It's a little late to be bringing this up, but since the Kanto region has changed drastically since it was last shown, there are probably few questions about how it has changed, which I will gladly answer. But aside from that, here's chapter 51.

The trio continued onto Route 13, Diego looked bitter about his loss to Alan, which made the silence between him and the twins rather awkward. Though the awkward tension was lifted once their stomachs started to grumble.

"Well it looks like it's time for lunch!" Diego announced cheerfully, snapping out of the sour mood he was in.

"Of all the things to cheer you up, it has to be food." Renée chuckled with Julia laughing along, as the three were making lunch a Scientist ran up to them.

"Trainers! Come quickly, my coworkers and I need your assistance!" He called out, sounding frantic and worried.

"Woah dude, what's the rush?" Diego asked.

"I work for the Kanto Power Plant and there's an emergency that requires your assistance! If this problem isn't resolved all of Kanto could be without power! The results could be catastrophic!"

"But why do you need our help?" Julia asked.

"The problem is being caused by an electric pokemon, I'm not a trainer and nobody I work with is very good with pokemon either. Please, we need your help!" The Scientist pleaded.

"Sure. Let's go guys!" Renée agreed. The three of them followed the scientist back to the Power Plant.

When the four of them had arrived, a large man in a suit approached the scientists, he looked just as worried as everybody else.

"Baxter, did you find some trainers that can help us?" The man asked.

"Yes Boss, they're right here!" The scientist, Baxter, responded. The Boss turned to the trio.

"I'm sorry for having you brought here on such short notice. My name is Galvin Powell, owner of the Kanto Power Plant." The boss said, introducing himself.

"My name is Renée, this is my sister Julia and our friend, Diego." Renée introduced.

"What's the problem here?" Diego asked.

"There's an overload of electricity going through the system. An electric type pokemon is most likely the cause. It's on the roof, blasting electricity into the building, however not many of us have pokemon and those that do aren't very skilled at battling. So if the pokemon on the roof is hostile, it will not end well." Mr. Powell answered.

"Mr. Powell! We have another trainer who wants to help!" A scientist called from outside. He ran inside the building with another trainer with him. The trainer wore dark clothing and had a pocket watch as a necklace. He seemed to recognize Diego but he tried not to act surprised when he saw him.

"Another trainer? Good. We need all the help we can get. What is your name boy?" Mr. Powell asked.

"The name's Dakota." The trainer replied.

"It's good to have your help Dakota. I assume my employee has already brought you up to speed?" Mr. Powell asked to which Dakota nodded. "Good. Now-"

Before Mr. Powell could begin speaking, one of the engineers ran up to him.

"B-boss. I'd like to help!"

"Tesla? Are you sure?"

"Positive sir! I may not be good at battling, but I cant let a catastrophe befall Kanto." Tesla responded.

"Tesla, once this is over, I'm giving you a raise!" Mr. Powell said. "Now, I must warn you all, the electrical energy the pokemon is sending out has caused many electric pokemon to break into the upper floors. This has caused the entirety of these floors to become electrically charged to the point where it is physically impossible to step onto them without being electrocuted. So it is a must that you wear these rubber suits." Mr. Powell explained.

"Why rubber?" Diego asked.

"It's because rubber doesn't conduct electricity, so we're safe from any electric shocks." Dakota explained.

Suddenly, Renée Joltik was released from its pokeball.

"Wha-? Joltik, what's gotten into you?" Renée questioned the tiny bug.

"A Joltik?! That should be a great help!" Tesla exclaimed to some of the trainer's confusion. "Joltik are known to feed off of electricity, so it would be an immense help to us in this situation! They're absolutely marvelous!"

Joltik looked pleased and joyful at Tesla's praise of it. The lights of the building then began to flicker.

"We haven't got much time, hurry!" Mr. Powell exclaimed. The five of them rushed onto the upper floors.

Once they had entered the upper floors, everyone saw why they had to wear the rubber suits; The entire floor had been altered by Electric Terrain, supercharging the floor to the point where stepping on it normally would result in electrocution.

"Woah, what happened here?!" Dakota exclaimed.

"It's the pokemon." Tesla answered. "Some of the pokemon that have gathered here must not be totally able to control the amount of electricity they're absorbing so they use Electric Terrain to balance out their levels of electric power with using up all of it."

