This chapter will be the first to have a character to finally have a full team of six pokemon. Other than that there isn't much for me to say.
It was a brisk morning on Route 6, our three adventures were passing through the route and heading to Vermilion City.
"I can't wait to see the school again!" Renée said.
"I wonder if any of the others went to visit him or the other teachers?" Julia pondered.
"Well I'm just ready to get my next badge!" Diego exclaimed. A small green figure leaped from the trees and latched on to Diego's backpack. It grabbed his badge case and jumped back into the trees.
"What the heck was that?!" Renée asked in shock.
"There's another one over here!" "Quick, don't let it get away!" "How many of them are there?" Trainers called out as they scrambled all over the route.
"What's going on? What's gotten everyone so excited?" Julia asked.
"It's a swarm of Treecko."
The three of them looked up to see Dwayne standing up in a tree with his Staravia and Roselia.
"Treecko don't usually appear until later in the summer, and even then they're only here for a short time. It's not normal to see them here this early in the year, because of this trainers from all over come here to try and catch one. The Union sent me here to find out why they're here." Dwayne explained.
"Well one of those things took my badge case!" Diego said sternly.
"Don't worry, we'll help you get it back. The Treecko must be agitated by whatever brought then here so early." Dwayne replied. "This way." He said, the four of them ran deeper into the route.
In the deepest part of the route, a large tree stood tall, various Treecko seemed to be running all around it. The Treecko that took Diego's badges tried to climb up the tree but was caught by someone.
"Gotcha you little weasel!" He said. Treecko smacked the man in the face with his tail and continued climbing up.
"Darn lizard!" The man groaned.
"Are you just gonna sit there or are you gonna climb up there and catch the darn thing!" Another man said, this man was shorter and fatter than the first. They each wore tan overalls with white shirts underneath.
"Come on Slim, you know I can't climb trees!" The first man complained.
"Carl, we chased these vermin here all the way from Azalea Town and now you're gonna start complaining!" Slim shouted. Slim then noticed what looked like a tail of another Treecko, but this one seemed different.
Meanwhile, our group had sent out their flying type pokemon to search for the Treecko.
"Staravia, I need you to get a bird's eye view of the area. Look for the Treecko that has Diego's badge case." Dwayne said.
"Crobat, I want you to go with Staravia." "You too, Jigglypuff." Diego and Julia added, though the others were confused as to why Julia wanted Jigglypuff to go with them.
"Uh... Julia, Jigglypuff can't fly..." Dwayne stated.
"Yeah, but it can puff up its body enough for it to float. It won't be able to move very fast, but she should still be able to look around the woods." Julia explained.
"That's... actually a really good idea sis." Renée noted.
"Come on, we need to start looking! I don't want to have to earn my badges a second time!" Diego hollered.
As the pokemon searched from he skies, Staravia overheard the poachers. Apparently they encountered someone.
"I do not approve of what you are doing to these pokemon, release them at once."
"No can do Dollface, there's big bucks to make with these Treecko!" Slim explained. "Maybe I can use some of those bucks to take you out to dinner sometime?"
"If you will not listen to reason, then listen to my pokemon. Togekiss, I need you now!"
Staravia called out to Crobat and Jigglypuff, telling them to return to their trainers.
"Did you find my badges?!" Diego asked. Staravia roosted on a nearby tree and pointed it's body in the direction of where it saw the poachers.
"This way!" Dwayne announced, the group ran towards the big tree and finally saw the poachers, who had their pokemon easily taken down by the woman and her Togekiss.
"My my, it's been a while since I've seen you Julia, Diego, and Renée." The woman said, it was Meridia, she smiled at the group.
"You guys know this woman?" Dwayne asked them.
"Yup, she's helped us out a few times already. You can trust her!" Julia said gleefully.
"Alright, no more mister nice guy! Y'all are gonna have to forget what you've seen today!" Carl shouted.
"Yeah. We can't let a Ranger, a gorgeous lady, and some kids walk all over us!" Slim added. The two of them sent out an Electrode and a Weezing respectively.
Just before the two of them were about to order their pokemon to attack. The two ticking time bombs were hit by a barrage of seeds.
"What is it raining melons?" Slim asked. The Treecko from earlier jumped down from the tree, ready to join the others in the battle.
"Hey, that's the Treecko that took my badges!" Diego announced.
"I think we have more important things to worry about than your badges you knucklehead!" Renée exclaimed.
"I think we might be done for partner!" Carl said, backing up a little bit.
"Not yet, we just have to take out the strongest pokemon they have, once we do they'll run off screaming. That'll be our chance to take 'em out." Slim whispered to his cohort.
"Weezing, hit the Togekiss with a Sludge Bomb!"
"Electrode, use Electro Ball on Togekiss as well!"
The two projectiles were fired at Meridia's Togekiss, though neither it nor Meridia looked worried.
"Use Dazzling Gleam." Meridia orderes. Togekiss' body began to glow, the area then exploded with a bright light that caused the attacks coming towards it to completely dissolve.
"Uh... what do we do know?!" Carl asked , his voice shaking.
"Hush! We gotta make sure we're intimidating to them." Slim whispered.
