee charged at the Solrock, easily avoiding it's attack. Eevee's attack connected, easily taking Solrock down.
"Aw what?! How strong is that Eevee?!"
"He's not strong, you just need more training. Lunatone, use Hypnosis!"
"Dodge it and use Disarming Voice, Eevee." Styles commanded, the waves of Hypnosis and Disarming Voice collided with each other but Eevee's attack was much stronger, causing it to destroy the Hypnosis attack and knock out Lunatone.
"What we're you saying about him being weak?"
"S-shut up!"
While the grunts argued, Styles noticed that Eevee was evolving. Once Eevee had stopped glowing, Styles now had an elegant and strong Glaceon. Styles scanned his newly evolved Glaceon with his pokedex.
'Glaceon, the Fresh Snow pokemon: By controlling it's body heat, it can freeze the atmosphere around it to make a diamond-dust flurry.'
Styles smiled at his new pokemon, who smiled back at him.
"Oh great, it evolved. Now it's even stronger!" One of the grunts complained.
"I'm calling Sirius."
"No! If you call him then he'll know we failed!"
"Would you rather be frozen by this guy and his Glaceon?"
"Ugh, fine."
One of the grunts pressed a button on some sort of remote that let out a signal. In about a minute Sirius arrived on scene.
"Well, well, well. What is going on here? Another kid that's managed to best members of Team Dark Star. Why is it that kids always seem to mess with groups like us?" Sirius asked rhetorically.
"A better question is, why do people form criminal organizations that have enough flaws to be defeated by a kid?" Styles responded.
"Heh, you've got spunk kid. Too bad I'll have to beat it out of you."
Sirius sent out his Sandslash while Styles sent out a Clauncher.
Meanwhile in the TDS building, the Boss called Sandra, Max, Simon, Pandora and Ryan into his office. The office was dark despite it being the middle of the day and tension filled the air.
"Y-you wanted to see us boss?" Ryan asked hesitantly.
"Yes I did, despite being new recruits you five have shown much potential and I'm very impressed, mostly with you Pandora." The boss explained. Pandora was confused as to why she impressed the boss as she disliked her work, especially now since she was beginning to catch on to what Team Dark Star was planning. Her confusion had left her in a daze which she snapped out of when Boss plucked a piece of hair off of her head.
"There will be a meeting later today. I need everyone to be there, including you five."
"We'll be there!" Simon affirmed.
"Very good. You are dismissed." Boss said, the five of them left the office. Their boss inspected the hair he plucked off of Pandora's head and snickered ominously.
Back in Vermillion City, Styles had taken down Sirius' Sandslash and was now using his Glaceon to battle Sirius' Gabite.
"A Dragon and Ground Type pokemon pitted against an Ice Type pokemon. The odds are stacked against you." Styles stated.
"Hehe, don't underestimate me kid. I'm full of surprises, like this one! Gabite, use Iron Head!" Sirius announced.
"What?! Gabite can learn Iron Head?!" Styles said in shock. "This might be tough, Glaceon use Icy Wind!"
Gabite charged at Glaceon, it's head glowing a metallic silver. But it was stopped dead in its tracks when Glaceon blew out a frozen breath it's way. Despite Gabite being 4x weak to the attack it was still standing strong.
"You can't take Gabite down so easily. Use Brick Break, Gabite!"
Gabite raised its claw and slammed it down onto Glaceon's head, causing the pokemon tremendous pain.
"Glaceon hold on! Use Ice Fang!"
Glaceon leaped up and bit into Gabite's head with its teeth infused with icy strength. This attack actually managed to cause pain to Gabite. Surprisingly, it also caused damage to Glaceon as well.
"What? How is Glaceon hurt?" Styles said in shock.
"Hmph, my Gabite's ability is Rough Skin. Any physical attacks you use on it will cause some damage to you!" Sirius explained. The battle was interrupted when Sirius received a message. He recalled Gabite back into its pokeball and headed for the exit.
"Hey, where are you going?!" Styles questioned.
"The boss needs us back at the base. Troops, we're heading out! Leave the stuff here, we're not gonna need it!" Sirius announced, the other Team Dark Star grunts dropped whatever they had and fled the ship. Styles tried following them but they were gone when he left the ship. The workers from earlier approached Styles.
"Hey, thanks for driving those guys out of here kid! Who were they anyway?"
"No problem and I guess they call themselves Team Dark Star and from what they said back in the ship, there are more of them somewhere in the region." Styles answered.
"Well I'll let Officer Jenny know about them. As for us, we need to get back to work. Best of luck to ya' kid!" The worker said, heading back to work. Styles went to the center of Vermillion City with his Glaceon.
"So Glaceon, Fuchsia City is our next destination. Should we go down Cycling Road or through all of the routes?"
Glaceon turned to the east, towards the coastal routes.
"So through the routes then. Alright, we'll enjoy nature and get a lot of training in on the way. Good choice Glaceon!" Styles said happily, petting Glaceon's head.
Later, every member of Team Dark Star had gathered into an auditorium-like room.
"Attention everyone! It fills me with great displeasure to know that there are a few members of our organization that have taken it upon themselves to look into the secret files of our work. I would like to remind you all that these action are a disgrace to Team Dark Star and those involved will be punished to the fullest extent. However I am not unreasonable, if those who are involved come forward then perhaps I will be more lenient in my punishment. That is all, continue your work and continue to help Team Dark Star prosper!"
After the speech, Sandra pulled the others aside.
"How did he find out?! I thought we made all the preparations!" Sandra whispered.
"He must have eyes everywhere, how else would he know!" Ryan responded.
"He might be using a Ghost - Type pokemon to phase through the walls and report any information it finds to him." Max suggested.
"He never said it was us, but he is starting to get suspicious." Pandora noted.
"That's true, but why would he want to the five of us specifically?" Sandra questioned.
"Maybe he just thinks you guys have been working hard." Someone said, the five of them turned and saw Dakota. "Sorry for jumping into the conversation like that, but the boss probably wanted to talk to you because he knows you've been working hard."
"You're probably right." Simon answered. The rest of his group knew that Simon knew the truth and that he only said it so Dakota wouldn't get suspicious, so they went along with him.
"Alright then! Well we have some free time, you guys wanna get a bite to eat?" Dakota asked, the others agreed and went to get lunch with him.
That evening when everyone had gone to bed, the Boss phased through the wall and into Max's room. He plucked a hair off of Max's head, and grinned to himself. He turned to look at a shadow on the wall he came in from. Despite the room being dark already, the shadow seemed almost pitch black.
"You are the just the first success out of Team Dark Star my pet. The Chimera Project is very nearly complete. Now we can move on to Project Dark Mirror."
The shadow opened its eyes and grinned at the Boss, it's eyes and mouth giving off an eerie white glow.
"Now, take me back to my office. My wife should have the information about the M.D. and Excels us as well as our little Renegade."
The shadow grabbed onto Boss and phased through the wall again, giving off some sort of corrupted data particles as it went. Once they were gone, Max woke up. He looked around the room and felt an eerie air around him. Whatever was just in his room with the boss was not natural, neither man nor pokemon...
What did the Boss have with him? Does he know Pandora and her group were snooping around? Keep reading and find out...