Suddenly, a group of Raichu, Luxio, Luxray, Pikachu, Manectric, and Magneton approached the group. They seemed to be hostile and defensive over the current environment.

"It looks like we have to fight our way through." Diego said eagerly.

"It's best if we use pokemon that benefit from the Electric Terrain ourselves, are immune to electricity, or can levitate. Otherwise they may be seriously injured." Tesla explained.

"Immune to electricity? Perfect! Krokorok, it's your time to shine!" Diego said, sending out his Krokorok and Raichu, which benefitted from the Electric Terrain.

"If Electric Terrain strengthens Electric pokemon then Ampharos will love it here!" Renée added, sending out her Ampharos. Dakota sent out a Rotom, which was in its regular form.

"A Rotom?! Fascinating! I've never seen one up close before!" Tesla said in awe over the Electric Ghost before he sent out his pokemon, which was a Porygon, which hovered above the floor using electromagnetism. Renée's Joltik appeared from out of its pokeball again, looking ready to fight.

"But I don't have any pokemon that can help!" Julia said, slightly disappointed.

"Surely you must have something." Tesla responded. Julia thought for a moment before she had an idea.

"This might he risky, but it's all I have. I choose you, Jigglypuff!" Julia announced, sending out her Jigglypuff. Upon seeing the environment and the sparks flying everywhere, Jigglypuff puffed herself up to keep herself in the air.

All of them charged at the wild pokemon, sparks flew everywhere and the battle proceeded into other rooms on the floor. During the battle Diego asked Tesla a question.

"Hey, I've been thinking, what's this catastrophe that'll happen if we don't fix this problem?"

"Well, we've pinned it down to two end results with three different causes. Either the entire Kanto region and possibly some parts of Johto will be left without electricity for several months due to either a complete lack of power or being overcharged, alternatively the immense amount of electricity will cause an inevitable explosion that could wipe out most of the region." Tesla answered, Diego's jaw dropped in pure shock at the answer.

Meanwhile, Julia was battling a Raichu, she and her Jigglypuff seemed to be having a bit of a rough time trying to battle and keep Jigglypuff airborne at the same time. The wild Raichu suddenly jumped up and used it's tail to slam Jigglypuff onto the floor. Julia's heart stopped for a moment, she thought her pokemon would be badly injured, or worse. To her surprise and the surprise of the others, Jigglypuff wasn't affected by the electrified floor.

"It's not hurting her? ... It's not hurting her!" Julia announced in joy. Tesla looked confused, but suddenly realized why Jigglypuff wasn't electrocuted.

"It must be it's elastic body! Jigglypuff's rubber - like skin must he protecting it from the electrified floor!"

"Well if that's the case, I still need to pay these pokemon back for scaring me like that! Everybody cover your ears! Jigglypuff, Hyper Voice!" Julia ordered. Jigglypuff took deep breath and suddenly shouted loudly enough to knock every wild pokemon on the floor unconscious.

"Woah, nice work!" Dakota praised. Everyone's attention suddenly shifted to Joltik, who was consuming the Electric Terrain, turning the entire floor back to normal!

"What an astounding little marvel!" Tesla said, gushing over Joltik again. "But we don't have time to waste, we still have two more floors to go through before we reach the roof."

The third floor was just like the second floor, the wild pokemon inhabiting the area had used Electric Terrain to get rid of excess electricity. However, the pokemon on this floor were much more powerful and tactical than those down below. This time there were wild Jolteon, Ampharos, Electabuzz, Magnezone, Zebstrika, Heliolisk, and even Eelektross.

"Hmph, you kids may want to be more careful this time. These pokemon are stronger than the previous ones." Tesla said.

"We can take em'!" Diego responded eagerly, his Krokorok looked just as eager as he did. One of the Jolteon made the first attack, it's speed allowed it to make a preemptive strike against the rive of them. As soon as Jolteon attacked, the floor became a battle zone. The Electric pokemon used some attacks that admittedly caught the trainers off guard. One of the Electabuzz knew Cross Chop and Ice Punch, a Zebstrika knew Overheat, and some of the Eelektross carried Acrobatics and Dragon Claw!

"Rotom, use Ominous Wind!" Dakota commanded.

"Jigglypuff, hit them with Hyper Voice!"

The pokemon were defeated just the same as the previous floor, however almost as soon as the wild pokemon went down, even more were there to back them up.