"Y-yeah."
"Can you help me teach these criminals a lesson?" Meridia asked the trainers.
"Of course!" Julia quickly replied, the others agreed as well.
"Ok partner, change of plans, target the ranger." Slim stated.
"Use, Thunderbolt on the Staravia!" Both of the poachers ordered.
Right before anyone had time to react, Diego's Sandile appeared from out of its pokeball and was hit by the Thunderbolts. Since it was a Ground Type pokemon, the electric type attacks did no damage to it.
"We must end this quickly. Togekiss, use Aura Sphere!" Meridia commanded.
"Staravia, hit them with a Whirlwind Spin!" "Jigglypuff, use Hyper Voice!"
"Larvesta burn them with an Ember!" "Sandile, take them out with Sonic Sand!"
Even the Treecko attacked them, using Bullet Seed to help.
All of the attacks came together and easily took down the poachers' pokemon.
"W-what?! That's not fair!" Slim shouted.
"You've caused enough trouble already, Officer Jenny will deal with you." Meridia said.
"I'll take them to Officer Jenny in Saffron City." Dwayne stated.
"Wait, let me help you with that. Larvesta, trap them with String Shot!" Renée commanded. Larvesta spit out a stream of silk, trapping the poachers in a cocoon.
"Oh this is just great!" Slim shouted.
The Treecko approached Diego and handed him his badge case.
"Thanks little dude, I guess you're not such a bad pokemon after all." Diego said.
"Perhaps Treecko knew the poachers were trying to catch him and his family and he recognized you as a strong trainer, though he needed a reason for you to help him." Meridia suggested.
Treecko then took a pokeball from Diego's backpack and caught itself.
"Well that was... unexpected..." Dwayne said.
"I don't care, I just caught a Treecko!" Diego cheered.
"Technically you only caught your Sandile." Renée stated. "Every other pokemon you have chose to go with you."
"We'll either way, it's still awesome that I have a Treecko." Diego said, shrugging his shoulders.
Everyone's attention shifted to Sandile, who was evolving.
When the light of Sandile evolving, Diego's Krokorok stood tall. It looked at the poachers and snatched a pair of sunglasses that Carl was wearing.
"Hey, that's a pair of Black Glasses! They're supposed to power up a pokemon's Dark Type attack!" Renée exclaimed.
"What we're you doing wearing a pair of Black Glasses Carl?!" Slim shouted.
"I thought they looked cool. I saw them in a store one day and I bought 'em, I never knew my pokemon was supposed to wear it, hehe." Carl explained.
"...You're an idiot..." Slim said. Staravia picked up the two poachers.
"Well, I'll take these two to Saffron. It was nice seeing you guys again, and it was nice to meet you Ms. Meridia." Dwayne said.
"Wait, let me take them, as a Ranger you must be busy enough already." Meridia stated.
"Are you sure you want to take them?" Julia asked.
"Of course, my pokemon are strong enough to beat them. Though they already seem incompetent enough." Meridia answered. Togekiss picked up the poachers, Meridia hopped onto Togekiss' back and began to fly away.
"Take care, all of you! We will meet again soon!" Meridia said, bidding farewell to the trainers.
"Wow, she really nice!" Dwayne stated.
"I know right!" Julia added.
"Well I should at least help you guys get to the entrance of Vermillion City." Dwayne said.
At the end of Route 6, the four of them were about to step back into the city where their adventures first began.
"Well, I have to leave. Take care guys." Dwayne said.
"Bye Dwayne! It was nice seeing you!" Renée replied. The three of them waved goodbye to Dwayne who waved back at them. Some rustling in a nearby bush caught Dwayne attention. He followed the sound and he was led to a Hidden Grotto.
Inside the Hidden Grotto, Dwayne saw the red Treecko tail that one of the poachers had seen earlier. Dwayne got out his Capture Stylus and readied himself.
In Vermillion City, the group was resting up in the pokemon center.
"So we're going to the gym tomorrow?" Diego asked.
"What are you saying?! We have to visit the Academy!" Julia responded.
"Yeah, we need to see Professor Goff again!" Renée added.
"Alright, alright. Well go back to the academy." Diego said in a sour tone.
"Oh come on, you're just mad because you never liked going to class." Renée teased.
"Yeah well... whatever!" Diego replied, clearly embarrassed. The twins giggled a little bit at his embarrassment. The three of them looked at the sunset, it's one of the things that made Vermillion City famous. It even gave Vermillion City it's name as the sunset was a vibrant vermilion color.
"It feels like just yesterday we were watching the same sunset after class ended for the day." Renée stated.
"Yeah... I wonder what some of the others are doing since they graduated. We haven't seen Simon, Ryan, or Pandora in a while." Julia noted.
"Well maybe we'll see them soon!" Diego said.
"I'm sure we will, but for now we should get something to eat, I'm starving!" Renée chuckled.
"Yeah, food!" Julia cheered.
"FOOD!" Diego chanted.
While the three of them went to go eat, a wild Misdreavus was watching the three of them as they went. It seemed to be watching Julia specifically.
Why is the Misdreavus following the group? What does it want? But more important, are our trainers ready to battle for their sixth gym badge?