"More of them?" Diego asked, sounding more annoyed than worried.

"Don't worry, I'll stay down here and hold them off, you all keep going." Julia said.

"Are you sure about this sis?" Renée asked.

"Don't worry, I'll back her up." Dakota replied.

"Thanks." Renée said sincerely, smiling at Dakota, who was beginning to blush.

"We must keep moving!" Tesla said, as she along with Diego and Renée headed upstairs to the third and final floor of the power plant. Joltik consumed the Electric Terrain, just as it did with the previous floor.

As the three of them climbed the stairs to the next floor, Renée asked Tesla about why the power plant was moved.

"Well the old power plant had to he shut down due to previous visits from Zapdos and the old pokemon that lived there causing various problems for us. So the Kanto National Board and the King and Queen of Kanto agreed to build a new power plant here on Route 13." Tesla explained.

"Not to sound rude, but I don't think this is the time for a history lesson." Diego stated.

"Hey, I was just asking. Besides it's good to learn a few things while we're on our journey." Renée responded.

"He's correct though, now isn't the time for a history lesson." Tesla added. The three stepped on to the third floor. Just like the previous floor, there was an Electric Terrain set up, however this time it seemed to be disappearing on its own, as if another pokemon was consuming it.

The three of them found several powerful pokemon such as Electivire, various forms of Rotom, and even pokemon that were already Mega Evolved like Mega Ampharos and Mega Manectric!

"Woah, some of these pokemon are already Mega Evolved! How is that even possible?!" Renée shouted.

"They must have picked up their mega stone out in the wild, it's not unheard of. However they've never been shown to mega evolve without a trainer. Perhaps the immense electric charge allowed them to finally reach their full potential?" Tesla pondered.

"Whatever the reason, I'm ready to fight!" Diego said, he and his Krokorok charged at the pokemon, they seemed to be only barely holding them off, however the battle became more even when Tesla and Renée joined in.

Suddenly one of the Mega Ampharos smashed Renée's Ampharos with a Fire Punch, tiring it out. An Electivire used Cross Chop on Porygon and a combination of Fan-Rotom and Mega Manectric managed to push Diego's pokemon back.

"I think this is where it ends..." Tesla said, sounding worried.

"Oh no it's not! We've come to far to lose! Ampharos, Mega Evolve!" Renée exclaimed, activating her Mega Bracelet, her Ampharos became enveloped in a purple, sphere shaped cocoon. The cocoon exploded, revealing Renée's Mega Amoharos.

"Now Ampharos, finish this with a Dragon Pulse!" Renée commanded. Ampharos blasted all of the opposing pokemon away with a red and blue beam of energy. Just as the three were about to proceed to the roof, pokemon from downstairs climbed upstairs.

"More of them?!"

"Don't worry about them. You two go on, Krokorok and I would really appreciate the training we get from this." Diego said.

"Are you sure?" Renée asked, Diego just turned to face her and gave her a thumbs up. Renée nodded in understanding, she and Tesla began climbing the final set of stairs up to the roof.

The two of them exited the building through the roof, the first thing that they noticed was that they sky was nearly pitch black with streaks of lightning lighting up the sky for brief moments. They then believed that they heard what sounded like thunder roaring, however their attention shifted to a flash of light coming from something that was on the roof with them. They were shocked (no pun intended) to see the source of their problem.

It was a Raikou, it was blasting electricity into the lightning rods.

"Woah..." Renée said in pure awe. The Raikou looked as if it was in pain, but it also looked angry. The beast of lightning roared again and noticed Tesla and Renée looking at it. The two of them got their pokemon ready. Raikou's body began to glow a harsh yellow.

"Get down! It's about to let out an electric pulse!" Tesla shouted. Just as she said, Raikou released a blast of electricity, the two girls could have been seriously hurt but Joltik jumped in front front of them, taking the blast. The small pokemon was fully charged but it didn't look injured. Suddenly, Joltik began to evolve!

"J-Joltik?" Renée said, Joltik had finished evolving, turning into a Galvantula that was charged and ready to battle.

"Renée, Galvantula may just be perfect right now! It can siphon the electricity from Raikou, waking it just enough to make it leave!" Tesla announced.

"Will that work?" Renée asked.

"Absolutely! Another option you could do is force it to attack and make it waste it's power that way."

"Alright, Galvantula, use Electro Beam!" Renée announced. Galvantula gathered an immense amount of electric power and fired it at Raikou as a large beam that looked rather similar to a Hyper Beam. Raikou retaliated with the exact same attack, the two beams clashed together, both sides looked like they were using their full power. After several minutes of the beam struggle, the two attacks ended in an explosion.

The smoke from the explosion cleared, Galvantula appeared to have used up most of its power while Raikou still looked charged. However, Raikou looked much more calm, as if it understood why they were all there.

Raikou roared again and fired another Electro Beam into the sky, parting the clouds and turning the sky back to normal. Raikou gave all of them an understanding look and ran away. Renée watched the Raikou run, enchanted by the legendary beast. She snapped out of her trance when Tesla pulled her away from the stairs.

"Woah, what's up?!" Renée asked, though she was answered by the many Electric pokemon that they battled on their way up.

"Our job is done. We should head back downstairs now." Tesla said with relief.

Back on the first floor, all five trainers regrouped, proud of their accomplished mission.

"First I must thank you for helping us in our time of need." Mr. Powell said. "However... as you were gone we discovered something."

"What happened boss?" Tesla asked. Mr. Powell sighed before answering his employee.

"Raikou and the rest of the electric pokemon came not because they were trying to blow the power, they came to try to drain some of our electricity. We realized that we were generating too much power and the pokemon must have known of the danger before we did and tried everything they could to stop it." Mr. Powell explained. "But thanks to you and the pokemon, a potential crisis has been averted. I can not thank you enough for your help. I'd like to give you these for your compensation." Mr. Powell handed the trainers several electric TM's for Thunder, Volt Switch, Thunder Wave, and Livewire.

"Thank you so much!" Julia said cheerfully.

"I suppose we'll be on our way then." Renée added.

"Hold on." Tesla said, getting everyone's attention. "Renée, if it's alright with you, I'd like to propose a trade. I want to trade my Porygon for your Galvantula."

Julia looked surprised, she looked over to her friends and then to her Galvantula. Galvantula looked at Tesla, it seemed happy, which Renée noticed.

"Is this what you want Galvantula?" Renée asked. Galvantula looked at Renée and then looked down with guilt. Renée gave the spider pokemon a sweet smile and began petting it (albeit rather hesitantly). "I'll do whatever makes you happy."

Galvantula smiled at Renée, it was tearing up a bit before rubbing it's head against Renée's leg. It then took a few steps towards Tesla and made a sort of joyful noise.

"I'll guess it's settled then..." Renée said, she was beginning to tear up a bit as well.

"Are you sure, sis?" Julia asked, Renée nodded.

"He seems happy here, and if he's happy then I'm happy." Renée answered.

The trade machine was set up, Tesla and Renée placed the pokeball of Porygon and Galvantula onto the trade machine. As the two pokemon went through the machine, 3D models of the pokemon passed each other on the way to their new trainers. When the trade was completed, Porygon automatically came out of its pokeball and began to evolve!

"Huh?" Renée asked in shock.

"Are you surprised?" Tesla asked. "I figured I would give you a little if you agree to the trade."

"Th-thanks." Renée responded.

"Enjoy your Porygon 2, and I promise that I will care for Galvantula and treat it with the utmost respect." Tesla added with a smile.

"Thank you, I promise I'll care for Porygon 2 as well." Renée responded.

The four then left the power plant, continuing on their path to Fuchsia City.

"Do you want to join us on our way to Fuchsia City, Dakota?" Julia asked.

"Sorry, but I actually have to meet with some friends back in Celadon." Dakota answered. "They should be here... right about now."

A helicopter arrived and dropped a ladder for Dakota.

"Maybe I'll see you again soon. If you're taking on the Gym's then maybe I'll see you at the Indigo Plateau." Dakota said as he was flown away.

"Well, I guess that's that." Diego said, as the trio pressed on, Renée began to tear up again, remembering all the good times she had with her Galvantula. Julia noticed her sister's sadness.

"Hey sis, 'goodbye' doesn't mean goodbye forever. It can also mean 'until we meet again'. You can always go back there and visit Galvantula."

"Exactly, and what you're saying about 'until we meet again' applies to Jack too. He's not gone, he's just lost right now. We'll find him!" Diego said confidently. "He's out there... somewhere."

End of chapter.
